THE BASICS

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Yui Lynne stands an unassuming four foot seven inches tall, with a slim almost skinny build. She has pink red hair and pink red eyes, she has soft pale white skin.  

PERSONALITY

Yui Lynne lives for her music, her greatest two favourite things in the world are singing and playing her guitar. Though she has aspirations of becoming a hero, she also hopes and desires to become a famous rock musician. Despite having the confidence to play in front of audiences, many would describe Yui as a distinctly quiet individual off stage. Yet it is her music which is able to enrapture her listeners as it gives voices to her thoughts and feelings. 

Due to her quiet nature, Yui has only a few close friends at UA High, though she knows that there are many who would consider her a friend of theirs. 

Yui finds it difficult to interact with other people and cannot stand being gossiped about. This is largely because her father was a diplomat who married an American divorcee (Yui's mom) when Yui was only a four. 
It is an interesting paradox of her personality, on stage she is perfectly content in being the centre of attention, off stage however she greatly dislikes it. 

Yui is not in contact with the father of her birth and views her step father as her actual father, since he was the man that raised her, helped her to learn Japanese and bought Yui's beloved guitar. She loves both of her parents greatly. 

She hates to be interrupted during practice, regardless as to the reason why. Though she is more than happy for those wishing to speak with her to sit in and listen till she has finished. 

Yui is a vegetarian and has been for as long as she can recall. Whilst she does not mind other people eating meat, she personally would not eat it. 
Her least  favourite subject is maths and she has a terrible phobia of spiders.  She is not a fan of formal events, preferring to not attend unless she happens to be playing there. 


She is a big fan of mangas and numerous different animes. Though she rarely talks about what she reads or watches on TV.

BACKGROUND HISTORY

Yui Lynne is a first year student at UA High but has already made a splash upon her arrival, this is due to her musical talent but also because she is the (step) daughter of a Japanese Diplomat. 

Yui was not born in Japan but on the other side of the world, to her American parents David and Mary Taylor. She does not recall much from this time, mostly as a result of her young age but also as the times were bad with her parents fighting. 
Their conflicts eventually led to the pair divorcing when Yui was only one. It would only be a couple of years later when Mary would be a Japanese Diplomat, Suri Lynne. The pair developed a connection straight away and Suri was very good with Yui, rapidly becoming the father figure in her life. Suri and Mary married when Yui was only four and relocated to Japan. 

It was difficult at first for Yui to adjust to Japan, for she struggled with the language. But with the help of her step father and the innate ability of a child to adjust to new situations she soon settled down and felt at home. 
Yui proved to be capable in regards to her education, though it seemed no amount of tutors would ever improve her woeful skill at maths. She was sent only to the finest schools, with her father sparing no expense for his daughter's education. 

It was her eighth birthday when Yui received her guitar, it had been a gift from her father when during a parents evening the music teacher revealed that Yui was very good with the instruments the school had. From then on Yui practiced every night, either by herself or with instructors. She also took part in singing lessons and was in the school choir. 

It was during middle school that Yui formed her first band, consisting of herself unfortunately. She intended to win the talent show with some of her more musically inclined friends, but they chickened out a couple of days before. Thus it left her alone to go on stage in front of the school and play. Yui did, she wowed the crowd with her music, it came as a surprise to no one save herself when she won the talent show. It was one of the proudest moments in her life. 

She played to crowds any chance she got from then on, be it charity events at school or outside on the street. Though whenever exams neared Yui was forced to focus on passing those, yet she still managed to find time to practice. 

Given that Yui possessed a quirk, despite both her parents being quirkless they were never the less delighted when she earned herself a place at UA High. 
Though given the distance between the family home and UA High, she would have to live on campus. Not that Yui minds too much living on campus, if anything she enjoys it as it means she can play more often. 

It is a regular sight to see Yui playing her guitar and singing, though there is a rumour circulating that she is hoping to set up a proper band at the school.

SUMMARY:

Yui Lynne possesses the ability to pass through solid matter by passing her atoms through the spaces between the atoms of the object through which she was moving. In this way she and the object through which she was passing could temporarily merge without interacting, and each was unharmed when Yui has finished passing through the object. This process can perhaps be best describe as phasing.




WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:

Yui cannot phase through moving objects, so for example she could not phase through a moving car or a closing door, the same would pass for weapons, she cannot phase through moving objects so she couldn't phase to avoid a bullet or a punch. 

In order to use her power Yui must hold her breath when doing so. Though each object she passes through leaves her breathless. (IE if she phased through a wall, she would need to catch her breathe ideally before going again.) As a result of this after passing through an object she requires 1 post to catch her breathe. 

Though she can push herself to pass through multiple objects (to a maximum of 4. It is the maximum amount she can use her power per thread), she will be drained, exhausted and incapable of passing through any others for the rest of the thread. She will be on the verge of blacking out from exhaustion and lack of oxygen. Enemies can force her to phase through objects to avoid their attacks/evade them thus leaving her immobile and an easy target.

Yui if she is holding her breathe, can pass through objects if she wants to go through them by imagining in her head that there is a door/window for her to go through. She tends to find this difficult to explain to others as it is something natural and innate to her.   

She cannot make others phase with her, if she is holding someone or they onto her, Yui cannot phase. The same applies if she is in a moving vehicle she cannot phase through it. Yui cannot phase if she is not holding her breath, if she tries to phase whilst breathing then she will not be able to  do so. If she exhales whilst in the middle of phasing, then she will be flung from the object she was phasing through, though the pain of it will render her unconscious instantly. (The longest time she can hold her breathe for is one post, which due to the nature of her powers she can attempt to do twice per thread. As phasing leaves her breathless afterwards, if a thread attempt is made she will fail and be rendered unconscious.)

Yui cannot phase through people, if she tries her mind with experience a backlash instantly knocking her unconscious.

SUMMARY:

Yui possesses considerable skill when it comes to music, specifically her guitar and her singing. She has been learning to play the guitar and having lessons both for it and singing since she was eight years old. Yui practises regularly, every night and if given the chance during the day will play her guitar at any opportunity which presents itself.
