At such an intimidating height, Jon doesn’t really strike much fear into the hearts of, well, anyone. Often mistaken for a primary school student, if one is willing to overlook the tattoos and piercings, they have learned to use it to their benefit with a slightly wounded pride. Jon has a boyish figure with well-toned muscles and nary a curve. What little they have in the chest area is done away with proper binders. A mish mash of races, predominantly Haitian Creole and French Iranian, they’ve got some vague European mixed in there to muddle everything to the point it’s hard to pinpoint exactly where they hail from. They have light brown skin, peppered with a few scars here and there, nothing to think twice about save for the obvious. Cancer in their youth took their right leg just above the knee and they have a small collection of different prosthetics they use, including ones for hero work. Jon looks younger than they really are with a cherub face made all the more obvious with round cheekbones, a smattering of freckles, Nubian nose and full lips.
They wear their hair in dreads and they often pull their hair back into a high ponytail or top bun. When unbound, the length falls just below their shoulder. Originally a deep brown, Jon habitually dyes it random colors but more often it’ll be green, their favorite color. Frequently faded with exposed roots, they’re too lazy to maintain it on a regular basis. They have the oddity of soft grey eyes thanks to their muddled lineage stemming from their mother’s side. Their eyes are big and wide, lending to their already youthful look and they have perfected the absolute innocent bystander look down to a T. They have little hands with short pudgy fingers and heavily chewed on nails. They lost the tip of their left ring finger in an accident using their ability and though it’s barely noticeable, Jon tends to keep it hidden. Jon has a few tattoos, a barcode on the back of their neck (It scans for a can of Del Monte peaches), a game controller port behind their left ear, two and a half filled red pixel hearts just below their left collarbone and a work in progress right sleeve of their favorite games, characters, anime, movies, everything a young teen will never regret when they’re in their 30’s. They’re heavily pierced with four in their earlobes, an industrial bar in their right, a daith in their left to help with migraines, a medusa, a septum piercing and a right snakebite.
Walks with a slight limp (Jon calls it swagger) and always seems to be sporting a bandage from a half healed injury. Often seen with a permanent grin in place, there’s always something making them laugh and smile. Easy going and laid back, it shows in the casual way Jon holds themself, nary a straight posture in sight. Their love of all things nerdy and geeky shines through with way too many t-shirts with awesome/horrible sayings and jeans they habitually draw on. They often fall back on wearing converse sneakers and their favorite green hoodie.

RUMOR/SECRET: | Jon peddles bootleg anime/manga, snacks and cheat sheets out of their locker like a makeshift haberdashery. |
If coffee, sugar and an energy drink had some sort of weird food orgy and produced a horror of an offspring, it wouldn’t even compare to Jon. They are, for lack of a better word, loud and obnoxious in the best way a teenager can be. Childishly ambitious and creative, reckless and gung ho but the ultimate couch potato and slob, creating this nice mishmash mess of every stereotypical thing you can think of a teenager. While experienced, Jon is young and still a little green to be out doing the hero thing but most days they’re scrambling to rub shoulders with fellow heroes and fighting the good fight. It gives them a sense of belonging and accomplishment, something they’ve struggled with their whole life, and they are ever at the ready to prove themself at any given time. Don’t challenge them to anything because they’ll do it. This includes trivial dares. Most of this stems from having an older sibling, but also for the simple fact so many people in their past have looked at their small stature and disability and concluded that they were incapable of anything relevant. Their natural affinity to rebel comes out full force and god help anyone in their way.
Jon is the biggest nerd you’ll probably ever meet. Their daily lexicon is littered with internet memes, television and movie references and way too many dick jokes to be comfortable with. They’re always down to talk geek and gush about their favorite obsession of the week be it a game, TV series or music. As the average person doesn’t live their life on the internet, sometimes it can be difficult to understand Jon and they aren’t keen to explain their random word vomit. They also have the habit of being easily distracted with their own thought process, juggling a barrage of ideas and intrusive thoughts that pop up midst speech and has been known to trail off unexpectedly before lurching into a different topic entirely. They are without a doubt, socially awkward but an extrovert, making for a bumbling interaction that’s one part cringe worthy, one part endearing. You know, if you tilt your head and squint a lot. They try their best. They have zero tact filter to their mouth, often blurting things out before thinking it through and even though they’re aware of it, Jon has done little to curb it. They expect others to do the same, no need to tiptoe around them. Lacking the finesse to close their mouth, the teen is all too eager to quip a wiseass remark or inappropriate joke to lighten the mood, induce groans or even better annoy present company. There are no one word answers for them, they have to tell a story to get to a result and it’s too easy to blur random inappropriateness and rudeness, Jon usually falling into the former.
They tend to jump into things headfirst with little regard for consequences and have a penchant for trouble, whether creating or adding to it and is not at all shy about it. Again, something they’re well aware of and why fix something that isn’t broken? This puts them on a dangerous path and more times than they’d care to tell have put them way over their head. Be it a back alley fight or a serious conversation about life, here their youngness really shines through. Suddenly everything’s not all sherry and giggles, forcing them to confront the reality of the situation and finally Jon will balk. When they’re not mentally or physically equipped, they’ll resort to their usual cheekiness, appearing shallow and selfish as if they don’t care, using their humor as an automatic defense. Truthfully, Jon has trouble dealing with mature matters, they have always had someone older to go to for help and comfort and often doesn’t feel like they can actually help. They’d prefer to pass on the whole growing up debacle and all the responsibilities associated with it. That’s not to say they don’t care, the kid’s got a much bigger heart than they let on and doesn’t always voice it. Jon may not always seem considerate of others, but what they lack in tact they make up for it in little actions. They’ve got a pair of great ears and shoulders to listen and cry on. Their anger is a slow burn, more adept to shrug things off but the rare times they do let their ire get the better of them, it quickly blows over. Jon is the one you want in your corner, they’ll fight tooth and nail for the little guy and while you’re laughing at the pintsized teen, they’ve reared back and kicked you sharply in the shins. For such a tiny thing, they’re fierce and loyal and what’s more scary than a tiny yippy Chihuahua ready to bite. Don’t actually answer that, Jon has their pride.
Still, Jon considers themself a fun person and always down to clown for a good time and despite any ill claimed bemoaning that they don’t want to live on this planet anymore, Jon doesn’t like to be alone. They spent too much of their childhood on their own and has delegated it boring and dumb and with a wistful sigh, way too lonely. Jon isn’t always dick jokes and puns, they have more low days than highs and tries their best to project a positive outlook. There are those few and far days where they are the biggest grouch to have ever grouched. Jon shows their love and affection by gently bullying their friends and family, their brother getting the brunt end of it. He’s the biggest contributing factor in how Jon sees the world around them and for all their faults and problems, their bro has been a great influence on their sense of justice, kindness, morals and how much they tip a meal. You can really tell a lot about a person and how they treat people in the service industry. When all’s said and done, big things come in small packages and Jon is a shinning example of the infamous quote.

Born in Toulouse, France in the wee early hours of April the First, Jon was a late addition to the Lafayette household. Their one and only brother Alex was already well into his twenties when Jon decided to join the family. Their parents, Emmanuel and Parisa; high tech mechanic and civil engineer respectfully, met when they were already in their early 30’s and both bored with their lifestyles and choices. Parisa was visiting Paris during a work related conference and to this day, she’ll tell you she can’t remember what it was exactly, only that she skipped out on it midway through to peruse the city life. She met Emmanuel at a bar, a typical bad boy and they hooked up in a whirlwind weekend consisting of drag racing, bar hoping, copious acts of debauchery and running from the local police. To top it all off, Emmanuel proved to be a bit of an enigmatic little minx and the dumb biker jock persona he projected was more or less a front. Granted, he was still all the nitty and gritty Parisa enjoyed, but he was also extremely brilliant with a love of Mechatronics. His parents were chemistry teachers turned librarians and he had been raised in a warm and nurturing environment.
It was love at first sight. Parisa never went back to her job on I Island, preemptively deciding that she and Emmanuel were destined for each other and thus started an odd friendship and romance. Their business came first, born out of their shared love of everything mechanical, it started out simple and nondescript, helping out a friend or two who needed a vehicle, a better engine for racing, fortified doors for protection, self inflating tires and it sort of spiraled out of control when word spread. Suddenly, Lafayette Garage was more than a simple mechanics garage and there were some rather large names dropping by to check out their designs. Names that have heavily redacted from all records in order to preserve their clientele anonymity and relations.
Alex arrived, planned when Parisa was nearing her 40th birthday. He was loved, cherished and encouraged to grow and when he toddled after his parent’s steps, both were ecstatic. Their business flourished over the next two decades, from a small time shop tucked away in a back alley Paris street to monopolizing the field and moving their shop to Toulouse to settle down. Lafayette became a household name and if you were interested in high tech vehicles, Lafayette was the way to go. They were fair but strict, top of the line work and when costumed individuals started becoming a thing, their business grew exponentially.
Parisa was 63 when she started having a severe case of the flu. It would come and go, usually in the mornings before clearing up. It lasted well over a month before she finally caved to see her doctor and came home with quite the incredible news. She was pregnant. Husband and son were cautiously optimistic and Parisa had an easy pregnancy and birth and the day tiny Joan-Baptiste was brought home, they had the entire family wrapped around their pudgy little finger.
From the get go, Jon had an exuberance and zest for life. Even as a toddler, they were overly rambunctious and raring to go, it was nigh impossible to keep them still and equally impossible to keep them out of the shop. After too many near mishaps and a few more grey hairs, Jon was carefully watched over and raised underfoot the mechanical family. They played with Barbie dolls, toy trucks and wrenches, putting each to sleep in dirty rags and thought nothing of it. Even at an early age, they knew they were different and no one blinked an eye when they asked to be called Jon. Pronouns came later with more understanding the older they got.
When they were old enough, Jon was enrolled in several prestigious elementary schools, several being the key word as Jon had a tendency to garner unexpected drama and attention, usually in the form of mostly harmless pranks. Pranks that included releasing their school’s prize show cattle, all fourteen of them, to let them wander freely on campus, filling every tuba player’s instrument with bubble solution right before a concert and their particular favorite gluing the vice principle to her office chair, requiring the intervention of an amused emergency fire crew.
Due to their parent’s age, Alex became a facet in Jon’s life helping to curb their overly zealous everything and helped focus their growing interests, finding like him that they were ready to be involved in the family business. Jon took after both parents, finding they enjoyed creating something from scratch, designing and building it to completion. Also like their folks, the child emulated their social activities and the lack of them. As happy and content as Jon was, forming lasting friendships seemed to elude the child. They never seemed bothered by it, comfortable sitting alone with their own doodles and work and the few times they interact with others, it resulted in a scuffle or two. The addition of a Quirk simply made life more interesting.
When Jon was ten they were sent home after getting into a fight with a schoolyard bully. Their uniform was torn and dirtied and they had a scraped knee and elbow but nothing could dim the kid’s pride. Not the three-day’s suspension or the following two weeks of detention. When prompted by their exacerbated parents, they exclaimed they got tired of a boy picking on others and stood up to him. Alex would never be more proud of his sibling, much to chagrin of their folks. This would be the catalyst to jumpstart Jon’s budding love in becoming a hero. A week later, Jon complained about their right knee being sore. It was chalked up to their little fight but when the pain persisted with a noticeable limp and fever for another week, their parents decided to take them to see the family doctor.
It was nearly a month of testing and shuttling back and forth between visits before Jon was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma. Found at the base of their femur just above their right knee and along their pelvis and hip, it had been an aggressive hit and a devastating revelation for the family. Chemo followed by radiation and eventually surgery saved Jon’s life and left them infertile. However, the threat of it returning would always hang over their head. It was a long and difficult road fraught with problems and heart skipping moments, usually by Jon and their affinity to wander. Even in a wheelchair and later crutches, their room and the rare occasion the hospital couldn’t contain them. They and a few other young patients stole away for the afternoon to the local arcade and returned to a hospital lockdown, panicked staff and angry parents. It would be one of the few times Jon felt a little bad.
Outfitted with a prosthetic, Jon made it a point to never slow down. They didn’t need to say how challenging things could be, relearning how to walk, physical therapy, working through the mental struggles, the countless nights they would break down and cry and be absolutely inconsolable until they could talk to their brother. Alex was their rock and the one to encourage them to follow their dreams of going to the UA School in Japan. It had been something they wanted to talk to their parents about for some time. Since they could walk, Jon was learning under the tutelage of their family, they could replace a head gasket in their sleep at the age of five, rebuild an ion battery from the ground up by the age of ten and by their teens, they could dismantle AFV in under five hours with nothing but a few hand tools of the trade and have it sold for spare parts before afternoon tea. But, it wasn’t what Jon wanted to do with their life.
During this time, Emmanuel and Parisa were looking to retire soon, nearing their eighties. Alex had been running the family business and was low key looking to expand and knowing his sibling’s desire to go to the UA, proposed the incentive of taking the Lafayette name to Japan where he could keep the business and give Jon the freedom to go to school while keeping an eye on them. It took a great deal of persuasion, some arguing and a thirty minute presentation complete with a slideshow and hand puppets on why Jon would take a great hero before their parents relented.
Jon missed the initial year by a hairsbreadth, but it gave them a year to buckle down on their Quirk and Alex made sure Jon had an outlet in the form of boxing. Not to say Jon was out of a shape, but Alex knew would give his sibling time to fine tune themself and get them physically ready for a grueling future. And by the time the new year enrollment opened up, Jon and Alex were comfortably living in Japan.
The first year of UA was for lack of a better word, hellish. A walking nightmare, it was the hardest they’d ever worked in their entire young life and they honestly thought they were going to die at least half a dozen times. But they didn’t. They survived and thrived and fought hard to make it against a lot of odds. The second and eventual third year were just as hard but at least Jon knew what they were in for. It never once wavered their resolve or dimmed their spark, pushing them closer to that finish line and with each day drawing closer, they look forward to the next step of their hero life.

THE ARMORY
Hero Suit: Jon keeps their suit simple and unflashy, preferring their Quirk to do the talking. Easily mistaken as street clothes, Jon wears form fitting, black pants with a little stretch (no need to be fighting a wedgie and crime), tailored to where their right knee would be to keep their prosthetic free of any material. A dark green, loose, long sleeved shirt they usually tuck it, though it often looks a size too large for them. A short bodied, black, leather jacket with thin sheets of one oz. steel are concealed in the lining of their jacket where it can be removed and used. A sturdy boot with amazing ankle support that is able to tackle all sorts of terrain. Thick, fingerless black, leather gloves edged in green. When in hero mode Jon uses their carbon fiber and titanium running blade prosthetic, there isn’t anything that sets it apart from what the public can get ahold of, though it’s been modified to deal with the wear and tear of hero work, making it hardier. It can be cannibalized for metal without compromising the structure by the added titanium plates along the socket.
Support Items: Jon has a few support items they’ve created and added to make a semi cohesive working party.
- Vambraces. Simplistic, steel vambraces with a snap locking mechanism are hidden under their long sleeves. These vambraces aren’t solely for protection but double as wrist crossbows, broken down into a clean design, looking more like a child’s slingshot than weapon. With a catch lever, they can snap up into place for Jon’s use and then easily fold back out of the way and concealed.
- Belt and Chest Harness. Wears a belt and chest harness under their jacket with a few pouches on it to house an assortment of metals they deem usable. On default, they have a dozen marbles of titanium tucked away. The pouches also house random metal liter they pick up in their daily life; nails, keys, washers, etc, but never more than a handful of scrap at a time. Jon carries their phone, a few basic first aid items and fast acting analgesics for headaches. The harness doubles as protective armor and counterbalance. Don’t call it a fanny pack or you’ll get kicked in the ankles.
- Quiver. The harness holds a simplistic quiver like, round container that rests just along their lower back, carting five clear cylindrical tubes. Each tube houses liquid metal in a soluble plastic ball akin to the size and texture of a thin water balloon. With a simple press of levers along the bottom of the quiver, Jon can cycle through tubes and dispense what they need. Each tube is labeled in braille, allowing Jon to grab what they need without looking. The tubes hold up to five balls each with four tubes dedicated to premades (Titanium Wrought, Lead Foot, etc) with the fifth generally containing blanks.
- Baton. A standard, regulation, telescoping baton, they keep tucked away on their left side.
- Jewelry. While not exactly support gear, Jon does change out their piercings for stainless steel.

QUIRK & SKILLS
HEAVY METAL
TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: C
SUMMARY: Upon contact, using as little as a single finger and using the iron in their blood as a conduit, Jon can commandeer and control the metal around them, liquidizing it into a viscous state where it can sit in a suspended state of animation or imbue the metal with a pre determined future shape that activates at their command. Without any binding, it retains a basic spherical shape; usually molded by Jon’s hands with a thick, syrupy consistency. Not entirely the most pleasant of feelings. In this stage, it’s a lot harder to manage. With the help of an outside encapsulation, Jon can create different metal balls that can be used. Once created, they will hold their intent indefinitely without too much strain. Whenever Jon’s Quirk is activated, their eyes take on more of a silver hue.
Titanium Wrought: Jon can create jutting structures, such as spikes/poles or steps/platforms that can be used as obstacles or lend as aid and fortify other objects and structures. They can take up to five feet of space and are made out of stronger metals to withstand the tensile strength required. Each individual part is able to hold up to 150 lbs. Individual sections are connected to a single point and does well when grouped together.
Lead Foot: When activated, Lead Foot bursts out into a watery solution, quickly filling a square foot area and can be anywhere from a few centimeters to half an inch thick, depending on the terrain. It maintains it’s liquid form, hardening the moment it comes into physical contact with a moving object, capturing and holding them like quicksand. The more you struggle, the harder it holds, creeping upwards the more it senses movements.
Ring of Steel: When tossed at a person or object, the metal bursts outward in a spider web pattern, wrapping around the object to connect to itself, creating restraints to immobilize or contain something. These do have a bit of give, allowing for a little wiggle and breathing room.
Silver Lining: When placed, it transforms into a 3x3 foot square wall ranging from an inch to three inches thick. They act as small walls and barriers for protection, able to withstand most natural physical and bladed attacks, low caliber bullets and when attacked by someone of their Quirk range or lower. Can be grouped together for bigger effects.
Iron Fist: A rough mix of Lead Foot and Silver Lining, Jon can smash a premade between their hands to coat them in metal in the design of form fitting, boxing gloves. They lend extra durability and strength to their punches, able to hit through a variety of material; glass, wood, brick and some other metals. They can be uses to block attacks; physical, bladed and low caliber bullets and when by someone of their Quirk range or lower.
An extension of their ability, Jon can corrode the metal they liquidize by speeding up the process of natural corrosion in a uniform surface, weakening or crumbling the structure and object. This includes anything metallic the ball is touching, acting as a bridge. Though it doesn’t have a name, Jon’s partial to Cadmium Bite and requires all five fingers to be touching.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS: Jon relies on outside, existing sources of metal and cannot create metal from their own body. While anyone naturally has iron in their blood, Jon cannot use someone else’s blood as a conduit or use the actual iron in their system, the amount is miniscule and unusable. Requires physical skin to metal contact for their Quirk to work. To prevent accidental corroding, Jon keeps at least one finger from touching anything metallic in nature. Corrosion can take anywhere from one to four posts, depending on the size of the object. Once activated, there’s no stopping the corrosion until the object has been consumed. The biggest thing they’ve corroded was a metal door.
Jon is better suited for long to medium distance combat. They need the time to create and control their metal and putting distance between them and an opponent is ideal. While Jon carries their liquid metal already prefab, they can create more should they run out. However, this takes a considerable amount of time, taking anywhere from two to five posts depending on the size of metal and what it needs to do. Size determines a lot and Jon often sticks to small, handheld sized balls and at max basketball sized, though if going bigger, Jon can only create a few before wearing themself out.
Unleashing all of their prefab balls at once in one spot is a terrible, awful, thing. Why are you even suggesting it? Do you have a death wish? Activating different balls close to one another tends to interfere and will cancel each other out in a twisted, pile of useless rubble. All of Jon’s constructs are susceptible to all the same elements of heat, cold, rust, etc. as normal metal is.
Titanium Wrought: These are often a bit of a gamble as they’re imbued with the same intent and the subtleties tend to get jumbled when it’s time to activate them. Which is why it’s best to stay clear of them until they’re fully created.
Lead Foot: Much like traditional quicksand, there is a way to get out it. If you keep calm, relax and move slowly, one can sacrifice footwear and clothing to slip out. The metal is usually very shallow and easy to spot, looking like a puddle of melted silver.
Ring of Steel: Much like chain, if one section is damaged, then the whole thing falls apart. They have a working load limit ranging from 100 to 350 lbs. depending on the size of the ring.
Silver Lining: They can take a continual assault of up to three posts max before breaking down. They’re unmovable, grafting to whatever surface they’re on and are extremely dense and heavy, making them nigh impossible for portability once activated.
Iron Fist: One of their weaker abilities, it can only be used once in a fight and usually reserved as back up should a fight ever be close combat. It’s highly susceptible to accidental corrosion. Can be done in one post but cannot be used till the next post without consequences. Using them in the same post leaves Jon with bloody and bruised knuckles and wrists. Worse case they’re either dislocate or break a finger due to any ill fitting. The added post allows micro adjustments to prevent this. When using Iron Fist, they have no dexterous use of their hands, the metal is solid and unyielding until Jon draws it back.
Magnets are Jon’s worst enemy. They don’t have a personal understanding as to why, but they muck up their concentration and it’s as if their brain is filled with static. There’s a distinct disconnect between them and their ability and the bigger the magnet, the more static there is to wade through. Prolonged exposure to powerful magnets and overtaxing their Quirk makes Jon susceptible to migraines. They usually last a day but it can be upwards of a week if it’s really bad. Migraines on their own are annoying and nasty and Jon has zero tolerance and control over their ability, benching them. They’ve tried in the past to work through it and it’s only resulted in prolonged migraines and bloody noses. They also suffer from low iron levels bordering on anemia, Jon takes supplements every morning, but their ability drains them quickly on the battlefield. Light, normal every day use is fine but prolonged use or in a fight leaves them heavily fatigued and weak, unable to physically keep going. Occasionally they have chest pain, dizziness and an extremely fast heartbeat and in extreme cases will pass out.
Jon’s a natural conduit for electricity and touching them is like dragging your feet along a carpet then grabbing a metal doorknob, it leaves for a surprising little jolt. It’s harmless, mostly, and whatever static shock Jon dishes out, they receive the same. They make it a point to stay indoors during storms, they’d rather not test just how much lightning is attracted to them. If an electricity based Quirk is unleashed within a 50 ft radius of Jon, it may be attracted/attack them instead of the intended target.
They suffer daily from phantom pains from their non-existent right leg and it ranges from a simple annoying itch to feeling like it’s being hacked off with a dull saw. It usually depends on how much they tax themself. A lot of walking around will feel like they’ve twisted their ankle, excess jumping or running feels like their knee joint is swollen, even the muscles in their residual limb will cramp and ache. They keep most of the pain at bay with a steady diet of over the counter pain pills (Along with the iron and vitamin pills they take in the morning) and physical therapy. Jon also deals with the basics of having a prosthetic limb, such as socket issues and irritation, poor alignment and over all general annoyances they’d rather not deal with.

MECHANIC
RANK/LEVEL: C -
SUMMARY: Growing up under mechanical engineering parents, Jon’s childhood was spent surrounded by robotics, machinists, thermodynamics and weapons engineering. Not officially schooled in any of the above, more off the books than anything, they learned straight from their parents at a young age and showed interest in it. They are also a decent mechanic for the average vehicle and occasional hero tech and can assist in the basics. A sizeable knowledge of mechanical tools from torque wrenches to breaker bars.
BOXING
RANK/LEVEL: C
SUMMARY: Jon has about a three years worth of classes under their belt, focusing on stances, guarding, movements and jabbing. They did shadow boxing and bag work and sparred with other students, Jon’s height and weight giving them a little trouble in placing. It helped tone them up to get in shape for schooling and gave them a nice step forward in self-defense. They kept up with it during their schooling, on the weekend and whenever they have free time they still practice with their brother.
LANGUAGES
RANK/LEVEL: C+
SUMMARY: French is their native language, English being their second and speaks it fluently with only a faint accent. They can rattle off French Sign Language (LSF) fairly well due to learning it for family members and has started on JSL as a side interest a few months ago. They have an abysmal tourists grasp of Spanish, but if you need to know colors and any number under 20, Jon’s got you covered.
