The first impression anyone gets of Yaksha is that there should be no reason anyone his size should realistically be alive; he stands towering over most normal people, with skin that looks so pale that it's easy to make out the veins underneath in most cases. He's thin enough that people who touch him can almost always feel the bones very quickly, giving him a near-anorexic look. He typically covers up for his cadaverous thinness by wearing suits that are just slightly big for him, always making it hard to really guess his physique beneath them.
His sense of dress and fashion are probably his one major vice, and he will often spend upwards of six figures on a good suit of clothing when he's preparing for a job, or a big meeting with any other villains. He sticks to three piece suits almost exclusively, but can sometimes be seen wearing simple button-up shirts when he's trying to 'blend in'.
He walks with a slight habit of listing to the right, but when he runs is able to avoid any inefficiencies in his gait. While at rest or simply waiting, he tends to always exude an air of thinly-leashed energy, like a tightly wound spring waiting to be released from its pressure. He tends to avoid sitting when he can, owing to the difficulty of being able to find enough room in most typical places to place his legs. The few times he does find a place large enough to recline, he can be seen lying almost straight back, so his feet stick directly up into the air.
He speaks slowly under normal circumstances, but quickly develops a speech tic that sounds very much like a hissing snake when excited or agitated. Whenever he's taking lead of a conversation, he seems to let all of his excess energy fly loose; walking in wide circles, wildly gesturing with his hands, and even beginning to dance are not uncommon features for him.
When at rest, Yaksha has a bad habit of chewing on nearly any object he can; he'll bite his fingernails, chew his lip to shreds, or tear and begin consuming bits of paper or similarly indigestible material. He often seems unaware he's even doing it, but when brought to his attention he exhibits little shame or concern over it.

PERSONALITY
LIKES AniseedMentoring Young People Reading Cooking | DISLIKES The ColdHero Academies/UA Being Alone Hypocrites |
RUMOR/SECRET: | Many people theorize that Yaksha is some kind of cannibal, primarily owing to his ability to unhinge his jaw. |
Yaksha is a lot more sociable than his general physique would imply, and always enjoys an opportunity to meet new people. He's extremely well-read on a lot of topics and takes great pleasure in being able to actually discuss any of the topics he's studied with others. Particularly, he enjoys being able to find and separate students from their mentors, and hold very lengthy conversations.
While he holds no deep grudge towards heroes themselves, or those with quirks, he seems to feel as if the establishment of schools and structured training regiments to be somehow loathsome to him, and often encourages as many students he can to drop out and pursue their hero activities independently of their education.
By and large, he always exudes a palpable sense of ironclad control; both over himself and others. It's very rare that he has to pause more than a few seconds before replying to a statement, and the general-purpose smile he keeps on his face always seems to give the impression that he knows the next thing someone plans to say before they do. It's very difficult, nigh-impossible to actually make him express powerful emotions, besides amusement and happiness. The few times he is genuinely mad, it quickly becomes clear just why he's a villain.
His main favorite habit is cooking, especially ironic given his physique. While he eats very little under normal circumstances, he still has a great appreciation for the aesthetic appeal of a well-cooked meal, and typically derives as much vicarious pleasure from watching others eat as he would if he himself were the one eating. In particular, he is very fond of cakes and pastries, or just about any form of fruit-flavored dessert. He often states it's the most efficient way to get his calories.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | United States, East Coast(exact state unknown) |
PARENTS: | Sita/Douglas |
SIBLINGS: | None Known |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | None Known |
OTHER: | N/A |
Yaksha was destined to lead an interesting life from the moment he was born; already he was exhibiting the beginnings of his quirk, with his tongue forked and a strange rash of scales along his face and legs. He immediately needed to be placed in an incubator when the doctors realized his ability to regulate his own body temperature was severely diminished as a result of his quirk. Once this relatively simple problem was identified and resolved, he had a very simple childhood for the most part. He never entered a rebellious phase, or truly felt much desire to act out like other kids. It was always known that Yaksha was old from birth, oddly mature and always focused on the next goal.
He first started to realize the benefit his quirk afforded him when he was in his early teens, and surrounded by his classmates; he was given a reputation of the student's pet, but strangely enough was never bullied or actually put to task for his precocious behavior. He seemed to have no trouble getting along with everyone, from the jocks to the class clowns, always able to seem just similar enough to them, or to share just enough interests to remain cordial with them.
It escalated quickly, with him able to identify with near-flawless efficiency which students were dating, or who had crushes on other students. He began to garner a reputation as match-maker, always able to bridge the gap between people that others would say never had a chance of having happy ending together. Almost without exception, Yaksha was able to read his classmates as easily as he would his own textbooks, and he relished the benefit it afforded him.
It was when he was attending college, and later graduate school, that he began to understand better what was going on; he was able to sense the moods and unconscious desires of those around him better than they could figure out their own more often than not, and he quickly developed a fascination with the field of psychology. In particular, he was consumed by a desire to put names to the feelings he'd been having for years now. It was at this point that he reached his first obstacle.
The universities in America were entering a new phase, and with it a backlash against quirks were becoming more and more common. It was considered disruptive or unfair for students to make use of remote viewing or telekinesis quirks, and people began to reach the understanding that within a place of higher learning, it was best for the class if students simply didn't use their quirks.
Yaksha, fearing that the innate nature of his changes, dropped out of graduate school with only two years left, and began examining his options for overseas education. During this time, he worked under other therapists, observing them in their own field. Once again, he was staggered by how many obvious cues they missed or simply chose not to address, and he would often enter long conversations with others in the field, asking them how they were able to accurately diagnose and assist people with what looked, to him, like mere guesswork.
He finally attained a scholarship to study abroad, and took the opportunity to finish his studies in Japan. Fresh into the workforce, he got his first job as a school counselor at UA. He was able to connect to the children as easily as he had anywhere else, and was well-liked even amongst the younger generation. But many of the world's worst problems stem from a simple misunderstanding.
One day, Yaksha advised a student to stand up to a bully in his class, and the ensuing struggle ended with an explosive outburst that led to the suspension of one student, and the other being suspended permanently. Yaksha, owning only a Temporary License, and not being classified as a hero himself, was deemed as the cause of the argument, and was suspended from the academy as well.
It was at this point that he began to truly understand the differences between American and Japanese approaches to quirks; wheras his homeland had considered standing up for one's self to be right almost unilaterally, the desire for peace and tradition in Japan was an obstacle he struggled with almost daily. Over the next year, he was unable to find even a single place willing to hire him after the stigma of his time mentoring students.
Finally, his first real break came one day, when he ended up becoming a hostage as a bank was being robbed. He was able to detect the fear and frustration of the robber almost immediately, and to ingratiate himself even faster. By the time the hostage negotiator had arrived to solve the crisis, they had found themselves facing a completely unexpected accomplice, and turned completely on their head.
Since, Yaksha has made a remarkably good living as a con man, supplier, and all around man of ill means for all other villains. He seems to have no problem convincing otherwise upstanding citizens to provide him or other villains with assistance, ranging from a quiet place to stay and plan their next criminal act, to impromptu alibis or medical care.

THE ARMORY
Yaksha has only one piece of equipment that he treasures, a gift from UA when he first enrolled there as a counselor. It's a coat as large as he himself is, covered in fur and weighing nearly twenty pounds on its own. It provides him a great deal of insulation against the cold, and he frequently takes it down during the winter to keep himself comfortable.
QUIRK & SKILLS
Apophis
TYPE: Mutation
RANK/LEVEL: B
SUMMARY: Yaksha can do anything a snake can do! His forked tongue has a sense of smell sensitive enough to catch up on pheromones that people constantly exude, as well as conscious smells such as blood. Tracking by smell is very simple for him, and he can maintain it for 5 posts before needing a break. On top of this, he's able to use heat vision for up to three posts! After this, he needs to take a break for an equal amount of time, before trying to use it again. While he's very capable of night-raids as a result, the precision is actually enough that he can use it alongside his sense of smell to immediately detect if someone is lying, or to determine the change in bloodflow and muscle tension that tells you a punch is coming.
He can shed his own skin, and even change his appearance slightly when he does; adding birthmarks, changing the shape of his nose, or making his earlobes longer for a short period are all possible. He's also extremely flexible, able to fit into places far smaller than he is, and able to avoid attacks in extremely improbable ways.
Finally, he can unhinge his jaw, allowing him to swallow or store items he doesn't want to let slip into the wrong hands. He's got fangs as well, that can produce poison or even spit it, but only if he's eaten spicy foods recently!
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
As a snake, Yaksha has an extremely efficient metabolism; this means that, while he can survive for a week on little more than a bowl of rice and fish, he can't regulate his body temperature like most people. Sweating and shivering kick in far too late for him, and typically serve to stop him from dying completely, instead of helping him to get to a safe place. It's safe to say any fire or ice quirk can easily capture him if they can get in close enough to use it freely, and if hurting civilians isn't a concern!
While Yaksha does have poison glands, his body doesn't naturally produce poison, meaning he has to procure it from other places. Typically, he does this from the foods he eats, but because he himself isn't immune to the poison he ingests, he usually can't cause fatal damage to people with his bite. Most of the time, he sticks to capcaisin as his method of choice, working like an impromptu pepper spray when he needs a quick escape.

Cold Read
RANK/LEVEL: B
SUMMARY: Both a quirk and a skill in Yaksha's case, he is capable of eerie levels of insight about others when he's able to speak to them for prolonged periods, leading some people to theorize that he has a mind reading quirk of some kind. While knowing isn't the same as acting, it makes it very hard for even professional heroes to corner Yaksha or lead him into a trap.
Free Running
RANK/LEVEL: B
SUMMARY: A talent Yaksha took to surprisingly well once he got out of school and started entering the real world, Yaksha's physique and quirk both allow him for a great deal of mobility. He's developed a solid talent for parkour, allowing him to scale buildings and jump between them with great confidence, and even to make his way through a window as he's dropping down through great heights. While he's not significantly faster than most normal people, he's able to make the best use of urban surroundings to move erratically and find hiding spots that can allow him to avoid engaging with most of the real powerhouses until he feels comfortable.
