’For the last time, it’s not a date... jeez. I’ll talk to you later Mom, bye now!”
“Click”
Mikael put his phone on the table and stood up, he was blushing and his face showed. It was night time now, and he was getting ready to sleep. He had just told his mom that he was going on a classic rock concert with a girl from the other class in the hero course. Immediately, his mother and siblings had concluded that it was a date.
While he had tried to explain to them how the whole thing happened to be, he hadn’t been very convincing. At first he thought Yui was a guy but when he found out that he had casually asked a girl to go together to the concert, he had visibly turned red and hid under the blanket for a good couple of hours.
He wasn’t really mister popular at school, just an average kid. So he didn’t have much experience going out with friends rather a female friend.
Regardless, this was not a date. He was sure of it. He didn’t mean it like that. And he knew that Yui would know that too, right?
Of course! Obviously! Certainly!
Finally, after much internal monologue, he went to sleep.
“Beep, beep”
He woke up early out of habit. The concert was in the evening so he spent the day by going to the gym, working out, doing casual things, and then a couple of hours before the scheduled time to meet, he wondered through all his clothes to pick the best ones.
But he ended up choosing the casual ones he usually wore. They weren’t anything special. A loose white colored full sleeves shirt, with a baggy grey pants, and sneakers on his feet. Super casual.
The two had decided to meet near exit of the dorms. From there, they were supposed to head off to the concert location. Mikael was there fifteen minutes early.
He hadn’t met Yui in person before, so he didn’t wanted to create the wrong impression. After all, he really didn’t like tardiness.
”Not a date!”, for the thousandth time, he reminded himself as he awaited her arrival.

Of course her own parents were concerned, mostly because their daughter wanted to go to a rock concert. However, some of their concern came in the fact that their daughter intended to go with someone from her school, a boy. To them, it did not matter that he happened to be a UA High Hero Course student. Nope, he was a boy, therefore clearly this was some secret date. The notion happened to be as crazy as it was embarrassing. What could be the harm in two music lovers going together? Besides, she rarely ever got the chance to do this sort of thing. Her parents had relented and allowed her to go in the end. Yet they expected a phone call as soon as she got back to her dorm. Yui could only agree to that, they were serious about that sort of thing, part of the agreement to let Yui stay on campus rather than come home to them every day after school.
The day had past quickly, with Yui losing herself to her music practice before catching up on some of her school work which needed to be done. Soon however, it was time to get ready. A quick shower and she changed into concert appropriate attire. Black trainers, black leggings with denim shorts, studded leather belt and a black band t-shirt. She brushed her hand across her guitar case before leaving and locking her room. It was a short walk to the agreed meeting location. Yui happened to be on the smaller side of petite, standing an unimpressive four foot seven in height, her pink redish hair hung just shy of her shoulders and she had vibrant red coloured eyes. She would still be a few minutes early, but found to her surprise that she was not the first one of the two of them to arrive. At least she guessed it to be him, after all why else would there be someone here? "Erm... Excuse me... A... Are you Rogue?" Yui inquired shyly, never one good at speaking to people. She unfortunately believed she had the habit of saying the wrong thing, doing the wrong thing or generally messing up the conversations.

Mikael was super excited for the concert and super nervous about going with Yui. He didn’t have to wait long. Sure enough, someone dressed for the occasion appeared on the scene. While he was waiting, he’d been listening to some tunes but as soon as she came into visual range, he took off his headphones. He didn’t want to create the wrong impression on a fellow hero student.
As she walked closer, Mikael couldn’t help but notice that she was pretty short. Was she some kind of child prodigy? Could be. He had no idea who she was, really. He made a mental note to figure out because he knew better than to ask a lady her age.
To her greeting, he too reluctantly replied:
”Yes...you must be Yui-chan!”, nervously he scratched the back of his neck and smiled his best workshopped smile. That may have been a tad too odd but he couldn’t help, he was nervous.
”Ready to go?”
Regardless of how nervous he was, the concert was on his mind and he was ready to rumble. He’d wait for her to reply and assert that she was indeed ready, then the two would head towards the exit.
He was glad that Yui had told him about this and he didn’t keep that to himself either:
”I really appreciate you sharing the information about this concert. I haven’t been to one in a while now. UA admission and all. So I owe you one. Arigato!”
While usually calm and collected, Mikael couldn’t help but feel a bit fidgety. He didn’t know what his classmates would say, he didn’t know what her friends would think, or what she actually thought. Although, he had already ruled out the possibility that she would think of it as a date. His assumption was that she probably took this as two fellow music lovers and hero aspirants going together to a thing they liked; nothing more.
He hoped though that this meeting would lay the ground works to a mutually beneficial friendship where the two would learn and grow together to become heroes!
However, that would depend on how things worked out. Thinking of how things would work out, Mikael knew that the place they were headed to had a market nearby and they could grab some food on the way if they wanted to. So, he decided to treat her for telling him about the concert.
”Speaking of owing you one, how about we grab some food before we head over to the venue? My treat!”
Immediately after the words left his mouth, he realized what he had just done. Consequently, his face turned visibly red and he sweat a little but tried to hide it by chuckling nervously. Not good Mikael, not good.

She nodded the once. "Yep that is me." Yui as a student was perhaps easy to overlook, partly for her height, but also because of her difficulties in socialising and communicating. Yet, it was her music, which perhaps made her more noticeable. She regularly played her guitar and had an incredible singing voice, even after a short time listening to her play it was obvious she possessed an incredible talent. She seemed to be at peace when she played, happy, care free. It never ceased to amuse her that she could readily play to a large audience, but struggle to speak to even a handful of people. "Yes." He seemed ready to go as well, her phone buzzed in her pocket, her mother already asking if she happened to be okay. Yui replied that she was and for her to not worry, they were both okay. Besides, they always had their Quirks to fall back upon if they did find themselves facing trouble. But they should not right? After all it was just a concert, there should be nothing for them to really worry about.
Yui felt her cheeks flush at his comment. "It was nothing really." She exclaimed before saying in a quiet voice. "Arigato?" She had worried over what her parents thought, about what her friends in 1-A thought and perhaps how some of the guys in 1-A might react. There was that rivalry between the two classes for some reason, the guys generally seemed to be the more competitive, at least from her observations on the matter. After all there was no harm in having friends in another class right? That happened to be what school was for in the end right? To learn things, meet new people and perhaps most importantly make friends.
Her blush deepened at his offer to buy food for her. "No no... I... That is really kind of you but you don't need to." She protested awkwardly, her family possessed plenty of money she was worried others might think she was taking advantage of him because she did not pay. "My... My family is really wealthy so I don't... I don't want you to... Well... I..." Yui avoided looking at him as they walked, she was embarrassed by her family's wealth especially when compared to others. It was part of why she brought so few friends round. "I... I mean... You don't have to..." She stopped talking having a worrying feeling that she was simply digging for herself a hug hole and he was going to be angry with her. "I'm sorry." Yui mumbled still finding the ground to be interesting. "I... I tend to always say the wrong things to people." She tended to over think what to say, over analyse, reanalyse and generally stress herself out over a conversation. "Talking to people is difficult... Playing guitar is much easier."

Mikael quietly and attentively listened as she struggled with the conversation. It was evident that she was either more nervous than him or just generally bad with conversations. Her last statement verified Mikael’s second assumption.
To get to the venue, they would have to hail a tab and so Mikael did. During the cab ride, knowing that she was shy and uncomfortable conversing with strangers, he would keep to himself unless she would speak to him. After they would get off, he would continue the conversation as the two would walk towards the concert location; replying to her earlier statements.
”No need to apologize really. You didn’t say anything wrong. If you don’t feel like eating that’s cool, I just wanted to show my gratitude. But that’s okay, may be later. And in a way you’re comfortable with. So a rain check then!”
She hadn’t done or said anything wrong really. He understood that she was shy and all but in his opinion, if you haven’t done anything wrong, you shouldn’t have to apologize.
”When you think of it, playing the guitar is a form of expression, right? So, you could say you’re talking to people in the way you know best - by jamming some tunes on the guitar.”
As a fellow hero student, he wanted to play a supportive role in helping her overcome her shyness and general awkwardness. But, that would come later. It was too soon for that.
To be honest, Mikael was enjoying the company and the conversation. It was nice to be in the company of a fellow music lover. Not only a music lover but also a creator too. He wanted to ask her to share her music with him too but may be it was a bit too soon for that too? He didn’t know. In fact, he didn’t really know what to say after that.
For a little while, unless Yui spoke, the pair would walk silently towards the location - now only minutes away. They would begin to hear the music - openers playing their tone and speakers going wild, rock was in the air and nearby.

"Oh okay I am sorry." Yui apologised again before saying. "Sorry I... Thank you... I" She lapsed into an awkward pause again, though seemed to be trying to work up the courage to speak. "It's not that I... I'm not hungry... More I don't want anyone thinking I am taking advantage of you." She still did not look at him as she spoke. "I... My family has a lot of money so... So I'd feel bad if you paid for the food... Even if you were only doing so to be kind." She managed to explain in her halting and somewhat awkward manner of conversation. Yui had never been one who could withstand rumours, especially false ones about herself. Heck, she hated other students talking about her, though some knew her because of her musical abilities at UA High.
She nodded slowly but did not yet know what to make of his suggestion. "I... I don't know." She said uncertainly. "I... Music helps me to focus, to calm my nerves and thoughts... I... Talking to others... I slip up and then I well... I end up embarrassing myself." She guessed that he wanted to help make her more confident or at least more secure in talking to others. Yet Yui wondered if her parents concerns were true, that this was a date. He seemed to want to be nice to her... But this was the first time they met, surely they had seen each other round UA High, even if they never spoke before. However crushes were strange things, perhaps he did actually like her. Yui was not going to ask, maybe his own family had grilled him once they found out he was seeing a concert with a girl. Her own parents did to her, they also expected a phone call when she got back to her dorm. Her phone buzzed in her pocket, another text from her mom, already worried. She typed a quick response and sighed. "My... My mother keep... Keeps texting me... I think she is worried about..." She trailed off, about what? About her going to the concert? About the fact she was going with a fellow student? About the fact he happened to be well a boy? She let silence fill in the rest of her words, deciding perhaps it would be best to shut up till they reached their goal. If she did not say anything then at least then she would not have managed to dig a hole for herself.
Her phone buzzed two more times, more texts from the same source. She replied again with a small sad sigh and shoved it back into her pocket. It seemed to her to be rather disappointing that her mother did not appear to trust her. She understood the whole motherly concern about her, but... There were limits to what she believed was caring concern and paranoia. However the growing silence felt awkward to Yui. "Can we stay together when we get to the concert?" Yui inquired in a quiet voice. "I... Well I'm small okay I could easily get lost despite my Quirk..." She added, she guessed both their families would go crazy at them if they got separated at the concert.

It’s not that he hadn’t heard it the first time, Mikael had just opted to disregard the part about her family being wealthy. He didn’t think it was relevant information. Why would it matter if her family was or weren’t wealthy? Family background had no part to play in friendships, friends were always on equal grounds, in his opinion. However, Yui-chan mentioned it again. And she apologized too, right when he told her not to.
”Yare yare, Yui-chan I hope you can handle the media when you become a hero”
He couldn’t help but recall the lecture he had attended in Media 101 class from Kawaha-sensei. While he worried about his own ability to handle paparazzi, he was truly worried about someone as self-conscious as Yui-chan.
He hoped that she would overcome her shyness and grow out of it. This wasn’t the time to think about that though. To eat or not to eat, that was the question - while the roaring sound of classic rock drew closer and closer. How much time did they have left? Probably half an hour.
”You’re hungry too? It’s settled then. We need food!”
Mikael assumed that this would be the proper way to steer the conversation. She was overthinking and probably over analyzing things. There really wasn’t that much to it. If they’re hungry, they should eat. And Mikael offered to pay, so this time he pays and may be next time she does. Nothing complicated with that, right?
”No one has to know who paid, it’ll be our little secret. This time I’ll pay, and whenever we have the chance to attend another concert again, you can return the favor. Done?!”
To be honest, he wasn’t going to wait for her answer. She probably was going to read too much into it. So, while he would keep his ears open for whatever she wanted to contribute, he would begin to make his way towards a nearby cafe. They could probably get some sodas and food they could carry; he didn’t want to be late to the concert. Besides, it was right there. He could hear it, literally.
By the time they would arrive at the entrance of the cafe, Yui-chan would start getting her texts. Mikael wasn’t bothered really, he understood. They were practically strangers and it was kind of odd. May be if they were family friends or something, it would’ve been easier for her parents. Nevertheless, nothing could be changed now so might as well go with it.
”That’s what mothers do. It’s okay. Do reply to her and even call her if she wants you to.”
He would order french fries for himself and then walk to a vending machine to get some soda. He would also ask Yui-chan if she wanted one, and would get one for her too if she said yes.
Once the food was purchased and packed, Mikael and Yui-chan would depart the cafe and head for the concert.
To Yui-chan’s request to stay together, Mikael would smile and reply:
”Of course! If we didn’t stay together, what would be the point of coming together?”
True, she was small but he wasn’t going to say anything about it. She probably would have a hard time replying to that too. Mikael was a sensitive fellow and he didn’t like it when people were uncomfortable around him. No he wasn’t a people pleaser, he was just an aspiring hero.
Only ten minutes left to the concert and the two were five minutes away from the venue.
After replying to Yui-chan, Mikael would begin to gobble down the french fries and couple them up with soda. Nothing like a good snack before a rock concert.

Life was full of uncertainties, it was unpredictable like the art of a conversation. How one managed to pick an engaging topic or discuss something easily was a difficult problem for Yui. She could hazard a guess at the reasons for her issues with what appeared to be for others a relatively simple task. She over thought, worried herself over nothing, flustered herself when speaking, repeated things that did not need to or a general fear of her inevitably doing something, saying something to cause an issue. In a way it became a self fulfilling prophecy, she believed that she struggled with communicating with others face to face and so she did. She gave a nod, though he seemed to reach the decision without waiting for her answer. Perhaps such a thing would be for the best, they did not have all day to waste over her making a decision or not. They were to see a rock concert, not stand on the street in Japan as she debated over what choice to make.
His solution to the problem of who paid appeared to be a fair one. "Sure, that is fine." Yui managed a nervous but happy smile. They were just friends, but all the same she felt a tiny thrill of guilty joy at someone buying her dinner. No one had done anything like that before. It was novel, nice even. She hurried to catch up with him. "Hey wait up." She protested as she walked quickly to keep up. She glanced at him and smiled. "I have been... I... I think it is the fact that... Well..." Her cheeks turned a bright red. "Well... You're a boy and... Well I'm a girl and we are alone together." She felt as though she was digging herself into some kind of hole even as she continued to speak. "I... Well... We just met and all... But they... Mother in particular thinks this is... Erm... Well a date. Which is ridiculous..." Yui finally finished her awkward talking and sighed. Sometimes she wished that she could just shut herself up mid sentence. Why not just say sure, I have been texting her? Why say, my mom thinks this is a date and it was ridiculous? Why say that? He might think you are some total weirdo now, if he did not already.
Yui also ordered some fries, but checked first that they were suitable for vegetarians as some were not cooked in a manner suitable for people with her dietary preferences to eat. She answered that she would like a soda when he asked her. She left with him, nibbling at her fries as they headed towards the concert, she felt her cheeks warm that he wanted them to stay together since otherwise what would have been the point in coming? Finishing her meal she said. "Thank you for the food and drink." It seemed only polite to mention.

”A date?!”
Being teased by his siblings was one thing and the thinking about it himself was another but when she said it, he was flustered and visibly blushing in response. What could be the right thing to say to that? Sure, a charismatic hero would be able to navigate through this situation with ease; but he wasn’t that.
”haha.. Date.. this isn’t that. We’re just two UA students going to a concert of our favorite rock band. That’s all”, nervously he chuckled and answered what he thought was the best thing to say.
Now that the food situation was done, a few minutes of walk later, the two were at the concert. And the rock was on. They were just in time!
”Don’t mention it!”, he would reply during the brief silence.
The openers laid down some admirable tunes but now was time for the main band to take the stage and truly fill the air with classic rock. He was looking forward to it. The main band took the stage and the show began. This wasn’t his first rock concert. But he always enjoyed such events thoroughly with his hands above his head as he too moved along with the crowd; waving with the musical notes.
Of course, this time was a bit different. He made sure to keep an eye on Yui too. He didn’t want to be too distracted and end up going away from her. She did make a point about her being small. He wasn’t too big either; regardless, his average size would have to suffice for both of them.
Sure, a tug here and a push there did come their way but nothing serious. They managed.
An hour passed by. Mikael sure was enjoying himself; and he hoped Yui’s experience wouldn’t be any different from his. The concert was going well. And then, it happened.
BOOM!
A large part of a building came flying over their heads and on to the crowds. It sounded like an explosion but it wasn’t. It was louder than the music, sending the crowd into a panic. Some part of the debris must’ve affected the speakers because the music immediately died and one voice pierced through:
”You’re dead rock band! This is my time to shine!”
He was large; a shark headed giant, probably 7 feet tall if not taller. From Mikael’s point of view, he was standing behind them.
By this time, Mikael was still getting a sense of things. His immediate reflex was to grab Yui’s hand impulsively. This wasn’t a conscious decision. He knew he was with someone here and his first thought was to make sure that they stayed together; regardless of the panicking crowd.
”A villain!”
Adrenaline was gushing through. All red flags inside his mind were waving. He was in shock but trying his best not to panic. Slowly, his body twisted and turned as his gaze set upon the villain. Not a moment later, the villain bolted across and dashed on to the stage. Landing on it and attacking the rock band.
Panic grew and people began to run into the streets and away from the concert location.
He could hear them, people falling, others pushing; risks were rising. Both of them were physically average. They could end up trampled, if they stayed here.
”Yui-chan, we need to move. A hero will come. We need to go”
Sirens were sounding. Calls were being made. Surely, a hero would come and put an end to the sea of despair unfolding at this very moment.

She felt her cheeks colour at his words. "Yeah... That is what I said to my mother..." She shrugged, that was what moms were like right? Protective and perhaps in this case reading a little bit much into things. They were as he said, just two UA Students going to see their favourite rock band what else was there to it? Yui wisely decided to remain quiet as they continued their walk to the concert, the mention of the dreaded date word had been awkward enough, without her saying something else to cause a slip up. Again she wondered how conversations could be so easy for some yet so difficult for others. Yet on the other hand there were those who could not sing or play the guitar yet Yui found herself able to do both with considerable talent.
Fortunately they were easily able to keep together despite the crowd and the occasional elbow, tug or push. She enjoyed herself, it felt good to simply let all of the stress fall aside and enjoy herself. No need to worry about grades or conversations, no need to stress about hero studies this, or Media 101 homework that. Music simply had a way of letting all of life's problems merely melt away and disappear like mist in the morning light. However, life it appeared was not going to merely stand aside whilst the stress it caused found itself swept aside. Suddenly there was a detonation or a crash. Yui flinched, narrowly avoiding the temptation to use her Quirk. The ability to phase through things might be useful, but in a crowded place it rapidly might get used up. Plus she could not leave Mikael, he however it seemed had already reached out to her, his hand clasping her own, she did the same, holding onto him tightly as the night descended into chaos.
He was right, but the band was in danger. "He's attacking the band." Yui pointed out, uncertain as to whether or not she should intervene. Yet, she did not have her hero license and the last time though she avoided an issue with the law as the villain attacked her... Yui's mother went nuts, threatening to pull her out of the school and send her to the music academy. Okay, so on the surface not much of a punishment, but Yui wanted to be a hero, to be denied that would hurt.
"You're rig...." She began before someone knocked into her, causing her to stumble against him as a panicking man ran past fleeing for an exit.

There was no one to control the crowd, panic was to be expected. Mikael didn’t think he was suitable for that. But no time to process the situation. While the thoughts rushed through his mind, Yui-chan bumped into him and he almost fell but managed to stay on his feet while holding her by her shoulders so that she wouldn’t fall either.
”We’re in the middle of the crowd. Let’s move to the side”
He would suggest and then began to move towards a nearby building. This was a packed event so it would take a while with everyone pushing and running. Was it a good idea to go next to a building? Considering that a moment ago, a huge chunk of one was flung across the crowd, probably not. But he wasn’t trained for this, not yet. So, making the right decision, right away was a bit much for him. All he could do was think his best and stay calm.
”Don’t panic!!!”
Another voice pierced the sound of the panicked crowd, once more, silence fell.
”Could it be….a hero?!”
He turned, while hoping that he was still holding Yui-chan’s hand, to see a pro-hero atop a building. For those who had hoped, had been rewarded.
”Stay calm and evacuate the premises. Help those in need. Go!!”
His instructions were clear, his voice loud and confident. Even Mikael felt some confidence after hearing those words. Such was the effect of a pro-hero’s presence. Immediately after he had conveyed his instructions, he pounced on to the villain and a fight ensued. In the midst of all this, somehow, Mikael and Yui would have managed to move across and now stood next to a building.
”Help!!!”
Before he could think of what to do next, or before Yui-chan could think of something, a cry for help caught his attention. A call that no hero could ever miss or ignore. He wasn’t a hero yet but he was aiming to be one. Something inside him clicked and immediately, his gaze turned to the source. He noticed people in the building. This was the same building that villain had destroyed.
He noticed this was the same cafe building they had bought food from a few hours ago. There were people inside. He could see a woman and children. With only one pro-hero on the scene, with hands full with the villain, this was the time to make a decision.
A decision to technically commit a crime. Without at least provisional licenses, UA hero students weren’t allowed to use their quirks in public. However, this wasn’t the time. If they didn’t do anything, they would leave people who they could’ve saved to possibly die.
”Yui-chan, it’s your decision. I know we’re not allowed. But I’m going”
He wouldn’t want for her answer yet again. Whatever she decided to do was no business of his. He knew he needed the help but he couldn’t ask her to do this.
So he ran, towards the cafe. He didn’t have his bo; that would’ve been useful here. But there was enough steel around the place for him to use. Before he could do anything though, he needed a closer look.

Yui was grateful for his support and glad she did not knock him down. If they fell over with all these panicking people they were likely to suffer some injuries. Yui could of course use her powers to escape, but that would mean leaving Mikael alone and possibly in danger. She nodded in agreement, sticking close, she would use her power if need be. However, she only possessed a limited amount of time before she hit her limit and it was game over for her. She was relieved to see that a pro hero had arrived, someone trained for this, someone who could deal with this and not end up in trouble with the law. Yui already held one close call in that regard, but doing nothing then would have cost a life. But as much as she wanted to help the band, the two of them without a professional hero backing them up would not have stood much chance of success. The best thing for them to do was simply get out and probably head back to UA High. No doubt dealing with phone calls from concerned parents along with way.
The cry for aid also caught her attention, but she made no immediate response. She was already in trouble for using her Quirk, if she used it again... Yui did not want to imagine the possible consequences. She swallowed, her heart hammering as her mind raced to reach a decision. A hero had to follow the rules, otherwise they were no better than the villains if they only obeyed the law when it defended them. The law is hard but the law is the law.
Yui could help, she would just not use her Quirk. After all the law governed the usage of Quirks not people helping others and helping without using her powers. Her companion however had already starting running, having reached the decision to help. She swallowed before saying. "I'm coming too. I just cannot use my Quirk." She must not use it. She had to follow the rules. "Plus Ultra." Yui called to Mikael as they raced to see if they could help.

With the panic and everything, the thought didn’t even occur to Mikael. For people who lived with their quirks, using the quirk was a go-to solution. And aspiring heroes were training to use their quirks, so add that to the list too. But Yui’s words resonated in his mind and he nodded in approval. If neither of them uses their quirk, or if no one finds out, they’ll be in the clear. He made a mental note of that.
”Only use my quirk if absolutely necessary”
The cafe was only a hundred meters away from them, so a few moments later Mikael and Yui stood outside the building looking through the broken glass window.
”I can see a total of six people. A lady and a child, three staff, and one guy by the vending machine”
The lady was the one who had screamed for help. The guy by the vending machine was unconscious and not moving, from the broken roof atop, Mikael made out that he was hit on the head. The collapsing building had blocked the exit, the lady was caught between two big large pieces of the roof, while she held the hand of her child tightly. Luckily, the child looked okay; what was his mental state after all this, Mikael couldn’t say. The staff were behind the counter. It appeared that the door to the exit was blocked by something on the other side.
Rushing into a collapsing building was not a smart thing to do. But if they didn’t, six people could lose a limb or two, or in the worst case, die. They didn’t have a choice.
Mikael wasn’t sure how they would move forward without their quirks, but they had to try. Just like Yui-chan said, they had to give it their all - plus ultra.
”If one of us can make help the staff, they can help us with the family and the guy on the other side of the cafe”
That was his first thought. But he wasn’t sure. People acted unpredictably in such situations. What if they just ran away instead? The entire strategy would fall apart. Would it be a better idea to simply go for the closest person?
They couldn’t just stand there picking apart the strategy but sharpening the axe was always a good idea.
”What do you say Yui-chan?”
He would wait for her to respond. If she suggested a better idea, he would follow her lead. If not, he’d proceed with his plan.
”Please… save my son!”
The lady spoke again. Her face was bloody, it looked like something had hit her on the head too. She was probably awake because of sheer will power and the care for her child. Mikael bit his lip. He wanted to jump in. It would be the first reaction but they had to make a sensible decision. They had to find a way to save everyone. A hero wouldn’t be satisfied if anyone was left behind.
He would turn to Yui-chan again, and simply nod. Then he’d carefully slip through the broken window but not carefully enough though as one would tear his shirt from the back and another cut his skin. Immediately, he would begin to bleed but press on regardless.
He noticed a long iron bar on the ground and picked it up. It wasn’t exactly his bo but it would have to do.
”Stay calm everyone! We’re here. We’ll help you out”
The staff turned towards him, the lady too, and the child, almost in unison they replied:
”Hurry!! Save me!!”
The situation was unprecedented. He couldn’t help but feel the weight of six lives depending on him and Yui-chan.
Besides some debris, the path to the counter was fairly open. On one side, the glass blocked their way and on the other, the door didn’t open. So Mikael could think of only one to remedy the situation: “break the glass”.
Carefully, he would walk towards them with haste. He didn’t know how long the roof would stay put. They had to worry. Time was working against them.

Being brave was often mistaken for the absence of fear, but society was wrong. Being brave was not the absence of fear, it was doing what was right, what needed to be done in spite of the presence of fear. Was Yui afraid? Yes of course, who knew if there were more villains out there, who knew how long this building might hold out for. Yes she could always slip through the floor or wall if she needed to get away... But that would mean abandoning all these people to their fate. A hero had to try to save them, even if they failed for surely it was better to try and fail in the attempt than to merely do nothing.
His plan sounded like a solid one, far better than anything else she managed to think of. Yui flinched as the building let out a moan of pain, but did not come crashing down around them. Every second was vital and here she was picking her route carefully through the wreckage and twisted debris. She could have used her quirk to enter easily enough, but they were not supposed to use it unless gravely threatened and even then... It was difficult to say if they were in the legal right of it.
Yui glanced at the terrified mother and child. "I think together we can get those chunks of roof off... I don't have the strength to move the unconscious guy But your staff should work for the roof chunks." She told Mikael, her voice barely a whisper, the tiny Yui was not going to be able to drag a fully grown adult anywhere. Especially not in a place like this when time is of the essence. "Don't worry we're students from UA." She said loud enough for the civilians to hear. Try not to worry, for hope has arrived.
With that she headed over to the counter, avoiding cutting herself, though the back of her shirt snagged on a metal pole causing a tear horizontally across her back. It missed the skin fortunately. Reaching the counter, she grabbed the till and flung it at the glass. It shattered with a loud crash. "Get out of here." She told them. "Sorry for using the till it was the first thing I could think of." She added sheepishly.

While Mikael struggled to get close enough to use the metallic stick he had found; Yui simply ended up doing it quicker. As it happened, he couldn’t help but blankly stare at the broken glass and the fleeing cafe personnel with a dropped jaw.
”Aw man! I just made it here”, his frustration and inner monologue was visible on his face. But this was not the time to complain.
Three cafe staff: saved. Now, they needed to save the barely conscious mother and child, and the unconscious guy across the hall.
Yui was fairly closer to the two but Mikael was still at least twenty feet away from the guy. Several chunks of the roof fell and the mother let out another audible yelp:
Hurry! Help us!”
Time was working against them; and the structure wasn’t helping either. Mikael would frantically point to the lady and look at Yui without saying a word and then he would turn around. This time, dropping the careful approach completely.
Yui had saved three people with her ability to act quickly. He needed to learn from that.
Immediately, he would attempt to sprint to the unconscious guy on the ground but he would be interrupted with another large chunk of debris, falling in front and barely missing him. Wedging the metal bo between the roof and the floor, he would grab the arm of the injured male, wrap it around his neck and lift him up. He was dead weight and thus heavy; but Mikael could take it.
With the gentleman dragging his feet and Mikael lifting him and pulling, he managed to cover the hall and pull himself and his unconscious rescue out the broken glass window; right before the ceiling where the guy was a moment ago, gave way. Following Yui’s example and changing the way he had approached the situation had helped Mikael save someone’s life.
Eagerly, he would turn to look at Yui; hoping that she had made it too.
At the same time, in the background that Mikael didn’t notice because of the adrenaline rush and the tension of his current predicament was the near-victory of the hero.
As is expected of heroes, despite the tough opponent, he had managed to turn the situation and now was almost done with his adversary. The panicked crowd too had dispersed and the rescue teams were now flocking in. Organized rescue operations were being deployed left and right.
