He had been in the news reports lately. Well, what he had done had been in the news reports lately. The scrolling part at the bottom. No one cared about the fate of the wretched. No one mourned devils. That was who he preyed upon. And, really, they had it coming. Perhaps he was baiting them, walking around in his natural state and looking in every cautious step like some lost pet.
It was completely their fault for falling for the bait, though. If they approached him with bad intentions, he’d let them chase him somewhere more secluded. Anyone who thought themselves clever enough to look for a ‘weak’ victim like him deserved his fangs and his fire. That’s how he felt. He was a little interested in their new title for him: the Beast of Ikebukuro. They thought he was human, just transformed into this hellhound state. That was fine by him. He didn’t need glory.
Just lives.
He licked his lips as he let go of his latest victim. They hadn’t been enough of a challenge to require his aflame state. He might enter it later, though, when he reached his little densite. The knife they carried had cut into his shoulder quite nicely and he licked at the wound. The non-human villain mulled over the dead man. He talked too much, drunk off his own intelligence. His quirk had allowed him to assess the genes of others at a glance. A little dark scientist, it had seemed. He had taken an interest in Daisuke due to his obviously odd structure and given chase.
So, his death was his own fault.
Realizing another was at the scene, Daisuke looked at the end of the dark alley. Soft music thumped in the distance from the nearby bars. The dog, unable to say real words, settled for a mere soft woof, waiting to see if the other person would be upset by his actions or if they would mind their business. Though, really, no one good stayed in Ikebukuro this late. They likely wouldn't think much of some stray mutt having attacked some nobody.

There was a certain shop in Ikebukuro that the elderly man had to stop at in order to put him in this situation that he was in. There was a good deal on meats at this certain shop, and between feeding his Tegu and giving treats to his dog and cat, he went through a bit of meat. Usually hamburger, but sometimes they got a treat. He was far from hurting for money, after all. However as he heard a small scuffle, his old hero senses kicked in. He wasn't in his outfit, but he did have his SIG Sauer on his hip. He always did for emergencies. However when he looked down the alley, he saw a dog standing over a body.
"Oh dear..." Came the old man's rough voice, taking a step into the alley to block the view from any passer's by. "Poor thing... I'm guessin' he cornered ya, huh?" He was speaking to the dog. "Beautiful coat ya got on ya. Would ya be willin' to take some beef in exchange for that there body?" Slade only saw a regular dog that had been cornered by someone and lashed out. "Not gonna call the pound or nothin' but you need ta clear out and I gotta call this body in."
He reached into the bag he was holding and pulled out a package of hamburger. "All yours. If ya got somewhere to go I can make sure ya get there safe..." He just hoped the dog wouldn't attack. He kept a kind smile and low posture, crouched down, in hopes that he would seem less threatening. But who knows.

Though he was of nearly human intelligence, he didn't have the ability to disguise his emotions very well. As such, mistrustful, he flicked his ears back briefly upon being complimented. He growled, warning the human to not approach too closely. Why did this guy want the body, anyways? What sick, twisted plans did he--
Ooooooh, that was fresh beef.
Daisuke was indeed just a dog, despite all the bells and whistles, and it was only his training that prevented him from rushing over to Slade's hand to accept the offered food. Instead, his focus just went on it, like a sniffer hound distracted by rabbit blood. Food from a gently speaking human. Humans could be duplicitous, Daisuke knew, but he just wasn't coming up with a reason to be paranoid about this guy. Maybe he really did just want what seemed to be an ordinary mongrel to leave a fresh body alone for his own villainous purposes. Fine by him. He'd been getting by on scraps and a chunk of whatever he tore out of his targets ever since he escaped. The allure of the hamburger was just too great.
Approaching slowly with tension clearly written in his muscles, he'd walk close enough to bump the tip of his nose against the package Slade was offering. And, at this distance, Slade would see Daisuke's collar; it had no identification information upon it. After all, if Daisuke were the sort of equipment meant to be reported missing, there wouldn't be the confusion with his killings being chalked up to some werewolf-esque mystery villain. Better yet, as soon as he was certain that Slade really did just want the body, Daisuke would sit down like the polite, well trained dog he'd been meant to be and wait to be given the food in exchange for the corpse.

"Ya seem a lil jumpy there, bud." Slade nodded, setting the package of hamburger down. He would slowly, very slowly, reach for the pocket knife he had and open it. He would understand if the dog jumped away, but he would go about carefully opening the package. Once the hamburger was accessible, he would put the knife away and pull out a phone instead. "Yeah, hey there. Name's Gunsmoke. Yeah I got a body in the alley right next to a, uh.... Looks like some kinda market and a clothing place? It's right close to a club. Ikebukuro. Yeah. I was just walkin my dog and we saw it. Didn't wanna get too close and mess up the scene, ya know? Yeah we're gonna clear out probably. I don't like stickin in one spot too long. Yeah. Alright if ya need me ya know where I live and ya got my number. Yeah, bye." He ended the call and sighed, tucking the phone away. "And that's that. You got yer beef and yer free ta go." He gave a smile. "But let's go ahead n' get outta here first, then we can part ways. That way they think yer with me, yeah?" He would move to carefully stand with a small grunt.
"I live in Akihabara which ain't far from here. But if you need somewhere to stay, I'm sure we can get ya set up for the night at least. Until this dies down." A shrug. "I have a dog, cat, and a lizard so long as ya don't hurt 'em you can come with. But we made our trade, so you're free ta go."

It was fortunate that Slade continued calmly cutting open the package. Daisuke had been watching and he had been very close to igniting in order to proper handle this new "threat." His shoulder was still wounded, after all. He didn't want to have to take on some overly confident knife wielding corpse tradesman. But, all ended well. He stepped forward, greedily gulping down several mouthfuls while Gunsmoke made his call. His dog? Who had this Gunsmoke been calling? Wait... With the flick of an ear, Daisuke recalled.
Older hero. Highly respected. American? Maybe. Regardless, he was of much higher caliber than the riff raff that Daisuke was currently cutting his fledgling villain teeth on. It was indeed fortunate that Slade had been so calm - fortunate for Daisuke.
Though he understood what Slade was offering perfectly well and was completely off-leash trained to such a degree that he could, when he had a mind to, put to shame most show dogs, he nonetheless didn't trust the old hero. It felt like a trap. The red merle was still enjoying his freedom. So, he licked his lips after finishing his meal and gave the old man one last look over. He let out four quick barks. Four syllables. A-ri-ga-tou. And, with that, he'd begin trotting away. The wound on his shoulder was beginning to bleed a little more and a slight splatter of blood would give away his trail. But, hey, there was a corpse nearby. Unless someone tested it, they'd think it all human. It wasn't as if they kept records of doggie DNA, either.
So long, and thanks for all the beef!
