Contrary to popular belief Michi's hair is in fact a deep shade of blue the hue so dark that it is often mistaken as pitch black unless the light hits it just right to bring out its natural tones. To her eternal gratitude she was blessed with straight as a board locks that make maintenance a breeze, though she prefers to keep it kept short for simplicity’s sake, her bangs are usually kept trimmed in a traditional 'hime' cut. On a day to day basis she prefers to keep it down, only bothering to pull it back in any sort of style when the mood happens to strike her.
Her almond shaped eyes are modest shade of grey and framed by thick black lashes that she further accentuates with the frequent use of mascara and eyeliner. However, upon activation of her quirk they transform into a tumultuous kaleidoscope of swirling colors, this physical change is the only indication that she is currently making use of her ability.
As she generally doesn't spend much of her time outside, aside from daily commutes, her skin tone is fair and perhaps a bit on the paler side. Coupled with having followed a rigorous skin care regime since her early teens, Michi (much to her eternal satisfaction) maintains an even complexion without the added help of foundation or other cosmetics.
Having a tall frame with seemingly endless legs - uncommon amongst her full-blooded Japanese fellows and inherited from her American father - often means she towers over the typically shorter women and even some men. Especially so if she wears any kind of heel. This combined with a strict calorie counted diet means she stays on the slender side, which due to her height can at times give her an almost waifish appearance.
When it comes to personal style, Michi leans more towards current fashion trends and styles, though generally nothing overtly formal. She both enjoys and strives to always look her best even if that means sacrificing a bit of personal comfort. How she looks is one of the few things she is fully in control of and she'd be damned if she willingly let someone see her at anything less than what she considers perfect.
PERSONALITY
LIKES Anything mint chocolate flavored. Her cat. When it rains at night. Taking long baths. | DISLIKES Sweat. Either on her or others. Ew.People who aren't honest about their intentions. Surprises. Of any kind. Those who try and pry into her life. |
SECRET: | She actually loaths her quirk and the insecurities it brings, and shamefully uses it to verify just how someone actually feels rathering than taking their word for it. |
Out of all the possible labels or words available to describe a person, the one that Michi gets most often is simply bitch. She is fully aware that often she has a less than stellar outlook on life, and quite frankly just doesn't care. Her life has gone to hell in a hand basket as far as she's concerned, and she is by no means going to pretend otherwise. She's got a lot of anger, and a lot of baggage weighing on her shoulders and for her it’s a lot easier to just get pissed off rather than succumb to depression or despair.
Unsurprisingly trust is not something that comes naturally to her. Paranoia reigns rampant in her veins, and she believes that there is always an ulterior motive. Nothing is given without something being taken in return. And so Michi is greedy, a glass that is never full. She takes and takes to fill the gaps inside herself. Anything and everything to replace the pieces stolen before she learned how to protect them.
Her appearance is one of the few things she bothers to take pride in and it’s something she actively puts work into maintaining. She doesn’t like being sweaty and loathes the way dirt and grime feel on her skin. As such she has a natural almost instant dislike of people who don’t take similar care with their own hygiene.
Under the harsh exterior is someone uncertain of their place in this world, and that insecurity makes it difficult for her to get close to others, nearly impossible to let someone inside her inner circle. But for those who do manage to wiggle their way in they would discover a deep-rooted sense of loyalty, she would go to the end of the world for the few people she considers precious to her. Though in return she expects the same. Betrayal is something Michi simply can't tolerate, or rather she is terrified of being betrayed. Hypocritical as it is for someone like her to expect.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | Tokyo, Japan |
PARENTS: | Milo Hinamori née Graves (father) Tsubaki Hinamori (mother) |
SIBLINGS: | none |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | n/a |
OTHER: | "Owns" one surly tom cat named Kurumi |
[ I ]
It starts with a marriage of convenience.
Hinamori, Tsubaki was a Japanese native born and raised. Like many she had dreams and aspirations of one day having the perfect life. It was... oddly fitting that her quirk allowed her to see the potential a human possessed. A simple glance would be enough to deem them winners or failures. Useless or worthless. Her entire world was wrapped around this coveted power and she used it to further advance her own lot in life.
Milo Graves was an American businessman, attempting to expand his investments and ideas into Japan. His quirk gifted him an aura of charisma. People liked him. That friend everyone always seemed to enjoy having around. But not enough that potential Japanese investors were willing to overlook his status as a foreigner
The two meet and it’s no surprise that they decide to eventually tie the knot. Tsubaki gains a husband who could give her the comfortable secure life she'd dreamed of. Milo changes his name and suddenly the more skittish business partners are more willing to work alongside the newly dubbed Hinamori-san.
A child was never a part of their plans, but life seldom happens just how we’d like it to, and so the two find themselves playing the part of doting parents.
[ II ]
Michi's earliest memory is of a party her parents are hosting. She couldn't have been more than two at the time, and it's summer time and they have a pool and she has been looking forward to swimming all afternoon. And when its finally time she puts on her favorite swimsuit (pink!) but before she can make it outside her mother's stern voice stops her dead in her tracks, manicured fingers pinching at Michi's waist. Wear the yellow swimsuit, she says, it's got ruffles that will help hide the pudge of baby fat around her middle. Michi hates the yellow one, and even though she's too young to understand the implications of her body being shamed by her mother, she dutifully changes. Though suddenly the excitement of swimming seemed over taken by the sick burning feeling she feels coiling in her belly.
[ III ]
With her quirk comes the realization that people are liars. They smile and say one thing, but she can SEE how they truly feel. They can't fake the colors woven in their looms. With time she learns what each color means, learns to read the ever-twisting threads that make a person who they are and those that link people together. She learns that her parents don't love her. They're good at pretending, and without her quirk maybe she'd have believed their lies till the day she died.
[ IV ]
To see emotions, to see where loyalties lie between people, she could use that for good right? In school her friends all come to her. Does he like me? Is she cheating on me? Are we really friends? They bombard her, desperate and insecure children then teenagers, they needed to know the truth. So Michi learns there are more liars in the world, and they do not take kindly to her seeing the truth behind their masks.
[ V ]
The bullying starts in middle school, so and so puts tacks in her locker, her gym clothes disappearing, gum in her hair. They're angry, why couldn't Michi just butt out. Feelings and emotions were supposed to be sacred, private. They don't appreciate how easily transparent they become under Michi's gaze.
[ VI ]
It was only a matter of time before Michi started to resent others. Some wanted to use her, some wanted rip her stupid eyes right out of her head. So, she started taking back. Her quirk wasn't going to be used freely now, if someone wanted her to gaze upon the life looms of another then it was going to cost them. Money trickled in easy enough. Husbands, wives, partners, all desperate to confirm or catch cheating spouses or lying business partners. They could school their physical responses, could spout all the right words and answers but their Looms can’t lie and Michi can see the truth hidden within.

QUIRK & SKILLS
LOOM OF LIFE
TYPE: Transformation
RANK/LEVEL: B (?)
SUMMARY:
Put simply, her quirk allows Michi to see the Threads of people. Threads are the visual expression of a person’s emotions and relationships (they literally look like glowing, multicolored strings writhing inside each person and twisting out to reach between connected people).
Her quirk is activated and deactivated through conscious thought, transforming her eyes to allow her to see the Looms of those around her. Upon transformation, the living world around her becomes superimposed with a new one making Looms visible to her. The chaotic threads are generally located in the center of a person’s chest, and to some extent resembles a large ball of knotted yarn with countless threads twisting out and away from the central mass. Each colored thread corresponds to a certain emotion with the intensity of its color indicating how strong the person is currently feeling said emotion.
When viewing the Looms Michi can interact with their threads to a certain extent, meaning she can dull or intensify the thread's color and in turn how strongly the individual feels that particular emotion by focusing her attention on a single string amongst the twisting threads. Anger could be dulled to mild irritation or anticipation heighted to bubbling excitement. Furthermore by combining both dulling and intensifying different emotional threads she can temporarily change how a person feels, for example she might be able to lower another's confidence and then increase any feelings of doubt they may have – if only for a split second.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
As with most abilities the action does come with potentially debilitating side effects. When viewing the Loom, the colors of the threads are of such a bright and vibrant intensity that they always trigger mild headaches that can easily grow to horrible migraines depending on the duration of its use.
Large crowds are often the bane of her existence due to the sensory overload of viewing so many vibrant Looms at once and it can leave her feeling disoriented and potentially incapacitated. Any attempts at shielding or closing her eyes will have absolutely no effect on blocking out the ability, she will see the Looms regardless of physical barriers. Walls or other obstructions also do not inhibit her quirk in anyway, if a Loom is within range of an average human's maximum sight distance, she will be able to see it if her quirk remains active. However, if two or more people where to stand very close together (one in front of the other, for example) she'd have extreme difficultly distinguishing between the two separate beings and their respective Looms. Groups also make it increasingly more difficult to focus on a single person's emotional thread to the point where she would be able to interact with it.
Another major drawback to her quirk is that she cannot create an emotional thread where there is none, nor can she actually remove a thread from a person's Loom. Furthermore the effects of her meddling are often short lived, as she cannot remove the reason behind the targeted emotion. The duration may further shortened if the cause of the emotion is actively undoing her work, for instance if she were to try and dull the intensity of panic being experienced by someone who's been critically injured the effect of doing so would end the moment she stopped using her quirk to do so as the reason behind the panic is still present. The only way to sustain the effects would be for her to continuously keep her focus on that single thread, which would seriously hinder her ability to pay attention to anything else going on around her.
She, unfortunately, is completely unable to see her own Loom and therefore can't alter her own emotions for her own benefit.
Presently she can activate her quirk in short bursts with minimal discomfort, which is lessened or increased depending on how crowded an area is and if she tries to focus on too many threads at a time.
The mechanics:
1. As stated she can only work with the existing emotions a character is currently feeling and cannot create nor impose a foreign emotion, meaning during IC posting her quirk will be limited to only those emotions/feelings that have been conveyed in the other character's own posts by the other writer. How the other character reacts is also fully up to the other writer, as simply feeling a certain way does not dictate how the other character would respond, especially if the other character is adept at schooling their behavior regardless of how they may feel internally. Her quirk is first and foremost plot-centric and not intended for any kind of prowess in physical altercations.
2. The duration of the effects of her using her quirk to amplify or dull an emotion is entirely left up to the discretion of the writer of the character being affected, and may potentially not even last for the entirety of a full post.
3. In regards to using her quirk to continuously hold an emotional thread at a certain threshold, several variables come into play. If there are no outside distractions or anything that would cause her to lose focus she can hold her attention to that single emotion for up to ~3 posts before the mental strain becomes too much and her focus is forcibly ended as well as her quirk deactivating for a minimum of ~1 post up to a maximum of ~3 before she is able to activate it once again. If there are distractions then the moment her attention is diverted the emotion has the potential to immediately return to its previous state, meaning lasting at most ~1 post (unless the other writer chooses otherwise depending on the IC situation).
4. She is only able to focus on a single emotional thread at a time and cannot simultaneously raise/lower more than a single emotion. In order for more than one to be effected she must abandon her focus on the first in order to move on to a different emotional thread. At her current skill level she would not be able to accomplish switching her focus more than once in a single post.
5. Currently she can sustain keeping her quirk active for up to ~5 posts before needing to deactivate it due to the strain it causes. This maximum is only achievable so long as she is merely using her quirk to view Looms and not using it to affect emotional threads in which case the maximum drops to the previously stated maximum of ~3 posts after which her quirk is forcibly deactivated for the ~1 to ~3 posts before she can activate it once again.
6. When using her quirk in short bursts (~1 post then again ~2 posts later) to simply view Looms she can drag out how long she can use it (~7 non-consecutive posts) by giving herself breaks before the strain of using it becomes too much and she is forced to rest before being able to activate it again.
7. Presently she can reach her maximum duration of using her quirk and then waiting the mandatory potential max of ~3 posts before using it again up to ~2 times (so using it to maximum, resting then using it to maximum once more) in a single thread. Max for viewing and altering emotional threads is ~3 posts. Max for simply viewing looms continuously is ~5 posts. Max for sporadically viewing is ~7 posts. Minimum rest time after reaching max for simply viewing is ~1 post. Minimum rest time for viewing and altering is ~3 posts. All durations relating to length of time an emotion remains altered is up to the other writer.
