RUMOR: | [False] "If you plug a controller into her, you can control her!" |
Kyla is definitely more the nerdy type. She enjoys spending her time online and in games rather than doing more physical or social activities. With hobbies that include gaming, streaming, programmer, and the such, she isn't the most open or outward person there is. She tends to socialize cautiously, giving very little while listening to a lot. In the end, however, Kyla is a pretty honest person. She'll say how she feels and isn't afraid of hurting someone else's feelings, which can act to her detriment sometimes. She isn't shy about making comments under her breath and can be more judgmental than usual. She does like watching others though. Part of the reason Kyla enjoys dramas so much is because she likes to see how others act and react to the lives of others. Intense stories and relationships are entertaining for her.
Kyla's goal lie in quite a few things, but most of all she just doesn't want to be lonely. After being thrown away by two different families and burying herself in her online life, Kyla does want more contact with others even if she doesn't know how to go about it. Part of the reason she wants to become a hero is to become more well known and force herself with interact with more people on a human level. Between that she streaming, Kyla hopes to blossom just enough that she doesn't have this lonely feeling anymore. That doesn't mean she intends to be some kind of extroverted social butterfly. She doesn't feel as though that would fit her at all.
When it comes to others, Kyla tends to fit them into a trope. She knows that everyone is unique in their own way, but she finds it easier to deal with them by doing that. She will adjust categories as needed, but Kyla feels like she wants a grip on what a person is in very early into an interaction with them. What other people think of her doesn't bother Kyla too much. Given the time she spent online, she is used to many different forms of annoyance, trolls, and radical personalities. She handles insults and wit pretty well and isn't at all afraid of abandoning conversation if it goes sour. After all, she can always escape into her games.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | Honolulu, Hawaii |
PARENTS: | Akira & Trudy Casey |
SIBLINGS: | Six Adopted Siblings |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | N/A |
OTHER: | N/A |
Kyla was born of a couple with two conflicting ideas. One wanted to start a family while the other wanted to advance their career. And her birth was what put an end to their relationship altogether. Her mother was a woman that saw a bright future for herself. She was moving up in her career path and generally happy with what she had. A home on a beautiful island, a fulfilling job, and a husband that were very attractive to her. She was happy just to have him around and in her life for when she needed him. Kyla's father was happy too. He had a wife that was driven and seemed to have everything in order. And while he was far from as successful as she was, he felt fulfilled in adding what little support that he could. He hoped to help out more once they started a family, but as time passed that goal seemed further and further out of reach. It was just never the right time or she was never ready to take the time off needed to do such a thing.
But then, it happened. The mistake that led to Kyla's conception. Her father was stoked, but her mother was immediately filled with dread. This wasn't within the plan at all and she couldn't deal with this right now. There were too many important things going on at work and things she didn't want to miss out on. Her father's sweet words and looks were the only thing that convinced her mother to keep the baby despite her issues with it all. But in doing so, resentment started to build. Kyla's mother started to see opportunities pass her by because she was going to be out of the workforce for a few months. Thing she worked hard for and set up were being taken from her all because of this man she called her husband. He went from being fun to becoming a burden.
Her last hope was that somehow her mind would change once her daughter was born. That in some way all the rumors were true and seeing that baby would change how she felt about everything. But after Kyla was born, her mother just couldn't see it. All she saw was extra responsibilities and missed chances. All she wanted was to move up in her job and have her husband to come home to. But now things were far more complicated when they didn't have to be. It all could have been fixed months ago if she wasn't convinced by him. So the rift between her parents grew and growing anger and hatred built between them. It eventually led to their divorce and it was a nasty one.
Her ex-husband had taken so much from her in this whole order and now she was going to have to pay him even more of what she earned. So she fought to shine him in a bad and irresponsible light. She was going to deny him the one this he wanted like he had done to her. And so after a long battle Kyla's mother gained sole custody of Kyla and used the courts to remove her ex-husband's rights as the father. He had nothing to offer Kyla's mother anyway. And now, Kyla's mother only had to do the thing she should have done those many years ago. Shed the last thing that was holding her back. And so, Kyla was given up by her mother effectively becoming a child with no parents. It was the final stab at her ex-husband for messing things up so badly.
Kyla became a ward of the state at age four. She looked after by a few sponsored homes before settling in a new orphanage of sorts that had just opened up. It had very few kinds and seemed to be a legitimate place for the child to be placed. It was here that the girl would be raised. She, along with six other children, were taken care of and taught, but not on the best way. The woman running the place had an insidious plan for the children. She wanted to improve and grow their quirks from a young age and work them very hard for that. Kyla never understood why, but not knowing anything else she obeyed. Not knowing her morals, she listened and learned the opposite side. That villains were oppressed by the heroes of today and they needed to be stopped. Deep down, it didn't seem right, but any time she had doubts the woman was quick to point out that her words were the correct ones.
Trouble occurred early, however. Kyla's quirk was not an easy one to understand or discover. Her ability to remotely access technology was useful but not in the vain of direct manipulation that her guardian had hoped. There were much better technology based quirks out there and if Kyla wasn't able to improve she wouldn't be of much use. Because of this, she was sometimes excluded from or pushed harder than the other children. It made her feel bullied even though the only aggressor was her guardian rather than the other children.
With her affinity for machines and technology, they were Kyla's natural retreat. She spent a lot of time as a child on computers and the internet to escape her rough conditions she was in now. And this had a key role in the development of her personality and her discovery of what heroes and villains were actually like. With the way she felt mistreated and lonely, she plotted her own learning, seperate from what her guardian was teaching her. She delved deep into her hobbies over interaction with other people, including those that she lived with. And even though she had people she spoke to online, it wasn't the same as having actual friends and family.
During this time, Kyla learned quite a few things, especially about her quirk. The technology her quirk affected didn't do much more than what she was able to do. But if she was able to set up a program capable of interfacing with it correctly, she had much finer control over the tech. She started to practice making special devices that she could control with her quirk and that was what she hid away from her guardian. But with limited funds and material, there wasn't all that much she could do. The girl had so many ideas, but so little resources to make it come true. She needed a way to make money and raise funds in pursuit of her goals. And she needed to do it all without her guardian finding out. This was how Kyla attempted to become a streamer. And while she still is she is far from popular or well known.
Unfornately, everything came to a head has Kyla entered high school. Her guardian was fed up with putting her effort into someone that showed no promise. And the plan to sent Kyla elsewhere was put into effect by the woman. But what surprised Kyla the most was that the woman's own daughter stood up for Kyla. It was odd to her. She never felt the two of them were especially close and Kyla's guardian always put her own daughter first before any of the other children. So where was all of this coming from. It resulted in a large incident and the woman's daughter being sent away. And when the girl was leaving, she offered to take Kyla with her. Kyla didn't know if it was because she was being pitied or if it was for a purely spiteful reason, but Kyla took the girl up on the offer and snuck away to Japan with her. Now the two of them continue their pursuit of improving their quirks and possibly, even becoming heroes.
THE ARMORY
Hero Costume - Kyla's hero costume, by all accounts, is just normal clothing. However, it is equipped with places for her H.L.S. to hook up to for when she is not controlling them with her quirk. The costume also has two small battery packs sewn into the hood for her to charge things with when necessary.
Hexad Lens System - Kyla has programmed a set of six lenses with her quirk. It allows for her to control and position them remotely around her. The must stay within a foot of her body to be controlled and are capable of floating by being polarized to Kyla's own body. Each lens can fire a small weak laser, but the light and effectiveness of the laser diffuse after about ten feet making them the same as a pointing laser. The key to the gadget is to overlap lasers, allowing one lens to fire into the other to create something strong enough to hurt someone.
A.I.D.A. Enhanced Smartphone - Kyla has enhanced her smartphone with her quirk, allowing her to use it remotely and accessing features of the phone without her direct interaction. The A.I.D.A. program lets Kyla project what is on the screen of her phone above it, like a projector.

QUIRK & SKILLS
Advanced Interface Direct Adminastration
TYPE: Mutation
RANK/LEVEL: C
SUMMARY:
Kyla has a technology-based mutation. Her mind is effectively half machine. While she looks normal for the mode part, she had a set of lens nodes on her head that represent her quirk's mutation. Her quirk has her mind is half of a computer and allows it to interact with technology that can be remotely accessed. This means that she can not just move or control any device or piece of tech at all. It needs to be open like a computer would be to a WiFi connection. Even in that case, she has limited control and access to that device. She can only interact with it the way a normal user would. However, where A.I.D.A. truly shines is in the fact that she can gain more intricate control over a device with the A.I.D.A system installed. It will allow her to perform functions that the device normally wouldn't allow excess too. It also lets her control a piece of tech or devices beyond what is normal, like making it float close to her. Because of her mutation, Kyla's diet is different. It has an extra category of literal electricity. It must be ingested through her A.I.D.A. node and she must eat her fill at least once a week. While her nodes can take in solar power, it is only enough to prevent physical failure and not ever enough to power her quirk. A good "meal" will usually last her about ten posts of heavy combat.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
Kyla's quirk offers her some unique and bothersome weaknesses. For one, she has to introduce electricity into her diet. Her quirk runs off of it and without any, she can't use her quirk well. It will have about half the range and power and she can only fight for about two posts with it. A full "meal of electricity gets her about ten posts of heavy combat as a comparison. Like feeling any other hunger, Kyla will feel the same effects when not getting enough electricity in her diet. Her quirk can feed of solar power, but this is only enough for her to not starve as long as she eats other foods. It isn't enough to feed the use of her quirk at all. Because of the unique makeup of Kyla's quirk, she is resistant to mind control. Her mind is half machine, which can resist a psychic assault. But that also leaves her open to hacking, which is basically the same thing but her the machine half of her mind. While she can resist it with the organic side of her mind, it is a danger for her and one more common than mind control is. If someone is able to access her nodes physically and input malicious code, it is dangerous for Kyla. Finally, her mutation is an obvious and ever-present weak point for attack. It must always be exposed unless covered and connected to a battery of some kind. An attack to the nodes on her head effectively serve as critical damage to Kyla. As Kyla becomes tired and overexerts herself with her quirk her body will start to feel the repercussions like a muscle would. Her head will ache, become sore, and be sensitive. Using her quirk will be half as effective in power and range just like a punch or kick would be weaker from a tired person.

Programming
RANK/LEVEL: C
SUMMARY:
Kyla has taught herself how to program at a decent level. How not taught formally, she has practiced through trial and errors with the aid of online materials to be able to do something. Her skill is far from that of a professional, but she has enough to develop her own program to work along side her quirk. Her ability to create the A.I.D.A. program is a testament to her growing skill and proficiency.
Engineering
RANK/LEVEL: C
SUMMARY:
Kyla's ability has inspired her to mess around and practice with making electronic devices. She has learned the basics of engineering and has started to put it into practice as a method of improving her quirk and giving her capable of something to use as a hero. She is no professional by any means, but she understands it on a level higher than the average nobody would. With it, she created the H.L.S. and plans to experiement with improving the system as she learns more.
