[NPC] Matthias Wolff / Siegfried [Hero]

THE BASICS

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Growing up, Matthias was a pretty carefree kid that wanted nothing more than to roam the world and experience all life had to offer, but years of experience from both his time on the road and his life as a hero have changed that. He is now a man of particularly strong resolve, and once he decides to do something there is very little that can prevent him from following through. He gives no quarter to those that would do wrong in this world and believes firmly in his own sense of justice. Having learned the hard way what happens when people fool around on the job, he tends to exude a rather serious and cool headed aura whenever business is involved, and doesn't take it lightly when others don't have the same level of respect for their occupational hazards. Despite having a rather crass manner of speech, Matthias is actually an incredibly caring individual, albeit one that believes in the effectiveness of tough love and discipline.... unless of course his daughters are involved, in which case the warmer side of his personality tends to shine through.

BACKGROUND HISTORY

Born to a family with a long history of producing great heroes, Matthias understood that his legacy carried a heavy weight at early age... a weight that he quickly chose to cast away when he realized that was actually an option. He grew up as a normal kid for the most part, though slightly lower than average performance in school he was quite good at making friends and tended to be rather popular with the ladies, a fact that he took advantage of whenever had the chance. He had little care for how powerful his quirk was or the ravings of his peers about the lives of heroes, he didn't have any real goals in life either, simply wanting to enjoy himself and live life to the fullest. It was that lack of real ambition that lead him to drop out of school and start traveling, wandering the world in search of whatever new experiences he could find.

What he ended up finding, was what it felt like to be in the wrong place at the wrong time... or perhaps the right time if that's your view. Before the second year of his journey had come to a close, an 18 year old Matthias had his first real encounter with a villain. Some thug in a mask tried to hold up a store and take the people inside hostage in hopes of earning himself a ransom. What the guy didn't expect however, was for some foreigner to be completely unwilling to take his shit and get in the way. It was the first time Matthias had every really fought, and certainly the first time he thought about using his quirk for something that wasn't completely mundane. Turns out that he had some pretty good instincts for it and ended up subduing the would-be villain before the situation could deteriorate. As spontaneous as the whole event was, Matthias didn't think much of it and continued upon his travels. He probably would have stayed that way too, if it weren't for the fact that it kept happening.

For whatever reason, the boy seemed to be some sort of trouble magnet on the road. He'd keep encountering one incident after another; A mugger in the streets, a man trying to hijack a bus, a bank robbery, a bunch of thugs trying to corner a girl in an alley. Every time he would stand his ground and come out on top. Eventually he started to like the feeling, the idea that he was helping others, that he was stopping terrible, standing in the way of something that should never come to pass. He came to understand why his family did what it did; not because they were pressured into it or because they had to keep up tradition, but because they chose to stand up and do the right thing. His journey changed from one of adventure to one of training, as he started seeking out anything that could help him hone his natural skills, so that no matter what he came across he would be able to stand tall and take it head on.

At twenty one years old, Matthias returned home a very different man than when he left. His carefree attitude was replaced with a sense of purpose and a resolve to follow through. He took the exam for his hero license and passed with flying colors, having never once set foot in any of the institutions that were dedicated to such pursuits. Now officially sanctioned, he quickly began making a name for himself as a hero by taking on all manner of dangerous missions. He had a natural affinity for working in the more secluded parts of the world, helped by a love of nature that he had developed turning his travels, but an expertise in combat meant that he was also frequently called in to deal with the more troublesome villains that cropped up. In fact, his reputation for bringing down much higher ranked foes is what gave rise to his title as a hero: Siegfried, the dragon slayer.

Despite not being one to hog the spotlight, Matthias' reputation continued to spread and he steadily climbed the ranks of the hero world. In the present day he holds the titles of the rank 3 hero in all of Europe, and rank 9 in the world. Though he still tends to spend most of his days working in the Alps along the southern border of Germany, he does take out time to spend with his family, as despite never having married, he has a pair of twin daughters to look after.

Glasschmiede

SUMMARY:
In the most simple terms, Matthias' quirk allows him to spontaneously create glass in the vicinity of his body, taking on the shape of any object he desires.

When most people think of glass, they think of something fragile, something delicate that must be handled with the utmost care in order to avoid breaking. In truth, glass is an incredibly versatile material and can be strengthened to a durability that surpasses most metals. The glass that Matthias' quirk produces is similar in physical characteristics to metallic glass, a substance with strength and toughness that surpass even the highest quality steel, but it possesses the same transparent appearance that one would expect from normal glass.

Matthias' glass can be formed in any unoccupied spot within 100 feet(30 meters), and any number of separate objects can be created as long as the combined area is less than 4 cubic meters. Though the normal substance he creates is quite strong, he does have the ability to produce weaker glasses when the situation calls for it as well. Finally, in addition to creation, Matthias can freely dismiss any glass he makes. By focusing on a particular mass that is within 100 feet and snapping his fingers, the glass shatters and turns to dust. Other than this however, any glass he makes cannot be manipulated or reshaped after it has been formed.

There are two primary weaknesses to this quirk. The first is that loud noises seem to interfere with Matthias' ability to create new glass. The issue isn't really one of concentration as many might expect, but something fundamental about the way his brain processes the quirk. For whatever reason, the stress of particularly loud noises seems to trigger the same portion of his brain that he uses to dismiss his glass, and anything he tries to make shatters instantly. As a result, while he is exposed to sounds with an intensity in excess of 110 decibels he is unable to create new material. 

The second weakness Matthias has comes in the form of a drawback from repeated use. As the man creates glass in his surroundings, small shards of the substance begin to form within his body as well, usually starting just below the skin. As more and more glass is created, these shards grow in size, extending both inward and outward until they eventually break the skin or hit bone. For whatever reason this process is not painful to the man, but glass is a rather heavy substance and before long the glass that forms along his body begins to weigh him down, so in addition to potentially locking up joints, as the shards grow the burden gets heavier and heavier, and will inevitably get too bulky for his muscles to support. It should be noted that these shards can be dismissed in the same way as the glass Matthias normally creates, but doing so will simply expose the damage the shards cause as they expand, leaving open wounds in their wake. In this way he can reduce the weight on his body if absolutely necessary, but at the cost causing himself more grievous injuries and potentially bleeding out. If the glass within his body is not dismissed, it slowly deteriorates on its own, completely breaking down after a period of 10 posts without using his quirk.

Matthias has always been naturally gifted when it comes to keeping a cool head in a tense situation. With years of experience, he's managed to combine that with trained attentiveness and quick thinking to calmly keep stock of his surroundings and react to whatever situation may present itself..

SUMMARY:

Having found a specialization in wilderness survival and rescue, Matthias frequently has to take jobs that involve looking for lost travelers or dealing with the more interesting quirk-powered animals that have popped up across the world. He's gotten quite good at it.

SUMMARY:

Back in high school, Matthias found out he had a knack for using a bow and arrow. Turns out that having good aim is pretty useful when you're working as a hero too.

NAME: Glasswork Brawler
RANK/LEVEL: A
SUMMARY:

While not particularly specialized in any one weapon, Matthias has developed a close range fighting style that takes full advantage of his quirk's ability to spontaneously generate equipment on the fly. Constantly swapping from one style to another, he aims to keep his opponents off balance and adapt as the situation calls for it.
