Are you alright? [attr="class","avreyamain"] Deep in Akihabara, one can find anything they need for hero duty, all the way to clothes designed to blend in with normal society. In this small ward of Tokyo, Avreya would be found traveling from shop to shop, browsing, before sighing and moving on to the next location; not once did she enter one of the establishments. One she passed by had a very beautiful dark purple dress. Such a dress caught her eye causing her to stay in one place for a longer period of time that she expected before a quick look at the price tag caused her to lower her head in defeat before walking further. [break][break] It was a strange sight to the others in Akibahara. To them, people tended to try to keep their appearances in check, often blending in with those around them, or they were in the market for hero equipment and dressed in their hero outfit; yet here Avreya was, walking around in her normal hyper-casual outfit with complete disregard to how others saw her. Atop her head was a large black hat, with a single word is written in bolded Cyrillic. герой was the word, pronounced geroy, meaning hero. If only those around here could actually read Russian; little did they know it was a partial trap to find other Russians! Nobody took the bait if there even were any around. It wouldn't be that easy to find her family. The rest of her clothes were strange as well to the region, wearing a black and white hoodie with loose-fitting slacks and a gym backpack on her back, she continued onward. [break][break] Still, despite her travels to the Akihabara district, Avreya kept her wits about her. Despite her calm, luxurious demeanor and clothes, she watched those around her, noting their various styles of clothes and checking out the other heroes in the area. Just because she didn't do much as a hero anymore didn't mean she didn't need to check out the competition. A few heroes off in the distance could be seen showing each other this new fancy piece of support equipment they got; from what she could see it looked like a gun of some sort in shape, with a handle and a long barrel but from this far it appeared to have no place for a clip. Perhaps, it was just a focus for their quirk. [break][break] Passing by one more store, this time one that had various general equipment on sale in the window, she stopped and stared. One of the devices was a large device known to store excessive amounts of electricity, but only for a short period of time. Memories flooded her as she closed her eyes, stumbling back a bit, bumping into someone behind her. Shocked from the sudden impact, Avreya spun around, holding her hands up. "Sorry sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you like that. Are you alright?" [attr="class","addy"] addy

Running hard. Her lungs breathed deep as if she had spread her wings and soared through the air with her dark, brown and silver speckled wings. Her lungs filled with air fully before being forced out hard through her mouth hard while she ran. Yes, she had wings and knew how to use them, but when you are trying to be inconspicuous in a crowd of people who are all potential marks you have to keep everything on the down low. She had her hoodie pulled up over her blonde hair. The hair was a dead giveaway that she wasn't fully Japanese. Her mother was from Britain, though she never talked about them often due to bad endings with them with Misao's birth and origin. Misao wore her middle school uniform with her beat up sneakers and her big hoodie over it. Normally she wouldn't be around so many people willingly, but since she needed some extra cash to get some new pencil's for school, she had to do what she had to do. The Orphanage was nice and all....but they didn't really take care of the extras she needed on a daily basis. Misao only took what she needed, never for greed. She thought herself like one of those noble thieves, though she was a thief no matter how you put it on her.
"Just one more....." Misao muttered under her breath as she slowed down, her wings pulled close to her body, tucked in so that they wouldn't be in the way. Her body felt light and springy. That was the only upside to it, however, and she was just as fragile as a normal bird. Squeeze too tight and her light would be extinguished quickly. It wasn't until she had made it to a certain district that she had to be careful of her own actions. The area she was in now tended to have more heroes or hero wannabe's that frequented the area to do their purchases for their glory seeking. Misao was not a fan of heroes, but she did not get in their way. She held a lot of withheld anger and resentment for heroes due to her upbringing. She felt they should save everyone, not just when it was convenient or when it made them look better. After all...nobody saved mom....nobody saved me... Misao thought as she moved along silently, her feet light as air on the ground as she moved in and out of the crowds. In her eyes, the villains were just as bad, but maybe they had their reasons to do what they did? She didn't know, but she was sure that she would just live her life for her and nobody else. Not until she met HIM. The man who ruined her entire life and made it so that she suffered by giving her life.
She knew she had a half sibling since her mother told her in a drunken haze about her birth father and the son he had and wanted instead of Misao. Misao guessed that her mother didn't even tell the man she was pregnant and ended up staying in Japan due to her pride rather than necessity. Though the thought of being born for no reason did not sit well with the young girl. What purpose would she have? However, Misao had looked up the man in question and had gotten a picture of both him and his son. It took part of her cash stash, but she figured it was worth it when she finally met up with them and let the old man have it for his misdeeds. The current target of the small girl was an old man who was standing a small ways behind a woman with long silver white hair who was staring into a shop window. She had a strange look about her, but Misao ignored her for a moment while getting to the old man beside her. Silently she had walked up to the old man with her hands stuffed into her hoodie pockets, making herself seem smaller and out of sight as much as possible. However, as soon as her hand quietly left her pocket to reach quickly into the old man's pocket, the woman had stepped back suddenly and into Misao....who then bumped into the old man sending him back.
Using this to her advantage even though she was put off guard, she slipped a small half handful of coins into her pocket before she fell on the ground with her wings un-tucking themselves to steady her, or at least try to. Misao's cheeks blushed red in her embarrassment, though she was a little irritated. Her hood fell off revealing her blonde hair and olive green eyes. Misao looked up at the lady and then the old man, who looked at Misao in worry before seeing that she was okay and going on with his day on down the road. Good....he didn't notice.... Misao sighed in relief a little as she pushed herself up and stretched her wings to make sure they were okay. The lady asked if she was okay. Misao was not untoward with strangers, though she did hold some distrust for them.
"Yes, I am fine. I didn't get hurt." Her voice was as light as a bird's, a small trill with a slight edge to it that came from having a life like hers. "Are you okay, Ane-san?"

Admiring the heroes up close? Don't bother. [attr="class","avreyamain"] Still feeling the shock from seeing such an old piece of gear from her past, Avreya had closed her eyes after the bump and hadn't noticed it was a little girl that she had accidentally bumped into. Noting to herself, that whatever she bumped had to have been exceptionally light as it yielded little to no resistance when she did, but when hearing an older, gruff voice seem to grunt as if in acknowledgment before it joined the sounds of footsteps nearby Avreya would start to open her eyes; just around the time that the little girl responded. [break][break] To say she was shocked was the least of it. Blinking twice she had to make sure she wasn't seeing an illusion. Did she just step back into a kid? In the shopping area? Must be lost. A smile formed on the platinum blonde's face as she lowered herself to the ground. If her family could see her at this moment, they would have mocked her for months on end; she has truly evolved into a full gopnitsa with the squat she just performed. Such a squat wasn't designed to intimidate, but rather to get closer to the small girl's height in an attempt to earn a bit of trust by talking at a level field, rather than talking down to her. [break][break] "Hey, hey. Glad you're alright. Here..." She'd extend her hand to help the child stand. "So, what is a kid like you doing so far in Akihabara?" Her smile was genuine and grew to a bit of a laugh as she finished. "Admiring the heroes up close? Don't bother. There are better things out there to adore." Avreya's voice could only be deemed as soothing, unemotional, minus the small bits of laughter and undertones of worry one would think that just by the sound of her voice, she was a woman who had finished grieving. Her face comparatively was completely calm with a smile so warm even her eyes were smiling. If the child took her hand, she would stand up while assisting the girl to her feet, still keeping eye contact. [break][break] "What's your name? I'm Ava." This was her nickname that her father gave her long ago, well before she became a hero; certainly appropriate as her name might be difficult to say by the locals. Ava was much easier to say; much shorter too! [attr="class","addy"] addy

The woman in front of her looked somewhat odd. Misao wasn't one to judge another, so she didn't say it out loud nor keep on the thought. Since Misao had gotten what she needed, or at least hoped, she figured that she needed to get going so she could make it to the shops before they closed for the day so she could get her pencil and if she was lucky and had gotten enough, a pencil case as well. The winged girl did not reach for the lady's hand and instead pushed herself to her feet and dusted herself off. Her wings stretched out slightly behind her so that she could make sure they were fine. They were a beautiful midnight black color with speckled of brown and silver in the feathers. Quickly the young girl moved her hands within her feathers to make sure that nothing was broken or stuck. There were times that she found small bits stuck in her feathers. It didn't happen often, but it was enough for her to check when she fell. Due to the girl's fragile body, she had to make sure she didn't suffer from broken bones or splintered bones at the very least. She didn't expect kindness from the woman, though that was because she distrusted any hero she came across. She sorta just generalized their behavior to only be about helping others for the sake of glory. At least, that's how she thought them all to be. She didn't know this woman was a hero, but figured that she was part of the process.
When she looked up next after sifting through her wings to make sure they were okay, Misao noticed how bright and glowing the lady's eyes were. It was almost creepy to Misao if not for the fact that her own eyes did almost the same thing when she used her quirk in certain ways. Folding her wings gently behind her and tucking them tightly to her back, Misao listened to what the woman was saying. The child had to stop herself from rolling her eyes at the part about the heroes, though she did smile slightly at how the woman said there were other things better to do. Interesting... Misao thought with a small smile. Her expression was calm and pleasant. When she wasn't trying to pickpocket someone or sneak in to steal something from somewhere, she tended to be a pretty chill person. She was kind to the other kids at the orphanage and often brought back gifts of small things she found on her walks around the city after school. She wasn't old enough to have a job yet, but that didn't stop her from getting what she needed for school and various activities. She was also very careful to never let on to the adults at the orphanage what she does or what she gets. The other kids learned to keep quiet about Misao's activities.
"Um, I was out for a walk and looking for something for school. I heard there was a pretty cheap store around here where I could get some new pencils that were cute." It wasn't entirely a lie, but she sold it pretty well nonetheless with a bright smile. After her mother died, and even before that, it took Misao everything she had to smile again. Luckily after the death of her mother the men who pursued the debt they owed did not come after Misao. The days were dark and grey, but with time and her new friends at the orphanage, she started to slowly get her smile back little by little. At the question of her name, Misao hesitated. She wasn't sure if she should trust the woman with even that. However, just her first name was something she would be okay with for now. "M-My name is Misao, it's nice to meet you Ava-oneechan." Remembering her manners, Misao bowed politely to the woman. "I should be going back home now, please excuse me," Misao started to say before she looked around and noticed she was in an area that she wasn't used to and from where she was, she wasn't sure how to get back to the orphanage. Hesitation with a little worry filtered across the winged girls face before she looked back up to the woman. "Would you....happen to know which way Ikebukoro is?" If she can find that, she could find her way back to the orphanage at the very least. She just might be a bit late is all.

[attr="class","avreyamain"] Avreya's smile faltered a little when the little girl refused her assistance in standing, but stayed stalwart when she watched her dust her self off, making sure she wasn't injured. Relief was what was felt when the smile was given, being returned by her own smile widening once more. It seemed the young one here was on an adventure to buy school supplies. What seemed off to Avreya was that a strange idea was just where they were; this was the place where heroes bought their gear, not where students would find anything in their price range. [break][break] With the way the girl called her Ava-oneechan was just adorable; such a given honorific made her giggle slightly. Misao was her name, such a cute little sparrow she was. Sadly, it appeared that the two would part ways as Misao had mentioned needing to go back home. Normally, when between adults this would have meant that Avreya would have turned and walked away, but this was a child. Nobody just let a child wander off on their own, at most they would watch as they left to make sure they were truly fine before leaving their sight and setting the adult free, and this is exactly what Avreya did. Standing there, smiling calmly, she watched the small Misao look around, then hesitate with a worried expression. [break][break] 'Oh no, she's lost.' Was the only thought that hit Avreya's mind, and was shortly confirmed by the girl asking for directions to Ikebukuro. Ikebukuro? Did she come all the way from there? The surprise hit Avreya hard as she sputtered out in laughter. This laughter wasn't at Misao, but rather the idea that she somehow made her way Akihabara all the way from Ikebukuro. "Haha... Ikebukuro you can't be..." One look at the little girl was all she needed to catch herself. "You are serious huh?" With a sigh, she'd lower herself once more to Misao's height, but staying just a bit higher. [break][break] "You know, Ikebukuro is really really far away from here." Her smile was gone with this sentence, becoming more serious before laughing. "Here, I'm sure you probably know your way from the train station but... I can't knowingly let you take the train yourself." Standing straight, she puffed out her chest a bit. "I'm going with you. Besides, I have no need to waste my time over here anymore." A quick glance to the electricity absorption device in the window was made, then back to the girl. "And who knows... perhaps we might come across a few cute pencils on the way. What do you say we... head on over to the train and maybe pick up some school supplies for you along the way?"[break][break] Was it the oneechan part of the little girl's speech pattern or was it the fact that she was lost that made Avreya want to help her? No, it had to be a combination of those and the fact that she felt bad for knocking her over earlier. Still, Ikebukuro was 30 to 40-minute train ride, much faster than the few hour walk that would normally have been made. First was to see if Misao would let her take her back to Ikebukuro; One could only hope that the kid wasn't adamant about going alone. Perhaps it was just the lady's kindness, or it was just Misao wanting company after all, but she did not mind the lady accompanying her in the slightest. In Misao's more criminal oriented mind, she figured it would be a nice cover for her if anyone were to ask her if she was okay and if she needed help getting home. At least this time the lady didn't seem to have any bad vibes about her that gave Misao the creeps. She had her fair share of run-ins with creeps in the past two years that she was more careful when she did go out and about by herself, which was often. Her wings un-tucked themselves with her slight irritation at being laughed at. Misao's face puffed up with a small angry pout as she watched the woman laugh when she asked for directions to ikebukuro. It's not funny! Misao thought with a grumble to herself. Despite having grown up in Tokyo all her life, Misao didn't actually have time to really learn the streets on ground level that well. She could fly pretty well, but flying long enough made her tired and she would have had to stop and rest before continuing. At least on foot she could retain her energy for as long as possible before having to resort to using her wings. "Yes i'm serious, oneechan!" Misao said as she loosened up a bit to reveal her embarrassment over being laughed at.
As soon as the woman stopped laughing, Misao sighed as she absently started to run a hand over one part of her feathers in a nervous gesture. The silver and brown flecks hidden within the midnight black feathers shone in the sun and caused her wings to take on a different color they usually do on normal days in the dark coverings. Misao liked the dark, it offered her some form of comfort within it's cold embrace on cloudy nights. She could cover herself with her quirk and make quick getaways when in danger and with that darkness she felt comforted in that nobody could see her. It's like Schrodinger's cat. You can't see it, but it both exists and doesn't at the same time. If nobody observes Misao, she could exist and not exist and be content with that. As soon as the woman offered to take her back to her home. Home was stretching it, but it was some place to sleep and regroup. "Well..." Misao's voice trilled gently as she thought on it. Having her around won't be bad, and the lady did seem to be genuine in her feelings of wanting to help Misao. Despite not trusting this woman, Misao nodded and folded her wings back tightly onto her back, tucking them tightly to keep them safe. "Okay, oneechan, I will accept your help. I really do need to pick up some new pencils for school. I have been writing so many notes in my club that I went through my supply for school." This wasn't a lie, but it was a bit outside her norm to even tell anyone this. She loved plants and enjoyed learning about them. She took to jotting down notes so that she could learn more and retain more knowledge for later use.
"Please help me reach my home, oneechan, thank you for being so kind," Misao bowed politely to the woman before turning to walk towards the train station a while away. "I hope I am not taking you away from any important plans." Misao wondered just who this woman was, though prying would be rude. If she was in the hero shopping district then logic would state that this woman was hero or hero-adjacent. "Are you a hero?" Misao did not like heroes, but so far this woman gave her no reason to hate her personally even if she was one.

It's a long story that I'm certain you wouldn't want to hear. [attr="class","avreyamain"] There it was again, the Onee-chan honorific that seemed to strike Avreya's chords just the right way. It reminded her of times long ago, times that she wished she could return to but not everyone was able to get what they wanted. The least she could do is perhaps give this kid a little help in school. More and more the little girl reminded her of her little brother; only he could write so many notes that he would run out of supplies for school. Jeez, that kid was impossible. [break][break] Smiling, and shaking her head Avreya spoke, reassuring her that she had nothing better to do at the time. "Nah kiddo. Only plans I have was reminiscing and well, those who dwell on the past get stuck in the past." She would have gone to ruffle the girl's hair but then the question she wanted to avoid answering was made. Are you a hero? Was she a hero? Not anymore, maybe. She still did heroic work but not for the same reason as most of the other heroes out there did. It was just a way to make money and survive now but the kid wanted to know. [break][break] Her hand paused mid-air as she was reaching out toward Misao as her breathing halted. Both eyes scanned the girls face; there was no sense of exceptional joy or starry-eyedness that would normally have come with a kid meeting a hero in person but that could just mean that she was waiting for confirmation. "Am I a hero?" Her breathing resumed as she brought her hand up to her face, massaging her temples. "I suppose I still qualify..." Standing up to her full height, she smiled back to Misao, confirming her suspicions. "Yeah, I'm technically still a hero. It's a long story that I'm certain you wouldn't want to hear." Patting the young girl on the head, she pointed forward. [break][break] "I know this place pretty well. The train is that way and there should be a small convenience store along the way." Her smile was back once more as she continued. "They always have school supplies somewhere in convenience stores." Finally, she started walking towards their destination, turning slightly to keep an eye on Misao, stopping if she ever got too far forward, and keeping closer if the crowd got too thick to traverse.
