Slade's physique is commonly referred to as "Badass Grandpa" by peers and juniors alike. His tall, broad appearance mixed with several scars all over his body make for quite the imposing figure. His hair is white, usually kept shorter than shoulder length, and he often has prickly white stubble on his face with a mustache or beard depending on how he wants to grow it out. He keeps the mustache trimmed so it doesn't go over his lips (A remnant of when his wife would chide him about not kissing him until he took care of that bush on his face) and his eyebrows are a bit thicker to match. His wrinkles give away his age even more, having laugh lines, frown lines, and visible forehead creases.
His skin is tanned from being outside so much, and his hands are rough from working hard. He looks like a rough, old, jacked man. But all of it is just misleading. He's really a nice old man who likes feeding birds and other things.

PERSONALITY
LIKES -Kids-Animals -Protecting others -Rice dishes -Exercise -Helping | DISLIKES -Brother-Cold chicken -Bullies -Dismissive people -Sour things -Traffic |
RUMOR/SECRET: | "Kid I'm too old to be keepin' secrets." -Apparently his brother killed his wife and kid, and that's why he's so adamant that he's the one to bring his brother down -Used to be Top 10, maybe even Top 5, in Hero Ranking before semi-retiring to be with his family |
Slade is what one would call the "Dad" or "Grandpa" of the hero world. Being most likely the oldest hero still active, he tends to take others under his wing to help them out when necessary. Rank or skill doesn't matter to him, he'll chide the number one hero just as he would a rookie, and most people seem to accept his wisdom when he gives it.
Slade is a generally happy guy, despite his past, even joking with others about his age and other factors. His sense of humor can be grim at times "My dad runs faster than you and he's six feet under!" but it's all well meaning. He's also happy to take any mission he's given, from the mundane to the life threatening, believing a hero should answer the call no matter what it's about.
If he can solve a problem in a non-violent manner, he'll try. And he always attempts use of his tranquilizers before any live ammo. But if someone is either resistant to the tranquilizers or just don't get hit by them, he has no problem with taking out actual rounds and shooting them in the legs or shoulders to incapacitate them. He never aims for the kill.
He loves his pets and can be often seen with at least one of them out and about. They're all harness and leash trained so yes, he will walk a lizard from time to time.
He used to smoke, and from time to time he can be seen falling back into old habits, particularly when he's stressed, though he constantly makes the comment of being able to actually quit whenever he wants. He also enjoys drinking casually or socially, but never while working, and can hold his own when it comes to liquor. He prefers whiskey, but sake is a good alternative if he's out somewhere that serves it.
He's bilingual, knowing both Japanese and English, but he still holds his Southern accent from his time in Texas.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | Born in Japan, Raised in Texas Homes in both New York City and Tokyo |
PARENTS: | Carter [Father](Retired Hero Lone Star, Deceased) Nariko [Mother](Deceased |
SIBLINGS: | Tsukiya [Brother](Villain Raijin) Kaiya [Sister] |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | Nozomi [Ex-Wife](Deceased) |
OTHER: | Mitoshi(Japanese Bobtail, female, Star-shaped mark on head) Toshio(Male, Border Collie, Black and White) King(Male, Argentine Black and White Tegu) Yoshiko [Daughter](Deceased) |
Slade was born to an American Top Hero after he took a vacation to Japan and fell in love and promptly had a child. Initially born in Japan, his mother then moved to Texas to be with his father and Slade grew up there, giving him Dual Citizenship. However, when he was old enough to begin Hero Training he wanted to move back to Japan to get out from under his father's shadow for a bit. He went to U.A as a transfer student, but shortly after graduating was called home by the fact that his mother had gotten ill. He returned to discover he had two younger siblings, Tsukiya and Kaiya. While Hitoshi had inherited something similar to their father's quirk, his two siblings had inherited something more akin to their mother's electricity quirk.
His mother eventually got better, and Hitoshi joined the US Military to try and help his family out. He wasn't in for very long, in total about four years, before returning to Texas to join his father as a Ranger at age 22. It was here that he learned about what it really meant to be a hero from his father, and when he decided to really pursue it himself. And so, he left for Japan once more, enjoying the feeling he had away from his father out there so he could begin his own climb.
At 24 he wasn't the youngest hero on the scene, but he worked just as hard as, if not harder than, the other heroes. He clawed and climbed his way to the top, eventually landing in the TOP 10,or was it TOP 5? Hard to remember these days. He stayed up there well into his 30s before he, too, fell in love with a woman named Nozomi. They got married, had a kid, and Hitoshi semi-retired from hero work to be home more for them. He was still recognized and respected, and he would always help someone if he saw them needing it, but for the most part he was just there for his family.
And then he got the call.
His brother had gone rogue, his parents were dead, and he was heading to Japan after a crime spree. Hitoshi was worried, sure, but his family didn't even know what city he was staying in. He would be fine, right? And he was, for about eight years.
Now into his 40's, Slade kept his hero gear all locked up in his basement, only keeping a handgun on him (legally, mind you) in the event of an emergency. He had been going shopping, hadn't he? He was headed home... The smell of ozone, electricity.
He ran.
When he got home, there were scorch marks and arcing patterns like lightning had struck. I won't go into further detail, but he lost his family that day. And that was when he began to dedicate all his free time in hunting down the "new" villain known as Raijin. Or as he knew him, his Brother.
Slade is now in his 50's, still keeping fit and practicing more than ever to keep up his body and mind for the eventual confrontation with his brother. He's not on the Top Hero Charts anymore, but anyone who hears the Hero Name Gunsmoke should recognize him. He was one of the Old Guard. A Veteran. Someone to listen to, to look up to.Hell there may even be a few kids still who want to be just like him when they grow up. He never fully retired, but he's about to fully return.

QUIRK & SKILLS
Homing
TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: A
SUMMARY:
Gunsmoke's Quirk allows him to control the trajectory of his bullets with perfect precision. However, this takes his full concentration to be able to fully control the movement of a bullet, and he cannot do this in quick succession. His quirk requires concentration and patience to use, so in order to use it he tends to set up somewhere and fight from a distance, however he is more than capable of fighting without use of his quirk and does not inherently rely on it. All guns Slade uses will be the same range as they are traditionally.
Another weakness is his need to protect people. Even if he's more effective at range, if he sees someone in trouble he will put himself between that person and trouble. Even if that trouble is in arm's reach and has hands that are on fire.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
Slade is still, essentially, a 50 something year old human man. He takes the same damage as a quirkless person would from any source be it guns, lightning, fire, whatever. He does have a preference for ranged combat, but is capable in close quarters if necessary, opting to use his SIG Sauer and Knife in aMetal Gear inspired CQC style combat.

Hand to Hand Combat (CQC) Gun-Fu
RANK/LEVEL: A
SUMMARY:
Slade has been active for a long time. And before that he was a Texas Ranger. And before that a soldier. He didn't always have his gun available to him in conflict, so he had to learn to take the fight up close. While not his strongest suit, he can definitely hold his own one on one. He uses a special combat style that is a mix of Judo, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Eskrima as well as Wushu and Tae Kwon Do.
Rumor Mill
RANK/LEVEL: B
SUMMARY:
Over the course of time, Slade has developed quite a lot of things. One of those things the man has developed is a rather extensive information network. Being a man from the old generation of heroes where they needed to do stuff without the amount of technology we have now, Slade's network is nothing to scoff at. While it's rather old and likely out of date considering the relative age of his contacts, the network as a whole still provides the man with some interesting tidbits here and there. While it's usually never something especially substantial to the point of leading to arrests, the network has helped the man become aware of several newer villains sooner than most. While this helps Slade most of the time, being that this is word of mouth, sometimes the information could be bunk due to having to pass through multiple people like a bad game of telephone.
Experience
RANK/LEVEL: A-
SUMMARY:
Slade might not know things that can be articulated in words but this old cowboy's been in enough scraps to get a general feel for things. While not all-knowing when walking blind into a situation, Slade's seen enough to be able to gauge the general odds of situations. The man isn't able to provide people with a quantifiable amount while utilizing this skill but the veteran is definitely able to smell when something stinks.
Peak Physical Condition
RANK/LEVEL: A
SUMMARY:
Slade has had years of training and practice. Even despite being way past middle aged, he is still in fantastic condition and able to keep up with the younger heroes. However, due to his age, if he overexerts himself physically with things such as intense combat, his condition may start to wane in 5-6 posts.
Marksmanship
RANK/LEVEL: A
SUMMARY:
Even without his quirk, Slade is an excellent shot. While his range is limited with Tranquilizer rounds, with live rounds and a proper scope he has been known to hit targets at a mile away with the right equipment, but he averages at around quarter-mile to half-mile engagements.
Guitar/Singing
RANK/LEVEL: B
SUMMARY:
While not good enough to be professional, Slade does enjoy plucking at his acoustic guitar and singing songs in the privacy of his own home. He picked up this skill during his time both as a soldier and a Ranger in order to pass the time and entertain his comrades in hard times and good.
