A 6 foot tall English Goddess of light brown hair, vibrantly blue eyes, and a mastery of fashion - Ava is everything one might want, or, as the Iron Maiden, could hope to avoid. Between her intellect and her body, Bell has what she does for a living down to a virtual science. While her lithe, but visible musculature helped propel her to victory for a decade in gymnastics - despite her reaching a height of 6 feet tall by the time she was 15 - turning her muscles into national heroes, Ava’s face has assisted in beguiling all the right people for her more civilian endeavors. Legs for days is an understatement if anyone is being honest, her skill and Quirk paired with her height providing a key toolset for intimidation in her more villainous persona.
Walking with the confidence that one might expect out of a successful athlete-turned-warrior-academic, she has a pose game that is an excellent companion to how she carries herself - especially as her lethally seductive Iron Maiden persona. Her style is distinct as either Ava andthe Iron Maiden, and her willingness to do what is necessary is often visible just behind whatever face she has put on. It’s clear that Ava is sharp from just talking to her. Precise word use, and a certainty in herself put her experience on the front row for viewers at home and in front of her alike.

PERSONALITY
LIKES + Lawyers - well, only somewhat. It mostly depends on the person, but in general lawyers provide an invaluable service for people of her predispositions. Ava isn’t stupid. It will take effort to bring down her criminal enterprise, and more than just arresting or even imprisoning her.+ Reading + Working + Exercising + Kids - + Coffee - French style, preferably. Japan’s coffee-flavored sweets and foods are nice, too. Anything but American coffee is just grand. + Cats - Ava has had a pet cat for her entire life. Her first cat’s name was Smittens. + Discovering, or borrowing, new ways to integrate pins and other such spikes into various items. + Walnuts + Dried fruit + Long-lasting, high-quality goods (especially handmade ones. Those are a bit of a rarity nowadays, though) + The finer things (AKA money and what it can buy - but only in + Order, though, of course, applied chaos always has a purpose both in and out of war + Squid ink noodles + Blues, blacks, and reds + Fashion + Painting (she paints in acrylics) + Daydreaming (she’s in her head a lot) + Reminiscing + The Iron Underground + Her family. She and her husband are quite the couple, too - dangerous, chic, and killing it. They have | DISLIKES + Police Brutality + Abuses of Power + Tyranny + That heroes aren’t more strenuously controlled + Addictive Drugs + Idiots who make the world out to be black or white + Arrogance. Bell is fully aware of what she’s capable of, and what she isn’t, and expects others to be much the same. + Frozen Yogurt. It is largely inferior to ice cream and gelato. + Bread and butter pickles + Microwave and similar meals (they remind her too much of rations… plus she’s a bit spoiled) + Fresh apples and pears. She won’t even eat them peeled, covered in caramel, or candied. She just doesn’t like to. She likes them dried, however. + Eggs without an acid on top |
RUMOR/SECRET: | Rumor has it, the Iron Maiden is looking to establish a more permanent hierarchy in her training system, upscale it, and create the first villain academy - mirroring the hero academies. But where, you ask? Probably more than one place. After all, Quirks exist the world over… but, yeah, in Japan first. |
Paragraphical Likes
Bell has a soft spot for children, and will be gentler with someone the younger they are. Doesn’t mean they’re immune to dying if they become a big enough problem, though, but killing kids under 12 is a no-go for the Iron Underground as a whole - and leniency is often given to anyone under 16.
The Iron Underground is her baby. Bell never became a hero, and never started a hero agency. Instead she took her education and life experiences, founding the direct opposite - a villain agency that doubles as the umbrella organization for a number of ventured nestles under it. That villain agency/organization would be the Iron Underground, with the core agency at the center functioning as leadership. She’s put a lot of work into it, too - for over a decade and a half, the IU has been a leading light (and, admittedly, probably one of the only lights) for discrete Quirk guidance, with some of the world’s foremost experts and/or their knowledge purchasable separately as “modules” or in packages, providing education to children, and a discrete way to pursue Quirk marriages without people realizing it by providing + counseling (genetic, personal),+ alibis for meeting times, dates, memorable events (there is an option for them to be genuinely provided, providing the most realistic expression of family possible, and generally it’s not too much extra as it provides options; the full package, however, includes more exclusive options. Basically, it’s possible to have a 9 month long honeymoon where all of your needs and wants are provided to by the Underground if you have enough money) + guiding people on how to behave like a “proper” couple (perfection is never the goal. Realism is), and how to bake this into every day things (for the health of the child, of course), + someone to teach the child, + specifically selected doctors, psychiatrists, and therapists can be provided if requested or if necessary (people pay the IU to be ‘advertised’, so + and connecting prospective suitors as well as other individuals in the business to provide a boutique wellness, childcare, and general success business. It isn’t just a way to rope in heroes (or potential heroes), and learn more about them - but a way to create more healthy Quirk marriages. All of this is still, of course, for payment, though some payment could be deferred for samples of their DNA and the child’s (for record keeping and future medical care; it includes stem cells for replacing organs, teeth, et cetera). They can even provide playmates, and connect young heroes to each other, and other heroes from the customer and product base, providing an additional service that people are unlikely to overcome over time! This can get expensive, however, depending on additional services: Quirk-bearing surrogates, at-home nurses, tutors that can benefit the child in some way are extra, and they may amplify or modify the Quirk of the child in the womb, enhance potential through exposure, provide accelerated learning, and more. Able to determine how powerful a child will be early in a pregnancy (in reality, she could probably get a 98% accurate reconstructed genome, thus providing some idea of how powerful a child will be in the connection process, but that reduces the number of naturally occurring recruits by a significant sum. The number is based on real science, too - 98% is the RL number. It’s just expensive right now. This service is is on a “secret menu” (you have to ask for it. It’s not advertised, or outright offered), and the DNA samples help make up for the lost potential of the program), and, if not wanted, extract said child to a growth tube (most people aren’t aware of what happens during the so-called “extraction” process. It’s likely called something else), provide egg and sperm storage services (as well as the capacity to make money by participating in selling them to other people), and more, the service is not only extensive, but increasingly valuable and widespread. It’s likely that you’ve run across at least one person who has used one of the services provided by IU, even if it’s most likely to be in part. Essentially, it’s the perfect service, even without the package, and in case any of the Quirk-bearing workers get old - their DNA samples and stem cells are in storage. What most people don’t know, however, is that this provides more than a genetic analysis and medical treatment service through the DNA sampling - the DNA sampling fuels a roaring genetics division that hosts what has grown into the a library (hidden in pockets; keeping everything in one place would be disastrously stupid) of Quirk-bearing DNA. It has probably eliminated or replaced Quirk concubines in some places, presumably because it’s easier to access, likely cheaper (at least in packages; also no kidnapping or shipment), and makes you feel less shitty. See? She was right. Crime does have benefits. Canonically, Iron babies are a maximum of 16 years old due to a preliminary program that occurred within the first year of the then-simply-called-Underground. Please note that Iron babies are those who have no traditional guardians - those that were given up, extracted, or created specifically to be Iron babies. OOC: I can’t wait to start recruiting.
Paragraphical Dislike
People assuming that motherhood was the best thing that happened to her. It’s been an amazing experience, but it’s also been a difficult one. It sounds selfish, but Ava had never intended to become a mother in the first place. Puck changed that, and then when she met her husband that changed again.
On addictive drugs: The Iron Underground only offers the kind of thing that you want to party with, and then drop to get to your day-to-day work again. Party drugs, basically, are what they push. This isn’t just out of the goodness of Ava’s heart, though. Addictive drugs have a tendency to ruin the lives of young people - the most valuable members of society, both to Ava (and her criminal enterprise) and others. Why would she want a centuries-old opiod to destroy the life of someone with a useful Quirk? Do you even know what can happen to your Quirk if you destroy your body with Fentanyl and manage to survive? And in their territory? Pushing an opioid or something worse? Be careful. You might get your reputation ruined, yourself in jail, or worse - pinned. The Bell Clinic’s rehab program is essentially free of charge for most due to how many impoverished or otherwise poor individuals are disproportionately affected by addictive drugs, the program easily kept afloat by paying clients and various government and international subsidies and donations. For clarification, however, she does sell bad stuff - it’s just usually arms, tech, party drugs, chemistry-on-demand, rented out mercenaries, specialists, manufacturers, facilities, and other services. Basically, you name it - just no dope. To defeat addiction, the Bell Clinic has gone all out, and has a division focused on creating, researching, and dispensing addiction vaccines (which I assure you will be very real in the future) in the world.
Arbitrary concepts of good and evil. Is a hero soldier any less of a good person because they had to kill to prevent a terrorist from taking out 2,000 citizens of the Crown? No. Is Bell any less of a good person because she lies to pursue her own wants and needs? Probably. Does she care? No. Does she advise bringing it up? No. She operates in a morally gray area. Is a hero less of a good person because they keep themselves sponsorable rather than doing what is morally right? Fuck yes.
Heroes inflicting civilian or youth casualties (which they often do even when it is unnecessary, and going far past “acceptable losses”). This, and the protection that heroes enjoy, is her primary gripe with the Hero Association. She’s a soldier. She can de escalate easily, but she also knows the consequences of not doing so - of never being able to take a lethal shot against someone with a powerful Quirk: casualties and property destruction, sometimes on a large scale.
Personality
Ava Bell - the name has been around for a while, now - longer than her SAS operating name ‘the Spike’, and the younger alias ‘Iron Maiden’, both of which carry a reputation of someone dangerous and precise with them, and, generally, more or less equally mysterious - but the actions, at least the ones sports fans and business rivals read about (personally, Ava likes to listen to her news and other important things through a discrete single-ear speaker/mic. She can pull up graphics or video on her phone if she needs to, but her digital assistant is more than clear-sounding enough to make it an enjoyable accent), don’t give you the full picture. Perhaps this should be more official sounding, but I guess it’s irrelevant since no one else will ever see this. So, let’s start with how Ms. Bell, which is how she prefers to be referred as when it comes to her honorifics even as a married woman, sees herself - not a hero (a word that has been sullied by abusers of their privilege), or a villain in the common sense (certainly something similar in the legal sense, however), but a philanthropist businesswoman elected by fate and necessity to represent, and lead, the poor, downtrodden, fed up, and the ambitious. Sure, she’s a criminal, a hell of a recruiter (something that can become easier with those she represents), but she’s also a soldier. It’s just that this time around she’s giving herself the orders. And noble? Only somewhat, and only in certain areas. All in all, though? Nah. Ava doesn’t consider herself ‘noble’, or a knight in shining armor. Never has.
Bell is, admittedly, the worst kind of criminal. She’s not psychotic. She’s not explicitly evil. What she is however is smart, educated by war, 4 decades of life experiences, and extensively proper schooling of the highest order. What she is would be competent, cunning, sly, whatever you want to call it. She’s dangerous, she’s well-resourced, she has lots of friends - and defeating her in battle just to arrest her probably won’t see her in a jail cell for very long, or her operations ended. To take Bell down you need to figure out a way to strangle her with the loopholes, otherwise it’s already too late and all you’ve done is reveal yourself as her next target. She keeps a tarot, you know. It’s ever-growing. There are three. The tarot book has a set for recruitment or alliance, a set of enemies, and a miscellaneous set that holds whoever doesn’t fit in the arrows - with each individual’s or organization’s known capabilities, likes, dislikes, whatever, listed in the Iron Underground’s extensive database. Bell is also, likely purposefully, quite meticulous, and it’s a skill that comes in handy for running a business - illicit or not.
Precise and uncluttered, Bell never does things simply because she can. Even her materialism is guided and well thought out. She may be sentimental, especially about the past, and has actually kept around some old things that she has no need for, anymore. This is one of a handful of weaknesses that Bell has allowed herself to keep, and she is never foolish about it. She doesn’t keep anything incriminating anywhere the authorities would think to look. Ava additionally limits this. She doesn’t hoard anything, either, for that matter - not even money. Spending money on research, recruitment, providing for the needs of the recipients of her generosity? That is a useful investment, as are actual investments, and occasionally loans. Born out of a healthy desire of self-improvement, Bell’s self-criticism, however, soon became something else - it is still capable of being healthy, but it has also left Bell unable to easily accept failure. This doesn’t mean she’s going to handle it like an unstable or anger-prone individual would - in fact, Bell’s capacity to keep calm and make the necessary decisions is almost disturbing, or would be if you couldn’t see for herself where she has genuine heart - but it can hit her hard, including and up to additional drinking, of which Bell likes to partake (she also likes to eat - quite a lot, but her body can handle it due to its accelerated metabolism and dietary needs).
Ava’s case is one of illustrious privilege and self-serving corruption featuring a corruptor with a heart of copper. She really does want a better world. The problem is, it has to be better for her, too.

OTHER: | Puck Bell (adopted son/half-brother; it’s up to their future player if their character has added the Oshiro name to the end of Bell) | Mary Anne Bell-Oshiro | Mitsuo Bell-Oshiro (son) | For clarification, she named the daughter, and he named the son | The family has a pet Savannah-breed cat named Tango | Clan le D'Aboville (extended family) | Iron babies (the result of the Iron Underground’s ventures into, broadly, wellness, healthcare, genetics, biochemistry, medicine, and more - specifically those who don’t exactly have traditional guardians. Caretakers are likely provided, however, but still, for some Iron Maiden is an important figure in their life.) |
This is where the largest part of your app goes, the history of your character. Don't be afraid to go into detail, the more detailed the more established your character is. A character that has worked themselves up the ranks is more likely to have a more detailed historical biography. Try to keep it 200 word minimum for basic lower-level characters. Also keep things as realistic as possible, tragedy does not automatically create interesting characters nor does extremism (for every 17 year old school girl that has murdered 40 people in a single year without detection a puppy dies, keep this in mind). Have fun with it though~
THE ARMORY
+ Burner phone(s), usually encrypted and identical to the phone below
+ Encrypted BGK Phone - capable of projecting interactive holograms for various utilitarian purposes (keyboard, etc; no combat purpose). Essentially a mobile computer. Never used outside of her civilian identity. Please note that this is a high level encryption. This isn’t 2019. It connects only when in use (you’d have to hack it while it is in use, and spoof the display to say it was unconnected when not in use. Of course, it is more vulnerable because she regularly uses it for music, or reading news articles, through her discrete ear phone - personal use on what should be a business phone, a privilege that will likely be adjusted if a hack is noticed (and, eventually, it probably will be, even if they can’t trace it). Obviously, as she doesn’t know how to access and properly read its meta data, the spoof is safe from detection. A technician will have to determine a hack in one of the regular security check-ups/touch-ups), and is designed for someone with access to sensitive material (her phone can be used to access weapon schematics created by BGK, for example). It can virtually only be opened through a combination of facial recognition, keystrokes, retinal scans, voice print, and heartbeat, or something that mimics it. Of course, her burner phones have different combinations to avoid revealing her identity if the data is accessed and thus, ironically, are less secure.
+ Cestus - The gauntlets include the ancient Roman boxing glove called a cestus. Though her fingers are left able to maneuver, strikes with her cestus can significantly amplify the damage of her strikes while protecting her hands. They also have pins that can be mechanically deployed to handle blades more easily. They reach up to the forearms, to help protect against heavy blows. These weapons make Bell’s strikes devastating, and, like in ancient times, often times a single strike from a cestus from a trained user will incapacitate most fighters.
+ PR-Goedendag 3 (Pin Rifle), AKA “the Lancer” - A custom-built semi-automatic/triple or double burst/full automatic high-powered rifle, the Pin Rifle is pre-equipped with a 36-round magazine of bo shuriken-inspired munitions. The AP-rounds can burst through common personal armors without much problem. Aside from that though, it is basically a normal, somewhat futuristic rifle that hits like one - fully stabilized, able to shoot the pins faster and further than Bell can do so manually (by quite a bit), featuring an inline suppressor and flash suppressor as well as an infrared laser visible to the Pin Mask that can be activated by Ava for targeting, or set to ‘paint’ a target with a different spectrum of (harmless) radiation for location, air strikes, etc. Capable of operating in virtually all environments (space, underwater), this 25th century firearm has a second barrel on top that can function as either a 12-gauge shotgun or a grenade launcher with a 3 round capacity (based off of a real gun, as is most of the stuff in the Goedendag 3). About the size of a normal, every-day carry infantryman rifle in the 21st century, this is in fact a lightweight but operationally flexible design able to be used by a marksman or infantryman alike - though a skilled sniper will certainly take better shots no matter the tech in it - featuring lighter bullets that fly further and hit harder than those of the early 21st and 20th centuries, a lightweight composite build, and the capacity to be an absolute beast in Bell’s hands. Highly modular, its casing size can be switched in the field, its magazine can be swapped out with a heavier barrel that has in excess of 100 rounds to function as a squad support weapon, and each of its components can be swapped out for something similar, but with different or superior performance - meaning that the Goedendag 3 will likely be in service for years with Ava. Basically, it is a fully operational weapon of war.
+ Weaknesses - Ava does not normally carry a 100 round magazine with her. That will have to be specifically brought for a mission, otherwise it will expend its magazine too quickly. Also, if Ava does anything with her munition other than shoot it, she’s depleting combat potential.
+ The Mask of the Iron Maiden - The mask is a durable mask, which appears to be porcelain, with pins on it. When she becomes unconscious, the pins begin to extend - reaching a total length of about 10 meters, and branching out to stab anyone in between the pins. The mask has smart glasses built into it. Aside from containing self-polarizing corrective lenses, something that Bell started wearing about 5 years ago to prevent herself from losing anymore of her eyesight and to protect her vision from bright lights, they also contain smart technology that can allow for night vision, infrared detection (both essential for targeting an opponent), and can track projectiles in the environment, pull up files on voice command to view in the HUD or be read out, and zoom as far as any scope - even those specialized for marksmanship, which the mask is (and for concealing the identity) - while adjusting layout/interface for whatever weapon Ava is using, including her pins. Lastly, the mask is capable of masking Bell’s voice, accent, and inflections, and changing it to something else - Bell speaks in a still female baritone American midwestern accent (or non-accent depending on your viewpoint) when wearing the mask. The sensors to track projectiles are only in the mask, and she doesn't wear anything substantial enough to carry additional sensors - so within the "sight" of the mask is where the sensors track things. The mask an advanced atmospheric filter that can draw air out of water. Rest assured that, like everything else in Ava’s app, the mask stabbing thingy has a solution. I just won’t tell you all the solutions, except for the phone one and as follows: isolate the area, guard exits, cut through with the proper tools, and wait for her to wake up restrained, identified, and in custody. There are other ways to avoid or get around it, too (the function doesn’t work if the mask is damaged enough. You don’t even have to break it. You just have to screw it up. See? More hints). All it does it guarantee some time is bought. It’s up to her enemy to outthink her sole countermeasure.
+ Rapid Threader - Part of Iron Maiden’s battle dress, this can thread Ava’s needles, and connect these to an anchor on the threader. Up to 10 needles can be threaded and connected at a time. The rapid threader can rapidly draw needles in, as well, allowing Ava to quickly traverse her environment - including urban ones, with little to no difficulty traversing their vastness. This can be used as long as Ava can manipulate her needles.
+ 4 Explosive Devices - 1 brick of C4 and the equipment necessary to use it multiple times (you never use an entire brick of C4 for precise applications. This just means she has multiple detonators and stuffs). 3 smoke grenades (emits an infrared blocking, vision-obscuring smoke filled with single-purpose, unconnected nanites that send information about positions and interactions within the smoke to Mask of the Iron Maiden); equipped in rifle. All of Ava’s grenades are modified with a spike at the tip, which begins cylindrically and then terminates in a point, allowing her to manipulate their direction.
+ Iron Maiden’s Battle Dress (Wearable Mock-up) - this 3D printed armor, with a red gem instead of a yellow one, rides over a red silken underlayer similar to the top of the red dress here. Just underneath the underlayer is a belt. One of the pouches is larger than the rest, and right next to an equally large pouch - these contain the equipment for the C4. THe grav-bandolier rests within inline the 3D printed armor and belt, and these are where the explosive devices rest. This 3D printed part of the battle dress is not yet protective, and is simply a wearable mock-up. Similar elements are likely to be added on the arms, with the red underlayer’s sleeves likely to be shortened, and legs, eventually while the mock-up component of the battle dress will be replaced with a functionally protective element and the underlayer and all other fabric replaced with a durable, treated spider silk weave and other protective elements - with the gem joined by other similar elements, and replaced by functional sensors that appear to be jewelry. The leggings of the battle dress are red and of the same lightly metallic golden tone as the 3D printed element over the underlayer. It contains the sensors necessary to monitor vital signs. Basically, this is, at the moment, just a mockup. It is clothing, essentially. It will eventually be used to inspire fully functional armor, but at the moment it does nothing except conceal identity and create the Iron Maiden persona.

QUIRK & SKILLS
PIN UP!
TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: A-rank
Note for Self: Rough Potential. Obviously will be edited, but has some good ideas for the future.
SUMMARY: Pin Up! is a bit of a strange Quirk that allows for the manipulation of pre-existing pins, needles, quills, and spikes - even if they are arranged into a different object or are part of a different object, such as a clothing article, a nail, or certain types of weapons (such as throwing spears (EG javelins), arrows - both of which she can make “versions” of - and other things) - as well as the generation of her own, however Ava cannot weave her pins, needles, or spikes into different items. The pins that Ava makes (able to be generated from any part of her body; however, they usually manifest just above her clothes) allow her to generate needles, pins, and spikes of up to impressive length, although the smaller these pins are the more that Ava is capable of creating. Ava is able to manipulate these pins from a range of up to 25 meters, and can make and manipulate up to 36 of these pins simultaneously as long as each is under 50 centimeters long. She can manipulate 18 pins at triple that length (2.5 meters), 9 pins at 7.5 meters, 4 pins at 22.5 meters, and 2 pins at 67.5 meters, while she can manipulate a single pin at double that final length. Interestingly, some of her spikes are longer than her manipulation range - meaning she is only manipulating a portion of them to achieve a certain effect, and may be better off creating her longest spike underneath her feet to achieve something, or acting as a centerpoint for a circling pair of 67.5 meter spikes (or tossing them out past her manipulation range if she thinks that she can make the shot). Ava is capable of using these pins defensively as well, with her mask and marksmanship skills allowing her to intercept projectiles that don’t move too fast for her to detect to knock them out of the sky with her pins, or to create needles that protrude from just above her skin to defend from physical contact. Of course, if the thing being defended against gets through the initial pins, Ava hasn’t yet mastered the skill of branching - generating additional spiked points on a pin across its length, or even connecting pins to each other this way - and the likelihood of it getting through skyrockets, as she is still defending herself with pins. Ava is capable of using Pin Manipulation for travel - she can maneuver using needles threaded to her Auto-threader, or is capable of flattening a needle facing her and ascending upwards to travel on needles through walking. Essentially, she can travel as far as needle stilts and her stamina, or threaded needles, would allow her to. Ava can manipulate the texture, color, length, width (up to a maximum width of half a meter for pins up to 7.5 meters, of a meter for pins up to 22.5 meters, of 1.5 meters for pins of 67.5 meters, and of 2 meters for pins that are longer; the width can radiate up or down the length, causing the pin to become thicker or thinner as you go down or up it; thin enough that they are difficult for the human eye to see - of course, it’s not like wire traps work in the same way some people think that they do), the shape of the non-pointed (sphere, such as on a pin, flat (can be large enough to hold a person, like her, with some), blunted, second point, needle hole) the hardness and softness (up to her maximum pin durability, as soft as gelatin), the edge sharpness (up to as sharp as the edge of an object at that specific pin's hardness/softness can feasibly be), and the curve (both physical curve and their trajectory; she can fold a needle in half if she needs to) of her pins after they have already been made or launched, telekinetically controlling them from a distance at speeds of up to 95 MPH (about 15 miles faster than some Pro baseball players) with them able to instantaneously stop, turn around, and such. Speed Ratio: + smallest - 95 mph, + 2.5 meters - 80 mph, + 7.5 meters - 65 mph, + 22.5 meters - 50 mph, + 67.5 - 35 mph, largest - 20 mph.
Ava can produce her pins at levels up to as durable as titanium. When tested to determine the material that the pins Ava emits are composed of, the result is a mixture of elements and compounds commonly found in the body and those that aren’t, sometimes in different ratios to produce different hardnesses, softnesses, and malleability - even post-generation through modulation. Able to be like a gelatin or as capable as titanium, they might slip through a crack before becoming lethall again, be used non-lethally but still to drive someone away, or they might there is no discernible result - they simply exist, and then they don’t. Iron Maiden’s 50 cm are capable of penetrating the human skull without much problem at full speed. She can use her pins to block a sword, use the ball side of a pin as a bludgeon, block superstrong punches at larger sizes, crush through brick. Her pins are about as strong as titanium - her largest spike can likely easily knock down a building, while she can generally lift about 90 kilograms with her spikes (total); this means that it’s unlikely she will be able to carry anyone on her threaded needles unless they’re a small child.
The Iron Maiden can shift any pin’s type to that of a needle or similar type without problem as a standard part of her manipulations, letting her create traps that lock those who aren’t careful in uncomfortable positions. Please note that Ava does not have to emit her spikes pointed side first; she can emit, say, 10 sideways to block a sword in CQC and then emit a spike or two in a punch as a counterattack. What this means is that, essentially, Ava can produce 10, 50 centimeter long spikes and use that number to block a sword because they’ll have their two ends pointing to the sides of the sword rather than towards the blade and the rear/front towards Ava, and then she can counterattack with a motion to deliver one or two spikes into the opponent (though she doesn’t need this motion to attack, it does help keeping her training and “combat motion” intact).
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
+ Origins - Ava’s spikes still originate from her body, even if slightly in front of it and from any part whether or not she has clothes or armor on, and thus can their origin can be determined with a simple test - people can also have their origin determined through Quirks, vision, et cetera. As she can’t yet make her pins invisible (she’s tried. It only sort of works. She’ll get there eventually, though. All she has to do is make them absent of color and make then transparent. She can already change color. She just can’t make it go away. Unfortunately it’s harder than it sounds), determining their origin in combat is to remain possible for now. That doesn’t solve them having to go through things, however, or the origin of a spike being determined from body wounds.
+ Ava has no resistance to her own pins, meaning that someone could just as easily impale her on one as she could impale them on one. She has had many accidents over her career, including near-deaths. She has a scar on her abdomen that terminates on the opposite side of her body - her back - indicating that she’s suffered from a serious injury linked to her ability. In fact, Ava has no enhanced resistance at all. She is exactly perfectly human save for her ability to skewer people to death with her mind.
+ Hazard - Bell’s largest spikes are hazardous to everyone, including Bell and her allies. She has to be extremely careful with how she applies them. An example would be using them indoors - there is a big chance of self-injury.
+ The pins in Ava’s weapons have physical substance, and could be theoretically manipulated by someone with the right Quirk (specifically, they are bullet-like bo shuriken composed of a tungsten-titanium alloy), like telekinesis or metallokinesis.
+ Pin Durability - Though the pins are theoretically pretty durable, many this often isn’t universally true. The right quirk or weapon could easily cut through a longer pin from the side rather than from any other part.
+ No defensive attire - Bell has virtually no defensive attire. She hasn’t ever needed it, and prefers to remain as fashionable as possible at all times. This problem will likely only be gotten rid of should she suffer a defeat explicitly because of her lack of defensive attire.
+ Growth Problem - Ava is unable grow pins not created by her ability or in a special facility. The material to grow them (read: not extend) simply doesn’t exist. She can extend them, yes, but she can’t amplify their size. She can shrink them, too, but creating giant pins is time-consuming, incredibly expensive for some materials, requires highly specialized equipment, and should be done beforehand so that they can be shrunken down and extended as needed in battle. Please note that any facilities she has that can fulfill this role are kept under an alias. Ava is far from an idiot, after all.
+ No Pluses for the Smalls - Manipulating pins of 25 cm or under doesn’t yet double Ava’s needles. That will have to be done once she learns how to properly manage her exertion levels at those lengths. After that, the number of pins she can manipulate in a thread will likely grow.
+ Ava can make and/or manipulate a total of 50 pins in a thread before exhausting her ability (including those that she removes from play after creation). Once she does this, she will be left with migraines, double vision, and a strange reduction of various minerals in the body that can be attributed to her losing material that had stored said minerals. It will become necessary, but not quite easy, to quickly escape to prevent from being captured by any arriving support units for a hero (like police) once this happens - likely to a safe place where she can slip into her civilian attire and retreat to receive medical attention. The effects of mineral loss last a lot longer than the other, more temporary effects, and overuse of Ava’s powers over long periods of time could have serious consequences for her physical health - in general, this also requires her to consume a diet higher than normal in both essential and nonessential minerals and vitamins (about 5 times higher, actually. Her body contains a far greater concentration of these substances than a normal person). After exerting herself, Ava is likely more fragile than a normal human - her skin able to be pierced more easily, and her bones more vulnerable to breaks. This is because Bell’s ability is an accumulation-type quirk in that Ava gathers and compresses spatial energies within her body, emits them, and, dangerously, that her body requires these spatial energies to properly function and hold shape. It has been theorized by a Quirk analytics scientist employed by the British government that draining Ava of these energies could kill her, as her body may be held together by “hidden” pins, needles, quills, and spikes active at all times (viewable only through special methods). Of course, learning to control these hidden spatial energies that compose Ava’s body may be beneficial - but is also impossible to do without assistance, such as from technology, that Ava does not currently possess and has no idea how to acquire (or even who could make such a specialized type of technology). Although manipulating herself could easily go bad - obviously a part of her needs to retain intact to do anything like that. It sounds exceedingly painful, and the result may not be beneficial enough to counteract this. Severe maladies that emulate diseases like osteoporosis may occur for short periods of time, but, thankfully, Ava is capable of rapidly absorbing minerals into the pins lacing her flesh together to recover after they are replenished.
+ Big Spike Time Limit - While Ava can activate a total of 50 spikes per thread, she can keep each spike active active only for a specific time. She keep her largest spike active for 1 posts (135m and smaller, and can generate it 3 times per thread). Her second largest spikes (67.5 m and smaller) can be active for 2 (generated 6 times per thread), her third (22.5 meters and smaller) for 3 (18 times per thread), her fourth (7.5m and smaller) for 4 (30 times per thread) smaller, her fifth for 5 (2.5 m and smaller. 42 times per thread), and her smallest for 6 (50 cm and smaller. 50 times per thread). After this, they will disperse based on size and how long ago they were emitted. So, if she has her fourth largest active as well as her smallest, the former will disperse before the latter.

MARKSMANSHIP
RANK/LEVEL: A-rank
SUMMARY: Ava is an expert markswoman and combat shooter with skills in firearms as well as the use of her Pins as projectiles (read: this is not a throwing skill). Though not quite a record-breaking markswoman, Ava is still capable of hitting the center of an apple on someone’s head from quite a distance away with the right equipment, such as a scope. She has retained this and some other skills (see below) from her time in the SAS, but the others have fallen into disuse and disappeared. She has intense levels with firearms and other projectiles (if she can find a way to use them), allowing her to competently hit a target from distances in excess of 1,000 to 2,000+ meters (1,000 via pistol; over 2,800 with the right rifle), or to hit a target while she herself is maneuvering in an environment - essentially, whatever the maximum distance of a firearm is, she can probably hit even a moving target at the end of its range, at ranges a little lower than the maximum recorded range. Due to her skill, and due to being female (fun fact: being female can allow one to be a better sniper due to biology), Bell is likely one of the most capable markspeople - no matter their gender - alive at the moment. For clarification, Bell took her first shot at age 16, and her first trained punch at age 7, and has rapidly improved since then. For those who think that this skill is useless in Bell’s civilian persona due to Japan’s laws - you are incorrect. In fact, Bell is certified by the Japanese government to own a shotgun for hunting and competition, a process which you can read about here - while she can’t shoot you with it unless you show up with assault weapons to her home and she has already called the police, she can just punch, kick, or choke you into submission (although violence in Japan is only warranted when unavoidable - the risk to life has to be apparent, such as someone who has bragged about being a master martial artist attacking someone, or using a bat). She is also certified to own a rifle, which she is allowed due to her competition shooting and due to having shown her expertise - something she enjoys now that she is no longer a gymnast, which can be read about here.
SAS-borne MMA
RANK/LEVEL: B+
SUMMARY: Though largely kept secret from the public - with former and current SAS members barred from revealing their martial arts - Bell still practices and continues to refine a mixed martial art that, for her, is a base of kickboxing with various moves borrowed from judo, boxing, Brazilian and Japanese jiu-jutsu, Karate, and Aikido (similarly diverse to other nation’s spec-ops’ MMA training). - with numerous moves borrowed from over half a dozen separate styles. It has been combined into a highly holistic, single self-defense style with enough versatility to deliver brain damage or capture an opponent, and often with enough skill to take on some armed combatants. Whether she need to strike, throw, target pressure points, or employ joint locks, Bell is capable of handling herself in close combat. Of course, her base is still kickboxing, with this and the addition of boxing to the style providing a balanced approach to what Taekwondo and boxing can do with the benefit of being augmented by her ability to project spikes - she is also better at punching than most kickboxers due to this. Imagine a normal kick, and then imagine that same kick with spikes by the side ready to go into an opponent. Bell’s skills are equivalent to any single practitioner of boxing, kickboxing, or taekwondo - though excelling in different areas, such as practicality and versatility. This is due to her extensive combat experience. She’s seen more than just street fights. She’s seen the battlefield, and is a far more intimidating foe for it. Of course, she also packs more oomph in both her kicks and punches, even if she isn’t as fast at kicking as someone using Taekwondo - and with or without her cestus can generally incapacitate the average person within a few strikes (often just one). For clarification, her style has punches, higher kicks, low kicks, knee strikes, elbows, and grappling maneuvers as well as the other things mentioned here. For clarification, Bell took her first shot at age 16, and her first trained punch at age 7, and has rapidly improved since then. While not as skilled at any one thing as a specialist, Bell is more than capable of handling equally or inferiorly skilled opponents with her martial arts. This doesn’t mean that she’s a master in each of these, but she doesn’t need to be to handle equally skilled opponents.
GYMNASTICS
RANK/LEVEL: B-rank (formerly S-rank)
SUMMARY: When she was younger, Ava Bell was the Simone Biles of this century, and, more than likely, the next. A borderline superhuman athlete that pushed the limits of what people saw as humanly possible, she Great Britain into dominance of the field of gymnastics from age 12 to age 22, and, in her later years as a competitive athlete, primarily performed in the parkour section that FIG fought to add to the Olympics in the 21st century (an event that is starting to look very likely). The truth was that Bell was athletic excellence given human form. Genetically predestined to the life of a predator, Bell was instead born into a civilized world, and did things that not many people have done before in the entire span of the history of competitive gymnastics. As her age progressed and she suffered injuries from her growing abilities, Bell lost her competitive edge, but that doesn’t mean the 42 year old athlete is giving up. Her muscles may ache sooner, but Bell is still one hell of a gymnast. Unfortunately, she will never go past A-rank with her Gymnastics skill ever again - not without intervention from a quirk, anyway. Possessing immaculate balance and extremely high levels of coordination thanks to the combined result of her skills, Bell’s gymnastics still pose a threat to any opponents despite her raising age. Her record, though? That’s still a bit unassailable. Bell won Gold in virtually every competition that she ever entered into, and is considered one of the all-time best gymnasts to compete - a wonder considering how tall she is. Used in an urban environment, it looks a lot like parkour - with a flourish, that is, and often in heels (this is likely because Bell has been trained in all things that fall under competition gymnastics: parkour, artistic gymnastics, trampolining and tumbling, and rhythmic gymnastics, though the one that she uses the most nowadays is the former). Bell has always been described as “deceptively agile”, something she used to lethal effects against the enemies of the Crown (and, more importantly, the British people). Suffice it to say, between the flips, cartwheels, other aspects of parkour/gymnastics, MMA, and needles, Bell’s combat style is highly mobile.
Medical Doctor - specialist in interrogation
RANK/LEVEL: A-rank
SUMMARY: Ava was the lead interrogator of her spec-ops unit, applying anatomical knowledge, skill in psychology, and an intimate knowledge of which drugs will put someone into the wanted altered stage of consciousness before she completed her doctoral program. Now, possessing degrees in psychiatry and biochemistry, and having minored in psychology - acquired during her time as a member of the SAS and afterwards in Japan - Bell is likely one of the most intimidating figures in interrogation alive thanks to her understanding of anatomy and physiology, and how the body responds to different elements. She can elicit knowledge from people without pain that they would never otherwise tell, induce panic in groups by commanding a hacker group to take control of devices with speakers and lock them into emitting dangerous frequencies, and more. Dangerous, sly, and as ruthless as she needs to be, Ava is a hell of a threat on and off the battlefield - and if she can get you in a safe place (for her, not for you) to interrogate ya? When someone uses knowledge like she does, their enemies might as well be prepared to give up. Basically, she applies her medical knowledge in specific ways. This does not, however, guarantee that interrogation will work. That will be determined by in-character events. After all, where do you think all of your interrogation techniques came from? Medical specialists and masters of the mind. What do your best interrogators have? Training, possibly from some sort of book or person who is using knowledge from these individuals. It’s simply how Ava chooses to apply her knowledge and privilege that makes her a particularly nasty breed of interrogator - she abandoned her oath. It just wasn’t working out for her. She actively uses this skill as part of her second most sizable asset (the first is split somewhat evenly between her shares in BGK (Bell Gibson Kelley, a multinational company), and the Iron Underground) - the Bell Clinic, which has programs to teach athletics, and which she may or may not use the dividends/paycheck of to have created the resources necessary to first provide training to those more illicit-prone individuals, and is now used as an asset to clean cash, before founding the Iron Underground as a larger entity, providing, for those who can afford it, equipment , with the IU also providing access to services such as hidden manufacturing facilities, loans, the cleaning of money, advisement and networking (largely linked to Western-originating groups and materials, with some establishment in Japan. Establishing a stronger networking base within Japan and other Eastern points, such as Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, and others, is of paramount importance.), trafficking, medical access (fees are waived for first-time emergencies, and depending on the circumstances [such as a service to the Iron Underground, or a tussle with one of their enemies]), and various other aspects of organized crime.
