The Place the Boats Go
Underwater, yet above water Chaotic, yet peaceful Hot, yet cold That's Where the Boats Go That's Where We All Go Today was the big day. After weeks of waiting and nursing up strength, Futaba Himura was given the clear for surgery. They were rightfully concerned about Futaba's ability to make it through the surgery when it was the best option. A surgery like this was anything but routine. It was a difficult surgery as one mistake could have a myriad of horrible consequences. From being paralysed to dying, everything and anything could go wrong. Even if they succeed in removing the cancer from her brain, the doctors weren't sure what would happen. They had a vague idea of what could happen but Futaba's case was unique. The cancer had grown with her quirk. The part of her brain that her quirk developed from was where the cancer originally grew. They brought in some case files of surgery being done on people that affected their quirk but none of these were relating to the brain. The doctors were stumped because they simply didn't know the risks. Maybe attempting the surgery on the girl would have higher chances of failure because of how the quirk manifested. After deliberations between the staff, the board, Fu, and her family, they had decided to go ahead with the surgery. They knew the risks and had weighed them enough to be confident in their decision to operate. The doctors had a long talk with Futaba, explaining what could happen. Futaba was silent during most of that conversation, just sort of blankly staring at a specific place of the wall. She felt like she was a third party observer. She had gone through so much pain already during this time that she didn’t care if there were consequences for her. She just wanted it to be over. She hated being sidelined. She hated seeing her friends progress while she was stuck in a hospital bed. She wanted to be a hero, not because of her family but for herself. It had taken too long for her to realise this for her illness to take it away from her. As they prepared to put Fu under, the doctors all exchanged nervous glances. It was their jobs but brain surgery was always a nervous affair. One of the nurses present gave Fu a reassuring pat as they put on the mask to put her under for the surgery. Slowly Fu faded, wondering what would become of her after this ordeal. How she was going to be a hero! Slowly Fu sunk into a uneasy sleep and so the doctors began their work. They go towards this Bright Flash

One Large Boat "Come on Fu. It's easy. Just reach out for it."The woman sat cross-legged on the floor, holding out a small ball. Her daughter was sitting just slightly away from her. She was floating the ball with her mind, letting it idly spin like the earth. Her daughter sat there, giving the ball a stern look. The last time they did this, she could feel the tug from her daughter pulling the ball towards her but today something was off. Did she just imagine it? "I can't do this mummy." The little girl said, sounded clearly dejected. The woman's expression grew significantly more gentle, letting the ball drop and moving closer to her daughter. Holding out her arms, she invited the little girl for a hug. Almost instantly the girl moved to enter her mother's embrace, curling up into her. Gently stroking the girl's hair, the woman listened to her daughter quietly cry. Her daughter was sad and it felt like it was her fault. "You're brother helped you, right? He helped you the last time?" The girl didn't respond directly, just choosing to look into her mother's eyes. The look meant more than just a simple answer. It told her more than words ever would. "It's fine, Fu-chan. There is nothing wrong with you..."~~ Ai suddenly stirred, having fallen asleep in her wheel chair. She was still in the private waiting room the hospital had for family members of patients in a planned procedure. The room was quiet, her being the only occupant at the time. When she originally got there, there were other families present. Each family had been anxious, waiting for what they hoped was good news. They all have received it at this point of the day. It had been early in the afternoon before the surgery began and now it was in the middle of the night. She was told that the surgery was going to take a long time but that didn't comfort her that much. As the room emptied and the sky darkened, Ai was filled with more and more dread. What if they underestimated the cancer? What if their treatments hadn't been as effective as they thought? What if her daughter was not physically strong enough to take such a surgery? What if her daughter was too stressed and they couldn't do the surgery properly? What if her daughter died... "No, she is alive. Don't think that. Fu is strong. Fu can do this."The silence was broken with the gentle sound of a door creaking open. The despondent mother look up, hope, dread, sadness all crashing into her at the same time.

One Small Boat The classroom was empty, desks pushed up against the walls and chairs staked in the corners. The school year had finished and people had moved on. People have moved on to their summer break or the prospects of their next school. Some kids were heading to regular schools while some were going to select hero academies around Japan. Everyone was terribly excited about their future prospects. Everyone student had gone home. Some teachers were clearing out their desks for the summer. A janitor was cleaning the empty rooms, restoring them to the condition they were before the school year started. Slowly, the older janitor moved from room to room, eventually arriving by the music room. To his shock, he could hear the sounds of music playing. Carefully sliding the door open, he saw a girl lying on the floor with two pieces of paper in front of her. The music seemingly was coming from a stereo. The student wasn't familiar to the man so he cleared his throat to make his presence known.
"Excuse me, but the school is closed."
The girl didn't move, seemingly not hearing him. Repeating his statement, he watched as the girl didn't respond again. Slowly approaching, he noticed the small pillow the girl had under her head. She was asleep. Bending down to lightly tap her on the shoulder, he saw the a logo that he'd seen on TV before. It was the logo of U.A. High School. Curious, he picked it up. The letter was congratulating the girl, Futaba Himura, on her acceptance into U.A. but there were things that were off. All over the letter, things were written about the sleeping girl. All seemingly in different hand writing, ragging on the girl. How she didn't deserve being in U.A. How she was a fraud. How no one liked her. How her family hated her. But the one thing that was prominent was in big red letters 'You'll never be a hero!'
It made the man feel unsettled, seeing all these hateful messages. Noticing that the girl was beginning to stir, he placed the letters back where they were originally. Walking back to his cart, he sorted out his supplies and waited for the girl to wake up. A minute or so later, the girl stood near him, apologising for getting in his way. She was very sincere and polite. He hadn't seen that sort of behaviour in a while since he started working at the school. The teachers were treated with respect but most just ignored him. Waving her offers of helping him away, he told her to go home and enjoy her summer. Reluctantly, the girl left the room. Just before she left, he said
"You'll always can be a hero. You'll be the hero to someone and to someone's story. Never forget that. You'll be a hero, Futaba Himura."
The girl gave him a smile he hadn't seen on a student before running off. He would see the girl running in the school yard, a obvious jump in her step. The girl ran through the gates with a smile on her face. A smile of someone who will be someone's hero someday. Futaba grand journey had begun!

Hear Me, Forget Me A notification sound rang out in the hospital, in the school, and in the houses. Several people were getting the same notification, either it being through a messenger or another application. It was a simple link to a video titled "Hear Me." Some chose to ignore it, while others eagerly followed the link. "I really don't know where to start with this." It was a girl sitting behind her camera. The backdrop familiar to those who would tune in the the girl's streams. She wasn't wearing her usual Pokemon related gear, rather she was wearing a uniform. It was her old school uniform, rather simple black and white affair. She looked sickly but there was a hint that she was recovering. A little drip stood next to her, confirming that she was ill. "People know under different names. My parents and friends know me as Futaba or Fu. My school known me as Himura. Most of you, though, know me as Fu-chan." Indicating around her, where her usual stream layouts would be. She felt like they were unnecessary for what she wanted to talk about. This video was about herself coming clean about how she has been feeling.
"A couple months ago I was diagnosed with cancer. It led to my hospitalisation and my current situation. When this video comes out, I will be in surgery. This surgery can yield widely different results but one thing is for certain, things will be different." Fu hiccuped, feeling the weight of the past couple months weighing down on her all over again. The hardship. The suffering. It was all there again. But she had to get through it. She had to get through with not only this but also her cancer.
"My whole life I have thought that I was unimportant. Everyone never remembered me for myself but rather who I was in relations to others. I was never Futaba Himura. I always was Ai and Sora Himura's daughter. I always was Ryuusei Himura's little sister. " Fu grimaced a bit, looking around her room.
"People were nasty to me because of my name. They called me worthless. They called me not a true Himura. They called me an accident. " A few tears started to form as Fu pressed on. "I started doing this and playing the koto because I wanted to feel special. I wanted people to be excited to see me. So I became Fu-chan...and people made me feel special. I will be forever grateful for that..." Fu stopped herself a bit before. She knew that the next topic would be hard for her.
"I wanted to thank everyone. The people that watch me play silly games. My family which I owe so much to." Fu felt the tears slide down her cheeks, choosing not to stop it. She knew she was going to cry. "Daiki-kun...who I love for being the kindest and most gentle person I have ever met. No matter what happens to me, I know you'll be a great hero and you'll bring smiles to many. If I am in your way because of what's happening and can happen, move on. I'll manage. I'm always used to being alone."Fu looked at her feet as she delivered her final words before the video cut off.
"Forget me, everyone. Mum, Dad, big brother...Daiki...Ryuga...1-A. Just forget me. We are all better off that way.

Facing tempests of dust, I'll fight until the end Creatures of my dreams, raise up and dance with me Ai dropped her phone, tears welling cascading down her cheeks as her own daughter's words. How could she say such things about herself? She never thought she raised her in a way that would make her think like that. Maybe she was not as attentive as she thought she was. Ai clearly didn't notice that her own daughter was depressed. She did not notice that the people that bullied her daughter a couple years ago got to her. That Futaba thought she was disappointing the family because she was not as powerful as the rest of the family. That she felt like an outcast. She should have seen it but she was just deaf to Futaba's plight. ~~ Where am I?Everything was blurry. Unidentified shapes moved about. There was some tickling sensation towards creeping through her body as her senses started to return. Her eyes were open but she could not really make out anything. The effects of being under for the surgery were wearing off and doctors were making sure Futaba had no issues during her wake up phase. They had been operating on the girl for several hours now. As the progress further, they knew the girl was going to be okay but the fear always lingered. The fear of the unknown for the girl. Her surgery had been unique because her quirk had been involved with the surgery. The part of the brain that developed her quirk was the ill part. They just did not know what would happen after the surgery. All the advances in medicine and they still could only do so much. As one of the doctors made sure the girl was okay, another nurse wheeled in Futaba's mother. Pushing the wheelchair next to the recovery bed, all of them waited for the girl to fully be awake. As thing started to come in focus, Fu was able to make out shapes of the different people. The nurse in the floral scrubs. The two doctors in their white coats. Her mother in her wheel chair. The edge of her bed. The small tray which had a cup of water on it. Everything in the room was coming into view. Smiling, she reached out her hand which was instantly met by her mother's hand. The doctor gave Fu a soft smile before asking "How are you feeling?"The only thing Fu could do was nod as if that would suffice as an answer. The doctor nodded, taking out a clip board. "According to our records, you can mentally transmit your thoughts to people you see. Why don't you try that?" Fu nodded again, looking at the doctor. When she used her quirk, it just sort of happened. She would think something and that would be sent out if she wanted to. Closing her eyes just for a moment, she concentrated on a simple thought of "Hello.". Hey eyes flew open and she just tried to say hello with her quirk. After several minutes of silence, there was a sigh of relief from the doctor. "Good. I heard that. Hello to you too! The nurse is going take you back to your room so you can rest a bit!" He smiled, watching the nurse roll the bed with his patient down the hall. Putting his hand out, he said "Wait just one moment, Himura-san."Pulling Ai aside, he gave her a sad smile "While your daughter did retain her quirk. It seemingly set her back. While I was able to feel her using her quirk. It felt very distant." The doctor paused, before adding "Your daughter also will need hearing aids. Her hearing was damaged. You might have noticed I was speaking very loudly. We don't know yet how badly her hearing is damaged but hearing aids are recommend. We will see if further steps will be required such as sign language." The doctor nodded before motioning back towards the direction of Futaba's room. Ai had to digest what she just heard but at least Fu was safe.
