[googlefont=Open+Sans] I think it's time to blow this scene [attr="class","firstfriend"] Get everybody and their stuff together t had been raining hard that night. Even in the terrible weather and the darkness of the night the city was still much alive though. Plenty of people still up and about their business. If this were a less populated area of the country Bai might have thought that anyone out this late would be up to no good, but considering the population of a place like Tokyo there could be any number of reasons for a person to out and about when others might be asleep. For Bai of course the reason was simple. Her shift had just ended. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, nothing all that interesting had happened tonight. At least nothing that she was assigned to. Part of her was starting to think that with her physical limitations that the chief was purposefully keeping her from working any case that was too dangerous. After all, she had almost died last time she worked such a case, and another encounter even half as deadly would probably be the end of her.
For the moment though she had other things to worry about. Or more accurately things she wanted not to worry about. Another year had come and gone with her social life being none the better. Sure she could blame being in the hospital for some of that, but really she had been spending so much time at her job that she hardly had anyone she could even call a friend. Not to mention anything close to resembling a romantic life. And she was twenty five now, meaning she didn’t have much longer before she could be considered a proper Christmas cake. The festive atmosphere of this time of year didn’t help that feeling either.
And so, as any proper detective does when they’re stressed out, Bai decided to ease away that stress with alcohol. Being in Tokyo there was no shortage of bars she could find. That was one thing she did love about this city. Plenty of proper cocktail bars that still evoked that old 1940’s era style. Bartenders in vests and bowties, and all kinds of mixed drinks to make you forget you were drinking alcohol. Knowing of just the place it only took a few minutes for Bai to find herself entering the establishment. The place was set up on one of the higher floors of the building it was in, having an incredible view of the city skyline as two of the walls were entirely windowed with long tables set along them to be able to look outside while one drank. One wall contained a cutout with a stage, currently unoccupied and instead soft jazz music was playing from speakers hidden around the place. The final wall was where the bar was.
This late at night there weren’t many patrons inside and a single bartender was on duty. Finding herself a spot near the end of the bar in order to look out onto the city Bai ordered herself a double whisky and began drinking as she let the atmosphere of the place and the booze in her hand start to help ease away the tensions of life.

"I need a bloody drink..."
Sora grumbled to herself as she stepped out of the alleyway, pausing a moment before she ventured back out into the rain. Yet another night of trying to track down her stolen shipment and the bastard that ran off with it. Yet another dead end and a room full of battered and beaten gang members for her troubles... Sure, that wolf lady had held up her end of the bargain and was helping track down leads, but Tokyo was a big city and there were only two of them... and it certainly didn't help that she couldn't even remember the asshole's name most of the time. That being said, they had made some decent progress so far, about half of the weapons had been recovered, but with each raid their foes were becoming more and more cautious. Tonight's mission in particular hadn't exactly gone smoothly. While she was confident enough that she could take out just about anybody if she got the drop on them, the red head wasn't exactly... quiet, and when there were enough people around things tended to escalate a bit. As skilled as she was, not even she could walk away from a mob of over a dozen armed thugs completely unscathed.
To put it simply, Sora was a bit of a mess. Her cloak was in tatters, her fatigues were peppered with bullet holes, and she had collected quite a few new cut and bruises over the course of the evening. Oh, and of course she was soaked through by the rain, but hey, at least that helped wash away most of the blood. The only real bright side to the whole affair was that she'd gotten another lead after looking the place over, a name of someone the gang was planning to sell to. If she could get to them first, then maybe they could come to an 'agreement' concerning their mutual acquaintance. Given the hour, that'd have to wait until at least tomorrow though. For the time being, the former hero would have loved to beat the living crap out of someone and blow of some steam, but since Valhalla was closed and that wasn't really an option, a drink would have to do.
This wasn't a part of town that Sora was particularly familiar with, but a quick search found a bar that was within walking distance. She swapped out her cloak for an old leather jacket to help stand out less and hide the damage. There wasn't much she could do about the trousers, but luckily they were in a lot better shape than her top, just a few tears around the legs that could potentially be written off as 'fashion'. If she actually cared enough to lie about it.
Even after cleaning up a little she still got a couple odd looks as she made her way down the street, but she wasn't the type to care about that. Fifteen minutes later, the redhead stepped out of the elevator and into the bar. Certainly a higher class establishment than Sora was used to, with sharply dressed staff and a smooth, clean decor that was far removed from the holes she frequented. Still, a bar was a bar and she could get what she needed here. Approaching the barkeep, she leaned onto the counter and lightly tapped the wooden surface to get the man's attention.
"Evenin' mate. Shot a' whiskey, if ya please. Not real picky 'bout th' label right now." The man gave her a polite nod and fetched the bottle. As soon as the glass was in front of her, Sora scooped it up and gave the bartender a quick salute before gunning it back. "Cheers, mate."

[googlefont=Open+Sans] I think it's time to blow this scene [attr="class","firstfriend"] Get everybody and their stuff together t didn’t take long for Bai to down the drink that was in front of her. She hadn't specified what she wanted so she didn’t get anything too fancy. Of course the purpose of her drinking wasn’t really to enjoy what was in front of her and explore the intricate flavors there in. Right now she was looking to feel the alcohol. And so she ordered another pretty much as soon as her first was finished. Flagging down the bartender she said rather simply, “same thing, make it a double.” And sure enough the well dressed bartender did just that.
The sound of the door opening was met by a small chime to alert the staff, though almost as by instinct Bai took a glance over to get a bearing on whoever might have just walked in. In that moment she was keenly aware of what she was doing, and it made the weight of the pieces of body armor inside her green jacket somehow stand out more than it normally did. Even when she was trying to relax she couldn’t manage to work out that part of her that was still scared of every little noise or jump. While her body had healed as much as it was going to, the wounds left on her psyche still felt fresh. The look of the redhead who walked in ticked some kind of box in Bai’s subconscious. She couldn’t say what, or why but something told her that she should be wary of this person. In the more conscious parts of her thought she knew she recognized the face though couldn’t quite recall from where.
Slamming back what was left in the rocks glass in her hand Bai took a quick, deep breath as she decided to get ahead of this. Whatever had sounded the alarm bells in her mind needed to be figured out. She was off duty and as such didn’t have her sidearm. Meaning she had no way to fight back if things went sour. And considering raw statistics the chances that she was the only person in this room who was quirkless was pretty high. Waving down the bartender she noticed the bottle of whisky in his hands was the same that he had been pouring for her. “The whole bottle,” she said while pointing to the quarter empty container. For a second the bartender seemed to hesitate. This wasn’t exactly the kind of establishment where people would do such a thing, as it was more of a cocktail bar. But as Bai produced her wallet and plenty enough cash the man simply put the bottle in front of her and bowed slightly.
Pouring herself another glass of the stuff she turned towards the redheaded newcomer. Looking the person over a bit more, it was difficult to determine which way to refer to them, and so Bai simply decided not to. “Care to join me? Better to have company while drinking, don’t you think?”

As Sora shot her whiskey back, she could feel that oh so welcome burn in the back of her throat, traveling down and collecting in a mass that warmed the pit of her stomach. Yep, that was what she needed right now, the flavour was neither here nor there, but a few more of those would do nicely. The irritations of the evening would become distant memories, and with her track record, she'd honestly be lucky if she ever remembered after that. That'd be just fine, wouldn't it? Well, as long as the rest of the job got done at least. Those guns were still her responsibility, and no one was going to get away with trying to screw her over.
She was just about to take a seat and ask the bartender for the bottle when someone further down the bar beat her to it. The twinge of annoyance in she felt at having her drink stolen was hidden by the less than thrilled expression that she was wearing when she came in. Glancing over, she saw a smaller woman with black hair already pouring herself out a fresh glass. Not a threatening looking thing by any real stretch, but Sora knew full well not to judge people by appearances. She taught others that lesson herself often enough. In any case she was lucky tonight, It seemed this lady was actually feeling rather charitable, and the invitation that was extended almost instantly replaced Sora's irritable scowl with a more amused smirk. "Now I can't right turn down a fine offer like that, now can I? 'Specially when it's from a pretty lass that's holdin' th' drink hostage."
She hadn't been expecting to have any company on this dreary evening, but it was certainly a welcome surprise. Even when her temper was at it's worst, the redhead almost never turned down a chance at a drinking companion. After sliding her shot glass back to the bartender and requesting a rocks glass of her own, Sora dropped into the stool beside the other woman and made herself comfortable. "They call me Ari, who do I owe th' pleasure of a free glass on this bloody rotten evening?" She asked as she pulled out her braid and let her long fiery hair fall over her shoulders, still mostly soaked from the rain. The name she gave was the nickname they called her at her usual bar; it was the only one that came to mind at the moment and it worked well enough. A stranger probably wouldn't believe that she couldn't remember her real name most days anyway.
As she waited for a response, the man behind the counter set down a fresh glass with a single large chunk of ice in it, leading Sora to reach for the bottle and pour herself out a double of her own, assuming her new companion let her.

[googlefont=Open+Sans] I think it's time to blow this scene [attr="class","firstfriend"] Get everybody and their stuff together t was a gamble for sure. Bai still didn’t know why this random readhead set off alarm bells in her head but her gut told her this was the best play. It was slightly annoying but that was overshadowed by the excitement she felt. As much as it stressed her out she loved working a case trying to find villains though good old fashioned detective work. She couldn’t exactly fight in a physical sense so she had to use her brain to overcome just about anything, especially now.
The change of facial expression was most definitely a good sign. While she knew the average person might react in a similar manner she knew all too well that some people just don’t react to things in the same way most would. The accent was instantly recognizable as being from Osaka. Well that was one clue as to why they would be making Bai’s nerves stand on end. As the stranger came over to join her the small detective took a long sip of her drink. It was kind of funny, even when she was nervous about something she could hold her composure like a brick wall. She wasn’t the Tokyo department’s best interrogator for nothing after all.
“Name’s Bai Zheng,” she introduced herself as the redhead sat down next to her. The name given, Ari, seemed reasonable enough though she wouldn’t be surprised if it was a fake. While the face wasn’t exactly one she could recall immediately Bai had a thing for names. As they began to pour themselves a glass Bai finished off what was left in her own. Already she could feel the effects of the alcohol on her system. Internally she scolded herself for drinking on an empty stomach. “Something tells me you’ve had it worse off than I have. Unless you also happen to have spent the whole day stuck behind a desk with nothing to do,” Bai said while pouring herself another drink. She knew it was a risky play to let herself get past tipsy right now but she couldn’t stop drinking now. If nothing else she’d go see what she could do about downing some cheap street food after this and hopefully sober up quickly.

"Well then, it's certainly a pleasure t' make yer acquaintance, Miss Bai." Sora said as she poured herself out a drink, filling the glass so that the giant chunk of ice was almost completely submerged within the amber liquid. At her side, the woman finished another glass herself and the redhead passed the bottle back over with a chuckle. This lady could really put away her drink it seemed, and hopefully she had the stomach to support the tendency. Sora herself had quite a hard time getting drunk, and that was when she was actively trying. If she was trying to avoid getting hammered, it was basically impossible. There was a vague memory of someone explaining it to her that occasionally rose to the surface, though she almost never remembered who it was. Something about how her body adapted to support her quirk, rapidly breaking down toxins or something like that to counter the fact that her insides turned to metal so often. The science was lost on her, all she knew was that even if she was hitting the bottle something fierce, she still struggled to get past the buzz.
Sora picked up her glass and started idly swirling it about as Bai asked about her evening. All she could really do was give a halfhearted shrug at the observation. Something inside still said to keep her guard up around this one, not that she could say what she was actually up to this evening to a stranger anyway. "Oh, you know it is, love. Long hours, rubbish weather, an' some right lousy company." Not to mention a few hard knocks, she thought, unconsciously rubbing a nasty bruise that had formed along her ribs. Even if she could effectively make herself bulletproof, a shotgun at point blank wasn't exactly a fun experience. At least not when she wasn't the one pulling the trigger. "'Least my choice of companions has improved recently." The former hero added with a smile that masked the discomfort of the injury. Once Bai finished refilling her glass, she raised up her own drink and held it out.
"Cheers."
With a sharp clink, Sora finally tipped her drink back and proceeded to drain about three quarters of it before setting it back onto the bar. Again that pleasant burn gave way to the growing warmth in her stomach, and the nights irritations moved a bit further away. And they'd go even further away if she could manage to change the topic of conversation a bit. "An' so how does th' lass find her way t' a bar by herself? Can't just be bored like ya say, eh? There 're plenty a' better ways t' entertain yerself than sittin' alone, miss Bai."
