first day
⤜a new student, a new friend⤛ Mitsuko shuttered at the fact of being up early and being in a good mood. How Mitsuko was in the early morning versus her normally was completely different. Though, she kept that fact to herself. She attempted to maintain eye-contact with Kyoko but, again, had to break her stare often. When he mentioned that he lived in the US prior to moving to Japan, Mitsuko couldn't help but wander back into her memories to see if her father was ever stationed there. No memories stood out so she mentally shrugged it off. I've heard of things done differently in the United States. I haven't had any experience there, I don't think... Mitsuko's voice trailed off after think. She absorbed the locational information Kyoko provided, she'll have to look it up on a map later to get a general idea.
When he circled back to the tour, Mitsuko hopped up to her feet. Ah yes, I can do that now if you'd like then we can finish the tour or vise versa, she stated while waving her hands around as she spoke. I mean, UA is huge, and I'm pretty sure we have the cafeteria, and where the bus stops are, and - she cut herself off the moment, he asked her about where she had lived.
Oh me? She spun around, giving the boy her full attention prior to answering, I've lived in Japan the longest, that's for sure. I've been to a lot of places around Europe. My father is in the military. We constantly moved when I was young. She waved off the fact of moving. It wasn't her favorite subject. It wasn't until I told my mom I was doing poorly in school did we come back and settle in. Mitsuko scratched at her chin then fiddled with her earrings, My dad doesn't live with us all the time. However, he visits pretty frequently. Or at least as frequent as he can.

Just take another step... "Lead the way, whichever direction is easier for the tour is fine; I can follow like a Boss!" Kyo chuckled and shrugged, keeping pace with the young woman and listening to her story.
"I can see how moving around so much would make school a challenge. Educational systems are different everywhere you go, not to mention expectations. I'm glad that you've finally settled down though... it uh... seems like you're happy here. And hey, now you're at an awesome hero school to boot!"
As they made their way back outside Kyo found himself feeling more and more relaxed, and it showed in the extra bounce to his step. For that matter, the occasional bounce became latching onto the next opportunity to hop on a side ledge and use it as a balance beam. This felt far more natural to him than just walking down the sidewalk. No matter how new the terrain, the muscle memory was always there; and one day, he would know the school with the same comfort and familiarity as his home back in Chicago, or his middle-school campus, or even the neighborhood around his Grandparent's house.
Despite Kyo's seemingly boundless physical energy, his willingness to talk -and more importantly listen- to Mitsuko never stopped.
"So, your Dad's in the military, and you're at UA's Hero Course. What about your Mom? What made you decided to follow this career path, instead of say following in your Dad's footsteps or something?"

first day
⤜a new student, a new friend⤛ Mitsuko smiled, and bowed her head to thank Kyoko for his kind words, Yea, I am aren't I? Well, so are you! her smile grew as she patted his shoulder. After they left the student lounge, Mitsuko found herself amused with Kyoko's balance. Watching him carefully, but also ensuring her quirk does not activate by staring too long.
She took Kyo back to the main building of UA, where the homerooms were and such. While going down a few different halls, Mitsuko took the time to answer his questions about her. My dad is in the Netherlands military. My mom is a civilian, mass emotion control doesn't exactly make for a hero quirk, she admitted, and my quirk is very similar to my mom's - but I don't override other's emotions with my own. Currently, I can just alter whomever's confidence.
Honestly, I didn't want to follow in either of their footsteps. I just like to help people - so why not be a hero? Mitsuko would even admit herself, her reasoning to become a hero is extremely simple. Plus with what her quirk really does, she may be better in therapy or as a motivational speaker. However, she really wanted to make a difference in the lives of many. They made a couple more turns before they reached the corridor that was needed. She pointed down the way. So essentially it's all the way down there. You can't miss it, there's large doors with windows and separate smaller training rooms for either 1v1 or solo practicing.
Mitsuko's green eyes met with Kyoko's blue ones for a split second, then she turned away to start heading towards the cafeteria. What about you? Are you following your parents' footsteps? You mentioned living with your grandparents - do you n- Mitsuko cut herself off, smacking herself in the forehead. Ughh, forget I said anything. You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. She shook her head before giving Kyoko a sympathetic smile.

Just take another step... "I think that wanting to help people is an admirable goal, and probably the best reason to want to be a hero. You're quirk sounds really fascinating actually, I'd love to hear more about it sometime, if you're ever up for it. I'll be honest, I'm not sure how secretive people are about that kind of thing."
He flashed her a grin as he made a mental note of the gym's location. Maybe Mitsu would be interested in training with him sometime? He could understand where she was coming from, it was easy to dismiss certain kinds of quirks as being suited -or not suited- to hero work. It was one of things his mother used to criticize constantly, not that she personally had that problem; but he could remember both of his parents going out of their way to encourage children they met on the streets who had such dreams, regardless of their quirk.
Mitsuko's question about his family, aborted or not, caused a bit of a stutter in his step and a sad smile that Kyoko didn't bother to try and hide. "It's okay, honest. I don't mind." And he didn't, really. While talking about his parents still brought along a pang of sadness, Kyo had eventually realized that talking about them was its own way of healing. Especially if he got to talking about all the things he loved about them, all the good they had done as heroes, or all the happy memories he had of them as parents.
"I live with my dad's parents now. Or at least I did before I moved here to the dorms. My parents were a Pro Hero duo based out of Chicago, where I grew up. A little over a year ago though there was a car accident, they didn't make it, and I was in pretty rough shape for a while. I remember being... surprised? I guess, when I found out. In hindsight, I think that some part of me thought they were indestructible. Which is crazy, when I think about it now, no matter how strong the person -even heroes- no one is invulnerable.
"They were great heroes though. Not the top of the rankings or anything, they focused more on keeping their patrol area safe and secure than they did high publicity stuff. They were our local heroes I guess. The kind of people who were just as enthusiastic about getting a cat down from a tree as they were stopping a bank robbery. It helped though, they patrolled one of the rougher areas of the city; and I think that knowing they cared made the people who lived there feel like they mattered, even if they weren't the wealthiest or most connected.
"I think that's the kind of hero I want to be. Someone who can focus more on the mission than the media, more on the people than the publicity. I know that they'd be happy to know I was here though; and I'm going to work hard to make them proud of me."

first day
⤜a new student, a new friend⤛ Mitsuko listened politely, and when it came to sharing about her quirk, she shrugged sheepishly. I don't necessarily care for hurting my friends... she paused, biting her bottom lip. After a brief pause, she continued, I don't just benefit them, but I can hurt the levels of self-confidence as well.
She rocked back and forth on her feet, allowing Kyoko to take in the surroundings before they would move on. Honestly, she wanted to smack herself, again, because she asked about his parents. She didn't, but she really wanted to. After he flashed her a sad smile and expressed it was alright, she didn't feel as bad as she did. Mitsuko just didn't want to drag out unhealed wounds if there were going to be any.
She listened carefully to Kyoko as he spoke about his parents. It left a twinge of pain in her heart, and she wanted to embrace her peer into a hug. But she kept herself firm until he was finished from talking. Honestly, he was right. No one was invulnerable, it just wasn't possible. When he moved on to the types of heroes his parents were, it brought a smile to her face. I think those are the best kind of heroes. The ones who focus more on the people than publicity.
Kyo talking about the kind of hero he wanted to be was how his parents were, made Mitsuko's bright smile soften into a smile of understanding. Well, if we work hard. We'll both be the heroes we strive to be. Ja? Mitsuko couldn't help but giggle a little.
