KAZUME ICHIDA You see the devil don't mean to be evil, he just regrettably forgets to exceed expectation. |

RUMOR/SECRET: | might have accidentally killed his grandma |
TLDR: Intelligent, selfish, smooth-talker, brutally capable at picking apart people and decimating them with their own flaws. He knows he’s the smartest person in the room and enjoys nothing more than proving it to everyone else. He is a bit of a lazy trashy bum, but craves challenge in his life to make his effort worthwhile and can be a bit of a sore loser. Despite his many flaws, he is an exceedingly loyal person and extremely protective for those who can't protect themselves, even if he might be a bit of a jerk about it.
Kaz is a compilation of a great many inconsistencies. He is both vain, proud, loyal, and also lazy to a severe fault. For the most part, he's a bit of a smooth talker with seemingly no lack for confidence. However, for all his external confidence, he's a severely insecure person at heart, struggling with a feeling of numbness and a lack of willpower. He is selfish and a jealous person that craves what other people have (a loving family, extreme fortune, etc). He enjoys picking qualities he likes from the people around him and creating well fabricated lies about himself (there are a hundred rumors about him, each one more ridiculous than the last). However, Kazume is awkward when it comes to being genuine, almost soft and naive when he has to express anything that isn't under the veil of a well-prepared lie or an angry outburst.
He is extremely intelligent, naturally so, though has shown little to no interest in actually paying attention during class. He’s the kid that falls asleep during class, but somehow manages to ace every test put in front of him. His grades are always at the top of the leader boards though (much to the anger of his classmates) he doesn't often appear to care where he shows up on the board (or so it seems, he’s actually quite competitive, but no one quite reaches his “standards”). Kaz is both impetuous and yet calculatingly studious. He enjoys puzzles, piecing together mysteries, riddles, and playing board games. He also shamelessly enjoys the feeling of being smarter than others, but can easily become bored by doing so.
Mostly he seeks a challenge, something that can really get his blood pumping and really make the effort of victory worthwhile. For all his apathy and laziness breathes someone that is competitive without measure and enjoys the feeling of being best and desires nothing more than to prove he isn't a waste of oxygen like his family is. He values intelligence and the ability to adapt and has little to no patience for "victims of circumstance" that aren't willing to fight tooth and nail to prove themselves. Being such a smart son of a bitch, he is exceptionally talented at discerning other people's flaws and weaknesses, and even quicker to use them to his own advantage. Despite desiring the life of a hero, Kaz can be a jerk and sometimes even blatantly immoral. He is blunt and opinionated and brutally quick to attack another person's flaws when he is made to feel at all vulnerable (even when their intentions are anything but malicious). He is exceptionally capable as decimating people on a personal level, often times without thought.
And what happens when he loses? When he finds he’s not the smartest person in the room or the strongest? Well let’s say he’s a bit of a sore loser (aka he loses his goddamn mind). He’s got a temper to him, but it’s a personally welcomed sort of anger, as he finds he so rarely cares that much to react in such a way. Heaven help you, though, if you’re the target of his rather irrational temper tantrums. Despite all of his many flaws (as many people likely wonder, why does this guy even wanna be a hero if his only reasoning is to help himself), Kaz is fiercely loyal and beneath his feelings of self-doubt, he is a kind person (a definite softy). He is very protective, especially of those who cant protect themselves, though he is a bit of a jerk about it (who will happily tell you to wo/man the fuck up). He dislikes bullies (though hypocritically he kinda is one, lets be real), though he would likely never be the type of person to go out of his way to purposefully make another person feel worthless (like he himself has always felt). He has very few friends and seeks even less people to confide in and open up to so when he does, he'll raze the fucking earth to keep them safe.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | osaka, japan |
PARENTS: | Mila Ichida née Köhler (mother), Akemi Ichida (father). Both Deceased. |
SIBLINGS: | None |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | None |
OTHER: | Yaga (grandmother monster) |
Kazume Ichida’s family were Nobodies. They had never made their ways into the history books. Hell, they had barely managed to worm their ways into the local gossip. There was something about it that Kazume had been incapable of comprehending. How they were so content at measuring less than most animals in the face of society. His family was poor to say the least, they weren’t particularly modest about it or kind. They handled poverty like trapped rat under a burning pot, digging through flesh and bone to survive, but never managing to free themselves from their prisons. There was something festering about his family, in the same way that meat does when it’s left in the sun. Welcoming their own stagnation with fettered disregard. Kaz was smart and that was his own destruction because he was capable of seeing through the ignorance of his family enough to want to be something or someone. Not even the desire to become a powerful hero or even a villain (or hell even a fucking accountant) but to at least be seen when he opened his mouth and heard when words came out. He had been the kid with the scraped knees and smudge of dirt on his cheeks. They had fed him in envy, they had birthed avarice and greed in their son without even bothering to open their eyes.
He was raised by his grandmother after his parents died— there was no news of their deaths, no one muttered words of mourning, there was no funeral— just a pair of holes in the backyard like deceased family pets. His grandmother—Yaga—was a ghoulish woman. With knobby knuckles and cockroach eyes. Who peered out at the world through shuttered windows and spoke only in hissing whispers to red-eyed rats. Strings of white hair fell from her scalp in patches, twisted down to her knees. Whenever she moved, the shadows seemed to creep along with her. Her singing would move through the walls, matching the vocals of the screeching insects outside. It was about this time that he stopped dreaming and that he stopped expecting greatness, but then later he got his chance to escape from it all. He's learned to survive the world by hiding all his self-doubts and insecurities behind well fabricated lies and making sure that he was smart and skilled enough to parry any obstacle in his path
Kaz made it into UA through a mixture of test scores and the sporadic destructiveness of his quirk (though at the time he'd had little to no control over it). From the very beginning, other's doubted his ability to be a hero, suggesting that he was far more suited to be a villain after several accidental incidents involving his quirk triggering due to his temper and almost blowing someone apart (no to mention his grandmother dying in a house fire). Kazume was the smartest kid in the room (and also the strangest), but found that if he was gonna fit in and excel, it meant learning some damn control. It didn't come easily. Every semester was excruciating in its own way, each day a lesson in modesty, but with growth he began to understand just how power it was to have pride in one's work. He wasn't sure if he was meant to become a hero, but he'd tried his damnedest to get there.

QUIRK & SKILLS
INCENDIARY
TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: C+
SUMMARY:
Incendiary is a combustion quirk that had set fire to Kazume's core when it manifested with such power that it had consumed him and resulted in the "tragedy" leading to his grandmother's death. Essentially, Kazume can increase the kinetic energy of atoms within his immediate proximity (up to 8ft at this time) causing them to ignite, increasing heat and friction to the point of combustion or even explosion (2 per every 3 posts), which is slightly less powerful than the average grenade with more force than outright damage and requires at minimum of 1 post charge time (each post spent charging resulting in a more powerful explosion). He can also manifest and generate flames from within, covering his body in flames and as such is immune to all heat, flame, and combustibles.
He can also use the ignition of his flames from his body to "fly" or at least charge ahead and maintain pretty decent air. He can average a good 593 Celsius or 1,100 Fahrenheit flame which is the equivalent of a lit match or house fire, but only for about 3-4 posts before the flames weaken and he is forced to "recharge" for another posts. This type of heat isn't enough to burn metals, but still causes significant damage and could easily destroy other materials (including flesh) if not tempered.
The heat of his flame at maximum can rise to 1,977 Celsius or 3,590 Fahrenheit which is the equivalent of a propane torch, which is hot enough to burn metal; however, he could only handle this kind of heat for a few seconds (one post) and any longer could severely damage his health.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
-Cannot affect the internal heat of a human being nor affect any of the heat outside of his little 8ft bubble.
-The ignition around him is not instantaneous and usually can be marked by a sudden increase in temperature, allowing people to flee the area before he ignites it.
-He can only ignite within 8ft of his person and beyond 10ft the flames on his body lose their potency the farther away from Kazume they get. Still within 10-15 feet they can still pack a punch and singe, making close combat almost impossible. However, the second his flames begin to lose heat, he is vulnerable.
-He can attempt to push his limitations (aka hold constant flame or push the temperature past his max) an additional 2 posts (total of about 6 posts) past that 4 post limit, but the strain on his body would likely lead to him blacking out or losing the immunity he holds to his flames, resulting in burns. Aka not really worth it.
-Water is obviously the greatest weakness of fire. If Kazume's flames are extinguished by water and he is doused, he cannot use his quirk for at least two posts. If continually drenched, his quirk is rendered useless, maybe good for a puff of steam. He can attempt to push this and his max flame can perhaps flare but not long enough to make it worth the consequences. Meaning its a lot of energy spent for a lot of useless steam.
-His temper greatly affects how his flames are controlled and directed, losing his temper during a fight could easily result in an ally getting hurt if his flames lash out or an sudden explosion redirects on them.

KNOW-IT-ALL
RANK/LEVEL: C+
SUMMARY:
Kaz is a bit of a smarty pants, its by far his most effective quality, even if it is weighed down by a hefty ego. He is extremely adept at picking out other people's weakness and using them against them. He is also exceptionally good at puzzles, games, and conducting strategies that can best use his quirk as it has such an extensive list of requirements to meet before it can even be used effectively. This allows him to come up with better thought out plans and (so to speak) getting a step ahead of the competition. Kaz also has a fairly good ability to memorize things he studies, its one of the reasons he makes such good grades.
HAND-TO-HAND
RANK/LEVEL: D+
SUMMARY:
He can hold himself in a fight, having spent a rather extensive using UA as a means to throw himself into every fight he can to get stronger. However, he's a far more talented brain than brawn, so he doesn't measure up there with the students that prioritize strength training.
