RUMOR/SECRET: | She's a vegan. |
If there is one thing Akari is good at, it's being loud. Not the bad kind of loud, but energetic. Much unlike her sister, she enjoys being the center of attention. It's not that hard, after all. She's naturally charismatic, giving her an advantage in making friends and getting people to like her. As such, it's easy for her to hop right into the middle of a conversation and know exactly what to say and how to say it. She'll fit right in.
In line with her natural ability to jump in to about any conversation, Akari finds herself jumping into about any situation as well. She's bold and adventurous and will do just about anything if you ask her to. It helps to be a bit of an adrenaline junkie as well. But whatever she does, she does so by trying to make her sister and mother worry significantly less than they normally would. But they don't need to know the extent of it all, right? Besides, she can't help it. She has an inherent need to chase things.
While she may be loud, in your face, and no stranger to possibly putting herself in danger too much, she does have a bit of a sentimental side. Akari has an emotional control problem. Coupled with feelings of love for her family, and she suddenly becomes much more submissive and tender around them. It may seem a bit excessive to the outside viewer, but it isn't really new for Kagami or Ai. She does have a tendency to bring them back random gifts as well, whether she'd think they would like them or not. Akari is also a bit overprotective of her loved ones. One would say possessive, even. But that's just obvious. Gotta be territorial, its in her nature.
She can be a bit smug. A little showboat-y at times, but Akari just likes to flaunt her accomplishments. It's really easy being boastful. At times, she can be nonchalant, overly relaxed and calm. Mostly after naps is when she tends to be at her most chill.
Despite her easygoing personality, she does have an issue with controlling her emotions. It's not unusual for her to confront a situation aggressively. But she doesn't like to admit that she's hotheaded.
BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | Tokyo |
PARENTS: | Kichirou Ueda (Father), Ai Ueda (Mother) |
SIBLINGS: | Kagami Ueda |

Akari and her twin sister Kagami, born to Ai and Kichirou Ueda, entered the world as basically clones of their parents (as all children do). While she enjoyed spending time with her father, she preferred spending her days attached to her mother at the hip. Luckily this was easy, as Ai was a stay-at-home mom, while her father was busy with his successful acting career.
She was rambunctious and playful, which definitely set her apart from her sister Kagami. She would spend hours running around, jumping over random things, rolling around until she got exhausted and passed out where she stood. Not that she really had anything to worry about, after all. The ultimate challenge for her was getting Kagami to join.
Once the sisters were finally able to enroll in school, Akari quickly gained friends. A lot of friends, actually. Nearly half the class was on Akari's "BEST FRIEND LIST". They didn't feel the same about Kagami. She quickly took the helm of being the protective and valiant older sister, if only by seconds, and vehemently defended her sister at all costs. It took a few years, but Akari had managed to quell the beast.
And in time, she managed to gain more social standing, climbing the top of her classes social ladder to Queen Bee of her class. Almost like an alpha leading the pack! Akari enjoyed the attention, feeling satisfied whenever someone would just glance and smile at her in the hallway.
As it grew closer to the time her quick would manifest, she grew enamored with the idea of being a pro hero and would pester her parents about it nonstop. Throwing out hero names for a quirk that she didn't even know, pulling her sister into games of "heroes and villains", crying until her mother turned on the news just in case there might be a showdown going on.
And when her quirk finally developed, Akari wasn't even sure what was going on. It was incredibly painful, and she was very disoriented. She and Kagami were playing a very intense game of "heroes and villains", and her sister seemed to be winning. Akari got frustrated, angry that she wasn't winning. She's supposed to be the hero, after all! Villains can't win! She felt the tantrum grow within her, and an intense pain ran through her. Almost as if her bones were breaking. Akari felt her vision blackout for what felt like hours, and when she came to, Kagami was standing over her. She tried to talk, but the only thing that escaped her mouth was whines.
Akari can't remember much of what happened after that. Only that she spent about a day and a half in her new body, before transforming back, which also hurt significantly.
She went to school, after missing a few days, excited to show everyone her new quirk. It still hurt a lot, unfortunately, but she had finally developed a quirk! Akari saw herself in the mirror and didn't even recognize herself. Expected, as she was staring at the reflection of a small red-tinted wolf pup. Kagami still hadn't developed her quirk, but Akari spent a lot of time trying to convince her that it would come eventually.
Akari's love for heroes only grew with time. Infatuated with the idea of becoming the top hero, she dedicated her time to studying their ways. This usually involved tuning into the news every single day. On one particular day, a villain by the name of Bad Blood was making national headlines. And it was her father.
She was devastated, but she couldn't pull herself away from the television. She didn't sleep at all that night. The next day at school, it was like everything had been flipped around on her. While she had been highly regarded by her peers, they now looked at her in fear of what she could become. There was no way that she could even protect Kagami from any further bullying now. She tried but to no avail.
Eventually, Akari began to shut herself away in her room whenever she could. She withdrew, becoming more and more distant to her usual boisterous self. With her mother, Akari and Kagami moved to Shirakawa. It wasn't until months and months after the move that she was able to transition back into her normal self. She had basically blacked out her father from her memory entirely. She had spent months adjusting to a new school with new faces, which was easy enough, although in the back of her mind she was worried.
She began to lead the life she led back in Tokyo. Just like she wanted. Super popular, energetic, and friends with basically everyone. Taking the time to get used to transforming was also necessary, and since they were out of the city, it was much easier. She even decided to go hunting a few times. Had to do something fun while Kagami was mysteriously disappearing.
Her quirk developed more over the years, allowing her to use it much more frequently and efficiently. It was about time for her to decide on a school for pro hero training. UA was an option, but Akari enjoyed the aspects of Seiai much more. She passed the entrance exam by the skin of her teeth. Turns out, Kagami had been accepted to UA Academy. The two sisters moved to Tokyo, albeit for different yet similar reasons, and began their new lives.
Akari's time at Seiai was short-lived, as she found it much more uptight than she expected. She looked into transferring to UA. She knew Kagami was there, but would Kagami really enjoy being in the same class as her sister? Who knows. Her transfer was approved, all she had to do now was just show up. The Wolf Hero, Dire, is ready to train!

QUIRK & SKILLS
FULL MOON
TYPE: Transformation
RANK/LEVEL: D
SUMMARY:
This quirk allows the user to take the form of a wolf. When in the wolf form, it gives the user the same set of abilities as a wolf. Increased physical strength and speed, enhanced senses, and water-resistant fur. The user is able to use their claws and teeth as weapons, spouting a much stronger jaw strength than that of a normal human or dog. The normal bite force for a user at this rank would be around 350 pounds of pressure. If protecting themself or in danger, bite force would be around 1k pounds of pressure. The bite force normally and in danger would be enough to crush bone. The strength of a wolf's jaws makes it possible to bite through a moose femur in six to eight bites.
The longer the user is in wolf form, the longer the cooldown is. Every 20 minutes (6 consecutive posts) of being in wolf form, requires 5 minutes (2 consecutive posts) of cooldown in-between transformation.
In wolf form, the current size of the user would be 53in in length (134cm) from nose to tip of the tail, and 32in (81cm) in shoulder height. The user's current weight is 120lb (54kg).
The legs of the wolf are longer than other canids, which allows the user to move faster. The usual pace for a wolf would be loping, and the gait can be maintained for up to 5 hours going 5mph, allowing the user to cover great distances. Depending on the terrain, they can achieve anywhere from 5mph to 30mph. The user is also able to leap up to 10ft (3m) horizontally, and is able to stay in pursuit of a target for up to 20 minutes (6 posts) at its fastest speed.
Compared to most hunting dog breeds, the users sense of smell is weaker, but still stronger than the average human. They are only able to detect scents downwind, no farther than 1 mile (1.5km). The user can hear up to 25 kHz.
The user has a special light-reflecting surface behind their retina in wolf form, called the tapetum lucidum. This allows their eyes to glow in the dark, and is used for night vision.
The user is able to consume up to 20 pounds of food in one sitting, and is able to successfully eat raw meat in both human and wolf form.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
Other than the natural weaknesses of a wolf (hand to hand combat, guns, etc.) there are a few more that can debilitate the user. The transformation to and from wolf form causes the user's body to grow sore, as it changes her bone structure during transformation. This causes initial pain during the first few moments, but as the user is usually running off of adrenaline, the pain is seemingly lessened. Not always the case, and the user may be vulnerable during the first few minutes (1-2 posts) after transforming while they are adjusting. The more time spent in wolf form will have an increased chance of causing the user to become bedridden until their body grows used to being in human form again. At most, the user can spend 20 minutes (6 consecutive posts) in wolf form without needing to rest for a long period of time. Anything over 6 posts would require extensive recovery, and leave the user incapacitated for upwards of 5 posts.
Personally, for this particular user, emotion plays a big part in the transformation process. If the user is extremely angry, excited, happy, it may cause them to transform at inopportune times.
While the users senses are heightened, that also leaves them susceptible to bad smells and shrill noises. Things like dog whistles and other high-pitched frequencies cause irritation. Smells like citrus, vinegar, cleaning products, and nail polish are a few things that can irritate the users nose.
The user's kryptonite? Chocolate. Consumption of chocolate will knock the user out of wolf form and cause them to become violently ill. Other foods that can cause this effect are cinnamon, onions, cherries, grapes, ice cream, and macademia nuts. Eating any of these in wolf form will have the same effect as chocolate, and eating any of them in large quantities can cause fever, disorientation, and lethargy. This also carries over in human form, although it causes a much mild sickness, usually only equivalent to a common stomach bug.
