Taifu was, and in many regards still is, an exceptionally handsome young man. Having Danish grandparents who raised their kid in Japan, he shares his mother's pale skin and exceptionally blonde hair that causes him to stand out in crowds. For a while, this had been the most exceptional thing about his appearance.
After the incident in Fukuoaka. however, his appearance has changed drastically. His limbs have both been replaced by robotic replacements, containing a great amount of support items to make him continuiing his work as a Pro Hero viable. Designed more for efficiency rather than to emulate a human appearance, they are very clearly metallic with wires and tubes visible to be seen even were he to wear clothes over the top.
The shrapnel of the blast also shredded his face, and whilst most of the skin damage was repaired by a healing quirk his eyes were destroyed, causing them to need to be replaced by bionic replacements. They share the inhuman appearance of his arms, with black sclera and golden irises. This grants him an extremely strange appearance that draws eyes no matter where he goes.
As for clothes, due to the nature of his quirk he tends to wear as few as possible. Generally going shirtless with either a hoodie or some sort of jacket over the top, something he can shed rapidly if the need calls for it. The most sunstabtial thing he tends to wear is a pair of smart trousers, wanting to appear publically decent especially considering his reputation as a Pro Hero.
The other major piece of clothing he wears is a gorget, wrapped around his throat to hide the very large amount of scar tissue where burning bricks rested across his throat whilst he lay under the rubble, leaving a very large square scar across it.
When actively on duty as a pro-hero, he tends to wear a pair of open-toed runnig shoes and a pair of shorts, and very little else. As much as he adores the pageantry of super-hero costumes, the nature of his quirk prevents him from indulging.

RUMOR: | The Fukuoka Incident was his own fault. |
Taifu as a person is somewhat hard to track down. One could easily describe some basic characteristics of him: He's smart, he's kind, he sincerely believes that people have a duty to give back to society, but these are just aspects of him, akin to pieces of a puzzle. The largest piece, the overwhelming driving force behind his existence, is the conflict he has struggled with every day since his birth: Whether to follow his grandfather or his father.
Pro-Heroes are expected to be many things: Brave, heroic, dutiful, loyal to their convictions, and many things besides. Taifu, for his part, is an excellent example of what one should live up to. Having been the son of a pro-hero himself, it is clear that he has spent years cultivating his image and trying his best to be what the people want of him. For this reason, although never making it into the top 10 chart, Taifu was able to make a small following for himself in the public eye.
That in itself has become a problem: He feels a constant burden to be at his best. He is unable to be anything less than perfect or he feels a sense of failure or disappointment, a voice in the back of his head akin to his father reminding him of just how far he has yet to go. One could see even his prosthetics as an extension of that - designed to be strong, effective tools, more useful than comforting. They echo a certain failure in his direct humanity, in his sincerity as he focuses more on being the best he can be rather than simply helping others.
This belief in accomplishment rather than simply helping others for the sake of others' has also resulted in his severe distaste and disdain for vigilantes. Whilst he understands their desire to make an effect on the world, he finds their actions incomprehinsible. If they wanted to help, why not go through the minimum of effort and get a license? That way they could help people in the open. Either they are lazy or they're criminals just looking for a way to feel good about themselves. In his mind, many of the vigilantes are just as bad as active criminals and should be treated as such.
It is ironic that it took Taifu being constrained to a bed for him to take a day off, as now that he's had a small taste of the easy life its difficult to get back into his overachievement streak. He has found that he enjoys quiet days, he enjoys being able to just sleep in in the morning, doing chores around the house for the sake of seeing someone smile at the relief of not having to do it themselves. He has even started to get back in contact with his grandfather after a great number of years, despite the strife that's caused between him and his father.
Inside him, he feels like he's constantly being pulled in two directions. One half just wants to live comfortably and slowly outside of the limelight where his every action and wardrobe choice isn't being judged by others. Where he can simply be Taifu Sawamura. The other half wants nothing more than to be accepted as strong and powerful like his father. To be respected, to be honored, to be acknowledge. He wants to be Beacon.
The problem is, as far as he sees it, there is no way to find a happy medium. You either go all out or you don't try at all, otherwise what's the point?
Nobody runs a race aiming for the silver medal, after all.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH: | Kumamoto, Kyushu |
PARENTS: | Freja Sawamura (nee. Eklund) Mikio Sawamura |
SIBLINGS: | None |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | None, as of yet |
OTHER: | Japanese bob-tailed cat called Warugaki |
Taifu was born in a somewhat unique position: His father a pro-hero, his mother the daughter of Danish immigrants who moved to Japan to profit from the Pro-hero industry as Support Item manufacturers, he was indoctrinated into the culture of the Hero Society from the day he was born. Raised almsot singlehandedly by his mother, with his father working long hours almost every single day to try and achieve his own personal dreams of renown, he was a relatively happy young cihld.
Like many in his position, he started aping his father from an early age, and their similar quirks made such things easier than most. Whilst his dad lacked the photovoltaic nature of his quirk, likely triggered by the interbreeding of his mother's plant quirk's chlorophyll and his father's electrogeneration, they shared the ability to generate electricity and thus the need to know how to do things safely and securely before using their powers in public places. His father was the fountainhead of a lot of his current issues, his sincere belief that one either gave their all or needed not to bother in the slightest.
Meanwhile, he spent most of his time around his mother and her family, especially his grandfather Bo Eklund. Bo had made a significant amount of money at an early age, benefitting from his plant quirk's use in the pharmaceutical industry, and had thus had the luxury of taking the rest of his life relatively easy. A big proponent of Hygge, of ensuring a long life through slow action and comfortable enjoyment of one's day to day life, the conflict between Bo's and Mikio's ideals made for a tense familial situation. Eventually, the family moved away from his hometown to separate Taifu from his grandfather so that he wouldn't be a bad influence.
Despite living away from Bo's grandparents, the Sawamuras still benefitted heavily from relatively rich bloods and their familial generosity. As such, Taifu never really struggled financially, able to spend less time worried about part time jobs and paying rent and more time attempting to follow in his father's footsteps. With each passing year, he became more and more strong-headed about this conviction, this need to be strong. Sent away from home at the age of 15 to study at Shiketsu, the same place his father had gone and his father before him, he studied hard for multiple years and became the valedictorian of his graduating class.
Like UA, Shiketsu also encouraged its students to take an apprenticeship at an agency. Taifu, obviously, spent his internship at his father's company - Svalinn Hero Agency - and spent his time working directly under his father once more. Unlike other students, he was pushed out onto the streets and made to act as a full-scale professional before he was truly ready. After all, as far as Mikio cared, this was a chance to begin his kid's fame. Being ill prepared for being thrown into the hotseat, he found himself acting like a "true hero", stiffly and rigidly attempting to embody the image of the perfect pro-hero and in so doing repressing his own personality and his own desires. Many times during those days, he would spend his entire day doing others' requests no matter how small and stupid, like escorting people across the road and helping to stop bike thefts. As he did so, he found that people simply thanking him didn't feel like enough. It all felt like empty words, as if their thanks and their smiles ultimately meant nothing. All the while, Mikio refused to give him any of the same compliments or praise, only giving him constructive criticism and lessons to improve instead.
By the time of his graduation, he was once more brought back into his father's agency and working himself ragged. Gifted with a naturally powerful quirk and a strong sense of what a hero SHOULD be, he found himself a minor celebrity in the city of Kagashima. He was far from a natural celebrity, but he was a rising starlet in his own regard, good at press ops and smiling for the cameras. Yet, for nearly a decade he was always pushing himself to do more, to work harder, to get better, chasing after an ideal that was impossible to reach. One cannot reach "best", because it constantly means improving and improving and improving. No sick days, never allowing himself to stay in the hospital longer than necessary, no holidays or weekend trips. The moment there was any work to do, he was doing it.
One could compare Taifu to the legend of the Kohinoor - He was never sharp enough, he was never bright enough, he was continuously whittled down and recut over and over again to try and get some aspect of perfection. And whilst that sharpness resulted in an ever more beautiful final product, his own inability to settle for "good enough" constantly meant a reduction in material, shavings left on the cutting room floor.
And then came the Fukuoka incident. Whilst Taifu had spent his years in Kagashima, the agency itself spread across the island of Kyushu, meaning that they were one of the first agencies contacted to deal with a group of villains operating out of Fukuoka's docks. Whilst they weren't a danger in of themselves, they were acting as arms dealers to other minor villains, making individually weak villains far more dangerous. Attempting to cut the head off the snake, Taifu was one of the heroes sent in due to his ability to fry electronics with his quirk. However, considering his current situation, its somewhat obvious that the mission didn't go well.
It appearred that they had been tipped off, as they were ready for the Agency when they moved in. Thankfully, for the most part, it seemed to go off without a hitch. Multiple villains were apprehended as they stormed through multiple warehouses on the seafront. However, as Taifu and his team went into their warehouse, they found themselves being attacked by a villain with a flame quirk.
Worried about the use of flames around such potentially explosive materials, Taifu tried to draw the villain away whilst the rest of his team went in and destroyed the contraband. However, much to his embarrassment, he had failed to consider the fact that the villain had planned for this, as whilst he was dealing with the villain, he set off an explosive within the warehouse itself, triggering the stockpile to go off and destroying the warehouse and the rest of his team inside. Caught by surprise, he was not only unable to stop it but he was caught partially in the blast. Being only in the periphery, he was not killed like the other members of the Agency, but his right side was crushed under a great weight of bricks and his eyes were shredded by shrapnel, leaving him in a completely wrecked state.
This was about a year and a half ago. Thankfully, the healing quirks of the staff at the hospital he was spent to kept him alive and massively sped up his recovery time, yet it was not an easy thing to recover from. Half of his body was destroyed, he had been left blind and crippled, and he felt a great deal of mental anguish at having essentially sent his men to their deaths. Thankfully, his grandfather's contacts in the medical field allowed him access to state of the art prosthetics to make up for his lost limbs and his eyes, but he still had to take a large amount of physiotherapy to be able to use them, not to mention emotional and mental counselling.
For the first time in his life, he was physically unable to push himself, he was stuck in bed most of the time and given very little other options. As such, he found himself being visited by his grandfather and encouraged to live a far simpler, easier lifestyle. At least until he recovered, he /indulged, surprised at just how much he enjoyed himself.
Needing a stepping stone to get back into the work and to give back whilst he was getting used to his new body, he sent his resume around minor agencies and academies. During his time in Shiketsu he had made some extra money by tutoring underclassmen and so he believed it was a natural fit. A way to give back to the community as he always wished to do whilst he dealt with his new reputation as either a "tragic hero" or a rash moron who had caused the death of his team. He needed more legitimacy, and it seemed that that was to be given by the UA staff.
Offered a job with the premiere Hero Academy, even equalling his own school in Shiketsu, he snapped up the offer and accepted.

THE ARMORY
Smartphone | Non-name brand, secured and unlimited data equipped. More than that, it contains a schedule of his day-to-day life, and contains a large amount of notes within a notepad app that he has maintained for a series of years.
Prosthetic Right Arm | Designed for combat efficiency, and made out of reinforced carbon fiber. Able to take significantly more damage than his fleshy arm, as well as lifting about as much as a forklift truck without stalling. Also equipped with shock absorbers to absorb impact force should it be needed to stop someone.
Prosthetic Right Leg | Designed for combat efficiency and made out of reinforced carbon fiber. Able to move up to 50 mph when needed without lagging, similarly shock absorbant to the arm.
Bionic Eyes | Able to mimic 20/20 vision typically, as well as activating multiple side-abilities, such as thermovision for night-time missions, performing criminal record checks on those who it looks at, telescopic vision of up to 100 meters, and perceiving UV and IF. However, said eyes glow different colours when performing such tasks, making it apparent when he's doing so.
Mini-Sun | A portable lightsource around the size of a baseball and able to be kept in Taifu's pockets. Upon being squeezed, it is able to output a similar amount of light as floodlights, blinding to look at and acting as a temporary lit space for him to recoup his quirk within. However, the ball itself is made of very light materials and is able to be smashed by being stamped on. As such, he maintains three on his body at all times. Shines for an hour at full battery, or until squeezed again.
Smart Sunglasses | A pair of sunglasses designed with Taifu's quirk in mind. Able to automatically adjust to remain in the presence of bright light without dazzling Taifu, such as standing within floodlights or in the presence of his Mini-Suns. It can also be manually increased or decreased by twisting a portion of the glasses' temples to hide active use of the Bionic Eyes.

QUIRK & SKILLS
SOLAR POWERED
TYPE: Mutant
RANK: A-
SUMMARY: Taifu's quirk is a unique, specialised form of electrogenesis. Unlike other similar quirks where the electricity is generated through the quirk itself, the quirk instead is a physical alteration of Taifu's body. Where other people have an appendix, his body instead has an organ referred to as a "hunter's organ" - a form of electric organ found in many animals that use bioelectricity, such as the Gymnotiformes. In other words, rather than being purely electrogenetic, he is also electroreceptive: able to sense electricity and generate his own.
However, his organ works in conjunction with a secondary mutation of his body - that of his skin being photovoltaic. The electricity generated by his quirk is done not through calories but through the accumulation and transformation of light on his skin, akin to a solar panel (hence the name of the quirk). The longer his body is in direct light of any form, from sun to fire to even artificial, the more energy his body can convert and store in his Hunter's Organ to output later.
Upon the creation of the energy, it can be output in one of two versions: External or internal. Through external use he can create bursts of electricity, either zapping things he comes directly in contact with or sending them out in bursts or waves akin to an electrical storm. These bursts can reach up to a 15 meters cone, whereas this wave affects everyone in 10 meters without restraint, resulting in up to third degree burns, incineration and severe risk of heart failures. He can also use this to supply power to machines and turn himself into a makeshift battery source.
Internally, he is able to use electrostimulation to manipulate his muscles into working harder, eliciting inhuman levels of strength and speed. - He can push his body up to about 50 mph for small periods of time (1-2 turns) before suffering extreme stiffness and pain that makes it difficult to move. Passively, he can move about 25-30 mph through minor electrostimulation that lacks such damage. Likewise, his fists can punch through concrete and severely dent normal metals for 3-4 posts before suffering stiffness and pain. Passively, he can strike with the strength of a trained slugger boxer through minor electrostimulation.
As a minor side ability, he's able to detect the presence of electrical charge in objects through three inches of steel, although this is more like a background awareness more than anything.
WEAKNESSES: The main weakness of this quirk is also its main strength - the photovoltaic nature of his skin. As long as he's under direct light, his body will continue to generate electricity, but outside of fully lit areras his Hunter's Organ acts as a battery, meaning it is fully possible to deplete his energy supply. He has about five turns worth of energy outside of a direct light source, restoring a turn's energy for every turn in said light (two in direct sunlight).
Another problem of this quirk that is unique to him is that, as its derived from his body's energy transfer, it grows weaker the more layers of clothes there are between his bare skin and the lightsource. This prevents him from wearing any proper form of protection, hence resulting in the Fukuoka incident. It has also resulted in the quirk's strength being weakened by there being less skin on his body overall to convert light into electricity, turning a previously A rank skill into A- until he can find some way to compensate.
Beyond this, his quirk shares weaknesses from other electric-based quirks - that being a weakness to earth-based quirks and other such quirks that make conduction difficult. If used underwater, he's as liable to stun himself as to stun those around him, resulting in him sharing the damage dealt to his opponents if used in such a way.
He also suffers from his body being used to his own form of electricity rather than that of others. Typically, he cannot damage himself through surrounding his body with his electricity or shooting it out of his hands unless the wavelength is altered through passing through surrounding water. However, he can be hurt by other forms of electricity just as easily as anyone else as he's unused to static or mains' type electricity.

ANALYTICAL MIND
RANK/LEVEL: BSUMMARY: Trained from an early age to be a pro-hero, Taifu has a good understanding of tactics and plans. Conjoined with various scanning tools within his bionic eyes, he is able to come up with and recognise plans and techniques rapidly in order to out-think or out-maneouver the enemy, whoever they may be.
BRUTE FORCE
RANK/LEVEL: BSUMMARY: A fighting style not dissimilar to pancration due to it being a hodgepodge of skills that Taifu has picked up after years in the field. Grapples, holds, strikes, moves dedicated to bring an opponent to the ground and keep them there. Aided by the sheer strength granted by his quirk and his prosthetics, he is able to overpower most opponents with relative ease simply through continuous, determined strikes.
PEOPLE'S CHAMPION
RANK/LEVEL: C (A provisionally)SUMMARY: Like many of the teachers at UA, Taifu was a dedicated pro-hero for half a decade and was somewhat popular. However, his territory was on the island of Kyushu, making him less of an icon in areas like Tokyo. Still, he has many dedicated fans, and has a great amount of experience being diplomatic and charming for the cameras, able to appear as a true man of the people.
