Wolff-san would sing, utilizing his Quirk to formulate ice into a stand for the mic. It was a clever usage of his Quirk, and one that Ryuga immediately found intriguing. It showed a nice bit of cleverness, and of course the blonde was good with his hands as that bass guitar was played out. But the whole time, he could only imagine a golden retriever playing a bass guitar, and singing. He was pretty good. Hell, everyone here was better at singing than she was. Satou-san entered the room with little noise, sneaking in effectively as a whisper on the wind, and while he did wave, Ryuga made her same smile, and held a hand and waved it. Another to join the party. The room had been spacious enough, and while Daiki was surely one of the bigger guys (muscle-wise), the more the merrier, right? And then to put back the bar up top yet again, Tomoshibi-san decided to push it just a little further. Ryuga wasn't too competitive, but sheesh. She had to pull out the stops on this next one. And then he wanted to do a duet? Alright. That just meant she and Raphael would do a duet, and thankfully? She knew the song. As a means to set the bar at least an inch higher, Ryuga grinned. "I know Sunday's Secret, Seraphine-san." she gave a warm smile, and didn't even need to be told to pick up the mic. She went with it. Even if it was another love song... Huh. It was, wasn't it? Didn't matter, Ryuga was actually attempting to sound more appealing than last time. She didn't try to upstage Raphael, just match him. ... was Raphael always that cute? As the song went on, Ryuga almost found it flattering that this was a duet between the two of them. It may have been a love song, but it surely wasn't taken that way. Probably. Raphael was a sweet guy, after all, and anyone who had this sung with would think the same. "Can we meet up on Sunday?" Message sent- on FridayEven though you are in front of me, Our little secret, it's kind of funnyIf it's text, it's natural! I can even add stamps, easy! The big day comes, Sunday Can't break the formalities, we are getting nowhereI wonder why? Even though it's a mish-mash, It was fun, and I laughed a lotOur shoulders, Slowly get closerIt was at this point that, to try and make the song just that bit more spicy and raise the bar, that Ryuga did, in fact, take a step closer to Raphael. In an attempt to, at the very least, try and set that bar just a little more. Her orange globes looking into his lavender globes. She didn't need to see the screen. Well, she could have. But as she looked, there was a little heat on her cheeks. Heart rate increase... she grabbed Raphael with one hand and pulled him up onto the table with her. If only, for a moment, to sing for her and him as the world would watch. I want to see you more, Because we are friends? Can we hold hands? It's okay, To at least just imagine stuff like that, right? Aaah...Things you are bad at, The bad things about you, Tell me, even your secretsHowever you may really be, I want to be The perfect match for youWhat will happen...?There was a bit of laughter, as even the smallest twinkle in her eye showed that there was no need to be professional here. Even the concept of beating Tomoshibi-san seemed pointless, as all she wanted was to have fun. She liked this. Singing with friends. Singing with everyone here, the people all did things in such different and unique ways. She liked this. And as she danced with Raphael, she liked... When we are together, alone, I can laugh naturallyFun secrets keep growing...Maybe, I want to be your special person, "Is it okay to have you to myself?" I pinch your flushed cheeks, And hide my embarrassment
Even though we are now boyfriend and girlfriend, We can't tell anyoneLet me keep, Our secret, okay? Please be my side, always, Can you spoil me, just a bit?So no one will notice, I smile naturally, "Good morning."When things are hard, promise me you'll tell me something funnyLeave it to me, I'm gonna start, Being that ideal loverYoroshiku neAs the last note left her, she hadn't realized her heart had been pumping so hard. And as she looked to Raphael, and even rubbed her arm, she began to make a cough, and put the mic down. Giving him a very satisfied smile, she went to sit back down, a little closer to Futaba now. She didn't realize it, but she let the mood hit her and take her during that song. In that moment, she wasn't the hard-working dragon girl with a villain father. She was a teenage girl with a crush.

Watching all the others sing and enjoy themselves transported Fu into a good mood. This was a good time. She really did not expect much as she had never gone to one of these places. She remembered her parents talking about karaoke bars but that was it. Her Onii-chan did not tell her about what Karaoke bars were. Not that he would. He probably disapproved of her going out. Probably thought something would happen to her. Regardless, his feelings did not matter on the subject. What mattered was having fun in the present. Like before , she got up again. She had left the room to look for something particular. Going back to the front desk, Fu asked if she could rent an instrument. The cashier nodded, pulling up the list of things she could rent. Seeing a guitar on the list, Fu pointed at it. Handing over a few yen for the rental, the girl went to the back again and handed her the instrument. After explaining where to plug it in to, the cashier went off to some other things. Returning back to the room, now with a guitar, Fu noticed that she had missed a coouple performances. Ryuga-san had just finished a duet with one of her classmates. Disappointed a bit that she did not get to witness it, she waited for anyone else to step up. After a few moments, no one seemed to have stepped up. Going up the the machine, she search another song. She knew how to play some songs on the guitar. The principle was not too different from the koto. Plus, it sounded more modern and probably got her more favours than her koto playing. After selecting the song, she plugged in the instrument. Taking a deep breath, she put the microphone into the microphone-stand. Pressing play, she started nodding along with the simple drum beat. Moving her fingers across the board, she started playing the lead guitar. Peaking at her hands just to make sure she was playing correctly, Fu started to sing. "You say you stand by your man Tell me something I don't understand You said you love me and that's a fact And then you left me, said you felt trapped"At each harmonica note, Fu nodded her head as if she was playing with an actual band. "Well some things you can explain away But the heartache's in me till this day Did you stand by me No, not at all Did you stand by me No way
All the times When we were close I'll remember these things the most I see all my dreams come tumbling down I can't be happy without you around So all alone I keep the wolves at bay And there is only one thing that I can say
Did you stand by me No, not at all Did you stand by me No way
You must explain why this must be Did you lie when you spoke to me Did you stand by me
No, not at all Now I got a job But it don't pay I need new clothes I need somewhere to stay But without all these things I can do But without your love I won't make it through But you don't understand my point of view I suppose there's nothing I can do
Did you stand by me No, not at all Did you stand by me No way Did you stand by me No, not at all Did you stand by me No way
You must explain why this must be
Did you lie when you spoke to me? Did you stand by me Did you stand by me No, not at all Did you stand by me No way Did you stand by me No, not at all Did you stand by me No way"As she finished, she finished with a bit of a flourish. This was a fun experience.

Post by Ren Wolff on Jan 27, 2019 16:18:27 GMT
As Ren settled back into his spot on the couch, it took him a moment to realize that there was an extra person in the room. "Hey Satou-San, glad you could make it." He greeted his classmate with a wave before he paused, taken aback slightly at how relaxed this atmosphere was. He'd never really interacted with other people his age like this before, it was always just keep your mouth shut, try to avoid drawing attention, and endure. But this was entirely different, he was hanging out with his classmates, actively engaging and actually enjoying himself while he did it. It was odd just how... comfortable it all felt. these people could actually be his friends, couldn't they? He couldn't help but smile to himself a bit, for the first time feeling the lingering nervousness about coming to this school completely fade away.
Ren was pulled out of his inner dialogue as Jun got up to take another turn at the microphone. It seemed that the kid wanted him to make a prop for his performance, and Ren really didn't have a reason to refuse. A cane was a more simple shape than the mic stand, so making it wasn't a big deal. Clapping his hands together again, he repeated the motion he did before with the stand, drawing out his ice into the proper shape before handing it off to his classmate. Following the trend set with his first song, Jun proceeded to put on another impressive performance as he twirled about the cane with style. A part of him wondered if he should ask the boy to teach him to dance some time, it really did look like a lot of fun.
As the show got passed along to Raphael and Ryuga for a duet, Ren quietly excused himself from the room to grab a drink. As he walked up to the counter and made his order, he noticed Futaba had also ducked out. Seeing the guy behind the counter grab something from a storage closet and hand it to the girl, Ren couldn't help but be a bit curious. A guitar huh? Did that mean that she knew how to play as well? He'd have to remember that later on. Based on her previous song choice he figured she might have pretty similar tastes as him, and if that was true maybe they could play together sometime. As the girl made her way back toward the room, Ren grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge in the corner and took a long draw after he paid the cashier. By the time he slipped back in, Futaba had already started her song, yet more western music adding to his suspicions about musical preference. She already had a decent voice, but she turned out to be pretty good with the guitar too, might have even had more practice at it than he did.
When the girl finished, Ren took his cue to go next, gathering up his bass again before quickly scanning for another song he knew how to play. With one set, he got back into position behind the stand and counted off.
Plucking away right from the start, Ren focused on shifting his fingers back and forth across the frets while his head nodded along with the rhythm. While the guitar did go a bit ham from time to time, the bass line for this one wasn't particularly hard. It was actually one of the first songs he'd taught himself how to play, but the constant stream of notes and slides meant that it was still a lot of fun to play.
"Home in the valley Home in the city Home isn't pretty Ain't no home for me
Home in the darkness Home on the highway Home isn't my way Home will never be
Burn out the day Burn out the night I can't see no reason to put up a fight I'm living for giving the devil his due And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
Time is the essence Time is the season Time ain't no reason Got no time to slow
Time everlasting Time to play b-sides Time ain't on my side Time I'll never know
Burn out the day Burn out the night I'm not the one to tell you what's wrong or what's right I've seen signs of what freezing their eyes went through Well I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
Burn out the day Burn out the night I can't see no reason to put up a fight I'm living for giving the devil his due And I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you
I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you I'm burning, I'm burning, I'm burning for you"
With the final chorus coming to and end, Ren pulled the microphone back out of the stand and tossed it to Daiki, figuring that the late arrival hadn't actually had a chance to take a turn yet. He rested his bass back against the side of the couch as he sat back down beside Jun, finding himself a bit curious as to what the resident freight train would pick. He always saw the boy listening to music through his headphones, but he didn't actually know what he listened to.

Daiki fumbled as he went to catch the microphone. With some light booms from the speakers that weren't really hard on the ears, he managed to get it into his right hand. Well, that meant it was his turn. This was going to be interesting! A nice atmosphere, people doing duets all around him. It was kind of weird to go up there alone, but weird was his territory so, back off punks. He'd stand up with a silly grin on his face, apparently whatever he was thinking was going to be funny. He'd speak up towards the group as he moved up to select his song, walking kind of backwards.
"Alright, I'm glad I could make it for this. I guess you guys have probably seen me with headphones in once or twice, I love music haha. It carries meaning and tells stories. So without further ado, I'll sing you one of my favorites. Thanks for having me, Hoden-san."
He took in a deep breath. Perhaps by now they might be suspicious, that the person they painted in their heads wasn't just a mascot, he was a real person with more complexity than dynamic entrances and loud sounds. His finger scrolled through the options, and eventually he resorted to a search. It would come up, a song which already set the tone before it even started. Daiki went towards the side of the room, dimming the lights a little bit to set the mood some more. Then he moved towards the place he'd be singing. Tapping the song, it came up on the screen.
amazarashi - 僕が死のうと思ったのは (英訳+振り仮名) || The Reason I Wanted To Die (English Lyrics + Furigana)
He stood silent as the song started to play, the words hadn't come yet, but he just paced his foot to the beat.
"The reason I wanted to die, Was that the seagulls were squawking down the wharf, They floated at the mercy of the waves, Peck away at my past, too, before you fly off."
The mood was officially set for the song, taking another breath, he continued to channel his passion into his singing. He had an amazing voice, he was no singer, but there was passion in what he was singing. It wasn't the reciting of lyrics, it was a story that he'd bonded and found parallels too in some way or another.
"The reason I wanted to die, Was that our apricot tree blossomed on my birthday, When I dozed off in its dappled sunlight, I wondered if I could join all the dead bugs and return to dust."
"Peppermint candy. The lamplight of a fishing harbor. A rusted arch bridge, a discarded bicycle. In front of a stove in a wooden station building, But there's nowhere my heart can embark, Today was exactly the same as yesterday, 'If you want to change tomorrow, you have to change today.' 'I get that. I get it. But still.'"
Daiki rolled his shoulders, taking a deep breath. At this point he was singing partly with his eyes closed, immersed in the delivery of it all. A magnificent chorus that made his body tingle, it just felt so nice, a feeling that can't really be matched. Self expression, building character, sharing the deeper parts of yourself. He continued.
"The reason I wanted to die, Was that my heart had become hollow, The reason I wanted to cry about how unsatisfied I am, Is surely because I'm wishing for fulfillment."
"The reason I wanted to die, Was that my shoelaces had come untied, I was never really good at re-tying them, My relationships with others are that way, too."
"The reason I wanted to die, Was that a teenager was staring right at me. And now I'm prostrated atop my bed, Apologizing to my younger self."
"The dim light of the computer. The ambient noise from the floors above. A bird-caged boy, plugging his ears to block out the intercom chime. I'm fighting with an enemy I can't even see, Like I'm Don Quixote in his 10x10 bedroom. And in the end, what I'm fighting for is a truly unseemly thing."
"The reason I wanted to die, Was that I was called a cold-hearted person, The reason I cry that I long to be loved, Is that I can't unlearn the warmth of another person's touch."
Daiki at this point turned slight so he was partly looking at the screen, and partly towards a those sitting down at the moment. He was smiling, but it was a gentle smile.
"The reason I wanted to die, Was that you smile so beautifully. The reason I can't stop thinking about death, Must be that I take living too seriously."
With the next chorus, the reason he turned became unveiled. He turned back to the screen, but... Did he just point towards Fu? It looked like it, for but a moment. He started to sing.
"The reason I wanted to die, Was that I still hadn't met you yet. If the world has people like you in it, Then I like the world a little bit more..."
"... If the world has people like you in it, Then I have... A little bit more hope for the world."
Daiki let out a sigh as he finished singing. He gently rested the microphone back in it's stand as opposed to his hand. The song still played out it's instrumental epilogue, the last few beats and tunes tinging away until there was all but silence. He turned to the group with a smile and gave them a thumbs up.
"Hope you all liked it. So uh, who's after me?"

The duet was cute, and he couldn't help but maybe ship Ryuuga and Raph a tiny bit. But then Fu came out with an instrument. Way to raise the bar guys, gee, thanks. Jun was never the instrument type. Of course, his interest laid in other things. Seemed like most people want love songs. Which...sort of brought him down a bit. He was a teenager, and wanted to date...but as far as he knew...no one swung the same way he did. Then came Ren. With another western song. Which wasn't too bad. Still not really to his taste, but to each their own. After all, who was he to judge? Then came Daiki. And Jun's jaw hit the floor. First of all, who knew the giant could sing. Second, the content of the song. It was the biggest wtf moment. And Jun was silent. Then he leaned back and started to clap. Slow and deliberate, he was impressed. Once again, Daiki showed that there was more than meets the eye. "Impressive. That was extremely good, Daiki! Again, showing there's more to you than meets the eye." Seriously, who knew? And for the guy's first song! Frowning at the next segment, he looked around. Well, it appeared it was him. Ok then. Only one thing to do!
"Hibikase it is." He stood up and walked onto the stage, awaiting for the music to start after he set it. He got into position, and waited.
After he was done, he gave it to the next person.

As their eyes met and Raphael found himself face to face with Ryuuga, he couldn't exactly put into words how he was feeling but he could swear he felt like his heart skipped a beat. Before he could fully process what we going on, he felt one of the girl's hands grab his free hand and he was being pulled up onto...the table?? Feeling like the whole room was watching them, the best he could do was try and not mess up the lyrics (that thankfully he didn't.) and keep up with the little dance they had going. As the song went on, he found himself smiling back at Ryuuga as they sang. That was when he realised...he may actually be having fun singing. The concept in itself was foreign to Raphael- he sang because he needed to, he had to, he was expected to, it was all he could do in a situation... but this may have been the first time he did just for the enjoyment. It was an odd feeling but...he didn't hate it. He had never gotten very close to anyone in middle school because he had to go home and look after his mother and the habit of leaving school as soon as the day ended just kind of stuck even after her death but maybe it was a good idea to get out a bit more. "Thank you Hoden-san...that was fun." He said as the song finished and he hopped down from the table and back to his seat. He listened to the next few "performances" from his classmates. Wow Futaba-san could play guitar too! He personally could play the basic instruments to a certain level but he was surprised so many others could also. And to actually sing in English too... even with his appearance, Raphael...wasn't all that great at English, grammar and writing/reading wise he wasn't that bad but speaking...was another matter altogether. Ren was another person with an English song but well, he supposed that was expected as he did mention living overseas before. Then came songs by Daiki who seemed very emotionally invested in his song (that was a good thing in Raphael's opinion.) and then Jun with another choreographed performance. He had to practise harder for next time they did this so he had some songs to perform! Though he found himself enjoying it all more than he ever expected it to. He was happy to have been placed in 1-A, he really did like everyone so far. And soon it was his turn again, and he picked the first thing he saw as he had been distracted listening to everyone else. saying that, he was happy he could sing love songs as he couldn't normally due to the fact they were useless with his quirk, (specially when he had never been in love thus it didn't meet the requirements for his quirk to work on those songs) but in general there was a lot of love songs in existence, so it was nice to be able to sing them at places like this where he didn't need to sing for a reason other than just...for fun. He stood up as the opening started to play.
Even if, you start getting more wrinkles on your face, That's okay Even if, I can't play the guitar like I want to anymore, The song of my heart will overflow with feelings for you, Even if, I can't hit the high notes anymore, Or sing the way I want to Will you just nod and sing along with me? The overwhelming applause, or ringing cheers... I don't need those I just need you to understand, understand....
Even if he couldn't relate to the words, it felt good to sing. Yes, he was really enjoying himself. Maybe, one day, he could sing this while meaning every word, being able to relate...wouldn't that be nice... It may just be one of those things that happen to everyone else, maybe, but he could daydream. Darlin' My dream came true, Though I can't find the words that fit... Darlin' My dream came true, "I love you."
As he finished the song, he put down the mic gently, sitting back down.

Post by Ryuga Hoden on Feb 9, 2019 22:26:54 GMT
After Seraphine-san and Ryuga's song had ended, she had felt the heat move through her cheeks. Her face was a very bright red as she looked over to Raphael, and as he thanked her, she felt herself simply tilt her head and grin. She could have said thank you back to him, but admittedly, something held her tongue. Whether it was her heart or something, that was something Ryuga had no clue about. The next grouping of performances were wonderful to listen to. Himura-san made Ryuga proud, as music was what she loved. This is where Futaba would truly shine fully. She was a star in the making. Wolff-san had matched Futaba, both having had used an instrument in their songs respectively. Ren's was more the beat with his bass, and both had excellent voices. Then came Satou-san with a disarmingly somber, yet lovely song. A big standout was the pointing to Futaba, which made Ryuga turn her head, and then she smiled happily. Someone else saw what she saw? That made Ryuga happier than ever. Following was Tomoshibi-san, another dance number, another bar raise. Seriously, these people were so talented, how could Ryuga not be entranced and watch on. Ryuga had barely enough talent for singing in her body than these people in their pinky toes. She was constantly impressed. Seraphine-san came next. And aside from her face beating red a little during his song, it was a song by Seraphine-san. Not much to say over really good, and it was one of her favorite artists. By time she grabbed the mic, her hand was on Raphael's hand for a second, and she didn't back off, she merely took it gently from his hand, and got up. No table this time. This time, the plan was to sing something slower. As she zipped through the list of songs, she found one such song she wanted, and smiled. "I wanna hold 'em like they do in Texas plays Fold 'em, let 'em, hit me, raise it baby stay with me (I love it) Love Game intuition play the cards with spades to start And after he's been hooked I'll play the one that's on his heart"The idea of this song was to go slow, unlike it's western release. Instead of playing with a lot of movement, Ryuga attempted to much differently utilize a different aspect of herself. A side much more sensual than her norm. There was still fun in there, that was true, but as she hid one of her orange globes under her blonde-multi-colored hair, she gave a pointed look to the group. She gave a smile, and admittedly, when the song hit 'I'll get him hot', she may or may not have been looking to Raphael with a flirty smile. "Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh I'll get him hot, show him what I've got Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh, I'll get him hot, show him what I've got Can't read my Can't read my No he can't read my poker face"That's how she wanted to present it to him, anyways. That was her plan. As for making it look that way, she wasn't trained to make it look that way. Nor did she understand it fully, but she did look flirty in how she moved. After finishing the song, her face was a mess of red, as she made a cough, bowed, put the mic down, and walked out of the room. To, if only for a few minutes, hide away from Raphael. That was a lot more embarrassing than she thought it would be.
