SILVER SPOONS IN THIS HOUSEHOLD?! -- Selam rarely complains about anything at all, having forged a mentality of getting the job done by any means necessary because of his upbringing in his native country of Ethiopia. He is used to having to be uncomfortable in challenging circumstances, mostly related to poverty. Over the years he has grown wary of people overall, believing that he has few things in common with those who came from favorable backgrounds. A major factor behind his transfer was a problem with authority, not putting much weight behind one’s title or position no matter the circumstance unless there are clear signs or information that they earned their place.
YOU CHANGE THE WINDS!! -- Using his Quirk to help his friends and to develop himself from humble beginnings, Selam strongly believes that anyone is capable of raising their station in society or achieving what they set their mind too. He avoids negativity like the plague, repulsing the notion that a person is just being “realistic” when offering counter arguments ; That is all perception-based to Selam and keeps his mind focused on all the advantages present rather than the disadvantages. Even though someone may have dreams and aspirations out of their capabilities in the PRESENT time, he is extremely encouraging in finding solutions to achieve one’s goals, specifically in changing routines and/or ways of thinking that are an hindrance if they are serious about what they want to accomplish. People who speak to him at length sometimes feel inspired, an unintentional effect from the rare moments he speaks about his beliefs or himself.
LOSING IT ALL, ISN’T IT AWESOME?! -- A major part of his motivation to do certain things is based on gambling. He has unwavering confidence in himself and will jump into the most seemingly unfavorable battles, situations etc for the high-risk, high reward excites him and makes him feel alive. Certain victory is boring to him and performs his best under pressure with his back against the wall, willing to lose himself in the gamble of life and death bordering on insane. Whether he loses a gamble or not has no effect on him, for the thrill and grind to the climax, even if against him, makes it exciting for Selam. He will bring others into his dangerous antics, driven by his addiction that overpowers his protective nature once he gets on a roll. The best gamble is in sacrifice to others.
SORT OF KINDA? -- Generally would be considered polite and generous, but Selam is not one to go out of his way to say things out of turn or without being asked. He’d rather observe than speak most of the time, but loves being in a group in social settings as he was raised by an entire village in Ethiopia and loves being apart of a bigger goal. His love of gambling with his own life and testing his own abilities creates problems, he finds it difficult to cooperate with others on missions and rather be left to his own devices to avoid friendly fire.
HUH?? -- He knows mostly proper English taught to him in school in Ethiopia and a majority of popular idioms/jokes elude him the first time around. He has no shame in asking questions about things he does not understand and will refrain from speaking upon topics he has no knowledge about rather than speculating. He’s pretty bad at understanding jokes too, usually the only one not laughing due to lack of understanding. Sometimes an explanation has to be given so others do not believe he is being rude or lacking humor, but overall strives to be in the loop even if just a little bit.

The beginning of Ife’s story begins in the capital of Nairobi, born to a half-Japanese half Ethiopian Pro Hero mother named Blanket and an Ethiopian Pro Hero father named Magnus. The chance of them meeting and having related quirks is beyond the calculations of mathematicians, but it happened and Ife came to be. They both had a great deal of help with raising Ife from their surrounding family and neighbors, playing major parts in his development as a youth. His parents would alternate between their duties as heroes to take of Ife until his quirk manifested around 4-5 years old, which then led both of them to decide to bring him along to the Hero Agency to keep a better watch on him. The heroes loved Ife, besides all the times he would melt through random objects, supervising his growth with an abundance of love. Everyone realized how important it was for Ife to be in a loving environment, encouraged to experiment with his Quirk and simply be a child.
Magnus, his father, was a stoic. Said very little, each word as heavy as the responsibility he bore as a hero. He would talk to him for the shortest periods of time, whatever was available to Magnus to spend with his son. It could be while brushing his teeth in the morning, sitting on the toilet, but time was made. Everyday Ife witnessed his parents work ethic and relentless effort to be good parents, sparking inspiration within his soul to do the same. They were not perfect however, Blanket frequently teaching Ife about life lessons over a game of Go or Poker, which is where his gambling tendencies started to develop.
Despite his upbringing and being surrounded by talent, his friends were mostly Quirkless but full of happiness and passion despite their circumstances. Around them was poverty, corruption in the government and infighting, consequences that bled into the citizens of the continent itself as villians ran rampant across metropolitan areas and worse the countryside. Many villians secretly held positions that granted them power and abused it profusely, making the lives of the people difficult. Ife would share his clothing, food, toys, anything and everything with the children who lived in his neighborhood who were dealt a different hand than him in this life. They were always coming over to hang out and frequently ate with his family who welcomed even their parents with open arms. There were moments when they would get beat up on the way home or accused of stealing just for being around crimes started by the street urchins, and it caused Ife much pain. They would go into detail about officers, local marketplace owners, anyone with influence stomping them out like trash. A growing hate manifested in his heart, vowing to be a Hero for the right reasons.
Soon though, as word got out about Ife’s rapid progression with his Quirk, he was taken by the Sunshine Stars Hero Academy in South Africa amid other rising talents across the continent and began a different life under their tutelage around the age of 13. They took kids younger than most other places around the world to avoid the most talented being swept up by the villians or their environments. The change was very abrupt, forced upon Magnus and Blanket. If they were to say no, they would be stripped of their hero licenses. Anxious and furious, he retaliated against the officials who came to take him away, blasting waves of Lava and Ash in every direction and then shortly passing out from exhaustion and overuse. The aftermath was indescribable, more evidence for them to remove him from the country and under the care professional Hero’s in a more controlled environment.
He fought hard the first year, focused on his studies and remained notably dedicated to his own self improvement throughout the years. Ife wasn’t always at the top of his class when it came to anything outside of combat related, but did not let himself get discouraged at shortcomings that came his way. Humility and grateful flooded his heart everyday, strengthening his resolve to carry forward. Throughout the process and over the years, his classmates began to alienate him, becoming disgruntled with his brash tactics and inability to contain avoid crossfire, nearly melting the class on numerous occasions, even successfully injuring his allies. Slowly, the dilemma of uncontrolled prowess condemned Ife to solitary lessons, constant observation and evaluations of his psychology and other restrictive measures taken by the academy who were at their wits end right around before the summer began going into his third year. They called their last hope.
Magnus stepped in.
In short, he disciplined Ife as a father should and made him realize that he was not a hopeless cause if he quickly made changes. Through conversations only a father and son could have, he was able to convince him and the others at the school to let him make amends for what he had done over the past two years, in exchange for a second chance and being transferred over to U.A. They were known for success across the board and the ideal place for his talents. Profusely apologizing and lowering himself in front of his classmates, faculty and even Pro Heroes he worked alongside with, the reaction was mixed. Some gave blessings and forgiveness, some gave him tough love and others were just glad he left, Ife made amends the best ways he could.
With the end of Summer, he held his head high walking through the gates of U.A, a fresh start.

THE ARMORY
WHERE’S MAH SUPAH SUIT?! -- A simple half white, half red bodysuit with solid golden rings circling the entire arm starting from the wrists and ending at the shoulders. It comes with a breathing mask that allows him to breathe in his extremely thick volcanic ash but thinner gases and the suit itself can withstand temperatures up to 2500 Celsius to allow Selam to avoid burning himself from his own lava and other high temperatures.
QUIRK & SKILLS
Brick and Mortar
TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: C+
SUMMARY:
Selam’s quirk is called Brick and Mortar, a dual type quirk of Lava and Volcanic Ash. His appearance his permanently altered because of the quirk, the left side of his face being peppered with molten rock, surrounded by a red tint signifying that they’re emitting heat. The right side of his face has what looks like a birth mark, a gray spot that covers mostly his forehead and around his eye, ending right above his check and reaching to the corner of his nostril. He can manipulate both lava and volcanic ash freely, with his left and right hands respectively. After two posts from emitting said lava, it will become hard rock and be able to stop up to steel weapons, C- and up abilities will destroy it with relative ease.
With Lava, he is able to use it in a variety of ways such as jet streams (1 post recharge, up to 20 feet and it is 5x5 feet wide, also can be used to send himself airborne, no continuous streams, launchpad type deal), waves of lava similar to what you’d see in the ocean, (3 post recharge, 10 by 10 feet up to 20 feet) as well as his super move where he coats the entire area in lava as a way to take out large groups of enemies as they close in for a last resort. (One thread per use 30 X 30 yard radius around the user. 10 yard first post, 2nd is 20, 3rd post is 30) Currently, it takes his lava about 2 POSTS to burn through steel. However, concentrated streams lets him go through it within 1 POST. (3 post recharge, repeated use will cause dehydration and him to pass out, mostly reserved for escaping enemies and having to use repeatedly in creating new pathways. Max 3 time per thread)
With the Volcanic Ash, his two uses for it is a jet stream that fans out like a cone to impair and suffocate his enemies at close range (up to 10 ft, 5x5 cone shape, 2 post recharge) and a super move where he blankets the area in front of him in a cloud of smoke to escape or to create a smoke screen for allies who have the ability to breath in the ash. (One thread per use, 40 x 40ft cone in front of him that fans out. 10ft 1st post, 25ft 2nd post, 40ft 3rd post.)
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
EVERYONE, WATCH OUT!! -- A major weakness to his quirk that it does not discriminate between ally or foe. He can hold his own against mobs of enemies, however his allies will be caught in the crossfire. Lava attacks spraying across the battlefield have the potential to hurt civilians in urban areas, other heroes if engaged in close combat with the enemy. His volcanic ash and sulfur could suffocate anyone without a breathing mask, more suitable as an escape method rather than a smoke screen.
I NEEEEED ITTT!!! -- His cooldowns are crucial to him being able to last in elongated fights, unable to effectively use his abilities in quick succession without risks. He dehydrates his body at a rapid rate, as it comes from both quirks. If he goes over his limits, he is significantly slowed and is in danger of heat-stroke, burning internal organs, as well as needing to rest for long periods of time to regain his strength and to rehydrate. If for whatever reason he decides to use a super move more than once in a thread, he will instantly pass out and need immediate medical attention, typically needing the expertise of a Hero with a medical quirk. 8 posts per thread of constant use is his limit before feeling the effects of his quirk, excluding the usage of the super moves which both take up four posts worth of energy.
He has an elemental weakness to ice and wind, for his quirks respectively. If water clashes with Ife's lava, it will turn into solid volcanic rock, however Ice would make it very brittle and ineffective, stopping his quirk in its tracks. His volcanic ash, albeit thick from the particles of rocks, minerals and glass that composes it, can be blown away with strong enough winds. This can cause an adverse effect on the environment, injuring civilians and contaminating water supplies/ecosystems.

ATHLETE
RANK/LEVEL: C+
SUMMARY:
Raised among heroes and the harsh climate of Ethiopia, his body is well built similar to that of a college athlete. He has a vertical jump of about 42 inches, can keep up with most people around his rank and has average strength. He uses his athleticism to evade attacks as he prepares his next attacks.
Martial Arts
RANK/LEVEL: C
SUMMARY:
Throughout his time in school/internships, Ife has gotten guidance and real world experience on realizing his shortcomings and limitations. Understanding his strengths are primarily between mid to long range fights, he has made sure to seek out assistance for close-combat. He primarily focuses on Judo and Aikido, wanting to be able to use his opponents aggressive attacks against them, creating distance between himself and them with the use of a variety of throws, trips and grappling. With Aikido, he can redirect their forward momentum away his body, knocking them off-balance. It is within these small windows of opportunity where Ife capitalizes on the most, creating distance when need be.
