Ah the gym. Where sweat is being shed to gain muscles. Or in the training arena to hone your hand to hand combat skills against live opponents. Kyou Kazumi wore his PE uniform, a white shirt with blue sleeves and blue track pants, plus white tennis shoes. He was on the sidelines staring at his phone as two muscle bound morons pummeled each other in the from of traditional boxing. He was supposed to have met with Hyousuke for another round of beating the crap out of each other. Maybe he was also going to ask if Hyousuke intended to learn some restraining moves...perhaps even show a few himself. Sure, the blond may one day have to use it against him, but depending on the guy's reason for being a hero, he wouldn't mind it that much. But unfortunately, the guy was late. Much later than normal. And there was the text! Of course something came up at school, so he couldn't be here today. Sighing heavily, Kyou looked around. He needed to blow off some steam. Otherwise, he was going to go back to his old antics of ambushing randoms and seeing what kind of resolve they had in staying alive.
Looking around, he didn't really see anyone that would give him any kind of challenge. Then someone new came in. White hair, about the same height as him. Raising an eyebrow, he recognized the guy. Last time he saw the guy was at the Sports Festival. How enjoyable. Was a bit of a firecracker too. Guy seemed like he was looking for someone, too. With a wolfish grin, the blazing red head walked over to him. "Hey, firecracker. What's going on? Been able to prove yourself against your classmates yet?" Kyou had Shou-chan do some checking on this guy. The spawn of some big shot in the US that moved back here. Mostly rescue missions. Still, perhaps Keni had what it would take to sate his desire to take someone on on mostly equal footing.

Another day, another perfect time to train. At least in the eyes of a particularly semi over driven first year, whose goal in life is to become the number one hero. Though on the flip side the young hero in training has become a bit less intense than when he first started UA. All thanks to the experiences he's had since coming to this well acclaimed academy. So deciding to switch things up today Keni decided that instead of going and training with Byakuya like he's been doing for the past few weeks. The fiery airbender decided that he'd instead go and try some hand to hand combat training seeing as wanted to further broaden his skill set. After all if Misaki and Hise were any indications, sharpening his normal combat skills could only be seen as an asset. So with this Keni figured he'd go check out that gym Jun had told him about on his first day of UA, plus it didn't hurt that Jun had spoken highly of some kid named Hyousuke that frequented this particular gym and was greatly adept in this particular style of combat. Besides after the fun he had fighting the dual elemental, how could Keni not be stoked to fight/meet someone that Jun spoke so highly of. Dressed in a somewhat form fitting black sleeveless T. With the black basketball shorts along with his white and black sneaker to match Keni was ready to hit the gym.
Upon entering the gym Keni soon found himself wandering around as he tried to find Hyousuke. Hmmm, maybe he's not here? Well there goes that plan. If I was smart I was thinking I would have messaged him on the school chat to see if he'd even be here before just showing up. I've really got to get a better handle on my fighting spirit. Oh well, just because he's not here doesn't mean I can't still get some training in. Just as Keni had finished his train of thought he'd spot the redhead he met back at the Sports Festival. Upon being addressed by the scarlet haired boy Keni would think to himself, Firecracker? Bringing himself back to reality Keni respectfully acknowledged the semi known stranger with a head nod. "Hey yourself hot head. I'm doing fine, just came to get some training in." responded Keni, however a split second before he could answer the boys last question the white haired 1B student instinctually found himself placing a hand on the shoulder where Jun and scared him, and with a fond smile he say, "I'm not quite sure." Keni knew that Jun had left a great impression on him, but for all intent and purposes Keni wasn't sure if he made an impression on the blonde spark plug. After all he did lose the fight, not that he felt bad or minded it, after all it just helped to further stoke his fire. As well as setting him on new and more adventurous course. Especially since he himself couldn't wait to see how Jun would progress talent wise, as well as ideal wise. Seeing as their sparring match had went from a simple test of skills to a battle of wills. Each fighting for their own belief of what makes a hero. "So what brings you here? Planning on a going a few rounds of boxing?" asked Keni as he nodded to the two boxers trading blows in the ring just a few feet away from.

He greeted the red head and touched his shoulder, not quite sure if he'd accomplished his goal or not. But it was clear there was a huge fight that might have left a little something there. Smirking, he kept the thought to himself. It really shouldn't be too surprising that some overzealousness occurs during training matches. He looked at the training ring and scowled. "Boxing bores me. Too easy to predict. Has some uses, but otherwise is best done in the ring. My best friend disagrees, but it does work well with his quirk." Looking back at the silver haired boy, he did answer the question. "I was meeting one of your classmates here for a training match, but something apparently came up and he had to cancel. Hyousuke Suzuki is his name. Keeps me on my toes, but has yet to actually beat me in a match yet. But he also makes me earn each victory too..."
He looked the guy over in a much more predatory manner. Like a wolf eyeing it's prey. "Say...if you're up to it, no quirks, full blown sparring match? I'm always looking for a good fight to blow off some steam...these losers are no challenge at all.." He pointed at the boxers behind him, and held a predatory grin at the kid. He hoped he read the guy right, and would agree to the challenge. As nice it was to have a regular sparring partner in the form of Hyousuke, having a second one from UA would be quite the boon to him.

As the crimson haired boy went on about how he found boxing more or less useless, Keni found himself slightly wondering what it was he was going to do for training. He could hit up a punching bag if he felt so inclined to, or he would do some jumping jacks with an alternating rep of jump rope thrown in the mix. Yes Keni had quite a few options he could choose from but the 1B student would soon find his interest suddenly peaked upon hearing the other boy's statement.
"I was meeting one of your classmates here for a training match, but something apparently came up and he had to cancel. Hyousuke Suzuki is his name. Keeps me on my toes, but has yet to actually beat me in a match yet. But he also makes me earn each victory too..."
Wait a second he knows Hyousuke!? And not only that but Hyousuke hasn't been able to beat him even once? How is that possible, how could someone so highly recommended from Jun not even be able to win a single match against this dude. This guy has to be extremely good for Hyousuke to lose to him. With that being the case do I even stand a chance against him, especially without my quirk? Thought Keni as his face dawned a look of intrigue which was now solely directed towards Kyou. It had been a while since Keni fought anyone without the use of his quirk to augment his speed or throwing power, whether it was in a hand to hand or an all out fight. As Keni stared at Kyou, he'd remember his fight with Misaki and smile. "Sure, I'm in. After all who am I to go against fate. Hyousuke is this reason we're both here, but seeing as he himself is missing in action who's to say you and I can't enjoy our self." smirked Keni as he found the prospect of fighting Kyou exhilarating. Assuming of course the scarlet hair boy wasn't lying about him and Hyousuke's bouts with another. "Lead the way, and let's get this party started." Keni's eyes reflected a calm storm at this point as he was beyond excited but at the same time was still in full control. After facing Jun, Keni not only began training his quirk but his mind as well. For Keni had noticed that he allowed himself to be so enthralled by the amazing fight/ opponent he was facing that he stopped thinking ahead. Causing him to make reckless mistakes, and sure it's alright to be completely into a fight but he had to find a balance. And though he'd been working on it, this fight would be his second attempt at actually applying his newly trained level headedness. Luckily his first attempt with the second year Hise had went off without a hitch for him. And now he was going to see if he could pull it if off again with Kyou. As Keni followed Kyou to the ring he'd think to himself, I have no idea what this guy can do so I need to be careful. And not only that but just like against Hise I need to keep a level head and pool everything I've learned from every fight I 've had thus far. Misaki, Jun, and Hise those opponents have made me better and now I'll use everything I've picked up and learned from them to take on this unknown opponent.

Kyou grinned. "I like the way you think. Let's go then. Glad I'm not the only one to acknowledge Hyou-chan's skill...who talked to you about him, if you don't mind my asking?" Clearly he wasn't the only one hold the blond's skills in high regard. He led the silverrette to some safety gear. He put on the padded helm to that cushioned side blows to an extent, and also some gloves with braces. So their punches wouldn't hit as hard, but still hard enough to hurt. There was a ref. there that told both of them that he held the right to stop them at any time. Which Kyou already knew and agreed to. So far, he hadn't needed to be stopped. Or vice versa. Someone always yielded before needing to be stopped. And not too soon either. He had to respect someone who knew when to quit.
Entering into the ring, he waited for the ref to give the signal. He didn't know much about the guy...while he was typically fairly aggressive, he decided to play it safe and be a little defensive at first, try and get a little bit of a feel for how the hero student fights. The blazing red head knew how Hyou-chan fought already. Even if Hyousuke had improved greatly between when he witnessed the man fought and when they actually traded blows.
When the ref was satisfied that both parties were ready, he gave the signal to begin. Kyou stepped forward, clearly relaxed, but kept a level gaze on his opponent, and awaited for the guy's first move...

As Keni followed the red haired stranger he'd find himself answering a question issued from the boy scarlet. "Oh, I was told about Hyousuke from a fellow UA student." answered Keni as he unintentionally found himself suddenly running a hand over his shoulder, as he traced the scar left by his fight with Jun. The first and only battle wound Keni had ever gotten from an opponent and yet he was quite fond of it. "A real bada$$ that blonde sparky pyro." uttered Keni as he found himself a bit lost in the memory of his fight with Jun, for that fight meant a lot to the young airbender. Shaking his head Keni pulled himself back to reality just as he and Kyou had made it to their destination. Following the red head's lead Keni started gearing up and as he did he found himself constantly peering over at Kyou as the excitement of fighting him was starting build with in the 1-B student.
Entering the ring Keni took to the opposite side of Kyou so that the two were staring at each other as a ref made his way over to them. Upon the ref signaling for the fight to begin, the young airbender exhaled as he took to battle stance that required him to be on the balls of his feet. Seeing as this hand to hand fight was to be had without any quirks. The young airbender made sure to use to position himself in a stance he'd learned way back when before attending UA. This particular stance granted him balance but also allotted him the maneuverability and speed he'd normally use his quirk for. With the fight only just starting Keni watched as Kyou began to approach him and followed suite. Making sure to keep pace as he had no idea how this guy fought. And seeing aside from his fight with Miski the young airbender hadn't fought without his bo staff in quite some time. But due to his training with Byakuya and the few new techniques he had learned in the process he needed now more than ever to get back into the groove of pure hand to hand battles.
The second Kyou got in kicking range Keni launched into a three kick combo. Lifting his right foot with quick speed Keni launched a kick to Kyou's side rib, then to the side of his face in one fluid motion before then going for a high spin jump kick aimed at the other side of Kyou's head.

A blond sparky pyro? That Jun Tomoshibi kid from the Sports Festival? Well, that put a new spin on things. The kid's quirk was strong, but they never really saw his close range game. If he was too well rounded, he'd be trouble. But enough of that. The blazing red head focused on the silverette. The second he got into kicking range, the UA student unleashed two kicks to his left side, one aimed at the ribs, and a second at his head. Kyou's reflexes were fast, and easily blocked both of them. Then he ducked down to avoid the third, sweeping a left hook at just the right time to stumble the other guy when he landed. With his right hand, he grabbed the boy's shirt when he stepped forward, and headbutted him. Kyou's safety gear helped cushion some of the impact, but not a whole lot given that he was strong.
Then he aimed a gut punch before backing off if he was allowed to. The follow up was more a test to see how well or fast the future hero can recover. Testing Keni's skills to see how big of a threat he'd be in the future, and perhaps finding out his motivations to see if he'd eventually end up on Kyou's hit list. So far, he seemed like a battle freak. Which on its own wasn't a bad thing...but it was if it was entirely self-serving. Kyou was partially like that as well...but he also had another goal to work towards.

Upon landing after displaying his opening gambit. Keni found himself taking hits from the scarlet's fiery comeback. Staggering back from Kyou's headbutt, the young pro hero in training noticed that his opponent was still coming in on the offensive. Knowing he needed to answer back the scarlet's advances Keni realized that he needed to somehow reset the momentum of the battle. So remembering how Hise cushioned his kick and launched with an automatic counter in their fight sparked an idea for the UA student. Quickly planting his right foot back Keni then placed his left hand in the way of his gut, thus catching Kyou's punch to his midsection. The instant he had Kyou's hand in his own the air user quickly pulled the scarlet boy towards him making sure to utilize the boy's forward momentum against him. As Kyou came forward Keni swung a right elbow to the side of the boy's face. Following that and with Kyou's hand still in his. The Jackson legacy then went into a no handed cartwheel to his left. Using the momentum of his flip as well as the sideways motion Kyou was going into from the elbow to flip the red haired boy on the ground. Causing Kyou to land on his side just seconds before Keni landed back on his feet. With his opponent now on the floor Keni instinctually went into to a series of backflips as to put some distance between him and his opponent.
I gotta be careful with this guy, he's clearly his far move advance in hand to hand combat than I had imagined. He's quick on his attacks much more so than Hise, though Hise by far has the raw power. Still he moves pretty fast, seemingly he's as quick on his to react. Which could spell out trouble for me no doubt about it. Hise's level of hand to hand with my base level of speed and maneuverability, and on top of that between us both I think he's stronger. So I'm going to need to recall everything from my fight with Hise while at the same time making sure to be on my guard more so than normal. I can do this, dodging is my speciality. I need to move like the wind more so now than ever. I'd have the advantage on speed if I could use my quirk but without it it seems that we're equally match. You can do this Keni, just stay alert. thought the first year.
With the fight now about to reset and Keni having learned a bit about his opponent due to their first round of attacks. Keni made sure to keep a closer eye on Kyou, as he knew he had yet to see what competition could really do.

He got him! But the boy reacted swiftly, putting down his dominant foot, and stabilized himself. Keni caught Kyou's punch and pulled him forward, catching him off a little off guard, and getting an elbow to the face. Then he was flipped. The red head rolled away and even did a small jump twist back up and ready. But Keni didn't press. And instead backed off with backflips. Seemed Kyou put him on guard real quick. Still, the UA student reset the momentum of the fight quickly...so he did have some skill. Hyousuke had a tendency to power through no matter the cost, and didn't even try to grapple and flip him or anything. Keni was more methodical and thought a lot quicker. Grinning wolfishly, Kyou hoped this was another to keep him sharp and use up pent up energy.
He started to stalk slowly forward and circle the first year. Keni wasn't all the way to the ropes, but still only about five feet way from them. The ring was slightly bigger than normal, being twenty-five feet by twenty-five feet. Kyou paced the other way, trying to see if there was anything he could do to throw him off. Keni's form was good, and he was playing cautiously. He settled for a skirmish...a test.
Getting within reach he did a light jab with his left fist and did a quick twist with his hips, sending a foot to kick the back of the calf.
If he missed, he'd simply take a step back, ready to deal with whatever Keni threw at him. If he hit, and stumbled the guy, Kyou would follow it up with a punch to the chest, but leave it at that. And if he hit, but Keni recovered too quickly and countered with a punch, then Kyou would flip him.

As Keni kept his guard up and kept his gaze solely focus on his opponent. He'd notice the wolfish grin that made its way across Kyou's face. That can't be anything good. This is our first fight and I'm clearly outmatched skill wise, so I'm going to have to rely on evading, and immediate counter strikes. Just remember your fights, the one with wise showed me how to use an opponent's own attack against them. The fight with Jun was about trickery being used to create openings. While the fight with Misaki granted me some new hand to hand combat tricks. So I'll just utilize everything I've learned from my fights with them and add them to everything I already know and what I'm learning from Byakuya Sensai. I can do this.
Being pulled out of his train of thought by the circling movements of his opponent. Keni began to feel a bit like stalked prey, however his eyes never diverted from Kyou. The younger bender watched the crimson haired boy's movements with great intensity and laser focus. Taking in every inch of movement as he looked for some slight warning that an attack was imminent. Seeing the jab Keni simply pushed it away with his right hand, on to spot Kyou's kick and so in response Keni quickly lifted the targeted leg in to a bend position while shifting it outwards thus blocking the kick by cutting it off at the knee.
After putting a stop Kyou's attack the scarlet boy took a step back but not missing a beat Keni matched his step backwards with a step forwards thus keeping to the in perfect striking range. The distance between them closed again, Keni made sure to keep his fists in front of him. With his body shifting swiftly in some distraction punches before finally going into a high roundhouse kick sweeping from the left hand side.

His jab was pushed away, and the counter to his kick was well timed, forcing it back down, but in a solid foothold. The silver haired student stepped forward, staying within range, then stepped again to close it a little bit more. Kyou redirected the punches away from him expertly, and when the roundhouse kick came, he ducked down. And caught it and pushed up, forcing Keni into a backflip, making sure to position himself in a way that he wouldn't get kicked. And aimed a left knee to the face.
Then depending on position and what Keni did, he'd either elbow the boy in the back of the head or do a side hit meant to stun Keni. Alternatively, if he avoided it, Keni would have to move fast to avoid a punch if he stuck too close as Kyou did a short hop turn.
In the end, he would still back off afterwards, but only a couple of feet. If Keni maintained an aggressive stance and come after him, that would be in Kyou's best interest. The red head knew exactly what he was going to do if that happened. But things down always go as predicted. Especially when people were involved, and were smart. Keni was no dolt, and had a good eye...but it also seemed he knew he was outmatched, and was trying to find a way to turn the tables. They were gaining a bit of an audience...but that normally happened with him and Hyousuke anyways.

Upon going for his round house kick the young airbend suddenly found himself being unexpectedly flipped backwards. With no other choice the 1B student quickly adjusted his movements as to flow into the backflip. Landing in with a bent knee positioned Keni found himself taking on the defensive as a knee came barreling towards his face. Keni couldn't think of anyway to get out of this mess but luckily for him pure instinct took over and the white haired boy's arms immediately shot up in front of his face forming an X shape. Though the impact of Kyou's attack was slightly cushioned it did nothing however to the force it exuded. Now though Keni had no idea what to do about that last attack he did however found a use for the force it released. As his body was being pushed back due to impact the clever UA student decided to use this as his a way to place some distance between him and his opponent as he was no at a disadvantage. Putting his weight into the backward motion that his body was already going into Keni was able to add more force to the motion.
Rolling backwards Keni positioned himself so that when he fully went into his backwards tuck and roll his hand would be positioned formly on the floor. To which he'd tuck one leg close to his midsection so that when he pushed up from off the floor he'd have the leg support so that in one fluid motion he'd be back up on his feet. Thus allowing Keni to avoid both an elbow and side hit, however the second Keni was back on his feet he'd notice Kyou coming in with a hop turn punch. Quickly raising the appropriate arm and bending it so that it was stationed at the side of his face Keni was able to block the incoming hook for Kyou. After blocking the scarlet's punch Keni watched as his opponent backed off.
At this point in time Keni wasn't sure what he should do against an opponent as fast and as experienced as Kyou was. This sort of combat wasn't Keni's strongest aspect especially without the use of his quirk, but it wasn't as though it was his worst. Still he was clearly outmatched and from what he could tell due to the few little rounds they went, going on the offensive seemed to cause him more trouble than it was worth against this guy. So if that was the case than Keni needed to not play offensive but instead defensive. Defend and Counter! thought the UA student as he began bouncing in place on the very tip top balls of his feet. "Come at me!"

Keni had the sense to go with the flow and landed in a crouch and attempted to block his knee. Instead, the silver haired student rolled back with the force. And got up quickly enough. The hero wannabe seemed to want to stay on the defensive. Even going so far as to try to taunt him. Chuckling almost maliciously, he put his hand on his hip, and the red head looked at Keni a bit cockily. "What? Not confident enough to go on the offensive? Defending and countering is good and all, but it can only get you so far with certain opponents...particularly those with fast reaction times..." And that was his greatest strength.
Leisurely making his way towards the silver haired, he watched as the guy bounced on the balls of his feet. He did a couple of quick jabs before stepping back, waiting for the counter. And when it came, he'd deflect it if it was a punch, and counter with a proper hook. But if it was a kick, he would block it, and use it to toss the kid.
Keni had seemed confident before. And while he still seemed somewhat confident, he seemed more hesitant to engage him head on. Which was in a way, good that he learn during the fight, and try to apply it, being more hesitant was a bit of a let down. Perhaps the guy was more confident when using his quirk. But that was the norm for most heroes, students and pros. And the same with any villain as well. Still, Kyou pressed on with light jabs, just trying to goad the guy to try to counter him, only to counter Keni's counter...

"What? Not confident enough to go on the offensive? Defending and countering is good and all, but it can only get you so far with certain opponents...particularly those with fast reaction times..."
Kyou's words echoed through Keni's mind, as this was the first time in his life he'd ever been solely focused on playing the defensive. Which honestly was a shot to his pride, however Keni understood that sometimes in order to snag victory you have to be patient. Plus if if his fight with Jun taught him anything it was that he also needed to remember that there is a time and a place for a one to allow themselves to become fully enthralled in their fight. And it surely wasn't now, where he was clearly at a disadvantage experience wise. "You're one to talk, so far all your actual hits have been nothing but counters and or openings in response to my offensive advances. So save me the failed taunting and just show me what you got. Because I highly respect Jun and he told me Hyousuke was someone worth fighting. However if this right here is all you got, and that was enough for Hyousuke to never best you. Let's just same I might have to reconsider seeking him out. Now how about you show me what your experience can really do? You want to seem me gave my all, then actually challenge me." smirked the younger airbender as he watched his opponent slowly begin to close the gap between them. Keni was no stranger to taunts, but when it came to it he could rumble with the best of them. Especially when it's to ensue a wanted outcome. Come one, push me. thought Keni as his eyes remained laser focused on Kyou.
As Kyou fired off few quick jabs, Keni would cunningly block the attacks by swatting them away with his open palms while simultaneously preparing to make his move. For during his swatting the nimble 1B student quickly pivoted himself to Kyou's right and just before the scarlet haired boy's jab could retract Keni would grab the boy's hand wrist with his right hand an attempt to pull him forward as to throw him off balance while also throwing his left elbow back in hopes of catching the the red head with an elbow to the face.
Keni might not have been as vocal as he was with Jun, but that didn't mean he didn't have a lot of fight in him. And if Kyou couldn't see that then he was blind. For Keni still had fire in his eyes, it's just that if he was going to stand a chance at possibly winning he needed to remain focus and not allow himself to become distracted. Sure Kyou had a fast reaction time, which until now Keni had never gone up against. Normally in his fights he was always the faster one, but Keni's quick air like adaptability was one of the things that made him a good fighter. He is able to readjust to just about anything at the drop of a hat. Which added with his evasive skills was what was going to get him through this fight. That added with his laser focus made the air bender someone to not be underestimated.

Kyou chuckled a bit. "It is among the easiest ways to get a hit in...especially on try hards like yourself or stubbornly gritty offensive people like Hyou-chan..." Keni swatted his jabs away while Kyou was thinking on what the guy might do. Soon enough, the boy made a move. Smirking, Kyou easily kept himself from being manipulated simply by planting a solid left foot down and turning to face the silverette. He also ducked and used the elbow of his caught arm to block the elbow. "That's your choice. But the best way to tell if someone is worth your time is still the tried and true challenging them yourself...after all, the guy did made it to the tournament. That's no small feat! But sure, continue to underestimate your opponents!" With his arm locked in Keni's grip, he shoved forward, attempting to slam his forearm into the guy's throat and pin him all the way to the ropes. "I'm just here for a moderate challenge to blow off some steam. How much effort you put into it is up to you..."
If successful, he would then grab the boy's shirt and lean back into a fall, placing a foot at the guy's stomach, and flinging him behind the red head. Kyou went into a backwards roll and stood up in a smooth motion after the toss. He expected the guy to catch himself and smoothly get up. There was no doubt in his mind that if Keni and Hyousuke fought, with or without quirks, that Keni would be the victor. He actually thought through his moves, and planned, plus used grapples. Most Hyousuke did was think about where to aim his punches.
