He's very formal and respectful, and doesn't like confrontations. He'll often look around first to see if anyone can help him get out of a situation, often a group of boys flirting with him, and then unleash his bloodlust to scare them off. And it often does. Otherwise, he's a kind and generous boy who hates being called a girl and anything associated with the gender. You want to get on his good side, call him manly or complement his boyishness. He may hug you like a girl, but he'll respect you and adore you forever more. And he loves homemade cooking.
He's a tinkerer. And focuses his studies on making gadgets and researching ways to improve costumes. And is largely attributed to have made most of the support equipment for the other first years.
His mother as verbally abusive, and lightly physical, culminating in his bloodlust. Anger and resentment fostered in his heart for years. And he learned how to harness it with intimidation. His quirk helped with that as well. Being poor didn't help either. Though it did help him in becoming resourceful enough to find things to tinker around with, making crude support items. He didn't have many friends, just two notable ones. But they all supported him in the end. His mother eventually came around as he got older, realizing that Daichi was in fact, a boy. And that he wanted to make support gear for heroes. She also let loose the fact that she had a child before him, an older half-brother. Though the relationship is still rocky, it is at least better.

SUMMARY:
The stiff, three fingered hands at the ends of the arms can turn into most tools under five inches in length and weigh less than 8 oz. Anything bigger is impossible for him. This includes hammers, phillips screwdrivers, torx screwdrivers, chisels, and small saws. No chainsaws or power tools. It is more efficient than by hand, but less than power tools.
He can also form blades on this metal arms, including along the sides, for maximum intimidation levels.
They require a high calcium and iron intake diet to stay in tip top shape, maintaining durability. While extremely durable, if they get cut into, or broken off, it's like getting his arm cut off. And is extremely painful. They can also be sun-burnt. Water has a tendency to make them rust, and that hurts like his skin getting scraped off with a grater.

After years of harnessing and practicing, Daichi can release a good amount of bloodlust, making it feel like a blood soaked snake is going to kill you. It is enough to scare off most people, even adults. Only hardy individuals are not intimidated by this.
