Dreamer (Ai Ueda) [Vigilante]

THE BASICS

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Ai stands five feet, six inches tall with long bright red/orange hair. There are two wolf-like ears that sit atop her ears thanks to the quirk of her parents. She has a lithe build accentuating more fox-like features despite her heritage being Okami; this includes her bushy wolf-like tail. Her eyes are brown with accentuated red hues to them while her hair is bright orange. This hair color extends to both her ears and her tail except for the tips which are a stark white color. Her hair reaches far down her back while her front bangs remain short. When it comes to clothes, she prefers purples and light clothing that can breathe easily. When not in her vigilante outfit she always has a small bag strung around her neck that carries scented tea leaves; it helps to be an excuse for the sweet smell of her quirk if she uses it.

When it comes to her vigilante outfit, she wears a simple patterned cloak with a hood over her head with a leather white, red, and black wolf mask over her face. Click here to see the mask. Other forms of her vigilante outfit involve decorated kimonos, but the mask always stays. An example of such a kimono can be seen here.

When working at her bar, she always wears her normal pink shirt and black pants, but when leaving home she tends to wear her a purple shirt with a black vest and dress bottom. A red sash helps keep her shirt tucked underneath the dress itself. Even though these are her most likely outfits, she has many other outfits in her repertoire.

PERSONALITY

Ai Ueda is the epitome of what a mother is like the moment their kids are out of the home. When around Kagami or Akari Ueda, she is often easily seen as a motherly figure but this is all just a mirage. Deep down, Ai is still childish at heart, but an adult child at that. While she does run a bar, she is often found drinking and cavorting with her clientele in very energetic ways. Despite her drinking behaviour, she is a really clean person, keeping not only her bar spotless, but her outfits as well; very few people are as neat as she is even when drunk. The woman can be often called charming when behind the bar, being able to cheer up even some of her most depressed patrons; her bar is for happiness only.

Despite all of the good parts of her, she is often seen as careless in her behaviour both at work, and away from work. This often acts against her when acting as a vigilante. Ai has been known to take a more condemnatory stance when talking about villains or criminals, often times refusing to admit that they could ever have had any good to their actions going even so far as to condemn her own husband in every way shape and form, despite him saving her from a life of sin. While her quirk benefits from her flamboyant behaviour, everywhere else in her life it causes her problems as she tries her best to appear the best she can be without looking too gaudy in the process. Some people might even say that her behaviour is straight hedonistic, but in reality it is simply there to hide the more secretive side of her life.

BACKGROUND HISTORY

Ai Ueda was born to a small poor family known as the Tanakas. As of now, the primary branch of the Tanaka family is all but extinct, leaving behind Ai Ueda, and her several sisters whom she has lost contact with for several years; this is but the end of her story, but first we will start at the beginning; how Ai Ueda escaped a terrible fate.

Little Ai Tanaka was the eldest sibling of her family by mere minutes as she was born as part of a pair. Life was fine when it was just herself and her sister, Etsuko. Both of them had been born as their parents were born, as Ookami; humans with wolf ears and a wolf tail. A year after Ai and Etsuko were born, more siblings came; this time in sets of three. Den, Haruki, and Hoshi were born, and same as Ai and Etsuko, were also Ookami. By this time, her parents began to have severe troubles keeping all five of the kids fed including themselves, but they persevered. Little did they know that the parents began signing deals with various Yakuza gangs for money. A few years passed, and even more children were on the way; this time they were named Kagami, Junko, and Kiko; one of these siblings Ai would come to love more than all of her sisters. After this final birth, her mother passed away; Ai was only five years old at the time, and didn't understand the significance of what happened.

Now her father was raising herself all alone, with 7 other children. Around this time Ai and Etsuko had to handle the job of being the motherly figure to their siblings, with each taking a set of three as their own. Ai took the three youngest under her wing while her sister took the older trio. By the time she was 9 years old, she had mastered taking care of her siblings, taking much stress off of her father who was practically never home, working multiple jobs just to keep the family fed. Around this time, Ai and Kagami were inseperable. Life continued as normal, until Ai was 12 years old when a Yakuza member showed up at their home; their father hadn't paid the protection rights, and they were in such a poor part of town that the place was run more by the Yakuza than by the police themselves. If Etsuko had been home with Den, Haruki, and Hoshi, they would have been taken, but they had been warned by their father to flee from home; Ai had not been warned. Being forcibly removed from their household it had been left barren for the lone father to return home; he took his life shortly after for the deal he had struck.

Now being raised within a Yakuza clan, Ai and her three youngest siblings were raised to be model women. Transferring to a different school, Ai was seperated from Kagami, Junko, and Kiko which caused a severe bout of depression early in life, but she persevered in her training as she knew she would see Kagami again someday; that day never happened. Kagami, Junko, and Kiko escaped with the help of Etsuko and the rest of their siblings, but Ai was nowhere to be found. By this time, Ai was 15 years old. Graduating early and at the top of her class in normal school, and on her 17th birthday the Yakuza gang that had stolen her was brutally murdered overnight. Cowering in fear, she fainted before even seeing the man who did such a thing.

Later on, she woke up in a large home. It was strange to her, there was light everywhere, windows. It was then she would meet her future husband; Kichirou Ueda. Unknown to her then, and unknown to her even now was the mans intentions for her, but he allowed her to live at his home as his personal secretary; perhaps it was her trained grace that caught his eye, or perhaps he was simply into women with wolf quirks. During this time, the man seemed to show an interest in Ai's quirk. At first this it was noticed that the world around Ai seemed much nicer, but Kichirou was the first person to catch on to the sweet smell that hit him every time he came near; to him it smelled of the perfect blood. With his tutelage, Ai would master her quirk, discovering that not only did it produce that sweet scent, but it allowed her to create several illusions at a time.

A year had passed, and Ai was nearly always using her quirk inside the home for fun as each day she was congratulated by Kichirou, and soon he would profess his love to her, much to Ai's surprise. They hadn't even been dating, and she had just turned 17; she knew this would be a blemish on the actors career, but he had done everything for her. Still, this too is unknown to her. On her 18th birthday, the two were set to wed; and soon, she was pregnant with not one, but two children. Life was kind, Ai was the happiest woman alive so long as Kichirou was there, and even more so with her prospected children. However this happiness would not last; the roughest part of pregnancy hit her the hardest, the hormonal stages. She missed her family, she missed her sisters. All of them had been taken from her without ever being able to say goodbye. Searching the internet thoroughly, she hunted for her family; this was when she learned of her fathers suicide. Devastated, she looked further and further. Some of her family had moved to America, others to various parts of the world, some were still in Japan but very far from Tokyo but one stood out, one crushed her soul the most. Her beloved sister, Kagami Tanaka, had been murdered in cold blood; she had been murdered the night they escaped, and was the only sister to have done so. The yakuza group she was with was so good at keeping information away from her, that she hadn't learned until several years later.

She had to put on a happy face for her family however, and she made sure to raise her two children properly; and their names were easy to choose. The first twin she named Kagami, after her long lost sister and Akari, named by her father. Kichirou had insisted naming both children originally, but with the meaning of the name 'Kagami' and how the first twin appeared, the father agreed not knowing the hidden reason. Of the two children, Kagami was certainly the quietest of the two, and it became more and more apparant that not only their appearances were dominant in the two kids, but their personalities as well. Kagami seemed like the spitting image of her father, while Akari bore striking resemble to Ai herself. Life was perfect, school went smoothly, all until when the kids were in middle school.

The major villain that had murdered the yakuza clan that practically imprisoned her had struck again as he had done many times the past few years. Something was different this time, this time they got a picture of the man's face. Shock overtook Ai's entire persona as she learned that it was her husband that had murdered the entire yakuza clan she was held by. It was her husband that was the sinister villain known as Bad Blood. All she wanted was a happy life for her kids, but Kichirou had ruined that chance. She would not accept this man for who he used to be; that man never existed; Ai shattered. No more could she smile; no more could she love. The woman's heart was broken, it was destroyed. With the loss of Kichirou it came down to her to take care of two kids by herself; a woman who barely worked a day in her life but as a criminals secretary, before being a stay at home mother. Luckily, the man left behind quite a large amount of money to give them enough time to stabilize; most of which would be spent escaping the hell that was Tokyo.

It was hell, after all. Everyone knew who they were. Ai was the wife of Bad Blood. The only one of the family that was spared this scorn was Akari, who only resembled Ai. Knowing that they couldn't keep living in Tokyo, Ai decided to move the entire family to the small town of Shirakawa, earning herself a job as a waitress and part-time bartender at a nearby bar. Still being stressed beyond belief, she had several mental breakdowns between times at work, being kept as much a secret from everyone as she could; the people in this town didn't know who they were as she actively denied any relation to the main branch of Uedas that Kichirou was a part of. Over time, Ai started to enjoy life again, but her smile had not recovered yet. Her job at the bar was better than ever, but Kagami still looked like her father, forcing back repressed memories that Ai did not want to remember.

A year would pass by, and Ai would begin seeking other forms of happiness. Her kids were old enough that they could handle themselves, so Ai would simply give them an allowance and let them go on their merry way; freedom was something she made sure Kagami and Akari had an abundance of. During this time Ai tried several different methods of finding inner peace. First, was poetry. If she perfected her state of mind, then she would eventually find peace. This did not work. Second, she tried painting; once more a failed pursuit of happiness. Third, she tried martial arts. This stuck the longest, so long in fact that a full year had passed by. Both of her daughters by now had left the home; both were schooling back in Tokyo. Ai had been looking for a reason to move back, hoping that the people there forgot who she was. Judging by the communication she had with Akari however, Bad Blood had almost been fully forgotten.

With the money she managed to save, she purchased a small bar with an upstairs bedroom on the outskirts of Tokyo, just far enough that she was still within travel range of her daughters, but not so that it was easy. This kept the bar and house cheap. While the bar isn't too profitable, Ai made sure that she would be around to help care for her children; which luckily for her neither needed too much caring. Now, Ai spends most of her days drinking in her own bar, partying with the regulars in her neighbourhood; after all, they keep the lights on. If only this was all she did.

The region she moved in to often had issues with quirk related crime. Ai despised it. Kagami was growing herself into being a pro hero, choosing UA as her school and actually getting in; mother was so proud of her in doing so but the job was dangerous. She would do what she could to make sure Kagami never needed to go to her region to stop crime. Using the time she practised her quirk with Kichirou, and the martial arts she had learned trying to find her own inner peace, she roams the less populated areas of Tokyo, taking down various yakuza gangs half-way through their crimes while actively getting in the way of villains with mirages so that the heroes had time to arrive.

THE ARMORY

Okami Mask: This mask is made of cured leather, dyed white, and then painted with various streaks. It was made by someone she met online; if only she knew what it was really being used for.
Tactical Kimono: This kimono looks and behaves completely normal; except that it seems to have excessive amounts of small pockets hidden in folds here and there.
Vigilante Gear: Bags of steel marbles, smoke bomb fireworks, reinforced steel fan. Each of these serve a purpose in her arsenal; the marbles to trip people, the smoke bombs for easy getaway, and the reinforced steel fan can be quite painful when used as a bludgeoning tool.
Flask: The standard flask that every alcoholic owns.
Scented Bag: A small bag dangling by a simple string. Sits around Ai's neck, smells nice and sweet from the tea leaves located within. Used as an excuse for her quirk.

OKAMI MIRAGE

TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: B
SUMMARY:
Okami Mirage is also simply called Mirage and allows the user to formulate illusions in the world around them and upon doing so produce pheromones that propagate these forged illusions to those who breathe in these pheromones. These pheromones smell like an extremely sweet substance, like honey, maple syrup, or spun sugar for only a few seconds upon being smelled before quickly becoming odourless as the mirages themselves begin to activate. Any illusion created by Ai Ueda lasts indefinately until Ai Ueda stops creating them; this means that she must actively be creating a Mirage for it to stay active for any period of time. To create a mirage at a location, it must be within sight of Ai. The illusions themselves are almost always crystal clear unless the illusion was created near the edge of Ai's range.

Currently, Ai can have up 5 mirages created at any one point in time. Each of these Mirages can create sound, temperature, visualization, taste; basically every single thing a human can perceive except for physical touch. To create an illusion that has a texture to it, as in can be touched, she has to use 2 of her mirages to create this effect. When a mirage has the ability to 'touch' it can only come in contact with things under the effect of her pheromones, and they still are unable to interact with the world around them. In the sense of the mirage, the sense of touch means that the affected can feel the other mirage. When they push on the mirage, it moves with little effort but creates the feeling that effort is being made to move it. When it pushes against the being, they can feel it's touch and that it is trying to move them but doesn't actually have any force behind it; everything is purely done through one's somatosense. Currently there is no limit to what Ai can create, but the more complex the mirage, the more concentration will be required to make it look as perfect as possible.

The pheromones extend from Ai's body up to 10 meters the first post it is active, and then extends by 5 more meters each following post up to a maximum of 20 meters.


WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
While there aren't any duration based drawbacks of the quirk itself, for a mirage to have any feeling of touch Ai needs to visibly see the mirage and the person it is interacting with, and creating multiple realistic mirages is extremely taxing on her mind. If she has a realistic mirage created for longer than 5 posts, she receives a severe headache which diminishes the quality of the rest of her mirages, making it exceedingly easy to figure out that they are fake. If Ai is drunk, any mirages she creates appear warped, as if the viewer themselves were drunk, and they too will often appear drunk. Anyone outside of Ai's pheromones are unable to interact with the illusions, but the illusions may act as though they can see those that are unaffected. Each illusion behaves as Ai wants it to behave, but this also means that if there is someone that Ai can not see, or Ai does not know the location of, the mirages will be unable to react to them; their reactions are based on what Ai herself can react to.

Another limitation is that if anyone knows the alert mechanism of her quirk, being that extremely sweet smell, they would know immediately that they are under the effects of the quirk and would know not to trust what they see or hear as any of it could be false.

When it comes to the effects of this quirk, it is up to the PC to determine if, and how this quirk affects them but to exercise reason when doing so.

SUMMARY:
When Ai was taken from her family she was trained to be as graceful as possible. This mostly helped center her core but had many side affects. She has an uncanny ability to land safely and recover from near any accident. Falling over? Merely a pirouette. Tripping? Not at all, just a minor skip. Everything she does throughout her life now is so graceful, people often forget that she is essentially a commoner when it comes to social hierarchy.

SUMMARY:
Through a few years of training her already sharpened mind and body, she learned tactics that would allow one of such frame as hers to defeat even the most aware of foes. Skilled in stealth based combat and the art of surprise, Ai is able to retrieve tools from her repertoire and then utilize them effectively in combat before their opponent can even react. Alongside this training, she has learned to defend herself without weapons, focusing on strikes designed to sneak around an opponents defenses while keeping herself as safe and nimble as possible.

SUMMARY:
Ai is an experienced mixer of alcoholic drinks. Gained from her time working as a bartender and a waitress, this ability helps her design her own drinking menu that is the reason why many of her regulars keep on coming back.

SUMMARY:
Being able to utilize one's tools isn't just the only skill of someone who practices ninjutsu; Accuracy is still heavily important. If one is able to utilize their tools, but unable to hit their target, they might as well have never used that tool in the first place. Whether she is aiming to take someone down quickly, or aiming to strike a bell from across the room to make noise, Ai makes sure that she hits all the shots she takes; most of them anyways, nobody is perfect.

SUMMARY:
Another ability gained from a combination of both her Grace, and her training in martial arts Ai has gained the ability to travel at exceptional speeds through urban environments, using various objects to vault herself higher and further than normally able to. In combat, this allows Ai exceptional mobility around her surroundings.
