FC NAME (SERIES): | ak-12 (girls’ frontline) |
Avreya stands five feet, eleven inches tall; much taller than the average japanese woman. Her expression is almost always calming with a subtle smile. Her hair is exceptionally long; something she decided to keep after she awoke from her coma. Parts of her hair is often braided to help keep it out of her face, but the rest flows down her back untamed. The parts of her hair that she keeps tied up are always held by a black bow. Her eyes are the strangest part about her however, as they normally stand a dull, dark violet color but have a strange pattern in them, resembling fantasy-mechanical eyes. Over the pupil, stretching across the iris is a horizontal bar that is outlined in a darker tone of purple. When her quirk is active, these eyes glow vivid and bright, appearing closer to pink than purple. During these times, the patterns in her eyes are much easier to notice.
When it comes to clothing, she still has access to her hero suit but prefers to leave it at home. Knowing herself however, she still carries her enough to disguise herself just in case conflict does arise; this is simply her halfmask that she carries in her handbag. The rest of the time she dresses like a normal civilian. When dressing like a civilian she always has a very distinct fashion sense; comfort. The outfits she wears are often times something you would see from the younger generation; beaniest, jackets, loose shirts... you name it. Often times these can be seen as hyper-casual. When she absolutely needs to be presentable however, she wears a suit top with slacks. Due to the nature of these clothes however, she often leaves her midriff exposed to help dissipate heat from her quirk. No matter what she wears, she always wears the same shades of colors. White, to black, with shades of purple and other light colors that complement the appearance. She even has a russian military outfit, courtesy of her parents, that she might wear if she indeed needs to appear intimidating.

RUMOR/SECRET: | Rumor says that she died 4 years ago, and this Empulse is just a fraud. |
Avreya used to be an energetic and happy individual, but ever since the incident she has appeared more solemn at times. Periodically, her energetic happy side does reveal itself, but this is exceptionally rare and often only behind the scenes. The rest of the time she tends to keep a smile on her face, and looks as peaceful as possible as she knows that she must put on a smile for those around her despite hurting from losing her friends. Deep down, she’s a realist and feels that heroism is a waste of time but understands that there would be no point in actively trying to end it. To her, criminality will happen no matter what happens so why should she seek to stop it? Even with these thoughts, she is still one of the first to jump to action when actively witnessing a crime.
Others often attribute most of the seven virtues to her based on her outward appearance, but only a few ever really apply. She is exceptionally temperate, choosing to eat in smaller amounts and to seek fewer amenities in life than most and she shows great amounts of patience for those around her. While those who are impatient might flip tables in rage at someone who wastes their time, Avreya actively welcomes it, seeing it as a way to avoid more indulgences in life.

Avreya Viktorovna Korzhakov was born in Kyzyl, Russia to a Viktor and Marilena Korzhakov. She was raised mostly by what appeared to be a single father as Marilena was constantly away from home; a near reverse for the family relationships in the region. In reality, this was due to her mother’s work as an undercover agent. She never explained who she worked for, or rather, Avreya never got the chance to find out. The young Avreya was always exceptional at school, at least until her brother was born. With the extra help around the house from Avreya, Viktor was able to easily handle both kids while Marilena was ‘missing’ due to her work, but this caused her grades to plummet in middle school. Luckily for her however, Avreya was blessed with a very, very strong quirk being immune to almost all forms of electricity. Knowing that once her brother was old enough, she could leave the country and train at one of the well known hero schools; such a prospect was her dream after all.
All of her training certainly paid off as when she turned 15 she was accepted into UA High. It was here that she realized how different life was outside of Russia, and how difficult it was to communicate in a foreign language. Luckily for her, she was able to quickly pick up on the local dialect and any missing bits of language she needed thanks to her teachers at UA, and her new found friends and classmates. Her first year was possibly the hardest for her to complete; despite her quirk being really strong, she lacked both the culture and language to successfully ace everything, but by her second year at UA she was finally able to blossom. Immediately rising through the ranks, she focused on perfecting her body instead of her quirk, and this paid off greatly. Now with an impressive quirk that amplified her reflexes, and a physically strong body Avreya was one of, if not the strongest student of her class. Her third year was possibly the strangest of her years.
An invitation to Squad DEFY was given to Avreya. Their previous member, Empath, had perished in the line of duty and they needed a replacement member; she was who they chose. Knowing that this was her best shot at being a true and proper hero like the comics she read, and the television she watched when she was younger, Avreya eagerly accepted, setting her future hero name to ‘Empulse.’ Furthering her training, most of her efforts were moved away from UA and instead the other squad members repeatedly visited to make sure she was at the peak of her strength. Just before graduation, she was finally contacted by her mother; Marilena. It wasn’t by phone, or text, or email, but by a physical package. Inside the package was a uniform, military in nature and sized perfectly for Avreya with several pictures along with it. Each one was of her mother in the same uniform, followed by more pictures; this time each one had what appeared to be the logo of a snake in the corner of each one. The woman was in disguise in each of the pictures, begging the question why they were sent to her in the first place. She wouldn’t find out for a few more years to come.
By the end of that year her training was complete, she passed her test and joined the heroes out in the field. DEFY began its operations once more now that they were complete, and that would be that for the story if not for an organization that started to rise in central Russia. Only a year into her career would the team have to get her situated before being sent on a major mission; and it was then that she realized what the symbol meant. Viper, the name of the crime ring that was taking over the Moscow region. It had been far too long from the Russia, and now she had returned home. This group known as Viper proved themselves to be quite sophisticated as each time DEFY and Viper came to blows one of their own members would become injured; the papers never mentioned the injuries, just the successes. Over time these setbacks caught up with the group, slowing down progress extensively until one of Viper’s own finally sold them out. A whole year had passed since they started, and finally they had a major lead; the central base of Viper.
It was a dangerous job, and each of them had to be in peak condition before they attempted the assault. New, fancier hero gear was brought over from all of DEFY’s contacts; stronger knives, better combat vests, you name it they had it. Then the assault began. In the heart of Moscow gunshots could be heard, explosions, the sounds that only extensive quirk combat could create were all audible from there area. By the end of the day, nearly thirty or forty villains laid dead around the complex, but there were even more wounded. The head crime boss of Viper had been captured, as well as all of his cronies that came to help but in the end it was over, DEFY won. Such a victory was not easily earned, while DEFY was successful the team was crippled. Each member was on the verge of death, Avreya included. The group was rushed to a hospital away from the prying eyes of the media, and the entire incident was suppressed heavily.
No more news of the group came out into the public eye, not even by mention at a glance. Their families had been informed that their respective hero had gone missing in action and presumed dead, and given an explanation as to why this knowledge must be kept secret. Little did those families know that their heroes were still alive, but not for long. The damage to the group was so great that one died the day they were admitted, and two more perished by the end of the week from complications. The only member of DEFY that was left was Avreya, and even she was left comatose.
Four years later, team DEFY had been nearly forgotten, with those who remember their existence remembered the time they were active, but just that it ended; that the entire group just vanished and stopped being heroes. Nobody knew most of them were dead, and then Avreya woke from her coma. It took a few weeks for the hospital to bring her up to speed in the modern age, and a few months to bring her back to a healthy looking shape instead of the emaciated skeleton that the coma had left her. After these events, Avreya had changed from her energetic and cheery self, to cold and calculating but oddly peaceful. Even the nurses and doctors couldn’t figure out why she was so calm all the time, not even Avreya understood but she felt at peace knowing that her best friends were in a better place.
Now, Avreya is back in Japan. Her hero license is still valid; while she was presumed dead a few inside the society kept her hero name from being fully dismantled on the legal side of things. The society moved her into a tiny studio apartment in Tokyo and set her up with a simple part-time job; a clerk at a gas station. While the hero society still had her employed as a hero, she aimed more on her side job than being a hero; after all, there was no point in being a hero for her anymore.

THE ARMORY
Backup Battery - A small battery with a port that allows it to charge other devices. Avreya can charge herself with this device, but when doing so it only grants her 1/8th of usage. Usable once per thread.
Combat Knife - A broad bladed combat knife. It’s easily portable, quick to unsheath and to swing. It is exceptionally durable, allowing it to withstand bullets but lacks a proper cutting edge because of it’s normal use. It can cut, but must be used more like a machete to succeed. The blade is 7.5” in length totaling the entire knife to 11”. It is exceptionally wide however, totalling 2” inches in width.
Jumper Cables - A pair of jumper cables that allows her to connect herself to a power source, allowing her to recharge at rapid rates. When in use, recharges 2 uses of her quirk every post if connected to a strong power source, or 1 use of her quirk every post if connected to anything less.
Half-Mask Respirator - A mask that covers Avreya’s lower face. It fits two small filters on either side of her face. When needed, she can engage these filters. These protect her from airborne chemicals for up to 5 posts before they start to seep through the filter. The mask itself protects from airborne dust particles even if the attached filters are compromised.
Conducting Gloves - These are a pair of mono-black gloves that cover the index and middle finger. The gloves themselves act like conductors, allowing her to create a flow of current through her body allowing easy recharging. These also give her some control of where the electricity exits her body from if overcharging, forcing the discharge to leave her finger tips. No matter what she touches to recharge with the gloves, she will only ever get 1 use of her quirk for every 2 posts she is in contact with an electrical current. (1/2 per post)
Combat Harness - A major part of her hero outfit, this is a military-styled harness that is designed to carry multiple pouches. These pouches used to contain ammo when worn, but since her loss of firearms she has replaced them with flat bulletproof plates for protection. These plates can completely prevent small arms fire from a long distance, and reduce the damage received from up close and can even block most slashes with a knife. These only protect her lower abdomen below her chest. It also carries her short armored cloak, reducing the encumbrancing effect it has on her when worn.
Armored Cloak - A major part of her hero outfit. This cloak starts from her shoulders, and drops down to her hips. It is wide open in the central point and mostly conceals her arms as if it were shirtless sleeves. It offers protection against the elements like bursts of fire, or blasts of sand but offers little to no protection from bullets, that’s what her harness plates are form. When wearing this without her combat harness it severely hinders her ability to move her limbs. If worn with the Combat Harness, it only slightly hinders her ability to move.
Smart Devices - A smart phone and a smart watch. Both are a bit old now but far from obsolete.
QUIRK & SKILLS
Electrical Overdrive
TYPE:Mutation
RANK/LEVEL: A
SUMMARY:
Electrical Overdrive is a two part quirk that functions based on electricity absorbed through the skin and stored in a pair of battery-like organs located in their hips. Avreya can drain electricity from any object so long as she has a way to complete the circuit, like touching two ends of a battery or being electrocuted from afar; both of these scenarios end with the electrical object being drained dry, and Avreya feeling invigorated. Originally, Avreya couldn't use the overdrive portion of her quirk as she stored barely any electricity and simply functioned on the biofuel generator that is her stomach; this internal biofuel generator of hers is only enough to slow down the natural degradation of her stored energy as her body itself is extremely demanding for electricity. At this time she has trained her storage capacity to the point of not needing to refuel herself for a full three days; this means she can go without food for 72 hours before her body starts to crave electricity; water is a different story as she still needs it as normal. With normal food intake, she can go for 168 hours, or a full week, before she needs to recharge. Currently, she can store the equivalent of 5 car batteries; this equates to about 45 amp-hours or 45,000mAh per battery, totaling at 225 Ah or 225,000 mAh.
Now comes the second part of the quirk, the 'toggleable' portion. Avreya has the ability to rapidly increase how much electricity her body uses up to an impressive degree which is called Overdriving. When in her overdrive state, her eyes begin to glow brightly, emanating a purple light as her reflexes and awareness become superhuman. This state drains an extensive amount of power from her batteries, limiting her ability to stay in the form itself but her reaction speeds become near instantaneous to all forms of stimuli; being touch, vision, hearing all the way to smell. While the reflex part is the easiest to notice, the superhuman awareness is less so, allowing her to track up to a hundred separate objects all rapidly moving in different directions without losing track of them. This is mostly helpful in a fight as she is able to react and follow each and every move an opponent makes with each individual limb, granting what seems to be a bit of foresight during each attack making it exceptionally difficult to use trickery without some form of outside assistance. Against multiple opponents this can be difficult even for Avreya however, as she is still limited in her own body’s speed to defend against multiple attacks. To put this in layman's terms, if she has line of sight to your attack, or if it has any amount of audible sound to it while she is in overdrive, then her ability to avoid the strike is dramatically enhanced as her normal reaction is avoiding the strike, and she is already on the way to avoiding it almost as soon as the attack is started.
The third portion is something that Avreya came to learn. It is much more like a 'Super Move' than anything else, but the general application of the ability lends it more to the quirk itself. This is called a 'Burst of Speed' and it allows her to pull even more power from herself to achieve excessive amounts of super speed for mere seconds. Using this ability is excessively dangerous to her however, as excessive battery drainage can leave her drained dry and if her body itself came into contact with sufficient force there would be nothing to stop self damage. As such, this ability is mostly used for defense as it's offense is far too risky. This ability allows her to dash up to 3 meters in a millisecond of time, or to dodge a few bullets without moving. To the naked eye she both appears to have moved, and to have not moved as it is quick enough to create after-images but if one has a vision enhancement quirk then they might be able to track her individual movements.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
While her quirk is excessively powerful with its ability to absorb all electricity inflicted on her and to use that electricity to empower herself, she does not gain any boost to her strength or durability, it is only speed, and that is only during a Burst of Speed. In her normal overdrive form, she might seem faster than before but that is only due to the lack of delay in her actions. While the burst of speed allows her to theoretically dodge bullets, she can only access this part of her quirk during her overdrive form. Essentially, whenever she is not Overdriving, then her body behaves quite close to a normal human with the exception of electrical absorption.
Being able to absorb electricity is a double-edged sword. She has no way of removing excess electricity except from overdriving, which expends excessive amounts of energy from her body to power her body itself. This means that if she is struck by enough electricity then her organs may end up swelling as they overcharge, causing extensive pain as they press against her body from the inside. Such pain can leave easily knock her unconscious, but the worst part is that even after they have been overcharged, it takes several posts for the swelling to go down, slowing Avreya down drastically or else the pain would begin again.
Currently, Avreya is able to remain in overdrive for 14 posts before her electricity has been completely drained. During her overdrive state, she can expend 3 posts worth of time to activate a Burst of Speed which must start, and end, in the same post. It takes Avreya a full post to enter her overdrive state, meaning she will never earn the benefits of her quirk until at most the second post of combat, unless she initiates it with her quirk. This means that Avreya will never have access to her burst of speed until the second post where the quirk is active. An example of this would be a simple few rounds of combat. Combat starts, Round 1 Avreya activates quirk. Round 2 Avreya is now able to activate a burst of speed. By round 3, Avreya would have consumed 4 uses of her quirk, leaving her at 10 posts left in total. After a burst of speed Avreya must wait a full post before activating another; this means if she activates a Burst of Speed on her second post, she will have access to a burst of speed once more on her fourth post.
When it comes to limitations on her electricity absorption, it can be sorted into a series of levels. A light shock, like static electricity or something that just causes brief pain is worth 1/8th of a single round of overdrive. A shocking effect that can cause crippling pain or muscle spasms is worth 1/4th of a single round of overdrive. Shocks that would normally knock out an opponent, instead give her a full round of overdrive. Now, if the electrical charge is a lethal amount, then she regains 2 full rounds of overdrive. Any more voltage past that point, and her batteries are unable to store the electricity, causing the spillover to arc from her fingertips into the world around her as it follows the path of least resistance. This means that even if she gets electrocuted by a huge bolt of lightning then she would be unable to redirect the excessive electricity, instead it would rapidly shoot through her body, and into the ground or anything she was holding or wearing.
If Avreya’s body ever runs out of electricity, then she enters a state known to her as ‘Electro Zombie.’ Her ability to think about her own behavior is gone. Much like a vampire deprived of blood, or a zombie craving brains, her entire body goes on autopilot as she loses all cognitive function except for those in regards to ‘finding electricity.’ Over-all, she becomes a sluggish rabid animal until she receives some form of electricity.

OUTSLUG
RANK/LEVEL: B
SUMMARY:
Avreya’s style of combat is designed around staying just outside of an opponents range, rushing in with quick jabs only to rapidly retreat to safety. This combat style comes with many benefits, and many downsides. The benefits are that when using this style it severely limits an opponents ability to strike at Avreya just by sitting outside of their own attack range. Because of this, it is known as a purely defensive style designed around tricking an opponent into fatiguing themselves. The downsides are that if the opponent does not pursue, then the tables are turned and she must now pursue them, dashing in with a single quick strike before retreating. These attacks are often very easy to see coming due to the distance between Avreya and her opponent. Currently, as of this rank, she is nearing mastery of her combat style, improving her ability to 'backpedal' away from an opponent, while also improving her ability to rush forward. Her punches at this rank can cause severe blunt trauma, but even a direct hit from a punch won't break bone.
ATHLETE
RANK/LEVEL: C
SUMMARY:
Avreya used to be excessively quick on her feet, but due to her 4 year coma her ability to run and lift heavy objects quickly have diminished down to the rate of an amateur. She has already regained some of her abilities through a few months of muscle training before she was released to the public. Currently, this ability allows her to run faster than normal for an extended period of time while also being able to lift heavier objects; nothing supernatural though. It does require constant work to keep the physique up however.
BLADED WEAPONRY
RANK/LEVEL: B
SUMMARY:
She knows more than just which end is the pointy end of a blade. Many consider her a wizard with a knife, being able to make clean swipes that strike just with the end of the blade, making it harder for opponents to gauge the distance between them. Blades also feel like an extension of her body in comparison to other weaponry, allowing her superb hand-eye coordination when using them.
ACROBAT
RANK/LEVEL: C
SUMMARY:
Akin to her athletic ability which focuses more on her ability to run fast, jump higher, and lift weights, Avreya is also an accomplished acrobat. Just as her athletic ability had perished from the coma, her acrobatic abilities have done so as well but most was regained when her upper and lower body strength came back. This ability allows her to flip, roll, and over-all do the more fanciful maneuvers when falling or running to keep her forward facing motion without losing much speed. This also helps with her flexibility, allowing her to squeeze through tighter locations than one would expect; she still hasn’t been able to fit herself in a sock drawer though.
MARTIAL ARTS
RANK/LEVEL: C
SUMMARY:
Avreya’s mind is still sharp but her body was simply dulled. Her martial art is more generalist than most, but still focusing on subduing her opponent rather than outright murdering thing. It’s helpful in the line of duty but doesn’t do much against opponents that are more focused on quirk combat. She still has the mind if an A rank martial artist, but she hasn’t practiced in so long that her ability has reduced all the way down to a C rank; she can imagine her feats of skill in realistic ways but she is still relatively sluggish in execution.
