Ren stands at just under five and a half feet tall, with a slim build that is accented by a slightest bit of muscle tone. His messy blonde hair stretches down to the base of his neck and his bangs frequently hang down around his soft golden eyes. Though his form is small and his skin rather pale, his body is still in fairly decent shape, maintained by his wide range of athletic interests.
Having been forced to dress 'properly' for years, now that Ren has escaped his family's high class lifestyle he rarely wears anything that isn't comfortable when given the choice. T-shirts, hoodies, loose jeans, and cargo pants have become the norm, and that's just fine by him, considering they're usually the cheaper option as well. No matter what he wears, however, he almost always dons a bright yellow scarf that his sister made for him, a little reminder of home halfway around the world.

RUMOR/SECRET: | He ran away from home and is living under a different identity. |
Ren tends to be a rather reserved person most of the time. He has a habit of keeping to himself and isn't particularly social... unless of course someone else starts the conversation. Its not so much that he's shy, but more that he's simply gotten used to solitude. Assuming you can get past the unintentionally standoffish exterior, he's actually a pretty easy person to talk to, almost always respectful of others and not quick to judge.
Those that get to know Ren will find a kind individual that is selfless to a fault. He is fiercely loyal to the friends that he does manage to make, and seems to almost always puts their well being above his own. Although oddly willing to endure injury and humiliation himself, he can't stand to see others in such a situation. When he sees a person in trouble, he can't help but step in, no matter what cost it may have to him. His actions would suggests that he almost never puts himself in the equation when making decisions and some might consider it to a be an utter lack of self preservation instinct.
Given his experience with his father's family, Ren has a severe distaste for what most would call 'the social elite'. Having grown tired of the predestined lifestyle and false kindness of opportunity seekers, he threw away his family name and ran away from home (probably one of the only things he's ever done for his own sake). While now 'free' from this life, Ren does everything in his power to keep his true identity secret, going so far as to bleach his hair to alter his appearance. He rarely ever talks about his past, and when he does he's generally pretty vague about it.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | Berlin, Germany |
PARENTS: | Hiro Yamaki(Father, deceased), Claire Wolff(Mother, Missing) |
SIBLINGS: | Hari Yamaki(Sister) |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | Single |
OTHER: | None |
Quirk marriages can be a rather prickly subject in society. While not illegal, the practices involved can often be rather suspect and have earned it a bit of a reputation, to say the least. That being said, every once and awhile things can turn out alright. Hiro Yamaki was the heir to a prominent family in Japan, and Claire Wolff was a professional hero that had climbed that ranks in Europe. Both possessed rather powerful abilities and came from wealthy families, and so the union was as much political as it was practical in their eyes of their houses. Although initially unhappy with the idea of an arranged marriage, The pair actually did fall in love soon after meeting, and together started a family with two children, Hari and Ren.
To say that Ren's upbringing was a pleasant one would be an understatement. Growing up in his mother's home in Berlin, there was little trouble to be found. His two loving parents had plenty of resources with which to spoil their children, and his own natural abilities assured that he could get into best schools around. He wanted for nothing, and, despite the protests of Hiro's family, was free to choose whatever road in life suited him. Of course, such times were apparently not meant to last.
Around his Seventh birthday, Ren's mother suddenly disappeared while on the job. She was called in to investigate an anonymous tip about a smuggling ring in a nearby warehouse and simply never returned. Despite a massive search effort lead by Hiro, no sign of her was ever found, and the warehouse in question was completely empty, as if everything that should have been inside vanished into thin air. Too young to fully grasp the nature of the situation, all Ren knew is that his mother was gone, and that his world was being turned upside down. His father soon became distant and sickly, and with nothing left tying them down in Germany, the Yamaki family pressured them into returning to Japan.
This new life was far from what the boy had become accustomed to. Ren was dressed up in expensive clothes and dragged into a world of forced expectations and social obligation that he wanted nothing to do with. With his father's health inevitably failing, he and his sister were taken in by relatives and suddenly had to contend with their every move being pre-planned by people they barely knew. Even his studies wouldn't provide an escape, as the new 'prestigious' school he moved to was a less than welcoming environment. Those that assumed the boy's arrival was nothing more than the result of his family's influence bullied and ostracized him, preventing him from making any new friends in Japan. Even under such circumstances, he was not allowed to fail. And so he buried himself in his education and endured, becoming far closer with his older sister as a result of their shared burden.
It was natural, given the nature of their family's arrangement, that Ren and Hari would be pressured into the world of heroes, but honestly it was a path that the boy would have taken on his own. Despite all of the cruelties that the other children leveled upon him, he never sought retribution for himself. Given the drastic turn that his life had taken, some broken part of him had simply accepted it as the way things were. When he saw other children being treated the same way though? He didn't even hesitate. His actions may have eventually earned him a bit of respect from some, but it created far more enemies. That never stopped him though, the act of standing up to help others appealed to something inside of him, some idea of righteousness that his mother left behind.
When it came time to enroll in a high school, Ren was 'obligated' to pick an institution that lived up to the Yamaki family name. Given his apparent timidness, they had assumed that he was simply going to act in their best interests, but the boy had finally had enough. On the day he was supposed to enroll, Ren vanished from the family compound and made his way to the UA entrance exams, entering under the name Wolff rather than Yamaki. By taking up his mother's family name, he rejected a recommendation that could have been handed to him on a silver platter, electing instead to make it by his own merits. And make it he did.
Stepping into the school of heroes once again exposed Ren to the freedom of choice that he used to have, but it was not without its cost. In order to prevent discovery by his relatives, he was forced to alter his appearance, cut ties with nearly everyone he knew, and find work to help pay his way through school.

- Hero costume:
Ren's hero costume takes the form of a sleek, full body suit with a deployable helmet built in. Being just a body suit, he more often than not wears his normal clothes overtop. Although padding and light armor plating provide a degree of added protection, the suit's primary feature is that the interior is largely cut off from the outside environment (With the exception of air filters built into the helmet). Integrated regulation systems work to keep the inside of the suit at an optimal temperature for Ren to make use of his quirk; fireproof coating and cooling systems working to protect against high temperature environments, and heating systems to counter the gradual loss of body temperature accrued by his quirk. Effectively, the suit grants him mild resistance to changes in outside temperature, and buys him an extra 2 posts of active use before his quirk drawbacks begin to kick in. Countless tiny sealed channels are built into the mesh of the suit like pores, and can be opened by applying pressure from the inside, allowing him to continue to his quirk properly without seriously compromising the environmental seal.
QUIRK & SKILLS
Cryokinesis
TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: D+
SUMMARY:
A mastery of ice and snow, Ren's abilities are the result of a quirk marriage between a man that could manipulate temperature, and a woman who could control water. His quirk can be separated into two primary features; the spontaneous creation of frozen material, and the ability to manipulate said material within a given distance from himself. Any ice created will either originate directly from his body, or from a mass of ice that he is in contact with. The ice is completely normal in terms of its physical properties, including the speed at which it melts. Any ice within his zone of influence, whether he created it or not, can be manipulated freely, and there is no limit to the number of separate bodies he can control at once, as long as the combined weight is below his maximum threshold. Given his current abilities, Ren can create up to 5 foot cube of ice per post, and manipulate up to 75 lbs of ice within a 30 foot radius.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
Though Ren's quirk is powerful, it is not without its costs. Whenever he makes use of his quirk, his body temperature drops slightly. Though the exact rate at which this happens is dependent on the scale of the power exerted, it's quite obvious that this can cause some serious problems. Chills quickly grow into a loss of feeling in his extremities, and if pushed far enough, he can fairly easily give himself a nasty case of frostbite, potentially causing permanent damage. Assuming he's not holding back, Ren can can maintain his Quirk for about 5 posts before he starts to lose feeling in his limbs, and 10 posts before frostbite begins to take hold, though these effects can be accelerated if he loses control.
Beyond the physical demands, Ren also has a great deal of difficulty reining in his own power, as it constantly seems at risk of bursting out. While he can generally manipulate his ice with ease in a controlled environment, his mental state has a large impact on his ability to control the quirk. The most common instance of this would be a habit of unconsciously cooling the air around him when he becomes distracted, but this is only a small sample. When upset or otherwise distressed his aim and power go wild, with frequently explosive results that can be just as dangerous to himself and his allies as they are to his opponents.
Although his mother's quirk allowed her to manipulate water, this ability was not passed on to Ren. As a result, heat is one of easiest ways to counter his quirk. In addition to losing control over his ice once it melts to water, high temperatures can also interfere with his ability to create more. The hotter it is, the more energy it takes for him to form new ice, and the less control he has over it.

RANK/LEVEL: D
SUMMARY:
After his mother disappeared and his father's health began to decline, things suddenly became rather strained in Ren's family. The boy took it upon himself to help fill in the gaps and started doing all manner of jobs around the house, one of which included helping his sister cook every day. That's how it started out at least, but Ren quickly found that he actually enjoyed the task and eventually took over the work completely. Even after leaving home, he still frequents the kitchen, more as a hobby now than out of necessity.
Kendo/Iado
RANK/LEVEL: D+
SUMMARY:
One of the few things that Ren actually enjoyed about his family's expectations was their insistence that he study Kendo. While initial reluctant, he quickly found that the classical art of swordplay was a fantastic way to deal with the stress that constantly piled up on him, not to mention that he seemed to have a natural affinity for the blade. He had started to fall off in practice toward the end of his time at his last school, but luckily UA's facilities provided a perfect excuse to get back into things.
