The letter would arrive folded in a blood red envelope and sealed with a wax like substance emblazoned with a trio of strange, angular eyes. It bore no return address and no named salutation on the outside cover; it would need to be opened to reveal its contents. Inside the envelope were two things: a brass key on a spartan steel ring, and a neatly folded letter with its message inscribed in immaculate red ink.
Kurisu Himei,
You are cordially invited to the Lazy Day Internet Cafe in Akihabara prefecture, for a private audience with the villain Walpurgisnacht. Come alone and use the provided key to enter through the front door. You are expected promptly at the hour of midnight. Come alone, and ensure that you are not followed.
Kind regards.
Celica had bribed a middle school ruffian to deliver the letter directly to the P.O. box some week or so ago; she wanted it to arrive with enough time that the girl who fashioned herself the name of Marachne would be sure to receive it and respond accordingly. She desired very much to speak with this girl who fashioned herself a fledgling villain -- and so she sat, unguarded and unarmed, in a shadowy corner of the otherwise closed internet cafe at the appointed time.
Still, one could not be too careful; though Celica had watched this villain site for some time, there was still a nonzero possibility that this particular admin may well be a plant meant to lure in criminal elements. Idly, she checked the handheld security monitor that she had purchased online some weeks ago; the small cameras that she had set up at the nearby major intersections showed no sign of police or hero activity. She smiled to herself; at the very least, she thought, the night would not end with her being arrested.
Now she simply waited to see if the girl would have the gumption to appear.
"You've dwelled on your web for some time now, little spider," Celica hummed to herself absentmindedly, shifting a bloodstone nail between the spaces of her fingers in a fashion reminiscent of the way a gambler might toy with a poker chip. "Let us see if your resolve extends beyond your refuge."
