Elke was never truly afraid of heights, but being trapped inside of a gigantic metal tube hurtling through the air certainly did not sit with her very well. This was her last flight to Tokyo, and then it was a quick train ride to reach U.A. Academy. Nausea was something she was used to by now, this being her third trip by air in the last 24 hours, and had to rush to the restroom multiple times on just this flight alone. Whether it was the nausea, or the stress of being so far from home, she couldn't tell. Outside of the windows she could see the airport, and the plane itself slowly began descending. Her exit from the aircraft was uneventful, short for a few strange looks at someone so small traveling by themselves. Back home her father was most likely huddled around his phone, awaiting a call from his beloved daughter to make sure she made it there safe; a call which was made, and answered in moments showing that what she thought was true. It made sense for the parents to be worried, but cell phones exist for a reason; it makes it easy to travel and not miss calls! Nonetheless, she was given a map, and instructions of where to go to reach her destination. Boarding the train, she began wondering just who had been assigned to meet her at the academy. Were they female like her? It'd make sense if that was the case; she felt most comfortable around other women but this didn't feel quite right. Would the school try to assign someone that fit her background? She came from Germany after all. No, there couldn't be any other German kids at the academy; most of the other children she knew wanted to do things other than be a hero, and they had their own academies to go to. Nonetheless, whoever she met, she hoped would be willing to show her around. If not, she could do so herself. The train trip didn't take very long to reach the school, and it felt even shorter with the music in her ears to help pass the time. Just a small little walk, and she'd be at the gate to UA. Sure enough, she was right. The giant blue arch surrounded by tall walls was really easy to find; behind it stood two tall glass paneled buildings. At the peak of the arch, located in the dead center was the symbol of the academy, a golden U surrounding a golden A. It was interesting imagery, but Elke began to wonder just where she would meet who would be showing her around the school. Scanning her surroundings, her eyes locked on what looked like a man her age waiting at the gate. A quick check over herself ensured her that she looked presentable. She was wearing her normal clothes, a short white dress covered by a sleeveless jacket, and around her shoulders was a long coat; it appears to be sized for someone much larger than her. The sleeves of the white dress itself are held to the dress by just the fabric below the arm, leaving the shoulders exposed to the air. Atop her head was a massive hat with the iron cross emblazoned on the front. Among all this, she still stood only 3 feet, and 7 inches tall; much shorter than the man sent to meet her. The site of Elke dragging her luggage had to be comical. One huge suitcase was being dragged behind her at such an extreme angle that one would think that any further, and the small wheels would start to scrape their covers against the ground. Elke began her walk towards the man she assumed she was supposed to meet, staring up directly into his eyes before holding out her hand up towards him, open palmed as if expecting a hand shake. Despite this interaction, she spoke no words, and waited for him to speak to her first.

Ren let out a long yawn as he leaned back against a wall just to the side of the UA's front gate. Getting up early was a fairly normal thing for the boy, even on the weekends, but the previous night he had ended up working a longer shift than normal at the restaurant. Some local office had been throwing a party or something and was ordering up a storm, and the boss hadn't felt obliged to let him leave at the normal time because it was the weekend. As a result of the late night, Ren would have normally taken the rare chance to sleep in just a bit, but on this particular day, that luxury was denied to him.
As class ended on Friday, one of the teachers had approached him, and asked if he could show a new arrival around the campus, a new hero course student that was just getting in from overseas. He hadn't had much of a reason to turn them down at the time, and since the teacher had seemed particularly swamped, he agreed. In fact the teacher had been so busy, that the only information he'd gotten was a rough arrival time, a name, and a rather puzzling statement about her height. That was all he had to work with, but.... well, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out.
Still, the boy was a bit drowsy, and he'd nearly fallen asleep a few times from being idle while he waited by the gate. Music was the solution he chose for the issue, and soon enough his head was bobbing up and down to the beat of some classical western rock, played loud enough from his headphones that it could just barely be heard by someone passing by. Being the weekend, he was dressed casually rather than in his uniform, a black T-shirt with the logo for some ancient band on it, a grey hoodie jacket tied off around his waist, and his characteristic yellow scarf around his neck. His bleach blonde hair was a bit on the messy side, but one could tell that he'd at least put a brush through it a few times in his morning routine. Not the most prim and proper grooming, but presentable enough, and that's all the boy cared for after being dressed up like a doll for fancy parties so many times.
It was always hard to tell exactly when a plane would get in, and so Ren was probably standing out front for a little over a half hour by the time he caught sight of someone approaching. At a distance it just looked like a wagon of sorts pulling itself along, but as they came closer he could make out the form of a girl lugging around a suitcase, almost horizontally, that was easily bigger than she was. That had to be her. As the girl approached, Ren pulled his headphones off and found himself looking downward more than expected... well, at least now he understood what the teacher had meant. It wasn't even that she was short or looked like a child, she was just.... small. Like a normal sized person had been shrunk down. Kind of cute too, actually. Still, it wasn't like she would be the shortest person in the class, Isamu had her beat in that regard, but then again; he was a cat.
Ren's eyes were drawn to the hat that the girl wore as she walked up to him, a brief flash of recognition at the symbol from his homeland. Her name was Klein, right? Well, they had said she was from overseas after all, now it made sense why the teacher had approached him in particular. That was two questions out of the way. When the girl offered her hand, Ren met her gaze and gave a welcoming smile. "You're Elke Klein, right? Ren Wolff, Nice to meet you." He shook her hand, having to bend down ever so slightly for the gesture because of the height difference. "I'll be showing you around today, but first we'll get you set up in the dorms. Want me to get that for you?" He pointed to her luggage as he got out his ID to unlock the gate.

As she approached her eyes had been locked on the face of the man she was offering an introduction to, she watched as the boy's eyes seemed to flash; he recognized the symbol on her hat, something Elke noted in her mind for later. Meeting eye to eye, the two shook hands as the young man introduced himself as Ren Wolff. Wolff, that name was familiar; wasn't that a famous German hero family? The thought caused Elke's eyes to narrow out of suspicion before she too returned the smile. "Nice to meet you too, Ren Wolff." She would have to inquire about their last name on a later date, now was not the time. After the handshake, her hand lingered in the air as Ren explained where he would take her first in the academy; the dorms. The final sentence he spoke felt natural, and with a quick glance at her luggage, she began to respond, keeping the same natural rhythm to their conversation. "My luggage? Y-..." Her voice immediately cut off, breaking the conversational rhythm that had just begun. Ren wasn't a servant, he was a guide. While yes, it was difficult for her to drag her luggage around constantly as it was literally the same height as her, they had only just met, and this was her chance to embellish her appearances. It was at this time that her hand moved to her hat, readjusting it to such a degree that Ren was unable to see her eyes; this made it harder to determine her own inner conflict that could be easily read if her entire face was visible. "N-no. I can handle it."By now her face started turning red; she felt her own stutter and knew she screwed up. It would have probably been better to accept the offer than to deny it out-right, but now she needed to stick to her guns. "I'll follow your lead." The words came out smoothly as the gate opened. Once the duo had started heading through the gate, it wouldn't take long for Elke to get a little stuck at the entrance. Right at the bottom of the gate, was a small lip of an incline. Elke wasn't strong enough to lift her own suitcase off of the ground, but she was too short to allow the wheels to roll up even such a small increase in elevation. She had the gut feeling such a thing would happen, and as the 'tink' sound was heard, she pushed it back a bit, then pulled as hard as she could once more. Thunk! No go, it still didn't make it over the small gap. Elke's face turned bright red; this was it. She felt like she wanted to die; first appearances were everything and here she was, making a fool of herself. 'Think. Think Elke!' she shouted at herself in her thoughts. There had to be a way out of this social suicide! Pausing, then clapping both cheeks she lifted her hat, looked straight at Ren, then closed her eyes and smiled as innocent a smile as she could muster. "Perhaps I do require assistance after all." Her voice had a slight twang of panic in it.

As the two greeted one another, Ren could have sworn he'd gotten a rather odd look from the girl for a moment. Given his experience with the Yamaki family, he'd gotten rather good at reading intent from expressions, but since the smile that came afterward didn't seem to have anything hidden behind it, he decided to ignore it. "By the way, I'm not big on the whole honorifics thing they do around here, so please just call me Ren. Easier that way." He added as their handshake ended, figuring he might as well get it out of the way early. He'd already made the same request to most of his classmates, and most of them hadn't listened.
Ren gave a casual shrug as his offer to help the girl with her luggage was declined, oblivious to the girl's inner struggle as he turned to the panel by the gate and swiped his ID. After all, he was just trying to be polite since it looked like it was giving her trouble. If the girl wanted to carry her own stuff though, he wasn't going to argue. "Fair enough. Right this way. As you can probably guess, the main building is right ahead, the dorms are off to the..." He stopped as he heard the sound of the suitcase getting stuck, turning back to see the girl struggling with trying to get it through the gate. He might have found the display comical if it wasn't so obvious how embarrassed the girl was at the whole situation.
He met Elke's bright red expression with a soft, understanding smile of his own as he walked back over. "Hey, no problem. I've got you covered." It was a rather obvious problem; the girl just didn't have enough height to deal with the lip the way most people did. That being said, it was pretty obvious from the abrupt change that she was trying to save face, so he figured that pulling it over himself would just make her more embarrassed. Bending down, he clapped his hands together and channeled his quirk, letting just a bit of ice form along the divider and smooth out the surface, eliminating the gap that had caused the issue in the first place. "There we go, give it a try now." He stepped back and made sure that Elke was able to free her luggage before giving a nod and starting down the path again. "Alright, we've got a lot of ground to cover, so let's get moving. And if you change your mind and want me to take that, just let me know."
The pair quickly left the main path and started off toward the dormitories, which were a bit of a trek from the front gate. Ren supposed that he could have started pointing out the various landmarks that scatter the campus, but figured that it was probably better to take things one at a time. Rather than walking in silence however, now was probably a good time for him to start to get to know his new classmate.
"So where are you from Elke?" He asked casually, starting off with the easy stuff. All signs pointed to Germany, but not what part of the country. It had been quite awhile since the boy had left his home for Japan, but his family had taken a decent number of trips when he was young and memories of it were still fairly clear. Maybe she was from somewhere he'd been before.

Elke's eyes remained shut as Ren answered her light plea for help. Internally, she was screaming, something she knew would show right through her eyes if she looked. When Ren spoke up about helping, she knew that he would take the suitcase and help it over; that's what anyone else would have done of course. Nothing happened, she began to worry as to why things were taking too long. With hands still attached to the luggage, she hadn't felt it even move; not even an inch. After a brief bit of silence, she heard his voice once more. Still, without opening her eyes she pulled on the wheeled suitcase and... it moved. It completely slid over the gap that was preventing her entry. Elke entirely expected it to still be stuck and had used a little more force than she needed to, partially losing her balance causing her to stumble a bit before catching herself. One could tell that she was not expecting to successfully move the suitcase this way by how fast her eyes shot open, with the shocked expression on her face. "W-Wha!?" Her voice blurted as she turned looked back at the gate once more and the gears began turning in her head as to what it was she was seeing. A small bit of ice had formed to create a slope along the edge, turning the miniature stairstep to become something akin to a hill. With a confused expression, she would stare for at the ice for a moment before being egged onward; once more she was asked if he wanted to handle the Luggage, responding with a simple nod with a confused expression, before walking forward with the suitcase still in tow, waiting for Ren to lead the way once more. As the duo travelled, Elke couldn't help but continuously glance at Ren's face, making sure to slow down a little bit out of his peripheral vision before doing so. Why was she doing this? Simple, the previous interaction had her completely concerned with what her new acquaintance thought of her. Originally she hadn't thought of sparking conversation, and partially feared what such behaviour could create; after all her first attempt at impressions had completely failed by her standards. It appeared, however, that Ren was far more keen on breaking the silence as he asked where she was from. Relief quickly washed through Elke's conscience as the conversation was started by Ren once more; this was another shot at her fixing the previous mistakes! "Germany!" She responded with a smile. Germany in her mind was the best of countries; Elke was completely biased toward her own people. "Berlin born and raised. How about yourself?" Her own curiosity began to take over. If he knew where she was from, it was only fair that she knew where he was from. As Elke spoke, she had sped up her own pace which was already relatively quick due to their height differences; for each step he took, she had to take two. Now walking just beside him, like a dog heeling to the man walking them, she kept her eyes trained on his face, watching for any hidden reactions she could find.

Continuing on towards the dorms, Ren found himself slowing down ever so slightly so that Elke could keep up more easily, settling into a fairly laid back pace as he tucked his hands into his pockets. One of the upsides to working such a late night was that the boss had told him he didn't need to come in today. Because of that, he didn't have any particular reason to hurry through his tour guide duties. The only actual reason he'd been trying to get moving was to make sure that he didn't end up drifting off on accident. As embarrassed as the girl had been dealing with her suitcase, Ren would have felt even worse if he ended up falling asleep on her. At the very least, the conversation was helping with that.
When Elke answered his question, he raised an eyebrow and glanced back at her. He hadn't quite been expecting that... well, the Germany bit was a little obvious, but she was from Berlin too? What were the odds? "Really? Huh, small world." He turned to face back forward so that they could switch onto a side path, it was a bit longer, but it had a little less bumpy pavement so the girl would have an easier time with her burden. "I grew up in Berlin too, my family had a big house right in the heart of the city. I moved to Japan a few years back so that I could do some training and attend this school." A 'few year's back was a bit of an understatement considering he'd lived more of his life in Japan than Germany at this point, but no one else needed to know that. As far as all his teachers and classmates were concerned, he'd only been in country for about three years. "I miss home, but this is the best place to be if you want to become a hero." That much was true, and certainly was the case for just about everyone that attended UA; Elke was probably no different.
"You just got to Japan today, right? Best advice I can give is to try to keep busy, wards off the homesickness while you get used to things. Got any sort of hobbies you like? I've gotten to know the local area pretty well, so I can probably tell you where you can pick up anything you'd need... Other than that, I can promise that all the people in our class are good people, so you'll probably be able to make friends pretty fast, and that'll help too." As the boy spoke, the dorms soon came into view, the long rows of buildings stretching off into the distance, one for each class at the school. He led the girl over to the building for 1-A and once again swiped his ID to get in before holding open the door for her.
"Well, here we are. I'm not sure where your room is, they didn't tell me that much. The info should have been in the packet they sent you with your key."

"Oh-ho?" Elke cooed to herself when Ren's expression changed to something. Earlier she had noticed his interest in her hat, but now she knew why. It made more sense now, why everyone was so willing to let her fellow student show her around rather than staff, or anyone else. He was German too, like her, also from Berlin as well. Small world is the truest statement that could have ever been used. A simple nod showed agreement as she listened to Ren talk of his home, before nodding once more to agree about UA being the best place to be to become a hero. "Yeah, I miss home too but it hasn't been very long." Elke smiled calmly, feeling at ease knowing she was around one of her fellows. "Only took a few days for me to start missing Papa. O-oh right... I need to call him once I'm settled in. He's so worried." As she spoke a few giggles could be heard. Her father, Gerhard, was an intimidating man but seemed to melt into blubbers when seeing, or talking to, his daughter; the thought of her father huddling over a small cellphone was too much, that she couldn't hold back a bit of laughter. Shortly after Ren began to inquire about if Elke had arrived today, but it seemed as though a question she needn't answer as he began giving her tips to avoid the homesick feeling, followed y further questions, and more information, before the dorms came into view. “That's good.” She replied about her fellow students being good people. It would have been strange if they hadn’t been considering where they were going to school, at least, that was how she saw it. “Hobbies though...” she started contemplating what kinds of things she actually did for fun. It hadn’t really crossed her mind for such a long period of time and yet she was never really truly bored. Pulling her coat in front of her, she began rifling through her pocket before pulling out a small, folded piece of paper. “Does flying count as a hobby?” Her voice cooed while distracted by the piece of paper as she began unfolding it. “There’s nothing quite like feeling the wind on your face.” As she envisioned the feeling, her smile grew more warm while her eyes scanned the document. It was a simple bit of documentation explaining the dorm rooms, the rules of the dorm, and which one was hers. As she read the number, her smile began to fade. Fifth floor, third room. With a scowl her gaze left the paper and looked high up the building, glaring at where the room would be. At least she had a room with a window. Contemplating her fate, her head turned slowly to stare at her luggage, and then moved faster once more back to the window where her room was located, and then back again. If the window was open this could have been much easier since then she could have used her quirk to get up there herself; goodness she hated climbing stairs. ‘Wait... stairs... oh no.’ The realization hit her like a brick and her angry expression turned to that of borderline anguish. She hated the feeling of climbing higher and higher, having to raise her legs more than she wanted to; that and the permanent feeling of slightly falling backward that came with it. If the window to her room had been open, she could easily have just flown up and climbed through but her suitcase; a quick look back at her suitcase confirmed her fears. It was too big to go through her window. “C-could... could you handle my err... luggage...” She lowered her hat once more and her expression turned dark. She lost, there was no way she could get up to the fifth floor with her luggage. Pulling the luggage forward, she held the handle out to Ren while averting her eyes, before lightly coughing. This was the last thing she wanted to do, relying on someone else for help so early. If Ren accepted the burden of the suitcase, it would be easy to notice that it’s weight was mostly exactly as one would expect; inside the suitcase itself was clothes, just clothes. Very little of anything else that was exceptionally dense to create excessive weight. This also meant the suitcase itself was the largest bulk of the weight compared to it’s internals; it was why Elke was able to drag it everywhere with her so easily across flat ground. Once the duo was inside, Elke removed her hat; having a hat on indoors is complete insanity. This meant she couldn’t hide her expression nearly as well, revealing an expression between embarrassed and annoyed, with the annoyed expression getting bigger and bigger whenever she looked towards the staircase.

Flying, huh? Ren had to admit, it wasn't the sort of answer he'd been expecting to hear when he asked about the girl's hobbies. He'd only flown a handful of times himself, his initial trip to Japan, and a few gatherings attended by the Yamaki family on the mainland. Given that the girl was describing the feeling of the wind, that probably wasn't what she was talking about anyway, so.... either she had an quite the expensive hobby, or more likely, it had something to do with her quirk. The teacher hadn't given him any information about that either. Regardless, the expression on her face seemed to speak volumes of just how much she enjoyed it. "I mean, it probably counts, I'm not sure if it's something you can do all the time though. If you find yourself with time to fill, the people here can introduce you to all kinds of things."
Ren couldn't help but look down at the paper with Elke's room assignment as she pulled it out of her pocket, a slight grimace passing over his face when he saw the room number. 503. "Ugh, that's rough." There were few things more troublesome than living high up in a building without elevators, especially when it came to moving. Luckily, it didn't seem like the girl had all the much stuff, however... As Ren glanced over towards the stairs, Elke held out the handle of the suitcase toward him. The request had been quiet enough that the boy had barely caught it, but as the looked back to the new arrival, it was fairly obvious what she was asking. "Yeah, sure. I can take care of it." He had offered, after all, and there probably wasn't a simple way to help her out like he had before.
Taking the luggage from her, Ren found that the burden wasn't a particularly heavy one, but he could understand how she'd be having a bit of trouble with it, given her stature. If the gate had been a problem, five flights of stairs would have been a nightmare. Before he started the climb, he glanced back toward her to make sure that she was still following. With her hat removed, the expression she wore was much more visible now, and what Ren had taken for embarrassment looked much more like irritation. The boy paused for a brief moment, wondering if he'd done anything to cause such a sour look, before shaking his head clear and starting up the stairs.
Luckily, Ren was pretty fit for his age, most of the people at this school were for obvious reasons, so tackling all five floors with a bit extra weight wasn't all that much of a challenge, though the speed with which he climbed left him breathing a bit heavier by the time he reached the top. Once there, he turned down toward the girl's side of the building and stopped at the third door. "Here we are." He waited Elke to unlock the door then passed the suitcase back to her so that she could deposit it inside. "For the record, I'm down on the third floor, 302. Feel free to stop by if you need anything." He gestured back toward the stairway. If I'm not there after classes, chances are I'm either downstairs or at work."
Ren waited patiently for the girl to inspect her new room and get settled a bit, standing by at the door until she once again entered the hallway, then starting to move back down the stairs. "Anyway, I can't be asking all the questions here, so before we get on with the tour, do you have anything you want to ask about me or the school?"

Such a return response was something that Elke hadn't expected. Most of her life she spent flying around and the concept of being unable to do so felt so foreign; flying through the air just made her feel so free, making her wonder what it must feel like to be a prisoner of the ground. Currently, though, her mind was focused on what she would need to do to avoid climbing all of these stairs. Confirming her fears, Ren uttered a small phrase revealing that five flights of stairs really were what they had to climb. Once Ren had relieved her of the plight of carrying a suitcase up several flights of stairs, Elke began her climb upwards. This was way more walking that Elke enjoyed, especially when walking up all of these stairs; the number of stairs wasn't even the worst part about the entire situation. Each stair was almost reaching her knees, making the small bottled hurricane lift her leg much higher than normal to go up even one step, slowing down her progress considerably and forcing her to spend much more energy than she wanted to. Breathing heavily, halfway up the stairs she muttered to herself in full German. "Stairs... are the worst..." Around this time she realized that Ren was ascending the stairs quite fast; was he rushing for something? Not being one to allow someone to outright beat her, Elke increased her pace; something she would probably regret in a short bit. By the time she had reached the fifth floor, Ren had already been waiting in front of room 503. Once caught up, she was informed that Ren was just a few floors down, offering for her to stop by sometime. 'Maybe,' she thought to herself. 'I might stop by sometime.' Something seemed to stand out when Ren mentioned unlocking the door. "Wait, unlock? I wonder if there was a key in that note..." Rifling through her pockets once more, she pulled out a key labelled with the number 503. Apparently, it had indeed fallen out of the wrapped and folded note that she had clumsily pulled from her pocket earlier. Lining the key up with the door's keyhole, Elke pushed it in and much to nobodies surprise, it was a perfect fit. "Hey, look at that it fit!" A quick turn and then a pull, and the door opened easily revealing a rather normal room. Inside the room was exceptionally neat and clean; everything had been recently dusted as the school had expected Elke's visit, but it was up to her to personalize the room fully. In one side of the room was a single small bed with a blue cover over it and a white pillow, and a small desk across the room from it. Dashing around the room, Elke began checking each corner of the room for other various things. In total, the room had a bed, a dresser, a desk, and a small closet; nothing much past that, except that the room seemed to have it's furniture spread across it so that each piece of furniture covered each corner of the room, except for the one near the door itself. Inside the dresser was some simple school supplies; just in case Elke hadn't brought enough with her which of course was something she was happy for, but other than that not much was found in the room. Elke didn't mind though, she was happy enough to have a well furnished room when she arrived; always count your blessings, a phrase Elke tried to live by. Returning back to the hallway, she retrieved her suitcase, but then simply placed it back inside the room before turning back to Ren with a smile. The blonde seemed to want Elke to begin asking him questions about the school, and Elke had a few questions that she needed answered, but first one question needed to be answered to determine whether or not she needed to continue taking those infernal stairs. With a wide grin, she responded with a slight expective tone to her voice. "So, are we allowed to use our quirk freely on school grounds? So long as nobody gets hurt, of course..." A glint came in her eye as she added a follow-up question. "and... I have to know. Would you be willing to catch me if... fell?" The reason she asked this final question was simple. If quirks were allowed to be used, then she wouldn't take the stairs which left only one other choice. Elke was small enough to fit through her window, and she had the ability to fly. This meant that she would be able to simply go to and from her room like a bird leaves and returns to their nest; through flight. There was one other benefit from the final question. If Ren was willing to catch her, she could show off her quirk to the fullest just before they continued their tour. She would wait, with her dorm room door opened halfway as if she was prepared to walk back inside, but was waiting for Ren's answer.

Once Elke had done a quick circuit of her room, the question that Ren found himself faced with was a bit of an unexpected one, though not entirely without warrant. For most people, using one's quirks overtly out in public was either frowned upon or straight up illegal, depending on the place and the exact situation. Given just how destructive some people's abilities could be, it did make a degree of sense. However, the whole point of the school was to teach people how to use their quirks and become heroes, so it would be a bit odd if similar stigmas were still in place. Ren put one hand to his chin as he attempted to remember exactly how the school's student handbook had addressed the issue. "Well... They prefer if you have supervision, for pretty obvious reasons, but there isn't anything expressly forbidding it, assuming we don't hurt anyone or damage school property..." The fact that either of those two particular outcomes came with the risk of severe consequences didn't really need to be stated, or at least Ren thought so.
The second part of the girl's question was a bit more out of place, and Ren hesitated a moment before he gave an answer. Well thinking about it, he'd probably try to help any of his classmates if they fell and he was close enough, and this girl didn't look to be particularly heavy, so he really didn't have much of a reason to say no, did he? He really didn't get the meaning, but found himself giving the answer regardless. "...Sure, I guess?" He nodded with a half shrug, the confusion he felt fairly apparent in his expression. What an odd question...

Elke's eyes watched Ren's eyes reach up to his chin, before locking back to his eyes, smiling as he answered her first question before her eyebrows started to raise slowly as he pondered. What was taking him so long? It's a simple yes or no question; she thought herself, certainly it was an easy question, right? An unsure answer came, but that was perfectly fine. At that moment, Elke burst out with an odd amount of energy that had seemed completely uncharacteristic of her up until this time. "Perfect!" Her eyes were practically sparkling with joy. "Meet me outside. I'll call down to you from my window once I'm on my way." She knew she wasn't going to simply 'meet' him outside, but jump out of her window to meet him. White lies didn't sit very well with her, but if she told him what her plan really was, he most certainly wouldn't have gone with it; sometimes it is best to ask for forgiveness than for permission. With a quick thumbs up and a goofy expression on her face that involved her tongue being stuck out, she spun around and bolted back into her room. Once inside she knew it would take him a little while to get down, so she began formulating her plan of action to get outside. Luckily for her, the window was right next to her bed and it was easy enough to unlock and lift upward, allowing the nice spring breeze through the window. Once open, she would roll her suitcase over and set it next to her dresser; there was no need to actually put her belongings away; she could do that tonight. Moving back over to the window she would look outside and scan the area. It seems people were out doing their own thing, so it would just be herself and Ren for a little while; that was good. This meant she had multiple other chances to surprise people with her abilities! Waiting for the right moment, she watched the front door for Ren to come outside, before waiting for him to stand still for a few moments. Whether he arrived or not, after enough time had passed, she would yell out for Ren. "Heyyyyy Ren-san! Are you ready?"

As soon as Ren answered the question, Elke's demeanor seemed to change drastically. Whatever the question had been about, the boy's answer had made her rather happy and she began acting in a much more playful manner. Ren raised an eyebrow at the request for him to go along ahead, but shrugged after a moment, figuring that maybe there was something more she wanted to take care of in the dorm room before they moved on. "Well, alright then I suppose. I'll meet you down there in a minute." As he turned to head back down the staircase, he saw Elke dart back into her room, lending a bit more credit to his current theory.
That theory wouldn't end up holding for very long, however, since as the boy made his way down to the first floor, he found his mind working to put a few facts together. She'd been actively complaining about the stairs... with good reason, considering her situation, she'd said her hobby was flying, and she was asking about whether or not she could use her quirk within the confines of the school... Throw on top the sudden question about falling while they were still on the fifth floor, and it wasn't too far of a logical leap to make. His earlier guess about her quirk was probably right on the money and... an odd feeling took hold of him. What exactly had he just agreed to?
He briefly considered heading back up, but by the time he had reached the common room on the first floor, decided it was probably too late for that. The boy made his way outside and soon found himself looking up at the window on the fifth floor, with the uncanny feeling that something was about to go wrong somehow. When Elke called out of the window, he nodded his head slowly. The fact that he'd need to be ready for anything at all basically confirmed his suspicions, and he began channeling a tiny bit of ice to his hands, just in case. "Ready as I'll ever be." He muttered to himself.

Locking eyes with Ren she watched his head subtly nod in response to her calling out, or at least she thought it was a nod. Either way, her plans were just about to be set in action! Looking behind herself, up to the top of the window, she flipped the lock in place so the window stayed open before climbing up onto the window. Gazing down from below, she mentally calculated her flight path once more to make sure everything was alright, licked her finger. With one hand grabbing the window, Elke leaned forward holding her finger as far out as she could. This was just a simple check to check the wind speed and direction. "So it's blowing towards where I want to go..." the little woman muttered to herself. "Here goes!" Her hand released the window. The startup was slow as her body began to fall forward before the jacket around her before she rocketed forward, almost perfectly perpendicular to the window itself before Gravity started pulling her downward; a good 10 feet had been traveled with such a short burst. To those around her, they would have heard a sudden shockwave of wind the moment Elke's body rocketed forward. Holding her hands forward, she shot another single burst of wind while curling her legs forward. With this advanced bit of motion, her body rolled up, spun in a somersault she then threw her arms and legs to all sides, falling towards the ground. This is where the happy laughter began. Elke began to fall like a skydiver, rocketing towards the ground at an alarming rate, blowing air behind herself to speed up even faster for the first split second. Such a feeling was something she had come to love; the wind blowing on her face, the air rushing past her, her hair wildly whipping behind her in the wind only being kept in check by the jacket that was blowing alongside her. She didn't have much time to revel in the feeling before she needed to change her trajectory, and it was at such a sharp angle. Using both of her hands, and a single back thruster, she blasted at the ground while turning her body towards where her new classmate was located. The blowing of the wind slowed her down and began to cause her to fly at an angle toward the ground, in Ren's direction, but the moment she came within 3 feet of the ground the angle her thrusters fired her back up into the air. If her mental measurements were accurate, they would only need to move a little bit to catch her. "Incoming~!" She sounded happy, much happier than before. The small girl's expression could only be described as glee as she flew through the air towards Ren, her arms outstretched forward, expecting him to stop her from flying further. Catching her would be easy, she didn't have much mass to her being only 40 lbs or so, and her coat helped slow her down when traveling horizontally; it acted as a mock parachute bringing her speed down to what someone would normally have been able to achieve by running at around the time she would be catchable. Even if he didn't catch her, the chance of injury was relatively slow; it was something she practiced greatly, a simple roll could stop it. Her goal wasn't so simple, she was testing Ren; if he caught her, that meant that he was someone she could trust at the school. Once caught, or if she had to catch herself with a roll, she'd have a hard time keeping herself standing, going limp with laughter. It was fun, flying, it really was. If she could keep it going for a long, long period of time then she would, but this would have to do; Elke hoped it was impressive enough.

Ren's feeling of unease only grew as he watched Elke bend out of the window and make the same gesture that every single person on TV made when they were checking the wind. This could only end well. And then she dropped. The thrust didn't activate for a solid second and half, during which time Ren instinctively started forward to intercept. "Verrücktes Mädchen!" He hissed under his breath. More ice started to form at his feet as he prepared to launch forward, but before he'd taken more than step or two however, Elke's figure suddenly rocketed forward. Ren felt a wave of air wash over him and he stopped in his tracks, golden eyes fixed on the rapidly moving shape that had taken to the sky.
Ren watched as Elke soared through the air with ease, executing aerobatic maneuvers as she went. It was an impressive sight to be sure, as the girl fliped about and shot down into a steep dive. Over the sounds of the rushing wind, the boy could here the euphoria filled laughter of someone who was truly enjoying herself, causing the concerned expression that he'd been wearing a moment ago to fade into genuine smile. If this is what the girl had meant when she talked about her hobby, it was pretty easy to see why she liked it so much. It looked like an absolute blast, and a part of him had to wonder if he would ever be able to experience something like it.
As Elke hit the bottom of her dive and shifted course, Ren broke out of the minor trance he had found himself in. She was headed right toward him now, and the warning shout made it rather obvious what she intended to do. 'Oh crap.' Darting to the side, Ren put himself right in the girl's path and reached out to catch her. The actual intercept wasn't that much of a problem, and the boy easily managed to get his arms around the small form, but that was only part one of the maneuver. Small though she may be, Elke was still a mass moving at a fairly decent speed, and Ren himself wasn't particularly heavy, hell he could have been considered small by a number of his peers. This, combined with the fact that moving to meet Elke had robbed him of the ability to anchor to the ground properly, meant that the girl still had too much momentum for him to stop on his own.
As he captured his classmate-turned-projectile, Ren was knocked off his feet and found himself falling backward with Elke in tow. Time slowed down for a brief moment and his reflexes kicked in, the ice he'd been channeling quickly shifting to his back and expanding into the shape of kite shield. This acted as a barrier between the blonde and the ground as he hit the dirt, rebounding slightly before sliding out across the lawn. The slick surface and the girl's lingering momentum carried them back about ten feet before the pair finally slowed to a stop. He'd managed to keep a hold of Elke during the fall, so he and the shield were the only things that had taken any sort of battering.
Ren probably should have been angry, or at the very least exasperated by the whole turn of events, but as he lay there on his back, he couldn't help but join in laughing with the girl. The whole thing was too ridiculous to be upset about. With each laugh tension flowed out of his muscles and he soon released his hold, letting his arms collapse onto the grass as the adrenaline began to fade. "And that's what you do for fun, huh?" He said after the laughter finally started to die down, looking up at Elke with a grin.

Just as Elke had expected, her classmate had caught her but she didn't know at what cost. Her arms wrapped around Ren, but her velocity seemed to be too great, a miscalculation to be sure, as she continued to feel the world falling after being caught successfully. Laughter paused as the two slid several feet across the ground, and Elke felt a pang of guilt in her conscience; she didn't know what Ren's quirk was, and hadn't yet seen the shield he created to protect himself from the ground. Once they had stopped, Elke quickly sat up to inspect her catcher, and upon the realization that he was perfectly fine, the shock vanished and the giggling laughter ensued once more as she relaxed, resting against Ren. Once she heard his voice, however, she realized just how close she was. Face turning red, she jumped up, mock dusted herself off, and turned away to hide her face; if only she didn't forget her hat in her room she would have had something to hide behind. "Y-yeah. It's loads of fun. I... haven't perfected landing yet though..." She shuffled slightly. "T-thanks for the catch." A light cough came from her as she glanced back to the blonde. Normally, this is where someone would offer assistance to helping someone up, but she knew if she did his weight would just pull her back down onto him and that would have just made things worse. Looking around, she made note that nobody else seemed to be around. It was just a quick double check, she was certain nobody was around before but now she was certain. 'Good,' she thought to herself, 'nobody but Ren saw me get flustered after that. Very good.' Over time her face seemed to recover from the blushing, but as it did she spoke about their tour, asking what was next; the perfect distraction from what just occurred. "So, Ren. Where to next?" A happy smile came across her face. Her entire day had gone from dreary travel in giant metal tubes with wings to meeting one of her classmates which so far, they had been getting along really well; she was worried that how she would have gotten along with everyone in class, but at least one out of however large the class was is good enough for her. "Along the way we can talk about what you like to do. It's only fair." She didn't bother hiding it; she was curious about his hobbies. With the realization that she herself only had one hobby, it was perhaps time to adopt another; what better than to get ideas through others? Standing tall (as tall as one her height can get) she waited for Ren to lead the way to their next destination while waiting for his reply. Perhaps he would lead her towards their homeroom class, or maybe the training fields.
