"Dojo...1...should be here..." Akasu pushed the large double doors that had a large "1" on it, finding himself in a traditional martial arts dojo, spacious enough for most things. Great. It seemed like he got the correct place. Even though he was teaching level at both Akido and Kendo, he had never volunteered to teach either of them as it meant having to do overtime... which of course was the number one thing Akasu hated in the world, after injustice. But well somehow he had gotten roped into agreeing to teach them to any students who wanted it, he wasn't even sure there was a demand but the school seemed to think so. Oh well, if no one turned up, he could report the result to the school and be done with it! He was in his kendo gi, well it wasn't all that different from his Aikido one anyway, dark blue kimono and black hakama over it, his men resting under his arm, shinai in the other hand. The wooden one, that is, he wasn't going to go start using the metal one in class against students. Akasu was aware he was meant to run this extra curricular lesson with another teacher, though he had never met the guy, due to the fact well, Asasu wasn't the most sociable person and as he had his own office...he tended to stay in it most of the time. He was aware it was a heroics teacher, and it was a man, that was about all he knew... Oh well, he would meet him soon, he was sure.

As the armor-clad teacher took heavy strides to his destination, he made a mental note to request a facility equipped with weapons akin to his own. Yes, the chances of running into such techniques or weaponry here in Japan were low - but Heroes took no risks when it came to protecting lives. If the future generation was underprepared for such an occasion, innocent lives would most certainly be lost. Of course, as he always ways, Ko was clad in his signature armor that he had taken a liking too. The plate was light enough for acrobatic movements, but thick enough to completely halt lesser attacks in their tracks. A good mix of defense and offensive, as must be carefully maintained with a Quirk like his.
Luckily, equipment manifestation seemed to extend to 'practice' weapons - as Ko had tested beforehand by summoning carbon copies of his usual set created from hard oakwood. Fine pieces of gear, and useful in a situation where he didn't want any real harm to befall the students. This was a dual session, however, so another faculty member would be on hand to teach the lesson alongside him. Reasonable enough. Two is better than one, especially in which fighting was involved. He knew it was a man named Akasu... and that was about it. Ko tended to not be very talkative, and so never really lent himself to making friends among the staff. Sliding open of the traditional-styled paper doorways, Ko's presence was announced by the loud clanking of his footsteps. He spotted what he assumed to be Akasu already in, dressed in Japanese sparring robes in stark contrast to his own. Noisily walking over, he raised a hand in greeting.

Akasu must say, having been a hero for nearly a decade and working at U.A for a few years, he had seen a lot. But he wasn't expecting someone to stride in looking like he had stepped out of a renaissance fair or JRPG, admittedly, which was what he was looking at right now. Did this man always go around fully geared in medieval armour like that?? And damn, he was tall. Akasu himself was pretty tall, but this guy was even taller and pretty broad...or was that the armour? Either way he was massive. He realised he was just staring at the man who had come in and composed himself. "Good afternoon... Armory-Sensei...?" He was taking a guess that it was the teacher he was meant to work with, rather than a student and gave him a bow in greeting. "Nice to meet you, my name is Akasu Naibun, I am the school nurse, field medic instructor and well... now the Kendo instructor..." The black haired man introduced himself, wondering if the plate armour had anything to do with the man's quirk or...it was aethstetic. One would assume it was the former, but then he had met some heroes in his career who... were rather dedicated to appearance to the point they were willing to go very far to look the part or to fit with their theme... So it was never safe just to assume. "Erm, so what sort of subjects are you going to be covering in your part of the lesson? I will be mainly doing Kendo." He guessed that was obvious from his gear and clothing but well, it was only polite to explain himself first. They should have probably spoken via email about this all first. oh well, what was done was done!

Extra-curricular lessons were a necessity. Learning how to fight in a multitude of ways was more so in order for victory to be achieved. Sometimes, one could not get by with just their fists, hence why Ryuga would take part in this extra lesson. To learn how to utilize a shinai properly with one's hands. Her intention was to learn how to utilize her body in a multitude of ways.
But well. She didn't own the traditional garb for kendo. It was more that she owned a sports outfit for boxing. Her finger-less gloves were on, as well as her sports bra and pants. Of course... even if it was just to the teachers and students who took the class, she felt over exposed. Pulling on a jacket as well to be safe was needed.
Nobody needed to see her bits.
When she entered into the dojo, her eyes went to the school nurse, and then... was that an actual suit of armor? Huh. Blinking, she tilted her head inquisitively. Was... this customary within a kendo environment? She had only brought her boxing gloves and jacket, but both senseis had either the proper gi, or in Armor-sensei's case, well...
Armor.
Ryuga moved closer and bowed towards Akasu-sensei and Armor-sensei wordlessly. If only to not deter them from conversation. Ryuga was above interrupting what must be a conversation between the two. That, and she had been a teensy bit early.
Because she wanted to go first. Whenever they started. Though she lacked a shinai, and the gi. Hopefully she could change into a spare?

Ko nodded wordlessly in confirmation to his identity - not that there would be any real doubt considering his stature and overall cadence, but it was rude to be impolite. Akasu bowed, Ko returning the motion a bit stiffly in his suit, listening intently to what the other man was saying. Turning out to be a practitioner of medicine was very beneficial, in the long run, to further reinforce accident prevention and response. If anyone got hurt - Ko was glad they'd have someone like him on standby. The topic of lesson choice was then brought up, prompting the man to nod once more and lightly tap at his chest with his left hand, casually forming a wooden sword in his other. "Unorthodox Western methods." came his short words of reply.
His attention drifted as he noticed another person had entered the room, Ko holding his hand for pause to Akasu and turning to face the newcomer. With her age and outfit, it was safe to say this was one of the students who would be actually showing up. His eyes scanned the clock, revealing her early arrival. No matter. If someone was eager to learn, that could only ever be a positive thing. He waited, seeing if Akasu would be the first to officially acknowledge her presence. He could do it himself but letting the other teacher introduce himself seemed like a better idea than grunting a few words at her.

"Un... Unorthodox...Western...methods... I see..." Well actually Akasu didn't really get it, but he didn't want to be rude and tell the other teacher that. He saw a sword materialise in the man's hand and wondered if it was some kind of weapon materialisation quirk. It didn't really explain why he was dressed in full plate armour but well, he may find out sooner or later! He was sort of expecting the other man to develop on what he said, but it seemed that was all he had to say. "O-oh...I see...um...well I suppose we can do an introduction, then I'll do an activity then... Armory-sensei can do one...? Is that alright with you?" Akasu asked, before he realised there was someone else in the room and turned. Oh. it was...probably a first year, because he didn't know her. And she looked around the right size for a first year. He had seen roughly 300 first years in the last few days, they all started to blend into one female and one male student in his brain. Though from the fact she was here, it was most likely to be a student from the hero classes- he was pretty sure in support, there was only 2 or 3 students who actually trained physically seriously enough to attend classes even in the higher years. "Ah, Good afternoon...are you here for the extra curricular lesson? May I have your name and class?" He asked, walking over to the side where he had a touchpad to record attendees.

Post by Daiki Satou on Jan 15, 2019 13:54:26 GMT
'Ah, yes, of course. I always happen to have a training gi with m-'. Daiki slammed open his closet doors, right there was nothing. Nothing at all.
"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHY CAN'T I JUST SUMMON THINGS WHEN I- groceries. I'll buy a training gi for supper this week. No, I can jack and slack it, jacket and slacks, it'll be fine right? I can be like one of those edgy motorcycle punks with the pompadours, hueh?!" He said, as confused with what he was doing as probably the kids in the adjacent rooms to his. He even went the extra mile and took a crane stance, raised up on one legs with his arms suspended. "Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuah!" He'd kick into the air! Sailing forward, he nearly kicked a hole in his wall, his foot just coming short.
"A master knows when to save a wall, and when to not. Destruction may come to pass in times of great anger, with competitive gaming. Not with academics." Daiki said with humorous wisdom, both hands clasped together in front of himself, eyes closed, one leg raised and pressed to his other knees side. Though he digressed, resuming normal Human function, beginning to rummage through his room. Realistically he assumed they didn't expect students to have traditional training equipment with them for these sorts of extracurricular things. Like most clubs, you join them and then they get you set up. Though was this a club? This wasn't a club. Oh well, his gym clothes would provide the flexibility and such to get the job done, so he opted to perhaps temporarily use his gym clothes.
With that slapped on, he'd drop his headset over his ears, enter his thumb ID, access his music and select a track. Sparkle - RADWIMPS The music always came as peace to his soul, infusing it with the passion the artist put into it. Sad songs, happy songs, peaceful and beautiful songs. They always had an effect on his mood, it played a big part in his life. With a heavy step he stepped out into the dormitory hallway, off to extracurricular lessons! By this point he'd already been labelled as an oddball, the only 1-A student to have received a Warning, let alone on the first day of school. Plus his energetic and happy persona, it understandably wasn't something you saw everyday. The world was a grim place and warranted more tragedy than peace and happiness. Yet truly, Daiki was happy. Not a facade or a lie, no ulterior motives or reason to why. He was just happy. He picked up his pace as the momentum of the song picked up, starting at a walk, then a jog. Then he transitioned into a jogging skip, sailing through the dormitory doorways and into the beautiful god rays of the rising sun. He always, always loved that feeling. The breeze blowing his hair up over the upper part of his headphones, his shirt loosely flapping as he ran, the sleeve gently brushing against his forearm when the wind caught a grip of it from the sleeves entrance.
It was almost too soon for him to be in UA's main building, but he was just too fast for his own good, apparently. Still, he slowed his speed but skipped through the school nonetheless. Happily greeting third and first year alike. Teachers to, honorifics attached of course. Finally, he'd make it to the door of the extracurricular class. A literal martial arts dojo. This is a fitting time to say yikes and turn tail, but that wasn't what Daiki did. Daiki did not turn tail, Daiki smash tail into submission - rah! He'd cough, audible from inside the room, removing his headphones and turning off his music.
With a breath to relax himself, let the feelings run through him, he'd gently pull open the door and step inside, closing it after himself. He turned around to look between the people gathered. One teacher... Woah, that guy looks awesome; that's what he thought when he looked at Armory-sensei. It was like he was the Knight and Dai- no way. Ryuga frikken Hoden. Daiki let out a feeble beep as he realized he might very well be training with two teachers, and Ryuga might just end up being the only other student there with him. What are the chances! Pretty high, maybe. Actually she looked pretty serious about her schooling. Actually made a lot of sense.
He's dumb. He bowed towards the group as a whole. "Good afternoon Naibun-sensei, Armory-sensei, Hoden-san." He sneakily pulled out his phone clear in sight. Phew, he was on time. Standing upright, he tucked his phone back away and looked around the room. Looking back to the teachers he'd speak again. "I'm honored to have this opportunity, and am looking forward to learning." He nodded.

This was the place, right? Ren doubled checked the map on his phone to be certain and sure enough, the GPS placed him at the entrance of the room labeled 'Dojo 1'. "Excuse me." He pushed open the door and bowed as he entered, following the etiquette that had been drilled into his head over the past 5 years. While on the outside the structure didn't look any different from the countless training halls that existed within UA, the inside was practically like stepping into a different world. The utilitarian style of the school gave way to a much more traditional atmosphere. He might as well have been back at his family's dojo, complete with wooden support frames, tatami mat floors, and walls that at least looked like they were made of stylized paper.
In this more rustic environment, Ren looked right at home, clad in a dark blue gi and Hakama. On his shoulder was slung a bag with a pair of bamboo shinai and his helmet was tucked under his arm. The only thing out of place was the yellow scarf, which was tucked slightly under the neck of his gi as to not get in the way, but stood bright contrast to the rest of the outfit regardless. Since he hadn't exactly been able to take all of his equipment with him when he left home, Ren had had to save up his earning to buy a new set, and everything was plainly brand new. The only exception was one of the two shinai, which he had brought with him and even used a bit during the entrance exam. It was pretty well worn down at this point, and it probably wouldn't last much longer even if he continued to replace the slats, so he carried it more as a sort of good-luck charm than anything else.
Slipping off his shoes before he set foot on the mat, Ren glanced up to see who else had shown up for the extracurricular lesson. There was Naibun-sensei, Ryuga, Daiki, and... that was a man in full plate armor, wasn't it? Ren found himself pausing at just how out of place it seemed for a moment before shaking his head. There would be a point when random stuff like this would become commonplace to him, he was sure. Searching his memory, he remembered a brief mention of the teacher while they'd been going through staff on orientation day, his hero name was... Armory? The platemail reminded him of something he'd seen one of his uncles wear back in Germany, he'd tried to teach Ren fighting styles with European weapons once before, but there's not a whole lot you can take away with just a single lesson when you're six. In any case... it was pretty safe to say that kendo wasn't going to be the only thing that they'd be covering here.
Ren put on a grin and waved to his classmates as he approached the group. It'd been... probably about six months since the last time he actually got to practice in the Yamaki dojo, and he was looking forward to getting back into form. Akusa was giving instructions as Ren walked up and he took a moment to bow to both of the teachers before giving his information. "Good afternoon Armory-sensei, Naibun-sensei. Ren Wolff, 1-A."

So, the dojo had begun to fill. A positive outcome, Ko thought, nodding as a few more students trickled in. He outstretched one his gauntleted hands, clapping twice and causing a resounding clang to resound across the room. "I'd like to thank you all for coming. One mustn't be so quick to dismiss training when freely offered by instructors such as myself and my co-worker." He paused, crossing his arms for a second. and grunting. "Though before we continue, perhaps I ought to let you all know what my name actually is. To you, it is simply Ko." Chuckling gently, he tapped his own plated chest. "Though I suppose 'Armory' isn't a false name." he plucked his sword from the ground next to him, holding his right arm in a perpendicular fashion as light began to gather around it. "While Akasu here continues on with his plan, I shall be preparing one of mine own." he turned to the other teacher, respectfully bowing slightly. "As you will."

As students started to come in (more than Akasu had expected by far, damn, he had to work overtime after all.) akasu noted down their names and classes with a small greeting. Whoa, there was a kid...was he first year? He was huge for a 15 year old, jesus. Hell, he was bigger than most 3rd years. Maybe it was something to do with his quirk?? "Um... the tall male student...what is your name and class?" He asked, he was going to say "The blonde student" but he realised all of them...were blonde. Great. Thinking back to the first day of this year, wasn't a lot of 1-A blonde? What was up with that?? "Right, well, you may or may not know from my rounds on the first day of school, my name is Akasu Naibun, I am the school nurse. I also hold a 6th dan in Kendo, and a 3rd dan in Akido so I should suffice as a teacher for these subjects." The pro-hero explained, he was a little surprised that the other teacher just expected students to call him by his first name, (that...was his first name, right? Looking at his notes, yep, the man's surname was Ibuki) but he guessed it didn't matter. Unusual was the norm for teachers in this place. He was reminded about gi and other equipment when he noticed Wolff (was the kid mixed race or something? Seemed it.) was already in suitable attire. "For those of you who do not have the suitable clothing on, or do not own equipment, there are some here you may change into." He said, signalling towards a wardrobe built into the wall on one side that housed the necessary equipment. "Please put those on and come back, changing rooms are two doors down once you leave here and turn left."
Once the students had returned, he went through some quick warm up exercises. "Don't forget these, it's always good practise to do them before you start anything to do with hero work- even when on patrol, you do not know when you have to spring into action, and causing careless damage to your body by not being prepared would be a rather pathetic way to get injured or worse. As a hero, your body is not just something that concerns you, but you need to look after it for your teammates also. And...doing so will make your support team mates much more appreciative..." Clearly he wanted to say this to some pro heroes too, one could tell from the tired expression on the man's face. "I am now going to go through some basic katas, firstly barehand and you will find they translate well even if you have a weapon." He explained, before going through a set of 5 basic ones, doing each movement slowly so the children could see clearly. "Try and learn these as soon as possible, and in your daily training practise them. They are rather important and useful for reactive defence. Okay, from the start, repeat the movements after me."

Post by Ryuga Hoden on Jan 26, 2019 0:56:24 GMT
The man she declared as Armor-sensei seemed to wait, and while Ryuga could look at Akasu-sensei, her orange globes were practically glued on the man in front of them. He just looked like a force to be reckoned with. Akasu would ask her a question, but as she would open her mouth to respond, finally turning her gaze over to the school's nurse and kendo instructor...
Satou-san had found his way into the dojo as well, and as Ryuga's orange globes shot their way over to him, her hands moved onto her hips. He would bow, and as the blonde-green-and-orange haired girl turned on her heel, she would see be greeted. Huh. She kept running into him. Not that she minded. He was like a happy ball of sunshine that often entered places with that happy-go-lucky look.
It was envious. But today was something more important. Ryuga's eyes would narrow a little. He went after Himura-san when she could not. That meant one thing. She would best him here. There was a confident smile on her face, painted there as it slowly rose. To Daiki, unable to see inside her mind, there could be plenty of reasons why her neutral expression to a smile upon seeing him.
Oh dear, Ryuga. Don't lead the poor boy on.
When Wolff-san came in next, Ryuga's eyes would zoom over to him. Three blondes now, and more importantly, he had his own gi it seemed. He looked more at home than she did, that was for sure. A little jealousy came, as all she brought her were boxing gloves. And those weren't really made for boxing. So it goes.
As the suit of armor, Armor-sensei, began to speak to them, Ryuga turned her head over to him. This was exactly her reason of coming today. Training would put her ahead in terms of the other classmates who decided to not come. It would set her on the path she wanted. One step closer to achieving her goal as a hero. Supplementary classes weren't optional for her. But it seemed that he had a name. Ko. Ryuga would nod. It was almost adorable to hear, to be honest, as it was so short of a name. Though he would give the reins to Akasu-sensei.
When her attention zeroed back on Akasu, he began to speak, noting to Satou-san first. Ryuga hadn't even been able to speak. But as she allowed Akasu-sensei to finish, she would nod. She knew who he was due to the first day meeting. But, more so, as Ryuga moved to the wardrobe as Akasu-sensei noted, she would begin to walk to the changing room.
* * *
As she would enter, she spoke quickly. "Ryuga Hoden. 1-A. My apologies, Akasu-sensei, for not saying so sooner."
Of course, as Akasu-sensei would begin to show them warm-up exercises, Ryuga watched closely, analyzing the movement, the angle, the relative force behind each movement, as well as the footwork. It seemed different than boxing, but in a different kind of way. It was easy to get stuck in the previous learning over boxing, but she needed to forget what she knew right now, and focus.
When Akasu-sensei requested them to repeat his movements, Ryuga would attempt to do basic kata. Slowly. She was nowhere near the best, but she attempted to match Akasu-sensei in movement. At least as close to a mirror image as she could. She was slower, sure, but each movement was meant to be precise. Precision is key. Not might.

"Oh, of course. I apologize Akasu-sensei. My name is Satou Daiki, 1-A."
He would say with another light bow before hearing out everything they were to do, instructions or otherwise. Some interesting things happened during the delivery though, oddly enough Ryuga was just smiling at him. He didn't really know what to make of it, but he genuinely returned a smile, rubbing the back of his neck until his attention was taken by the teachers. He wondered if any of the outfits would actually fit him. Maybe they would- actually they probably would considering it was UA and all. They're used to having to accommodate weird people like him. Besides, it's not like he was out of the Human range of height. Some adult males were his height, well, some. After acknowledging what had been said, all of it being really easy to process and straightforward he would make his way around to change.
The little outfit he had on now wasn't really going to cut it. He stared off into space as his mind traveled back in time to blankly realize what would happen if someone saw him dancing in his room and tal- Did he say any of that out loud? Oh well. This is a time to be serious, training should never be taken lightly, and definitely one can never think themselves above training unless they end up surpassed by their peers and enemies. That is all too important in the career he was getting himself onto. Putting on a training Gi and everything after eyeballing a correct size, he walked back to the room and lined up in front of Akasu-sensei, about two to three meters away from him.
As warm-ups started with his fellow students, he streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetched. Left and right, up and down. Bending his limbs and everything. Stretching was great until it was no longer a relieving morning stress, but rather bordered on extended Yoga. Regardless, it wasn't too much for him to handle. Before he knew it they were all stressed and ready. He'd have to do that every time before he went on shift for the day when he was a Hero. This would be an important lesson to remember, for sure. That was when Akasu-sensei started to present various motions. They were a little foreign to Daiki, but all he had to do was follow along, and then it would be easier to remember.
He'd follow along with the basic katas. His accuracy wasn't perfect by any means, some motions could be a little higher, his feet in a slightly different position. No one was perfect on their first try, in all honestly it was a pretty decent first try, but it was just that; a first try.

Ren turned to Armory as the teacher commented on the importance of using the resources that were available to them. It was true enough that he was going to need all the training he would get while he was here. He figured out pretty early that using his quirk as it was meant to be used would draw far too much attention, so he'd been trying to disguise it as a creation ability rather than manipulation. As a result he had to change how he thought about his quirk, and in a fight he'd have to rely much more heavily on his own physical prowess. Extra sessions like this would be vital in building up the base he needed. As the man introduced himself, Ren gave a slight nod and made sure to commit Ko's name to memory. It was a little bit odd for a teacher to ask to be called by their first name, but then again the boy had a similar preference.
After Akasu finished giving instructions, Ren figured he might as well start stretching while the other two went to get changed. He set his helmet and shinai down along the far wall of the room and went through a quick set of warm up stretches, making sure that both his shoulders and legs were well loosened up by the time his classmates came back in. He wasn't quite sure why, but to him the traditional garb looked pretty funny on Daiki. The prim and proper clothes didn't really fit the personality that he showed most of the time, though Ren had to admit that it looked pretty good on Ryuga, matching her image in spite of the colorful hair.
Once they had gathered again, Naibun-sensei began to go through some basic Katas. Ren was familiar with the concept from his kendo training, but the unarmed stances were a bit different than what he had grown used to. He did his best to mimic the motions, starting off a bit sloppy until something in his head clicked. The teacher was correct with his comment, the movements seemed like there were perfectly fit for weapon users as well, and as he imagined a blade in his hand it all began to feel much more natural to him. His transitions smoothed significantly as he settled into the routine, focusing on how each motion felt so that he could reproduce it later.

Akasu watched the kids copy the moves he had shown, the shorter boy who came fully prepared clearly knowing what he was doing but well, that was obvious, it showed he probably did some kind of bushido before while the other two probably were new to it all. He went along, gently correcting some of the stances by moving feet or hands to the correct positions and getting them to repeat one or two to make sure it was correct. After doing it one more time, it seemed like the three had it down. "Okay, now this is the second set." He showed another series of 5 kata to the students, this one had more forward attack like punches along with counter blocks. "And together, you will find them attack, block, and counter each other. I would like you all to practise these a few times...let's say 4 times, then get into pairs. As we have odd numbers, Satou-kun, I will be your opponent. I would like you and your partner to alternate the kata and practise putting them to use." The school nurse turned to Daiki with a small smile. It was probably for the best as he was taller than the other two students and so closer to a sparring height with Daiki. "When you are ready, Satou-kun." He said before he clapped. "Ok, start!"

Small mistakes. Sometimes mistakes were necessary, because being awful at something was the first step at being kind of good at something. Sure, her kata weren't great. They weren't, at all, in fact. The best one was okay, but at least the worst one wasn't awful. That was the saving grace. While Akasu-sensei did come to fix her stance and technique a little, she would still make the same mistakes. As she expected. She couldn't be good at something without an excessive amount of practice, and part of her knew that while she may have the movements down, more or less, her power behind them was lacking. Maybe that was due to how she learned boxing; imagine, a jab can be in any way to its target. A hook, an uppercut too. These movements were natural, and just used slight adjustment. This, however, required her to think about keeping the stance. If she were being honest, kata wasn't at all her strong spot. But as Akasu-sensei continued forth when the three understood, a new set came in. Just as before, Ryuga practiced. Her stance was a little more refined, with a better success rate. Obvious, however, were the flaws within her movements. Kata? Not her strong suit. Not like it was going to be. When Akasu-sensei told them to branch off into pairs, he took Satou-san, which left Ryuga with Wolff-san. A pairing, she figured, would suit her better. The thing she was worried about with Satou-san was getting bopped rather hard with a faulty defense. Wolff-san felt more like her skill range, though it seemed that between the two, he would be the victor. Still, as she held her stance out, she'd make a smile. "Shall we, Wolff-san?" she gave that bright smile she often did. She enjoyed to learn. Hopefully, Wolff-san wouldn't go easy on her. Akasu Naibun , Ko Buki , Daiki Satou , Ren Wolff
