RUMOR/SECRET: | A notorious thief, Zane is rumored to have snuck into the girls dorms, and stolen an article of clothing. What was stolen is up for speculation. |
Zane is a man of mysteries. When it comes down to it, he’s a decent enough guy who genuinely wants to be a hero. But on the other hand, he has some seriously sticky fingers. Students who don’t watch him will find their items have, in fact, gone missing.
Zane wants to be the best hero he can possibly be, and knows that the best way to do that is to cut out his nasty little kleptomania habit.
Zane loves animals, anything furry, or scaly he absolutely adores. Except pigeons. Rats with wings. Zane will actively avoid having to deal with these pests as much as possible. This stems to an event in his past where, without thinking, he used his quirk to call one of these into his hand. There were plenty of feathers, scratching, and defecating. Ever since, he has been terrified of the bird.
Zane usually spends most of his time outside, or on the internet looking at the latest hero gossip.
Zane will almost never take the easiest route through something. If he can come off as stylish or cool by coming up with a complex solution, he will.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | Tokyo, Japan |
PARENTS: | Nathan Cresswell Akari Hataro |
SIBLINGS: | Sayomi Hataro |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | N/A |
OTHER: | Fluffers the Rabbit |
Zane was born in the largest part of Tokyo, with his mother and twin sister. His father, an influential American businessman, continued living in the USA.
Zane would visit his father in the states once every 3 months, allowing the two to become close despite the distance between the two on an average day. Zane’s father taught him the importance of earning your own way in life. When he was 5, his quirk came in. The family was overjoyed by the discovery and soon found himself teleporting objects like screwdrivers and whatnot to help his mother with the cooking and cleaning. It wasn’t until she was 8 years old that their mother discovered that his sister was part of the minority of the population that was quirkless.
She was always a bright and happy child, but this changed her a bit. Now, she was scared of the world around her. Whenever Zane would play a prank on her, instead of laughing it off like she used to, she’d yell at him for it. He didn’t understand why, of course. He just knew that she wasn’t right anymore.
It wasn’t long until he and his sister went to visit America that he understood why. A villain attacked the business that his father was trying to start up. It was scary to him, but he had a quirk. He could’ve at least tried to defend himself if he needed to. His sister though? Defenseless. She couldn’t even rely on her father and him to save her.
The villains decided to trash the place and take his sister hostage. Zane tried to save her by teleporting her out of their grip, but the more he struggled, the more his hand felt like it was going to explode. Not only that, but the more he struggled the more it was like his head was trying to burst out of its casing. What was this? He felt wet just underneath his nose and touched a finger to it. Blood. One of the villains turned around and grabbed him. “Wot’s the matter, boy? Wanna join yer sister?” That wasn’t right. How did they know that she was his sister?
And that’s when the hero showed up. She tore into the building and began rounding up villains left and right. She saved the day! After this, Zane started training with his father to get better with his quirk, and get good enough to join a hero course. He wanted to be the best. If for no other reason than to protect his little sister.
Zane went through multiple classes to train up his skills while with his father. Accuracy training where his father would, after every days work, take him to a target practice area and have him throw knives without using his quirk. Soon, he became accurate enough that the targets weren’t much of a challenge for him. After that, he began working on his quirk training. His father would throw various objects at him, and if he didn’t catch it with his quirk, they’d try again. That’s actually how Zane lost part of his middle finger. His father, while cooking dinner, surprised him by throwing the knife. The weapon bit through flesh and bone like it was tissue paper. They spent several hours explaining to the doctor that it was nothing more than a cooking accident.
In addition, back home in Japan, he had to go through 3 different martial arts classes a week to ensure the best combat ability possible. He would go after school, and then focus on his training. Admittedly, this made his grades less than stellar; but he managed to keep up a surprisingly average score.
When his father realized that he was falling behind in classes, he was told to cut out portions of his training to make it work. “You will never become a pro if you don’t do well in school.” Through hard work, and dedication he managed to raise his GPA by enough that his father felt good about it.
Zane focused everything he had into training, but around the age of 13 he started feeling… different about it. He still wanted to be a hero, but… He wasn’t having fun. He had been training basically since that day, and while he was good, he didn’t know if his quirk was good enough to even be considered for the hero course.
So, he started… screwing around. He’d randomly use his quirk to steal small things off the street without people noticing, he’d dump buckets of water on people, he’d blow off training to pursue some dumb idea that he had. It got even worse when he hit puberty and girls were involved.
Finally, he applied for UA academy, and was surprised to find that he had been accepted. Throughout the entrance exam, Zane used his quirk to remove the nuts and bolts from the robots and managed to save one kid from certain doom when it nearly fell on top of him.
He was soon accepted into UA officially.

QUIRK & SKILLS
PRESTIDIGITATION
TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: D-
SUMMARY: Prestidigitation is a quirk that allows Zane to move an object of 40 pounds or less that he can see from wherever it is to his hand instantaneously. Additionally, items that Zane is currently carrying can be teleported without being in sight. When Zane teleports these objects, it is very important for him to keep his hands open or else whatever he teleports will phase into his hand or whatever he is holding at the time.
The most obvious application of this, is the one that Zane uses the most. He carries items like throwing knives, shuriken, and other small weapons on his person at all times. He can bring these items to his hands at any given moment. The biggest weapon that Zane carries is a shortsword, though this is a normal weapon and not at all enhanced.
This quirk can be used offensively by itself as well against an enemy with segmented parts, or to steal an enemies support gear.
Zane can to some extent throw items with more force than he should be able to apply directly after they are brought to his hand, allowing him to punch holes through 3 inches of solid oak wood with a simple iron throwing knife.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
Zane can only teleport 15 items before his muscles begin to strain and hurt to the point that moving them is unpleasant for anything more than simple motions.
If Zane attempts to teleport anything larger than 40 pounds, he will experience strain and continued effort will demolish the bones in his hands.
Overuse of the force amplification aspect of his quirk can cause severe bone damage, only allowing him to do it 9 times before he has to rest his arms.
His current maximum teleportation range for anything is around 75 feet.
Zane cannot teleport things when there is no space for the object to appear in his hands. For instance, he can’t teleport a knife while his hand is pressed up against someone. There has to be enough room for the item to appear without the risk of it being stuck into something. This includes organic, and inorganic material.
If someone is actively holding an item, he cannot teleport that away from them.

ACCURACY
RANK/LEVEL: D
SUMMARY:
Accuracy is a skill developed through time spent with his father who felt that it was necessary to train his quirk before he was even really trying to get into UA. This skill allows Zane to hit most things that he aims at. If it’s a still target, he’s almost guaranteed to hit it at least part of what he’s aiming at. Otherwise, it’s a 50/50 chance to hit.
The accuracy skill is only really usable up to a distance of about 60 feet before his accuracy fades.
AGILITY
RANK/LEVEL: D
SUMMARY:
Agility is a skill he has developed over time giving him faster reflexes and movement speed. When combined with his martial arts training, he can easily dodge punches and blows from slow and even normally quick opponents. He can also move up to 8 MPH in short bursts, and scale small obstacle courses with the best of them.
KARATE
RANK/LEVEL: D
SUMMARY:
Karate is a martial art focused on various strikes to deal damage to an opponent. Zane uses this to increase his ability to dodge, and deal damage Zane’s strikes can break wood and his kicks can crack bricks.
BOXING
RANK/LEVEL: D+
SUMMARY:
Zane took boxing as a way to better avoid his opponents. Through bobbing and weaving, he can use his karate strikes to deal some damage while ensuring that the enemy can’t hit him as easily. He uses this to get in close when his quirk isn’t available.
