He didn't know what strings his mother's PR team had pulled for him to end up modelling a new line of skincare products for Dokumi Medicals, but Aki wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth -- even if he had spent the past half-an-hour adjusting a damp facemask that kept sliding its merry, slimy way down his face, as a band of photographers and assistants prodded him into different poses and artfully rumpled the sleeves of his jean jacket.
He wasn't alone in his predicament, at least. Across from him in the studio was Mikaku Dokumi, the young heir to Dokumi Medicals himself, in all his long-limbed glory. The pitch the advertising firm in charge of the project had written capitalised on the fame of U.A.'s rising star, or so he heard; Aki was the compatible tag-along: the young almost-heir to Freebird Universal, who conveniently happened to attend the same school; a big enough name to lend star power, but not enough to divert attention away from the main attraction.
Though, Mikaku was undeniably attractive. Even with a translucent sheet mask obscuring most his face. (Aki may have had done just the tiniest bit of surreptitious staring, in the rare moments when the photographers hadn't swarmed in front of him like a horde of locusts.)
Snagging two bottles of mineral water out of the box some unfortunate intern had lugged into the studio, Aki picked his way past the filming equipment to where Mikaku was. He tucked one bottle into the crook of his elbow; the other, he reached out towards Mikaku. "Mikaku-senpai," he greeted. "Are you thirsty?"

Another day, another shoot!
Today was sheet masks!
To be honest, Mikaku didn’t use these off the shelf ones often personally as he went to a beauty spa 2 times a week and he was told to use liquid to silicone rubber masks daily but he had to wonder, surely this was a bit too big for the intended audience as it was slightly too big for him, nevermind on young girls but...whatever, he supposed! It was just his job to look good (somehow) so uh...he would try his best.
He was co starring with Li Aki-kun from 1-H! He noticed the name straight away when he saw the shoot brief he had been sent by his manager, but he hadn’t had a chance to properly talk to his kouhai and he had only really exchanged a greeting when they started.
Thankfully, the mask-on-face part of the shoot ended pretty quickly and they were now between shoots, the third year support student being told to wait while they got their outfits ready for the next part of the shoot which was meant to be the two together. He absentmindedly patted the excess residue of the liquid onto his face as he sat in a chair, at least the mask smelled pretty good?
Vivid purple eyes looked up the moment he felt someone approach, his resting face switching to a friendly smile at the younger male.
“Heyyyy Akkun~”
He said cheerfully, hand leaving his face to lift in greeting.
“How’s things going over there~? You were lookin’ good~ And well, some would say I’m always thirsty...hahaha~”
Mikaku replied as he took the bottle held out to him.
“Sankyu~s! Just a bit more, the PR poster right~? We got this!”

Akkun? That was a new one. The nickname of choice his mother's relatives typically fell back on was the diminutive Xiao Bin, that he had had enough of by the time he was twelve. Akkun didn't sound as condescending, but Aki wasn't yet sure if he was comfortable with Mikaku's spontaneous choice of nickname. Still, Mikaku was technically his senpai -- both professionally and academically. He could call Aki whatever he liked. That, and Aki wasn't a stranger to affected over-familiarity, nicknames or no.
"Always thirsty? That's sounds like a medical issue. You should get it checked out." Aki settled down in the chair beside Mikaku's, placing the bottle on the floor by his feet. Resting his elbows on his knees. he leaned forward to sit the point of his chin in his hands. The fabric of his gloves was smooth against his skin as he peered up at Mikaku. "And, that's high praise coming from you, Mikaku-senpai. You looked good even with the mask on. Most people just look like sad, wrinkly clowns." His mouth twisted, wry. "They had to trim the edges off mine so it would fit."
Around them, the assistants and photographers bustled about, setting up props and lighting for the next part of their shoot, their distant, muffled chatter like white noise. "What are we doing for the next part of the shoot, by the way?" Aki tipped his head, looking slightly apologetic. "I usually only model clothes. I'm a little out of my depth."

It was...a thing Mikaku did, almost without realising these days. Nicknames, it made people feel like they were closer than they really were, and also how one reacted to it usually told him multitudes about that person without even asking.
“Ahahaha...maybe, I do have a problem~”
He sighed dramatically, leaning back a little in his chair and his hand twitched a little, resisting the urge to run his hand through his hair as it was no doubt set to a certain shape that would get ruined, even if it was sort of falling in his face in an annoying manner.
“Could you ease my suffering a little?”
He asked, his tone rather soft and sensual and a faint ghost of a smile gracing his lips before his expression broke, starting to chuckle. “Haha sorry, sorry, I better stop that I’ll get told I’m preying on first years again~”
If Kazume heard this he would probably give some sarcastic comment about it, Mikaku knew this for sure. The guy always teased him about how he was hitting on the first years but HOW COULD HE NOT? They were all so cute! And no harm done right, it was just for fun!
“You think so? Aha thanks~♡”
Mikaku winked before make up artists approached them to start their make up for the shoot.
“Oh, well, it’s kinna the same really? We probably just have to pose together with the boxes or something, that’s how it usually goes!”
He replied as a person came with their outfit to wear for the shoot also, starting to discuss between them and the director which was best.
“Hey, hey, what are you doing after this by the way? Are you free?”

Aki wasn't new to being flirted at. It tended to be jokingly, by women two times his age, tittering at him as he hovered by his father's elbow during red carpet events; or by their daughters, young ingenues-in-training sharpening their claws on his vest. That said, he was still a fifteen year-old boy, wading waist-deep into puberty; Mikaku's sultry tone had heat rising in his cheeks. A childhood's worth of practice dispelling any and all physical manifestations of rogue embarrassment had him quashing the embers mercilessly beneath his heel. His blush didn't show, but it was a near thing.
"Mm," Aki paused for a moment, tapping the tip of his index finger against his lower lip, gathering his composure about him like an iron wall. He kept his tone playful when he continued: "I could get you a bucket of tap water. And a straw. Would that help?"
As if they had heard Mikaku's response to his query, the staff returned, a stormcloud of brushes and clothes hangers and sheafs of loose paper. Aki held himself still as the makeup artists smeared something maroon and rose-scented over his lips, and jabbed concealer-tipped brushes under his eyes.
"Just that? That's a relief; I was afraid they'd try to get us to wear the boxes, or something." Aki said, when the hands finally withdrew from his face, blinking as a dust cloud of finishing powder wafted by his eyes. His statement was half in jest; he had had some intrepid directors attempt some avant-garde photoshoots before -- there was a picture of him with a crown of colour pencils fastened into his hair wafting somewhere on the internet -- but a face mask commercial didn't seem like a place for that sort of creative expression. He hoped. Aki tipped his head back as one of the costumers fastened something around his neck -- a black choker, secured into place by a wine-red ribbon. The pile of clothes bundled in the costumer's arms followed the same colour scheme, all darks and deep-reds, taking full advantage of the contrasts between his and Mikaku's colouring; Mikaku's iridescent silver hair to his black, Mikaku's lavender eyes to his red.
"Free? Oh no, I'm very expensive," he answered, light and lilting, before smiling. "I cleared my schedule out for today's shoot. Would you like to go out for a meal together, senpai?"

Mikaku may not look it, but he was an expert in reading people. To most, he looked like a regular self absorbed narcissist, loving the sound of his own voice way too much but actually as the heir to such a large corporation it was important to be able to pay attention to every little shift in mood, small change in the air around himself and someone he was talking to so he had more than enough training and practise at it. It seemed his words had at least a little impact on the other- it made him feel a little happy, and also made the younger male seem even more adorable.
“Ahahaha~ Akkun is so caring, I suppose I’ll accept those feelings gratefully though I at least would like to be fed mineral water…”
Mikaku was more than used to being poked and prodded about by various things, he had quite a lot of medical tests done on him due to his quirk since he was young so there was that, then once he started modelling there was prodding of a different kind, so he was more than used to just staying still for long periods of time but it was always fun to have shoots with another model as there was someone to talk to.
“Wear the-… haha that sounds like a possibility but thankfully, not this time.”
He chuckled as he had clothing tugged onto him and he somewhat helped by moving his limbs, he was dressed in all white with lavender accents, it seemed. Looking at what Aki was being dressed in, he sort of got it. Oh, he could see what they did there. It was kinna cool and took advantage of both of their appearances well, he supposed.
Mikaku laughed at his junior’s joke before he nodded as the staff told him he could stand up now and go towards the shooting screens.
“Yeah, I was gonna suggest that, if you feel up for it, that would be fun~”
It was always good to get to know people, both socially and for networking purposes and as he was his kouhai too, why not?

"Absolutely," Aki said, as the staff corralled him and Mikaku over to the screens.
He didn't get to say much beyond that, tilting his head obligingly towards the camera as the shoot resumed in earnest. He could talk while they shot, he supposed, but he had learnt that it was always beneficial to stay in the photographers' good books. That, and he wanted to watch Mikaku; he snuck glances at Mikaku throughout the shoot, studying the way he moved, the way he carried himself. His senior had been in the trade longer than he had been -- there was some things Aki could stand to learn from him. It helped, too, that Mikaku wasn't hard on the eyes.
In an another half-hour, the publicity shoot wound down to a close. The photographers switched off the overhead lighting rigs, and the metal-on-metal clanking of them dissembling and packing their equipment echoed through the room. Aki squinted, rubbing the inner corner of his eye with his ring finger as he readjusted to the suddenly dim fluorescent lighting.
He turned to Mikaku, and picked up where their conversation left off. "How do you feel about something sweet? There's a pie place not far from here. I've heard their lemon meringue is to die for."
He had heard about it from a chatty costume designer for a magazine shoot for a few months back -- the to die for was a word-for-word quotation. It was a French-Japanese fusion bakery specialising in cakes and pies, advertised solely through word-of-mouth. Aki had always had a fondness for cosy, hole-in-the-wall places out of the public eye, and had bookmarked it in his head a place to try out. A dessert outing with a senior seemed as good of a time as any.
"That said, if you have anywhere else in mind, I'd love to try it. Maybe an all-you-can-drink buffet?" he continued, cheekily

It was in all, a pretty easy shoot- simple imagery, his underclassman was actually a good model and not a nightmare brat™, which was always good.
“A little closer together, yep, Mikaku-kun if you can move your head a little more like...yes, perfect!”
Thankfully everything wrapped up pretty fast, the director seeming to be pleased with the results. Just another job complete!
“Thank you very much.”
Mikaku bowed towards the director then staff in his usual award winning pleasant rich boy voice™ before he turned back to the younger teen.
“Hey, otsu~! Good job!”
He said brightly as they walked towards the dressing room to hopefully wash the 5 layers of makeup they had on before they left and get changed back into their casual clothing.
“Oh~ Sounds pretty interesting! Sure, I’m down~!”
The white haired model nodded as he started to remove his makeup, sweeping the two toned liquid that was on a cotton pad over his eyes. To be honest, Mikaku had 0 opinion on eating or drinking. It was a bit of a curse because of his quirk, the moment he put anything into his mouth it was just a flood of information, his senses analysing each part into the compounds of its make up which made it...hard to just enjoy anything.
That wasn’t to say he didn’t like going places with people to eat, mainly as he understood that was a thing humans did with each other to socially interact. And for that reason, he liked it but really where they went he didn’t mind much at all.
“Ahahaha well do you drink? I just don’t because it’s pointless for me, but it’s not to say I can’t but it would be empty calories…but if you like we can go to a bar”
Yes, they were minors, technically. Not that he cared about that kind of thing, and well the loophole was, if it was with food then it was a-ok... and who was he to judge? He wasn't the sort of person who was nitpicky about something like that in the slightest. Walking over to the sink he carefully washed his face with the cleanser before wiping himself dry and removing the clothing, putting his own back on.

Aki followed Mikaku's lead in getting cleaned up, dabbing the last of his cleanser's suds off his face with a towel.
"Drinks? Juice, yes. Alcohol, no. Hm." He stopped patting at his face, towel cupped over his cheeks, considering the suggestion. They were both minors, but Mikaku didn't seem bothered by that, seeing how he was the person who suggested it. Legal drinking ages aside, he had never actually been inside a bar before. Those fancy cocktail bars set up at galas and dinners were one thing, but his mother and her PR team had wanted to keep his image clean while he was young, and that meant avoiding any alcoholic establishments.
Still, that was while he was twelve. Aki was fifteen now, old enough to maybe sidle an inch away from that squeaky-clean image. And, they'd given him leave to handle bits of his own PR -- it was, after all, what he came to U.A. to study. Bars sold food, didn't they? He'd be fine if he didn't touch any drinks. He'd have to do a bit of damage control with his mother -- he could imagine her disapproval already, emanating in waves from his phone's speaker -- but he could spin it as a networking opportunity with an up-and-coming senior from his school.
"Still, I'm sure I'll be fine if you're there as my trustworthy chaperone for my thrilling first time," he said, folding the towel up and setting it down by the sink. "Let's go somewhere fun; maybe the excitement will burn off the empty calories. I've heard there's a bar with penguins."
He tugged at his choker, unlacing the ribbon, rubbing a ring finger over where the slightly-too-tight fabric left an indentation in his skin. Next, was his shirt; he moved to take it off, a little self-consciously. Undressing with company was a routine part of most of his photoshoots -- but Mikaku's earlier flirtatious demeanour popped up, unbidden, into his head, and his own unfortunate fifteen years-oldness had him somewhat tenser than he tended to be. Still, he resisted the temptation to sneak glances over at Mikaku. Kept his gaze forward, locked onto his own neatly-folded change of clothes in front of him, until he'd gotten his costume off and clothes on.
"So, dessert first, bar later, or...?" he said, turning to Mikaku, fully dressed at last.

“Oh really? I would be honored~ Don’t worry, I’ll try my best to make sure you have a good time~”
Mikaku winked with a playful smile, but actually he was a little surprised as by the time he was a first year he had been getting up to all sorts, but then...he had always been like that, a little too wayward. He gussed not everyone was such a problem child, which was a good thing. Maybe his childhood “friend” (or atleast, he liked to think Onishi Sen was...or had been his friend of sorts, as ridiculous the idea was for people like them) had influenced him more than he thought- his parents actually had a dedicated team to cover up most of the dumb things he had been caught doing by press and the like in the past few years.
He was a little older now and better at hiding now, it still didn’t stop him from doing most of the things he wanted to do, however- he wanted freedom; even if it was a false kind and really, everything from how the public saw him, who he married to his job all were predetermined already anyway. It was just an unspoken agreement between them and himself that as long as he follows it to the minimum, he was allowed to keep existing in the dream that he was living the life he chose to live.
Really he knew the truth.
But also he had accepted it long ago.
“Oh yeah~ That place? Sure thing♥ Does Akkun like animals?”
Mikaku didn’t even think to stare at someone else when they were changing as it wasn’t like they were stripping for that kind of reason, and doing stuff like that could be seen as creepy unless both sides had mutual feelings, and as far as the third year’s rather horned senses could tell, they weren’t like that, at least not yet and he definitely wasn’t a creepy guy, even if some of his peers (one in particular) seem to beg to differ on that opinion. Not to say his junior wasn’t cute, in fact he was very cute but of course he would be, he was a professional model!
“Yep, yep, sounds good! I’ll get my driver to take us around so you can tell yours to have an early night or something~”
He reached into his bag, pulling out his phone and started to compose a message to his driver, he probably was around and waiting for him anyway. Mikaku was dressed casually, a slightly asymmetrical, kind of oversized black jacket over a dark top, block trousers- though if one who knew their brands actually looked closely all his clothing was high end designer, but not a logo in sight.

"Hm, I don't dislike them." Aki had never had much prolonged contact with animals to begin with, outside the few photoshoots that found him cradling any number of puppies or kittens They were squirmy. Yappy. He could break them if he held them wrong. (He could break most things if he held them wrong -- which compounded that preexisting fear.) "Penguins are cute. They look like they're wearing little tuxedos. Very dapper. Do you have a favorite animal?"
He shot a quick message off to his chauffeur: Don't need a pickup. Going out with Mikaku-senpai ⭐ Will call when back at dorm. After a second of consideration, he CC-ed it to his mother, to forestall any potential misunderstandings.
"Thank you for the ride, senpai," Aki said, as he hit send. "I guess that means neither of us will have to be the designated driver," he added, with an ironic twist to his tone. They wouldn't have needed one in the first place, what with Mikaku's quirk burning off alcohol, and Aki's avoidance of imbibing -- and how they both had chauffeurs.
He straightened out his collar. Like Mikaku, Aki was dressed in casual clothes -- by his standards, at least. A navy, artfully-oversized blazer pulled over an off-white turtleneck, tucked into pale blue skinny jeans tucked into red high top sneakers, his gloves a matching deep maroon; simple, clean-cut, and made-to-order. He took a moment to admire Mikaku's outfit, the way it fit the older boy's form; this time, at least, it was clean of pubescent hormones -- a purely aesthetic admiration, the sort of appreciation of good fashion that came with a childhood spent around designers and their ilk.
"You look good," Aki said, sincerely.

It occurred to him that he was so busy with his third year duties and everything else he usually did (like work and lab work) that he hadn’t really researched much on this young boy. He usually knew all the rough details (like medical conditions, quirk, etc) about everyone who was worth knowing anything about, but he had been slacking on his knowledge lately. Last year of UA was something to be feared, for sure.
“Hmmmm… I think I like Virginia opossums, their faces are so expressive and kinna cute…”
Mikaku replied after a moment of thought. It was the first animal he could think of that was sort of amusing. He didn’t really care too much about animals, but he knew plenty of girls and guys who liked them so it was an easy thing to ice break with.
“Haha np np, I have to look after you or your parents would kill me!”
The third year said with a wave of his hand. He had noticed the gloves, and in this time and age it meant it probably was some quirk related thing rather than fashion. Another person who constantly wore gloves came to his mind, and as he caught himself reminiscing, he pushed them out of his mind and a faint bitter taste was all that was left in his mouth, like a phantom...would it never go away?
“Thanks! Akkun looks good too, as expected of a pro!”
He beamed as the car sped through the streets of Tokyo, whizzing past the myriad of shops and restaurants that made up the metropolis.
“Soooo~ How’s everything going for you these days? You’re on the management course, right? Please manage me, my Personal Image Manager says I’m a nightmare...dunno why though!”
He joked, though it was...partially not a joke. He had a whole team, and to be honest they really did work very hard to try and present him in a positive and clean light, he was very much aware of that and thankful.

He rooted around in his memory, but the word "opossum" only brought to mind the vaguest impression of an emaciated raccoon; a quick search on his phone pulled up an image that wasn't emaciated, but somehow did seem endearingly raccoon-adjacent. "It's like a pointy tanuki," he said, glancing at the image (a single irate opossum, mouth open in an endless scream) with a huff of amusement before placing his phone back down on his lap.
"Mm-hmm, management," Aki hummed in response to Mikaku's question, twirling his index finger in slow circles as he pointed at himself. "The only course that teaches students how to file taxes and balance accounts. It's high-octane stuff. The paperwork makes for a good bicep workout."
He leant back into his seat, slouching against the door -- lightly, carefully, taking caution not to scuff the leather or the lacquer -- and watched the city lights dance across the interior of the car, and flit across Mikaku's face. "Unfortunately, I've got my hands full managing my own image at the moment," he said, some remorse colouring his tone. "Apparently, coordinating media appearances involves more work than just sending an RSVP."
"But as long as we resist the urge break any antique teacups or steal any penguins, I'm sure your image will be squeaky-clean for today."
He tipped his head, peering out of the window, just in time to see the bakery in the distance. It was a blink-and-you'd-miss-it, hole-in-the-wall sort of place, with its the only distinguishing feature being the sign hanging above its entrance -- a cursive "Elise" carved into wood, lit with a warm orange glow from a wall-mounted lamp.
"We're here," Aki said. A little redundantly. The chauffeur almost definitely had GPS.

“Ahahahaha, yeah, yeah that one. Never fails to make me laugh so I like it.”
Mikaku laughed, it wasn’t a lie, it was one of those creatures that were ugly-cute. Out of habit, the support student's eyes casually watched the other as they were driven, it was a thing he always did when he was around others, analysing and observing their mannerisms and body language. As expected of someone who was brought up in that unique environment of the top 1% of Japan, he could tell from the way Aki carried himself that he was relaxing, but also at the same time tension didn’t leave his body as he was being careful not to damage any of his surroundings. Impressive, but as expected.
“I’m sorry to say, once you get to third year it won’t get any easier...I’ve heard some of the third year management guy’s nightmare stories about the hero students they have to work with...hahaha...can’t say I envy you guys, we support roles got it tough, huh?”
The car stopped right outside the small establishment, and the door opened automatically, Mikaku gave his driver a cheerful wave and mouthed ”I’ll text you!!” to him as he stepped out, the older man giving a nod. It was routine for them now, as the man (Matssun) had been Mikaku's driver since he was very very young.
“Okay, I’ll try to be on my best behavior.”
He joked, waiting for the younger boy to follow him before making their way to the door of the shop, the door opening with a chorus of chimes. The air inside smelt definately of water, though it wasn’t unpleasant- it was actually quite a cute place, and not all that full which was probably a good thing.
