RUMOR/SECRET: | Villains fear the shadows of Musutafu. The shadows are alive and the tendrils of darkness creep out to catch the wrongdoers of the city because justice isn't always sugar-coated in white light. Justice is sometimes the claws of darkness. |
Mirai is a reserved woman, friendly and kind, but doesn’t actively go out of her way to talk to people. When she became a pro hero, she avoided the spotlight as much as possible, seeking to be a night-time hero. It was easier to just arrest villains than talk to people. She is a fantastic conversationalist, but hates being put on the spot. When asked to public speak, she clams up and stutters. Despite this, she will occasionally sass a villain she has defeated. While her speaking skills are lacking, Mirai possesses unwavering loyalty to those close to her. She will through herself in harms way just to see others safe. However, she is not reckless. Harms way sometimes entails her to run out, collect those in danger and then run away.

The dripping was maddening. Every drop on the tile floor was reality hitting the child in the face over and over again. She wasn’t even crying, which was probably the strangest part.
“Mama? Papa?” She whispered, putting her red-stained hands on the motionless figure before her, shaking it lightly. There was no reply.
The clock ticked off beat with the dripping. The room smelled like metal. Green eyes move over the figures in the room. Three of them lie motionless and the red overpowered every other color. The little girl had never seen so much red in her life. Time ticked away and lost all meaning within the blood-stained kitchen. The first golden rays of sunlight hit the windows and illuminated the room in a gruesome orange color.
The small girl sat back against a wall, staring at the people before her. Her eyes were blank and dark circles formed under her eyes. She doesn’t hear the pounding on the door, nor does she react when people enter. She didn’t know if they were pro heroes or paramedics… She didn’t know anything.
Except that her parents were dead.
“It was Bloodrazor who committed the murder.” One of the detectives had said.
“I thought he couldn’t be caught? Did they kill him?” A second had asked.
It sparked a discussion that the young Kaede didn’t want to hear.
Bloodrazor… the infamous serial killer of anyone who had a strength based quirk. His philosophy was that strength based quirks were the scourge of this world. People who think they can do anything because they have a bit of muscle.
“Papa doesn’t have super strength…” Kaede had muttered to herself.
But that didn’t matter to Bloodrazor. Shinji Jo was the reigning wrestling champion of the Tokyo region and was going on to claim the title for Japan. He wasn’t a hero… he didn’t have a strength quirk… he hardly ever used his quirk too… That was when the tears started. Kaede places her hands over her face and cries loudly into them, alerting the adults nearby. They all wrapped her in blankets and whispered sweet words to her and held her close, but nothing would heal the wound in her heart. There wasn’t even a person she could potentially get revenge on. Bloodrazor was dead now.
That was her mother’s quirk, Kaede knew. Ayame had reached out to grab the intruder after… Kaede closes her eyes and shakes her head, not wanting to think about that. There was just so much blood everywhere. There were no last words. No soft smiles. No head rubs from her father. No loving hugs from her mother. They were there one moment and gone the next.
“I want my mama and papa…” She sobs and holds onto the nearest adult, a woman with unruly curly hair, kept off her face in a ponytail.
“I know, darling.” She had whispered softly. “I know.” She comforted Kaede and rubbed her head soothingly.
This woman had stayed with Kaede until she fell asleep from exhaustion.
Three weeks later, after discovering there was no other family for her, that paramedic adopted Kaede. Telma Frey welcomed Kaede Jo into her family with open, loving arms. She was patient with the young girl and let her heal at her own pace. Her own son, however, was more than eager to have a new housemate. Even if she was “kind of a downer”.
He was a boy with the same color hair as his mother- red and fluffy. His wasn’t curly though, it was straight and two fox ears perked up above it. The mischievous fox boy had helped Kaede heal in ways no one was expecting. He related to her in a lot of ways, having lost his father in the line of duty.
It was only after three months that the two children became inseparable. Kit and Kaede went everywhere together as the most unlikely duo. He sat nearby while she attended gymnastics and she went with him when he had work at the animal shelters. They played instruments together in school; Kaede played the flute and he was a cellist.
“Pro hero?” Kaede had asked him. “That’s what you want to be?”
Twelve year old Kit nodded his head with a bright smile. “Yeah! Foxes are cool and people love them! I could give children a ride on my back!” He says, transforming into a fox to make a point.
Kaede couldn’t help but laugh at him. “I don’t know what I want to be.” she had replied. “I guess I should start thinking more about it.”
Transforming back, Kit smiles at his friend and step sister. “You're always think about the future, Mirai.” He says teasingly.
“Mirai?” She asks, looking back at him.
He ponders his word choice for a moment and then nods. “Catchy! I like it for you, Mirai.” He says and then runs off down the street towards home.
She looks after him and then smiles, running to catch up with him.
Three years later, the two of them were accepted into U.A. Kit had passed the physical exam with flying colors, while Kaede had barely scraped by. However, she made up for it in her quick wit and intellect. She wasn’t the smartest in the class, but she was a good strategist and figuring things out for herself.
In their third year, at seventeen, the sports festival was an eye-opening experience. Kaede, lovingly called Mirai by her peers, had baffled the crowd with how adept with using her quirk she was. She was resourceful, quick on her feet and didn’t rely on her quirk like some others. Her first year festival was a complete disaster which ended with her getting punched in the stomach and knocked into the concrete wall. She struggled with internships that year. Her third year, though, more than made up for it. In just two years time, she had improved her physical capabilities and wow’d the audience with her prowess. Mirai was invited to work part time at a Pro hero firm.
That was where she met Aki Uta. Aki was a man with the ability to track targets and teleport to them. He was a fantastic hand-to-hand fighter and a brilliant specialist. He talked to Mirai about the need for people like him. Heroes who didn’t excel in the spotlight, but thrived on the night. He taught Mirai everything he possibly could about being a pro hero.
Upon graduation, she had met her goal of becoming a pro hero and did solo work, just as Aki did in his prime. However, while she was working with Aki in school, she missed Kit goofing around and not doing his work. He never saw graduation; he had failed out of school.
Kit stares in disbelief at Mirai. “What?” He rasped. “Hero? You… I thought we were going to be partners! Pro heroes together, Mirai!”
“I wasn’t going to fail out of school with you!” She says exasperated. “Just reapply, do the last year and you’ll be fine.” She had told him.
“No.” He stated stubbornly. “If you went on and became a pro hero without me, then I’ll just have to be a pain in your ass!”
Mirai had rolled her eyes at this. “Oh what? And become a villain? Please be serious, Kit.” She walked off, not giving it anymore thought.
However, her first night on active duty, she was about to catch a criminal when a nearby food cart caught fire. Kit smiled at her from across the street as she tried to work to put the flames out. From then on out, it became a game to Kit. How much could he annoy Mirai before she finally snapped and went chasing after him. He acted as a villain under the alias of Kitsune and she became the underground pro hero Unlucky Charm.
It was difficult for her to get her bearings in the beginning, especially with Kit following her, but it wasn’t long before she started creating a name for herself.
Unlucky Charm, Musutafu’s Justice from the Shadows.
She moved into a modest apartment where she adopted two small kittens. Izanami and Izanagi were her companions and company where Kit was supposed to be. For the time, it would help. She did her work and every so often she would be called back to U.A. to teach a class or help with the sports festival. Those… were always unique experiences…
For now, Mirai stalked the streets in the shadows, seeking those whose goals are only to stir chaos. She would bring order.
------------------------Key Players:------------------------
Shinji Jo: Pro wrestler with the quirk of two massive tendrils on his mid back. He used them as extra limbs and would wrap them around his torso and arms during his matches. He was aiming for the championship title. Shinji was a genuinely happy man and wonderful family man. He prided himself on being the biggest and strongest man, but he never boasted or bragged. He was the sort of man to go out of his way to help others.
Ayame Jo: Elementary school teacher and loving mother and wife. She always wore gloves to cover her quirk. She could secrete a toxin from her palms that would cause her victims to experience suicidal thoughts and actions. When Bloodrazor entered her home and killed her husband, she had pressed her uncovered hands to his face, causing the villain to kill himself.
Bloodrazor: A villain who's skewed sense of philosophy led to the death of several people. He possessed a quirk that allowed him to use his blood as weapons. In addition, he could halt the movements of someone if they were unaware of his presence for a brief time. He believed anyone with a strength based quirk would only use that power for personal gain.
Telma Frey: England-born woman with the unique quirk to be able to meld into a pass through any natural substance. Her husband was a pro hero, but she had no desire to be such and instead became a paramedic. Her quirk was useful for house fires, collapsed buildings, mudslides and such. Telma was often called out for such rescue missions because of her versatility.
Kit Frey: Telma's goof-ball son who possessed the quirk "Fox". He has two fox ears on his head and a large fox tail. He is also able to transform into a large fox the size of a horse.
Aki Uta: The pro hero that helped Mirai and offered her an internship. He also invited her to work part time at his company while she was still in school. His quirk allowed him to track his targets and teleport to them.
“Mama? Papa?” She whispered, putting her red-stained hands on the motionless figure before her, shaking it lightly. There was no reply.

THE ARMORY
She wears two metal bracers on her wrists and hands. When she unlocks them, metal claws come out to the ends of her fingers. The claws are laced with a draught used to make her victims drowsy for a short time, long enough for her to catch them. She also has a special set of goggles which help her see in the dark, however, she is known to forget them. Often.
QUIRK & SKILLS
Shadow Stalker
TYPE: Mutation
RANK/LEVEL: B
SUMMARY:
Four tendrils protrude from her back, two coming off the shoulder blades and two on the lower back, just below the kidneys. They are fully within Mirai’s control and can be used as secondary limbs if she needs, allowing her to lift and carry more than her arms can. In addition, when hit with a tendril, the victim may experience doubt, paranoia, and uncertainty, making them more susceptible to mistakes. This affliction is typically more effective if the enemy doesn't know what she does or doesn't notice her, but there isn't a guarantee of it working. The affliction lasts up to twenty minutes(up to 4 posts), depending on how many tendrils the victim is hit by. Her footsteps are also quieter than an average person, even in heels or boots.
Each tendril can lift around 75lbs (34 kg) and 250lbs (114 kg) combined.
(Lower ranks are more likely to fall to her quirk)
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
The tendrils, while she can lift, carry and move a hefty amount, they are extra limbs and she has to keep using them and training to keep her strength up. In addition, if her enemy is aware of the doubt her tendrils cause, they are more likely to be able to overcome it or not be afflicted at all. Mirai is also not physically the strongest. She relies on quick, nimble movements. A good clout to the head or punch to the stomach can send her reeling.

Gymnast
RANK/LEVEL: A
SUMMARY:
Since she was young, Mirai had a love for dancing and moving. She loved running and stretching; a trait she got from her father. It translated to her taking gymnastics as a young child and sticking with it up until her high school graduation. While she had the opportunity to become a gymnast for a living, she turned it down in favor of being a pro-hero. Mirai is extremely flexible and nimble. While she no longer is on a team or takes lessons, she practices the motions four times a week and still goes for a three mile run every morning.
