RUMOR/SECRET: | A villain by the name of "The Golden Clown" is his father. |
There's more than meets the eye in the case of Kogami Shibuya, but above else know that he's dynamic and companionably. Of course he's also aspiring, responsive and rational, but they're far less prominent, especially compared to impulses of being pretentious as well.
His dynamic nature though, this is what he's most well-liked for. People regularly count on this and his anticipate nature when they're in need of support.
Nobody's perfect of course and Kogami has a fair share of lesser days too. His maliciousness and vindictive nature do cause plenty of friction, both personally and for others. It only seems to happen around villains or even a mock-fight with him roleplaying as one or against one. Then again, he also likes to act and considers roleplaying as one of his time passing hobbies, which makes Kogami end up telling his partner to not take it so seriously if they think he gone off the deep end. Kogami actively seeks companionship in the event to have some kind of good karma to come his way if he tries hard.

Truth is, Kogami came about humble beginnings with the idea centered around him not being anything special. His mother worked for a hospital that not only treated heroes, but focused on giving treatment for illnesses and injuries that were caused by one's owns quirk. The idea was to make the treatment more personal to each individual, which made rehabilitation at that hospital quite popular as well. Some say that she was swept off her feet by a new patient that managed to get hurt in an unfortunate incident. They started a relationship, but when the patient's identity came into question, he disappeared. Inadvertently, there was also an abundance amount of cash left to his mother for the bills and extra for herself.
Soon after Kogami was born, some said that the manifestation of his quirk seemed a lot similar to a villain that shares some similar characteristics to what he could do. It didn't cause too much trouble for the family continuing, his mother marrying and Kogami having a stepfather and the like. However, that particular rumor caused him a lot of grief and he felt like being a hero could be the only way for him to learn how to use his power and learn more about himself.

THE ARMORY
Hero Suit (official):
Kogami wears a full body suit that is coupled with a helmet to go with it. The suit is woven with kevlar that can protect against low caliber bullets such as a handgun and has a moderate stab resistance. But that doesn't mean that its bullet proof, it's considered as bullet resistant at best. The suit also comes with an internal reader that measures his hazard level through his outfit changing color. It starts off white and it slowly changes to black. When the potency of his mercury increases to dangerous level, he needs to be rather careful with how he fights in the event that he could damage others in the process. Once it turns black, his quirk is at it's maximum capacity. This allows for a heightened performance of Kogami becoming even more dangerous than before, but the quality of his quirks toxicity would no longer discriminate. However, the suit gives him a moderate amount of control over his hazard level. This could allow him to keep it at half at the very least if it didn't take too much damage. This decision is mostly so that other innocents didn't get too caught up with the toxicity of his quirk.
Official hero suit
School days (hazard Prototype - Base Hazard level):
School Days (hazard prototype - Max Hazard Level):
Radio: This is something that Kogami uses to contact other students or heroes when he's not using his phone. It also has a police scanner in there to pick up distress signals for him to check out just for the hell of it.
Taser: A basic defense taser that's used to stun individuals that are shocked by them. The purpose of the taser itself is for Kogmai to add more versatility and allow for more humane ways to knock out a villain by using his mercury's conductivity. In his official hero suit, this serves as a taser battery that could conduct through mercury that hes in physical contact with.
Multipurpose Handle: A special handle that reinforces the stability of mercury constructs that Kogami projects upon it. He usually make a knife or a jitte, but the constructs are limited to Kogami's imagination. The durability is equal to kogami's current quirk rank

QUIRK & SKILLS
Mercury Man
TYPE: Mutation
RANK/LEVEL: D+ Rank
SUMMARY:
Inside of Kogami's body, he contains a couple of organs that result in the natural production of mercury. Mercury is a heavy, silvery-white, poisonous metallic element, and a good conductor of electricity. Mercury is the only metal that is liquid at standard conditions for temperature and pressure. Mercury does not react with most acids, but it dissolves many other metals such as gold and silver. The quirk itself makes him a little pale, as well as changing his hair to a white color. However, due to this being a natural biological function of his body, the high productive contents of mercury in his body doesn't have a negative impact on his health.
With how the mercury is executed, there is two common methods. The first is Kogami ejecting the mercury from his body through his pores and whatnot. The second is Kogami using the mercury vapor that's produced by the solid form in order to condense the particles and produce more mercury from the atmosphere that he naturally leaves behind with the use of his work. The control function of his quirk is based off of magnetic particles that's located around Kogami's brain stem. It allows him to use the magnetic properties to manipulate his produced mercury as an extension of his body.
Mercury Manipulation
As a result of this mutation, Kogami can manipulate the mercury that he produces in a variety of ways. He could either use it's natural liquid form to overwhelm and pummel his opponents, or temporarily solidify the mercury in order to make mercury constructs. In general, his attacks have a versatility that Kogami has access to. In length, height and width, the amount of mercury that Kogami can produce and manipulate at the time is two gallons worth at D + Rank. The length height and width of this manipulation is up to 20 feet. The force of a construct or basic manipulation of the quirk at this time is as strong as a typical person without a strength quirk.

Amalgamation
Kogami's mercury quirk can react to other metals and dissolve them. Most metals that Kogami's quirk comes in contact with can melt, causing it to also be a good counter to things like guns and the like. Amalgamation can melt Aluminum, copper, nickel, magnesium, bronze, steel, silver, and titanium. However, there are two limitations to this. The first is that this process only happens with materials that are within 10 feet of Kogami's mercury. The second is that Amalgamation is a focused target technique, once the intent to melt the specific target(s) is realized, there is a two post cooldown before Amalgamation can be used again. For clashing purposes such as metals that are derived from other quirks and the like or anything that has a rank to it, the rank has to be equal or lower of Kogami's mercury quirk for him to be able to melt it completely.
Hazard Level
Mercury Man's biggest quality is how it readily vaporizes into the air around it. With the longer he uses his quirk, the more buildup is gained, leading to other experiencing Mercury Poisoning through his vaporized mercury. Vaporized mercury can make its way into the rain, soil, and water, where it poses a risk to plants, animals, and humans. High related hazard levels changes his hair black at the very least.
The symptoms of mercury poisoning start to show after five posts of continued quirk usage. At this point, it's considered as half the hazard level and the inflicted start to experience varied symptoms. Physical tremors, memory problems, numbness, and anxiety attacks.
With ten posts of continued quirk usage with either no limiter or any way for Kogami to control his hazard level, the symptoms pile on and start to become extreme. They start to experience nasuea and vomiting, lack of motor skills, blurred vision, muffled hearing, difficulty breathing, walking, and standing straight. At this current level of his quirk, the hazard reaches as far as 30 feet.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
Iron
The one metal substance that Kogami's quirk cannot melt is iron. Iron cannot be dissolved by mercury.
Thermal Weaknesses
Kogami's quirk is unable to temporarily form a solid structure if under duress of a heat related quirk. Being under an extreme thermal temperature of cold or being frozen by an ice like quirk would affect the ability of it turning back to it's liquid form. This makes him unable to matter surf properly or even cover himself with his quirk.
Toxic Hazard/ Toxic Personality
Kogami's hazard level in regards to mercury poisoning does not discriminate, which could put everyone in danger. But that's not the only thing that changes, the increase of his hazard level also gives Kogami a hazardous change in his personality, making him rather negative, cynical, or even a little vicious at times. This other side of him doesn't have a name, but it's unfortunately apart of him all the same.

Alchemy
RANK/LEVEL: D
SUMMARY:
In order to fully understand his quirk, Kogami has been taking basic alchemy studies and things of that nature regarding the periodic table. His studies are simple for now, but his hopes is that he could use this to be a better hero. That and the fact that he would make for an awesome science partner. The higher understanding of his quirk allows for Kogami to make more complex techniques in regards to it.
Skill name: One-handed weapon combat (Jitte)
RANK/LEVEL: D
SUMMARY:
Since he has the tendency of using his handles to create one handed weapons of his choice, his universal skill of those choice weapons is something that he practices to develop a unique form of combat with it. The most common creations is a metal Jitte that Kogami can use his manipulate to change the nature of the tip. It can be blunt or sharp at his discretion, but the main reason for it was a non lethal alternative to a baton, along with his fascination with a weapon that was use by the police in Edo period Japan.
