As everyone sprang into action, Ren did his best to stay on top of everything that was happening. Daiki apparently had a plan of some sort that he would be helping with, but until the signal came his job was to try to keep Kosei pinned down. Easier said than done, of course. He had an idea or two, but after seeing the man level a building he was starting to doubt just how effective he'd be at even slowing the guy down. "Hey, you said your quirk makes things softer, right?" He asked Yawai over his shoulder. "What does that do the thing's durability?" If she could just make something more pliable while retaining its natural toughness, then maybe, just maybe there was something that they could do...
Before the boy could get his answer however, the redheaded teacher flung something down the street and into a telephone pole. Even more to watch out for then... Luckily Isamu seemed to be on top of the situation there, but a moment later Itsuka joined in the destruction. As the hydrant erupted and began to flood the street, Ren started to move without thinking. Even with his designated task, he understood that it was technically a secondary priority here. Their primary job was always to save as many people as possible. Rushing through the curtain of spray, the blonde felt himself get soaked through before he managed to plant his foot on the side of the wrecked hydrant and send a burst of cold through it. Spreading up through the impromptu fountain in a wave, the water froze in mid flight and created arcing shapes that might have actually been visually appealing if any of them had the time to appreciate the display. But no, their hands were far too full for that. Ren glanced over the now frozen street and snapped his fingers, breaking up the ice in a few places to free some bots that had been caught up in the flash freeze.
No sooner had he taken care of that problem when Ren heard a shout from back over by the professors. He was pretty sure that the point of a code word was that it wasn't supposed to stand out so much, but oh well. Glancing back over he could see Daiki charging directly at Itsuka, and he thought he might understand what his classmate was thinking with this maneuver. Maybe it would actually work? Either way Ren did as he was instructed, channeling frost to his hand and then pressing it to the pavement. As he let the energy loose however, he saw the 1-B teacher interpose himself in front of Daiki's attack and take the blow. Not ideal, but there was no stopping now, and as the ice shot out across the ground Ren fed more power into it rather than trying to stop short. A wall burst upward between Daiki and Itsuka on a path that would have it completely encasing Kosei as it rose. He made it as formidable as his stamina would allow, rising about two meters high and nearly a meter thick. It wasn't particularly wide, but it was supposed to be a shield, right? Somehow he doubted that would be enough to take the former villain out of play, but a barrier like that wasn't exactly trivial even for someone as strong as Itsuka.
