One lesson from the end of the day, and Mikaku had finished all his classes for the day. For once he didn’t have much in terms of jobs or prior engagements wise and so he supposed he could chill for a bit before the end of school actually hit and he could go and hunt for something interesting to waste his time on.
Ryuusei would have been his no.1 target when the Dokumi heir was bored, but he had gone to see his sister in hospital today. It took a huge deal of effort to force that small shard of information from the other teen, and to be honest Mikaku was worried for his friend the last few weeks after he found out his younger sister was ill but Mikaku also felt like he wasn’t in any position to intervene or say anything. It wasn’t like they were even close or anything, right? They just happened to be in the same agency, and almost died once. Just hero on the job things. And...he didn’t really understand stuff about family, or people important to you, soft, warm, shapeless fluffy stuff like that, if he was brutally honest. (Which he never was out loud.)
His family were….unique. Like a bunch of people who had just decided to get together and marry and whatnot because it was convenient, because it was the right thing to do, the thing that had the most benefit. His parents acted civil to each other but unlike a family, they lived separately, had different schedules, different lives, all three of them- seeing how Ryuusei was acting had sort of made Mikaku think about things he didn’t want to, face parts of his reality and life he rather gloss over.
To be honest, he didn’t want to be close friends with anyone. Just the same as he shyed away from relationships, friendships were kinda on the same spectrum right? Just you didn’t kiss or have sex with normal friends. But same thing really, they were both emotional attachments. And who knew how genuine someone was, ultimately? Hell, he wasn’t sure even he could be that genuine… he just wanted to be liked by everyone and sort of float through life easily, with the least effort possible and definitely, stress free. He was pretty sure if he tried to be serious...he’d royally fuck that up. And he didn’t want to do that, ever, he didn’t want the responsibility of having hurt someone that badly- it was a terrifying concept.
As much as Mikaku seemed like he loved being around people, sometimes, no, quite a lot of the time he wanted to be alone. It was why he lived alone, infact. He could totally live in the dorms but to be surrounded by people 24/7, be Mikaku Dokumi all the time… it wasn’t such an appealing thought.
And that was the exact reason he was making his way up to the roof to sit and relax for a bit. Maybe shout into the sky like they do in dramas. Or something dumb like that. It might be kinna satisfying… The white haired teen pushed the door open once he got to the top of the steps and stepped out. It was a nice day at least- sunny but not too hot. He walked out a few steps and stretched with a loud groan, inhaling a lung full of breath before yelling.
“WHY AM I SO FUCKED UP I SWEAR IT WASN’T MEANT TO BE LIKE THIS!?”
Okay he sounded fucking dumb but it was fine, no one was here to judge the hottest guy in UA doing dumb things on the roof.

"Kazume, why do you even want to be a hero?"
Truthfully, Kaz didn't know why he wanted to be a hero. He was asked that quite often as he didn't often have the resounding positivity or kindness or patience or other such qualities required of heroes. He would usually tell them he wanted to be a hero to make up for the idiots like them who soiled the good name of heroes; however, their idiocy was not actually his primary motivation. Though that was usually the quickest way to shut them up without having to explain or come up with excuses for himself. It was something far more personal and selfish, though he had a feeling he was not solitary in having selfish reasons for wanting to be a hero. After, heroism was not without its faults and selfish flaws. Was it so bad of him to want to be more than what he had been destined to be? Why did that make him less honorable than the rest of the students?
The roof was one of his many hide-aways where he would pretend to be doing things of use, but really he would usually be sleeping or eating. He wondered if it was any different for the other students, who had families and friends to hang out with, the second school was out and they dissipated from the grounds and their laughter became more and more distant. People would often ask him things and the responses he would produce were often (no, more like were always) lies. Anything to seem familiar, to seem like he understood why they smiled when they talked about certain feelings or memories. He envied them without equal and hated them too, despite himself.
It was on one such days that he had chosen to slip away to the rooftop for peace and quiet. And such a day that his silence was violently destroyed. By a raving idiot. “WHY AM I SO FUCKED UP I SWEAR IT WASN’T MEANT TO BE LIKE THIS!?”
He glanced up at the guy screaming into the sky like a fucking imbecile, sitting up abruptly from his bed created out of an old lawn chair and cardboard box. He had made quite the little set up for himself up there. "If you're waiting for someone to answer, you're kinda out of luck, man. The hell is wrong with you anyways? We're you dropped on your head as a kid or something?"

Okay, that didn’t feel as good as Mikaku had hoped. Why did people do this in films and dramas? It just felt...well, dumb. He laughed slightly to himself, shaking his head. Maybe he really was going a bit crazy with all the stuff that had been happening these last few weeks.
And that was when he realised he had company, or more like, he had just joined someone up on the roof unannounced.
So there was someone here to judge the hottest guy in U.A doing dumb things on the roof afterall.
“Whoa!”
Bright violet eyes blinked in shock, turning to see a flash of orange hair. He tilted his head to have a better look at his roof-partner and realised it was Kazume from 3-A. Shit, he heard everything. This was totally not his style at all, at least the marketed image… ugh… no choice but to play it out smoothly! (Or attempt to, in any case.)
“Kazucchi, the hell you doing here? Haha...I know, I tried to shout to the heavens to see if I would get a reply but I guess my beautiful self isn’t all that loved huh? Tragedy.”
To be honest he had never properly talked to the guy before, he just knew his name and face and class, that was about it.
“What are you doing here anyway~? Do you...live here? Quite a set up you seem to have…”
The support hero to be motioned towards the chair and cardboard box...whatever it was.

What a weirdo. He was one to talk though, considering he was nothing if not irregular by every means. The kid looked familiar, he knew he was something of a poster boy or maybe he had him mixed up with another useless pretty boy. Kazume had no idea how the idiot could have possibly missed him, he stuck out in a crowd and certainly in the bleak background of U.A.'s rooftops, but then again he had been likely hidden away behind the chair he was currently lying back in. What was this kid's name again? It started with an M, right? Or something. He knew who he was, he just couldn't recall his name. It seemed strangely fitting he might find the school shining star shouting like a dramatic idiot. Or was he a falling star? Was that what had come up here to do? Kazume let this roll through his mind before sitting up properly, leaning forward until his elbows dug into his knees.
Kazucchi, He wrestled with an expression of frustration and confusion at the familiarity and fondness suggested by the nickname, did this guy know him? If so, he'd made a particularly poor impression obviously. The other boy attempted to rectify his own mistake. It was really a foolish thing to let go of such an image that was obviously so precious to him. Had Kaz seen something he wasn't supposed to see? That made it rather intriguing and the glint of mischief showed in his smile, in the gritted edge of his teeth which glinted with almost primal incentive. "Dokumi, right?" It sprung to his mind, plucked from the files of his memory in the places he didn't care to recall without extra motivation.
"A fine thing like you, ignored? I shudder at the thought. That must be such a rare dilemma for someone such as you, no?" The boy likely hadn't experienced neglect a time in his life. He so much as opened his mouth and people lined up to be spoon-fed bullshit. Kazume knew the type well, but his voice held no bitterness, rather he felt a sliver of respect for shepherds of sheep. "But fear not, you are not ignored. I am here and it so happens I am an expert on the 'fucked up' topic if you need an ear."
There were plenty of rumors about Kazume, enough that the other boy likely wouldn't want to entertain the conversation between them and, if so, that was his loss. Though Kazume doubted the other wanted anything remotely close to his opinion on any matter. Mikaku Dokumi looked like the type who enjoyed when people spoon-fed his own bullshit back to him, or held sugary sweet lies for him to swallow. Kaz was not capable of sugar coating by any means. His reputation was for burning things, not healing.
At the gesture, Kazume glanced down to the chair and box. "Yeah, aren't I a fucking bum?.. No, I just come here to smoke and nap." He motioned at the pile of ash and butts in an old box of take-out, some cigarettes and some..not. He knew eventually he'd get caught up here, one day not by the U.A. pretty boy either.

Mikaku was actually surprised the other guy knew his name. Well, once someone heard his surname most people could remember it- “Dokumi...like Dokumi Medicals? Wait, you are the heir???” and at one point in his life he hated the fact everyone would remember him for his surname but he had gotten used to it now. It was simple- he just had to become more memorable than his parents dumb company.
“Yep~ You can just call me Mika!”
He winked back, he could clearly see that glint in the other’s eye and it was familiar- a look of someone who was bored, restless and listless at the same time who had seen something mildly amusing that they could possibly waste a little of their time on. He was pretty sure this was the kind of face Ryuusei was subjected to on a daily basis, so it was just karma it came round to him also.
“Actually, it’s been happening far too much recently. Maybe I’m not loved anymore, there are some cruel guys out there who literally bleed me dry then don’t wanna follow through, you know?”
Mikaku said with an exaggerated sigh. Thinking about it, he was pretty sure he had never treated this guy before, which meant his quirk and common injuries were either internal, or stuff like burns that he was infamously bad at healing and left it to people like Naibun-sensei to treat, or he a really careful guy.
“Can’t be that good at fucking up, as we haven’t known each other intimately yet…”
The support student grinned as he walked over to sit opposite Kazume on the floor, back against the railings. Wow, that was an impressive amount of cigarettes. If he had been anyone else (like Justice bot) he probably would have paled at the sight of an UA hero studies student… being a classical delinquent but to be honest, Mikaku did plenty of stuff like this too just...maybe not at school- so he wasn’t one who could say anything even if he wanted to, which he didn’t as he didn’t care enough, though usually he dressed it up as respecting personal freedom.
He didn’t smoke simply for the reason there was not much point and it would be far more unpleasant than it was worth. He had tried, ofcourse, and realised he could detect the 7,000 odd chemicals in the smoke and while none could harm him, some of them reacted weirdly with his quirk and it was just a bit too much going on in his head for it to be worth the style points.
“Hmmm~ I see~ seems like a regular thing you get up to.”
Mikaku ran a hand through his hair, pushing some back away from his face. He wondered when the last time he had actually sat outside like this in daytime was.... He actually couldn’t remember.

He didn't know the guy like he had studied up or anything, that level of effort was rarely reserved for students at U.A. of all things. Though that wasn't to say he didn't regularly study up on people, pick them apart and figure out what they were made of. It didn't matter how powerful his quirk was, and in reality it was only good for certain things (like destroying). Everything else he had to get ahead with his head. That meant figuring out the competition so to speak. As far as he knew, Mikaku Dokumi was a support student, which was not something that Kazume could understand because he was not someone that was capable of a support role. No, everything Kazume touched burned. He couldn't heal people if he fucking tried.
"Perhaps that's your fault, if you have that much faith they'll pay you back. Or whatever following through might be, of course." He said with a shrug. He wondered if it was at all hard for a boy like him, ever in the spotlight and never for anything to do with himself and everything to do with his family. Kazume was the opposite, his family was the shit people scrape off their shoes after they step on it. When they died there wasn't a funeral or a marker to remember them by, though Kazume wouldn't have cared if they did.
"You acquainted with many fuck ups?" He snorted then, "it's simple. Nothing touches me."
He glanced at the pile before his eyes fell elsewhere, wondering if now his spot was forever exposed and he would have to find another though they were become fewer and farther apart. Another thoughtless shrug at that accusation, "Gotta get away sometimes? What can I say, it's therapeutic and for me its not even bad for me."
"So what brings you up here? Just needed to scream at the heavens some?"

“Mmmmmm….I don’t want money or anything~”
Mikaku shrugged, like sure, he probably could make a lot of money from his quirk but he didn’t care enough about money to think that way. He knew he was privileged, but as he grew up in such an environment he couldn’t even think of a reason he’d want to charge.
“You know, other things~”
He added with a casual wink.
“Well~ It’s kinna my birth assigned role to sort out stuff when people fuck up.”
The support student shrugged, pushing himself off the bars he was leaning against and walking up to the other teen and crouching down beside him. Violet eyes went down to the other’s hand that was free and rubbed his own fingers over the other’s. He then moved the digits towards his lips, his tongue flicking out to taste his fingers. Something that would seem weird to most people who didn’t know his quirk, though with how well known it was that wasn’t too many people.
“Fire quirk huh? Traces of...carbon and stuff on your fingers and it isn’t from the cigarettes. Guess it explains why we don’t know each other yet…”
Most common injuries elemental users got were the kinds of things he wasn’t good at healing. Though clearly, this guy was very confident in himself to say something like that, it kind of made him smile a little.
“Nothing huh? What a shame~ If you let yourself get a few surficial cuts I could have lovingly tended to you!”
A light laugh as he shrugged to show he really didn’t care either way.
“Hey, if you like it, you do you. I ain’t gonna tell you what to do. And me? I was kinna bored I guess, and thought I’d waste some time and I guess it’s a good thing I did as I got to speak to Kazucchi~”
His tone was playful and light as it always was before he gazed away for a moment.
“Hey, Kazucchi...do you have stuff like siblings and things?”
It was a weirdly sudden question if someone didn’t know what was on the third year’s mind. Was he the only weird abomination who felt no strong connections with...like anyone? It sure felt like it...

It had been awhile since Kazume had just stopped and talked to anyone, without a raised voice or the inkling of a false image. The other boy had already caught him in his element, he'd already been partially exposed in a strange way though still kept his distance. Though he had a slight feeling that it was the other boy that was putting on airs, though not in the same way that Kazume did. He did it to fit it, to seem like one of them when he felt like anything but. He was not a hero like they were, his reasoning for doing any of this was selfish and opposing to justice for the most part.
He smirked at that response, at that wink.
"So you're a nurse. Makes sense I suppose, gotta have the bedside manners. Though 'birth-assigned' sounds like a crock of shit." He responded bluntly, piecing the other together in his mind. It wasn't inherent in his nature to trust a smile as anything but veiled lies; however, the school was full of smiling people. They couldn't all be liars, could they? He watched skeptically as the other boy drew closer, feeling himself pull up that armor that he always did when people drew too close for comfort. It was for their protect, not his own, he told himself. He had a way of burning everything that touched him, but the other pulled away after the uncomfortable groping of his finger before... tasting it. Kazume figured it to be a quirk thing, but his focus was on the fact he hadn't just cooked this guy alive. He knew somewhat about the other's quirk, had taken to studying others like he was detailing potential threats, but it was mostly intrigue.
"Combustion, it's ignition, not control. Do you greet all the people you meet with such forwardness. I usually require them to buy me dinner first." He played it off though there was still a stirring in his head.
He snorted at that, "At the sake of my reputation? You couldn't possibly be worth that."
"Aren't you lucky. Hopefully I don't disappoint." His company was not what many considered to be enjoyable and a guy like this was surrounded by far more intriguing and personable people than Kazume Ichida— whose quirk only know how to burn and singe and whose personality was either serrated or plastic.
The next question threw him off, mostly due to the fact he hated talking about himself and feared even more so exposing his rather numerous weaknesses. "I— no, I don't have any family." or anything like it. No siblings, and what family he did have he'd burned off the face of the earth, it wasn't on purpose but still... He wasn't in any hurry to admit to it. Was this guy playing with him or just idly questioning? He didn't know. "Why?"

“Ahahahaha welll~, I’m so super perfect for what I’ve been told to do, it makes me wonder if I was like, born to do it, you know~” Mikaku laughed, exaggerating the tone of his voice at parts to show he was joking. But actually, he was pretty sure he had, in one way or another been intentionally designed, created and birthed the way he had. His quirk was way too...suited to his family’s needs for a poster boy, and also to further research. In itself he didn’t really mind, but he had this strong suspicion his father at least, wasn’t his actual genetic father. Most likely a suited quirk donor father and his mother’s child. There was a reason for him to feel this way, the fact that he looked nothing like either of his parents or had a quirk anywhere close to either of them aside. When he was pretty young, around 10 years old and they were finally starting to work out how to make his quirk something useful, it was an exciting time for Mikaku. Yeah, the chemicals he had to take hurt quite a bit, but now it meant his quirk was something he could use to help people. Man, he was quite a cute kid, if he should say so himself! ANYWAY! He had started carrying little vitals of it around and one day at one of their “family breakfasts” where he ate with his parents once a month, they were eating when his father broke a glass in his hand and cut himself. As the servers cleaned up, Mikaku noticed that the man’s hand was cut and the boy downed one of the vitals in his pocket, gritting his teeth from the burning pain that traveled all the way down his gullet as he hopped off his chair and went to his side. “Papa, I’ll fix that!!”
Taking the man’s hand, he put it into his mouth, running his tongue over the small but quite deep cut. The taste of blood flooded his mind, assaulting the young Mikaku’s senses with a ton of information he could hardly process.
WaterAluminumArsenicCarbonCopperProteinCyanideGlucosamineGlycineGlycerolIronLeadAmino acidsMagnesiumPotassiumCalciumRetinolRiboflavinTestosteroneZincUreaAcetone Citric acid
He could also taste what he could only really explain as “what his father tasted like” and as he pulled away, he tilted his head in thought.
“There! All fixed, Papa!!”
He said brightly, smiling up at the man who seemed very impressed with what his son had done. He had read the reports but not seen it actually happen infront of him till them.
“But...you… taste...different to me…”
An innocent observation on his part, but it made his mother gasp loudly and drop her teacup with a loud smash.
And from then on mentioning the incident and anything around it became a taboo subject in the Dokumi household. But now Mikaku realised what he probably tasted was the DNA, and what he meant was that they didn’t have the same DNA make up. It was probably a part of his quirk that wasn’t developed much or something, but well he didn’t really think on it too hard. It really probably didn’t matter who his genetic parents...well, father was, did it? “Welll~ my track record recently in buying people dinner has never reached a satisfying ending…” He said with a shrug. “And hey~ I’m always forward, it’s the only way to go, right! Hey~ Why not~? I’d be worth it, I promise.” He was partially joking, it was just part of his vocabulary to flirt with everything that moved. But also because Kazucchi seemed like the sort of person he would love to tangle with, at least for a bit. “I was wondering why people… have such strong bonds with each other… like, to have an existence that would make you bend everything you believe in and live for...that’s…” Mikaku blinked, catching himself before he poured out his inner thoughts to the dude from 3-A. It wasn’t even some kind of pillow talk to draw him in more or something, they were just sitting on the rooftop of their school for godssake. “Hmmm~ I see~ Wait, do you live at the dorms then? Dun think I’ve seen you around, I break in on an almost daily basis!” Mikaku forced himself to shift tones as the conversation was starting to become real talk, and Dokumi Mikaku didn’t do real talk.

"No, can't say I know. Not personally at least. Must be nice, though." It wasn't uttered bitterly, but he felt it. It was an obscure feeling, to momentarily hate someone he knew very little from very limited interaction. Kazume wasn't necessarily shy with his hatred, or self-proposed, though he didn't really hate anyone more than he hated himself. He had come to this place to be something better, but he felt his progress was dismal if not non-existent entirely. The other boy was a healer, with parents that were proud of him, and what did Kazume have? A destructive quirk without the power to even properly control. He remembered his first year at U.A. and how his temper had gotten someone seriously hurt. He had grown somewhat, of course, but that threat was always lingering.
If he didn't steady himself, people could die, they had in the past..
He focused on the other boy's expression, the way his eyes slipped away (no longer among them, perhaps somewhere distant in the past). He was a pretty guy, that much was for certain, and the bastard knew it. He could still feel Mika's finger on his and quickly slipped on his gloves he'd had laying beside the ashtray. Not many people got away with contact with him, not without a burn, but he suppose Mika was not just anyone now was he? To state such a fact would only feed the idiot's ego tho.
"Maybe you're not as impressive as you think you are then?" He said with a simple shrug, stating a fact more so than an attempt at insulting him. Mika didn't seem to him like someone that was easily insulted, unlike himself (annoyingly). "Depends on what you consider satisfying.. maybe your expectations are a touch to high for some of these kids."
The other was certainly a persuasive little fuck, wasn't he? Could have asked for anything and likely was no stranger to receiving what he asked for. All the poor boys and girls that carved out their hearts for this boy and he likely left them broken and sobbing wrecks. And he did so with that sweet smile on his face and a wink that says, you wish you could. Kazume wasn't prone to jumping to such advances though even less likely to fall for them. He had been broken enough times in the past to learn from his mistakes and a spoiled rich boy like Mikaku Dokumi was nothing new.
The next statement managed to catch him off guard.
He likely knew even less than Mika did on such a subject. His parents had had no love for him, his grandmother even less so, and friends were a commodity he could not afford. "I heard someone say that people are fueled by a fear of loneliness. There is nothing more powerful or terrifying than the thought of dying alone and forgotten. Of someone saying your name and everyone saying 'who?' Maybe that has something to do with it. As you can see, I'm not an expert on the subject." He said with a shrug, motioning at the empty hideaway.
"I do, but I don't linger."
He paused at that, thinking about what the other had said earlier, "You said it'd be worth it, huh?" At that, he plucked a pocket knife from his jacket. Without another word, he drew the blade across his palm and the skin split apart through the threads and fibers of cloth of his glove and blood spilled across his palm. He held up his hand. "There, I'm wounded, heal me."

“Well, I can’t complain I guess. There are worse problems to have.”
Mikaku meant it, he had seen so many people throughout his three years in U.A who drove themselves forward even with quirks that were not exactly the best things in the world, or with drawbacks that made people like him question whether it was worth putting yourself through so much to help others.
One may argue he always used his quirk without batting an eyelid even though it did hurt, but well, it wasn’t like it permanently damaged him and he was more than used to it now to the point he only really dreaded taking the death potion. So he didn’t count in his mind. But the files he had read of people he took an interest in to see how to support and treat them better, it made him wonder why people went that far to help others. It was kind of… admirable in a way. To have something you feel so strongly for, to want to upkeep, protect, and the confidence and determination to follow it through.
As for Mikaku, he was scared of having anything like that because he was pretty sure he’d fuck it up somehow and do something that would ruin it all. And how would he ever be able to live with that? No, it was better to be impartial, neither here or there, but generally just likeable and charming. That if anything went wrong it was no big loss, but at the same time it sort of took the edge off loneliness, enough to survive. That was how he was planning to live the rest of his life. It suited someone who couldn’t love anyone but himself.
“Ahahahaha ahhh~ I hope not!”
The support student seemed not to take offense at all. As much as he was vain, he also did play up on it just a bit. It was part of his charm!
“Maybe a bit too grown up for them huh~? Tho when I was that age pretty sure I was up to all sorts… but ha~ maybe putting myself as standard may be where I’m going wrong~”
He fully well knew what he did was not the nicest thing in the world. A good, decent person would follow through with any budding personal relationship with respect and dedication, let it run its course at least, but he felt like he was being kind by putting the cards on the table right at the start. It wasn’t like he hadn’t tried before, the whole relationship thing, and by “try” that meant a whole few days, but it just felt...wrong. He thought nothing about lying a few dozen white lies here and there and everywhere, but even someone like him felt bad leading people on. It was much easier to make it a simple give and take thing, no complicated emotions involved. And if they started forming, that was game over and time to move on and start anew.
The only issue was, many people, even if they were initially happy with this arrangement, after a while the base human instinct to monopolise came into play and everything became a mess.
But Mikaku couldn’t stop doing it. Even if he knew it would hurt people.
Wow, he was quite an asshole, huh?
“Of someone saying your name and everyone saying 'who?'...hmmm...”
Mikaku understood a bit too well. He had always strived to be known as himself, and he supposed that might be why he was so nice to everyone. He wanted people to remember him fondly. Yes, it did sort of go against his other hobby of philandering, but that was exactly why he had the tact and way with words so no one truly hated him, or at least he hoped anyway.
“It’s complicated, huh? It’s tiring being around others, but at the same time, sucks to be alone all the time. Why are humans like this? Heh.”
It was why he lived alone. He could easily live in the dorms but he didn’t think he could stand being around others that long. But at the same time he regularly went to harass Ryuusei and the others. He just wanted to be a small part of those things people did everyday that seemed so foreign to him. To watch. To observe. And maybe become a better, more functional person. Okay the last one was a bit of a reach goal. He smiled, chuckling to himself to make light of the situation just a little, or so he hoped.
What the redhead did next was unexpected, even by Mikaku standards and he was in an agency with people like Jon who pulled all kinds of crap and he had seen years worth of U.A students do very bizarre and dumb things.
“What do you-”
A brow hitched in question before violet eyes widened in shock. This guy was actually crazy. Like crazier than Ryuusei’s mad stunt he pulled recently kind of crazy. However, clearly he was getting the hang of this support business as he was already reaching out for a small blue vital from his blazer pocket, pulling off the plastic cork and tipping the contents of the liquid into his mouth and down his throat.
“Whoa, whoa, you could have just told me and I’d have shown you in a less painful way…” He said laughing a little shaking his head as he moved up a little closer, kneeling on one knee before the other male, his eyes now a bright pink as his quirk activated, processing the cocktail of chemicals he had ingested.
“You are actually crazy.”
His tone wasn’t scolding or exasperated, however, and more of a rather amused tone as he took the gloved, now bloodied hand in his own and studied it.
“But fine, fine, as you went this far to see the healing part of my quirk work, I have to deliver, huh?”
Of course he could do things the normal way and extract some blood. Hell, with how the cut looked, a small smear from a cut would heal it. But he was in a mood to tangle further with the other, if it was just to see if he would recoil in disgust like some did, or what kind of reaction would he give.
He could feel the burning in his throat start to dull and he knew his quirk was starting to work and so he leant down, his own fingers holding Kazume’s fingers a little firmer before his head went down, pressing his lips against one end of the cut, as if kissing his hand, his eyes half lidded. However, he paused for a good moment to collect more saliva in his mouth before he stuck out the tip of his tongue, running it slowly up the cut, taking care to liberally whet the injury site. The skin started to warp and stick back together, he was pretty sure it wouldn’t leave a scar as it wasn’t too deep, in his experience only things at least 2cm in depth left a notable scar and as he had got to it pretty much immediately… hopefully it was okay. Oh, so this was what this guy tasted like. Interesting.

"What, born with the perfect quirk and being perfectly capable of using said quirk? Yeah worse things, trust me." He didn't like to discuss his own quirk, it was usual a very vague summary of 'I make things combust into flames or explode' and whatever happened after things lit up... well that was out of his control. The flames didn't hurt him and, in fact, it was strangely relaxing to sit there and bake— become one with the inferno. It was everything else that was at risk from him. He could excel at every written and physical test put in front of him, but the second that control became the topic of the day, his number plummeted the second things got out of hand and they had a nasty way of doing so quite immediately depending on the circumstances.
"Maybe you're just attracted to douche-bags and shitty lays." Kazume stated with a simple shrug.
Kazume was not one to talk when it came to judging the other's lack of commitment. He was not the type to stick around either and he had crushed plenty of people in his lifetime, not always for the same reason. He had burned people simply for daring to get too close to him. And now? Now, he was afraid of himself— afraid of what he could do to someone if his control slipped for even just a second. It was his third year and he had problems with things that first years struggled with. He could be at the top of the class all he wanted in books smarts and tests, but he was always the last on dependability and control. He was use to being the last man picked on jobs, the one people only went to reluctantly when there were no other options because they knew he was a shit team members and an even shittier friend. Kazume knew his own flaws better than anyone.
Yet he was oh too willing to call this guy out for being a bit flaky with his dates. Fucking typical.
And this guy didn't even have the sense or perhaps the grit to call him out on his shit. He didn't even have the sense to get away or to know just how lucky he had been just to have touched him without getting burned.
Then again, Mikaku Dokumi didn't know Kazume and he himself knew only assumptions about this boy.
"We are a species of deceivers willing to lie even to ourselves just to fit in." That he knew quite personally, he was often lying to others. Slipping into different personas, just so he didn't have to feel like the odd man out.
He probably should have told the other boy to leave, to fuck off, but he didn't. Instead, he decided to act like a fucking crazy person and he couldn't quite blame Mika's reaction when he split the skin of his palm right through the glove. Probably shouldn't have put the damn glove on (the action was an impulse and the gloves were others protection from himself), but he had plenty of replacements, so he rolled the torn remains and flung it off the rooftop before holding his hand out for the other to fix.
"Maybe a little bit, are you scared of me?" He asked curiously though the question felt strange on his tongue. "Well I had been thinking of sticking myself with the end of the cigarette but that's not super effective for obvious reasons and no pain, no gain, right?"
"Yeah, suppose you do. Though not sure I'll die or anything if you don't." The air and the slightest particles of salt on his skin burned at the sliced cut. He watched the other move patiently, curious of what he would do. He'd heard something of what the other could do and had a faint idea considering the other had just tasted his quirk, but even then was still mildly surprised when the other dipped down over his hand and he felt something hot and wet press to the cut. Only then did he flinch, biting down on a hiss, more out of the suddenness of the feeling than the pain or anything remotely resembling disgust. Though there was a touch of pain to it, as he very rarely actually received physical blows as his quirk had a way of burning through most attacks. Truthfully, he could have cauterized the wound on his own, and he had in the past, but the result was often ugly (he had a pretty nasty scar from it on his waist after he got cut when he was a child). This bastard was actually licking his wound and healing it. It was... well... strangely sexy.
"Do you lick most of the people you meet or am I special?"

“I know, I know~ It’s why I said, it would be a sin not to use it, or something like that. I guess even people like me have to benefit the world with more than just my beauty and sexiness, huh?”
It was hard to tell when Mikaku was serious and when he wasn’t- because he never sounded like he meant anything he said. It suited him that way, even if he knew some people hated that, like the looks Ryuusei gave him every time they worked together. But it was fine, it was exactly what he wanted, being serious was ...heavy. Suffocating, too much responsibility. Maybe, no, he definitely was too childish and needed to grow up but he just couldn’t stomach that kind of concept, not now, who knows, maybe never.
BUT HEY!
If everyone was serious the world would just break in half from the stiffness, right? So people like him were absolutely necessary! Atleast, this was his excuse for his behavior 99.9% of the time.
“Maybe, maybe I just am unlucky in love or I have awful taste in people~ Who knows! But how can I say no when everyone is so cute and beautiful?”
The white haired teen laughed lightly, the wind at the top of the building ruffling his hair and mostly into his face, making him have to shove it away so he could see.
“Even to ourselves...huh.”
Did he lie to himself? Maybe, on the surface, yes. But he wasn’t sure he was good enough at lying to make himself believe most of the bullshit he came out with. It was mainly theatrics, an act, a role and archetype he played, of what was expected when one looked at the character known as Mikaku Dokumi. Couldn’t disappoint everyone by playing him wrong, could he?
“Aren’t you acting a role around everyone to make sure you have a place in this world...by not fitting in?”
He asked smoothly, his gaze at the other young male cool and a little too knowing, his voice a little lower, almost sensual, as if it would reach the depth of one’s conscious if his normal tone was one that stroked the surface of someone. A slight tilt of the head in question, a shift of the brow in question. But the moment passed almost in an eyeblink, and his expression changed back to the easy going, almost too over the top one he usually had.
“Scared? Nahhhh, I’ve seen kids burst out their rib cage in the name of heroics, people be super crazy here! And well… I can hardly tell the next person anything about cutting themselves open…ahaha Kazucchi!! That’s where you are meant to say yes, please ease my pain, my angelic savior! Heh. How can I leave you bleeding like that? What do you take me for, some cold hearted bastard??”
Mikaku talked a lot. It was his way of making things flow smoothly, be in control of the situation. Everything would go his way if he was the one leading the situation by being the MC.
“...Okay, okay don’t answer that one I know exactly what you wanna say.”
He added with a chuckle as he watched the wound close up. His body was on top form today too! Ayyy~ (To be honest if it wasn’t he was screwed but whatever.)
“Well~ No, I don’t usually use my quirk this way.”
He admitted as he gently released his hold on the other’s fingers, though not before pressing a small kiss on the gloved knuckles. He could feel the slight warmth of Kazume’s digits radiate through the fabric as he pulled away. Oh, was this guy’s quirk via touch by any chance? Was it why he put gloves on? Hmm… he had to ask Naibun-sensei for his file later on, he was kinna curious now.
“But I dunno if you would be super confused if I went menhara not-a-boyfriend on your ass suddenly...”
He motioned a finger slashing against his wrist in a cutting motion.
“...so I guess you’re a bit special.”
Mikaku added with a wink before he slowly stood up, stretching with a soft groan.
“Though you know, if you wanted to swap DNA with me you coulda just asked~ And I thought you want dinner before we do stuff like that~”
He teased as he rotated his shoulders before shaking the stiffness of sitting on the floor out of his body.
“So~ What do you say? Wanna go somewhere to eat first~?”

"Are you usually this full of yourself?" He asked with a wry half-smile, not entirely mean in his tone. It was more so curious, he really wasn't one to talk as he had plenty of confidence himself though likely in different ways than Mikaku Dokumi. His own confidence was born out of a raw, feral need to prove himself, to be seen, to extinguish any possibility of becoming purposeless again. Did the other boy even understand how it felt to want that? Kazume figured that there likely wasn't a single day in Mika's life that wasn't purposeful, where people didn't look at him like he was the pinnacle of desire or fulfillment. Kaz quickly backpedaled as he felt bitterness seep into his thoughts, it was a sensation that had no use to him so he didn't enjoy feeling it. He didn't enjoy feeling sorry for himself. That didn't change a goddamn thing.
Everyone is so cute and beautiful? This guy had to be joking, right? The expressed thought was written pretty plaintively on the redhead's face. He didn't buy a fucking thing that this guy was spouting.
Then the asshole had to go an ask a real question and Kazume was left sitting there and feeling like an idiot, trying to stir up his own kind of lie to cover up for the truth in those words. The tone felt and sounded vaguely different then and Kaz felt like for just a second he scratched beneath the fake surface, but he didn't like what he found or rather that the bastard was more clever than he let on. "I... This isn't about me, though." He retorted none too smoothly in return. Wasn't it about himself though? There he was accusing the other man of being fake, and he was the person who would sooner wear a thousand faces than wear his real one. He could put on a smile, lie through his teeth just so people couldn't see the ugly thing beneath. That or the indifference, the brutality, the 'get away from me as soon as you can' face so that he didn't have to commit to getting close to anyone. It was convenient.
It was easier to focus on his self-inflicted wound then and not on those damn eyes.
"Okay then my angelic savior, fix me." He said then, his tone deadpanned though with a hint of humor applied to the curve of his lips, silently amused by the other's words.
"I don't take you for a cold-hearted bastard." Kaz said plainly then, "I'm not sure what to take you for yet."
It was honest, and honesty didn't come natural to him.
"You actually pick people up using those tactics? Terrible." He said with a laugh, happy that the other was no longer touching on him, as discomfort had the nasty way of raising his temperature beyond simply discomforting levels and burning the guy who just healed him seemed kind of rude. "You must think you're awfully smooth or that I'm easy." Wasn't he though?
Well he wasn't easily charmed at least and he wasn't exactly charmed but intrigued, sure.. And he'd be lying if the other boy didn't have reasons to being so fucking confident. How many other idiots fell into this trap? He wasn't that stupid, but as far as he saw it 'no harm, no foul.' It still amazed him that this idiot had so many people fawning over him. He inhaled one last time on the lit cigarette, filling the air between them with a haze of smoke, before sitting up from his lawn chair. "Yeah sure, what the hell. You're buying tho, rich boy. Impress me."

“Yep! I’m always 100% confident about myself, it’s one of my charm points!”
Mikaku replied jokingly. Well, it wasn’t a lie, of course he played it up quite a bit for the bants but it wasn’t like he lacked confidence in the slightest, about most things at least. When he heard that slight falter in the other teen’s voice, he realised he had touched something a little too intimate, that much too personal.
Oops.
Good thing it seemed they were as eager as he was to change the subject, getting back on track to the sort of innuendo filled, playful exchanges that was far more in both their comfort zones. He had said the words simply as they came to mind, it wasn’t like he intended to pry or make things awkward. That wasn’t his idea of a good time, and he was probably not the kind of person anyone would want to have those kinds of heartfelt conversations with.
“Well~ Now you have all evening to decide what you make of me, huh?”
The white haired young man said brightly as he watched the other get up.
“Hey, hey I never said anything like that, and I have no clue what you’re talking about, if nothing I am amazingly charming~!”
He laughed lightly before nodding.
“Well, I did invite you so only fair, I suppose. Any preferences on where you wanna go?”
Impress him. Wow, sounded like a challenge if there was one. Sure, he’d be up for playing those kinds of games. He walked towards the door, the bell for the end of school had not gone yet but luckily, they were third years who could be leaving school early for legitimate reasons... As he moved, he pulled out his phone and started to message his driver while he was at it.
