Thanks to his years as a pro-hero, and just the blessing of genetics themselves, Booker is an extremely well-built man. Standing at a height of 6’2 with muscular physique, he cuts an imposing figure. This added with the thick, dark brown beard and mustache, as well as the crown full of short, dark locks which are swept back against his scalp, it is easy to see why most would fear him upon a first look.
But then he smiles. His smile is the warmest and the sweetest smile, the kind that lifts his round cheeks and makes his eyes squint behind his thick-rimmed glasses and into an expression of the purest of joys. Though built like a brickhouse, his genuine smile is enough to melt away the most deep-seated fears -- unless you are a criminal. Then his scowl only adds to his ferocity.
Clothing wise Booker dresses very professionally. Button up shirts, slacks, and loafers. He dresses nicely for his job and hopes that doing so presents him as a beacon of kindness and authority.
PERSONALITY
LIKES BooksQuiet Strawberries Music | DISLIKES ChaosRudeness Loud Noises Injustice |
RUMOR/SECRET: | Rumor has it that Booker's aunt is the supervillainess Necromoth. He will neither confirm or deny this when asked. |
Quirky is probably the best way to describe Booker. He is an all-around happy individual, one who loves to follow the beat of his own drum. It is a rare day when you don’t see a smile on Booker’s face and, whenever those days happen, you know something truly tragic has occurred. But, if anything, Booker has displayed an amazing amount of fortitude as he will quickly bounce back from such moments and still dazzle you with a smile and a well-meaning hug. However that is not to say that he doesn’t get angry.
These instances are few and far between but Booker has been known to get angry on certain occasions. Normally it takes a lot to make him angry but when a student is being unruly or things just haven’t gone his way, it just looks like Booker is having a terrible, awful, no good, very bad day. This will normally lead to him being a bit grumpy and growly but some kind words and baked goods will normally knock him out of the mood.
However, he has been known to reach levels of actual anger and usually these involve dealing with criminals who step over the line. Normally he’ll do his best to talk criminals out of making their situation worse but if they go so far as to actually threaten lives, Booker becomes extremely angry and extremely focused, enough that he becomes a force to be reckoned with.
Over all, Booker is just a nice guy who wants to have his quiet little corner of the world to read, organize his books, feed his guinea pig, and protect the innocent from harm. Any challenge to that and Booker will be ready to fight and defend at a moment’s notice.
BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | San Francisco, California |
PARENTS: | Noah Quill [Father], Misty Quill [Mother] |
SIBLINGS: | Cheryl Quill [Sister], Wally Quill [Brother] |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | Single |
OTHER: | Cashew [Guinea Pig] |
Hailing from the steep hills and foggy banks of San Francisco, California is the paper-manipulating hero, Booker Reed Quill, also known as, Librarian. Born from humble beginnings, Booker is the oldest son of Noah (Bibliopsychometry) and Misty Quill (Telekinetic) who were quiet bookstore owners. Together the duo had three children, Booker, Cheryl, and Wally, and within each of them they instilled common sense, kindness, and generosity. But Booker himself was the first to carry it a step further -- he wanted to be a hero.
It was one night when he was young. Booker was awakened from his slumber by the sounds of breaking glass. He and his family lived in a unit directly above their bookshop and so the noise stirred him from his sleep. Following it down, he found that his father was being held up. A robber had come in to steal what little money they earned. But before things could take a tragic turn, Booker was awestruck by the arrival of a local hero, the Iron Duke.
Booker watched in utter amazement as this hero threw himself into the fray, rescued his father, and seized the criminal. It was from that day on that Booker knew he wanted to be a hero and he was going to strive to do his best.
When his quirk developed, Booker was a youngster. He found that upon concentration, he could move and manipulate paper with his mind after touching it, as well as slightly change the properties of it, such as making paper thicker or thinner; all paper he touched was under his control. With the help of his parents, he was able to gain some control over his abilities but if he wanted to be a hero, like the Iron Duke or the Scarlet Sentinel, then he was going to have to gain even better control.
When it finally came time for Booker to go to high school there was only one option in his mind. A premiere school on the West Coast, he had set his heart on this school since he first decided he wanted to help people. It churned out heroes like the one that saved his father and it was only fitting that he attend the same school; the Golden Gate Hero Academy [GGHA].
Though his parents were worried, they knew that this was a path that Booker had laid out and they were not going to stand in his way. So when he got the news that he had been accepted, they were just as joyous as he was. This would be the first step of many that would lead Booker on his journey to herodom.
His schooling at the prestigious university was everything he dreamed it would be. The work was hard, yes, and the training even harder, but Booker crawled and fought his way through school. Over time his body grew strong, his mind stronger, and his powers came under control. He had friends, love interests, ups and downs, but through it all Booker smiled and surged on until finally he received that diploma in his hand.
He was going to be a hero.
Upon graduation Booker accepted a position with the Pro Hero that he interned under, the Scarlet Sentinel. As her sidekick, Booker temporarily took on the name, the Bookworm. It worked well while he was under Scarlet Sentinel’s agency but eventually Booker took off as his own hero and became the enigmatic paper hero, the Librarian!
For years Booker fostered his identity but he never really broke into the high rankings of the big professionals. The issue was that while he was a great hero, he preferred to remain local, to help out the little guys and offer his aid whenever the big names needed it. On top of that, he wanted to ensure that he didn’t receive too much notoriety as the last thing he wanted was to put his kindly parents, siblings, or their bookstore at risk. So Booker remained a local hero, helping his community (especially the local library) as the Librarian until opportunity knocked.
Booker wanted to see more of the world. As much as he loved being a hero, he wanted to do more for future generations of students. So while looking for ideas, eventually Booker came across a listing for a new job that snagged his attention. U.A. High School, the #1 school for heroics in Japan was looking for a librarian. An idea sprang to mind. His old boss, Scarlet Sentinel, was an alumni from there. While he didn’t need her to get him the job, it wouldn’t hurt to have a letter of recommendation.
And that is how it started. Booker applied for the librarianship at U.A. and along with Scarlet Sentinel’s word and his own history as a pro-hero, he was accepted. Now Booker is freshly moved to Japan, eager to start this new life and see what a whole new country and hero community has in store for him.

THE ARMORY
Pro-Hero costume - A standard, form-fitting costume that allows him freedom of movement, though doesn't offer a lot of protection. The only hefty parts of his costume are his gauntlets and his utility belt.
Utility Belt - This belt is specially made to have pouches that hold copious amounts of paper in either index card form or folded paper.
Gauntlets - Each forearm is garbed in a specially made gauntlet that holds several rolls of receipt paper. This allows Booker to fire off streams of paper that he can use for climbing, grappling, or swinging purposes.
Scratch and chip resistant glasses - Can never be too safe
A charmingly disarming smile
QUIRK & SKILLS
PAPERCRAFT
TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: B+
SUMMARY:
Papercraft is a quirk that allows the user mastery over paper. Whenever Booker touches paper with his bare skin, a type of electrical current is discharged from his body that allows him to exert control and affect the structure of the material. With only a thought he can shape and move it however he pleases. He can tighten the molecules of paper to make it thick and harder to break, he can loosen it to make it razor thin, or he can manipulate it in a mixture in order to make useful tools such as strips that can support his weight so he can swing from buildings, or weapons and armor to protect himself, or whatever designs required to suit his needs, so long as they are not overly complex (i.e. he can create a sword but not a gun made of paper).
So long as Booker remains in contact with paper, he can manipulate it to his heart's content, for as long as he is conscious. Once the paper leaves his hand, he only maintains control over it for 4 posts before the electrical charge dissipates and it returns to its original shape. But during these 4 posts, Booker can control the imbued paper he is not holding, allowing him to move it freely in open air in whatever ways he needs to, so long as he keeps eye contact with it. He can manipulate imbued paper for about 60 feet before the paper gets too distant for him to maintain control.
His years of practice in the field has allowed Booker access to a handful of moves that serve as his go-to for situations should they arise:
SPECIAL MOVES-
Confetti Cannon: With paper already imbued, Booker can focus all his energy into a single burst. What this does is cause all the imbued paper around him to collect in front of his open hands, shred itself up finely, and explode into a single direction. The shreds of paper hit with all the impact velocity of a rubber bullet and can be enough to stun or distract a foe.
Paper Mache Shell: In a last minute situation Booker is able to release a burst of energy that allows him to imbue all the surrounding paper to fly towards him and form a shell of last minute protection. However, this only lasts for 1 post before the paper collapses and leaves him exposed. The durability of Paper Mache Shell is on par with wearing a suit of protective padded armor. He can take blunt attacks with no pain while it lasts, allowing him to survive from falls or punches. Slashing attacks with cut gaps into the shell but it is multiple layers damage will be minimal.
Paper Shredder: In the opposite effect when compared to 'Paper Mache Shell' when Booker releases a burst of energy, instead of pulling it towards him, he can cause a maelstrom of paper to lift up and whip around him in storm of razor sharp paper. The damage is equivalent to being cut by shards of glass, easily cutting skin and shredding clothes. Anything more durable like stone or wood will have chips cut out but won't do as much damage. And these will do no damage to metal. Also good for protection and for dealing with multiple enemies, but again, only lasts for 1 post.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
For as amazing as Booker’s mastery over paper is, it does have its drawbacks. For one, he cannot create paper from nothing. Booker needs a supply of paper for him to work from. This means that he needs to be around paper for his abilities to activate, which means that he needs to either carry paper with him or be some place where there is paper readily available. If he is in a situation where there is no paper around, then he will certainly be at a disadvantage.
Surprise, surprise, Booker is incredibly weak against fire. While he has mastery over paper both in and out of hand, if paper is burned then he begins to lose his hold over it as there is less material for his imbued charge to manipulate. Charred paper is also less durable and any attempts to move it will decrease the amount of time he can manipulate it even further as it begins to crumble and fall apart.
Pre-soaked paper (paper that has been made sodden before he can imbue it) is also difficult to control, though not as impossible as charred paper. Where he can manipulate paper in a dry paper in a 1 post, wet paper takes 2-3 posts to have mastery over. Once under his control he can wring it out but it will still be more difficult to control when compared to fully dry paper.
The durability of his papercrafts fully depends on what he has put into them. He can form effective weapons and armor on the fly but they have to be simple designs (i.e. sword, padded armor, etc.). If he attempts more complicated designs (i.e. chains, samurai armor, etc.) that requires more effort to design, at least 2 posts before being completed.
Also, on-the-fly paper weapons and armor are only about 3/4 as effective as their real-life counterparts. Example, if it has a paper katana versus a real katana, he can deflect a few blows but eventually the real sword will cut through.
While skin-on-contact paper remains in his control, imbued paper that has left his hand only remains under his control for about 4 posts. After 4 posts, his hold quickly fades and the paper returns to its normal state of being as regular paper.
Lastly, Booker can only manipulate so much paper at a time. He can create up to three objects or manipulate up to 12 ft of paper at one time with ease. As he attempts to manipulate more than that, he will begin to tire. He is able to release bursts of energy that allow him to imbue surrounding paper, however, once he does so, Booker will be dizzy and unfocused for at least 2 posts before he can act and even then, he’ll need a rest or he’ll fall unconscious.
The total amount of time that Booker can use his quirk to manipulate paper consecutively is 9 posts. Afterwards, he becomes exhausted and won't be able to imbue any more paper until he takes a lengthy rest.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
RANK/LEVEL: A-
SUMMARY:
Thanks to his years as working as a Pro-Hero, Booker is a fairly trained and competent fighter. Employing the use of mixed-martial arts (which is a hybrid of techniques from boxing, wrestling, judo, jujitsu, karate, Muay Thai (Thai boxing), and other disciplines, he is able to fend off multiple foes and some even bigger than him.
RECALL AND COMPREHENSION
RANK/LEVEL: B+
SUMMARY:
Because Booker is a lifetime reader, he does have a sharp mind when it comes to recalling information that he has read or understanding it clearly. He wouldn't be a good librarian otherwise.
DRIVING
RANK/LEVEL: C
SUMMARY:
No one really drove in San Francisco (the hills were too steep). Though he does know the basics of what to do behind the wheel, Booker is barely an average driver. He prefers to walk or take public transportation, but he's willing to learn to be a better driver.
GUITAR
RANK/LEVEL: C+
SUMMARY:
Booker loves music but hasn't always had the easiest time learning it. He is about average when it comes to playing and hopes to find more time to continue learning.
SWORDMANSHIP
RANK/LEVEL: B
SUMMARY:
Thanks to his training with Scarlet Sentinel, Booker is a very good swordsman. He practices regularly and is able to fight with paper-made swords. These are his go-to weapon when on the field.
QUARTERSTAFF
RANK/LEVEL: C+
SUMMARY:
More training thanks to his former boss, Booker is competent with a staff. They are the quickest weapon to make but Booker tends to rely on his swords as a weapon, but in a pinch he can fight with a paper-made staff as well.
BLUNT WEAPONRY
RANK/LEVEL: D
SUMMARY:
Clubs, bats, mace, etc., Booker is adept at uses these but really anyone can swing a club. He can rely on it as a last resort.
KNIFE THROWING
RANK/LEVEL: B-
SUMMARY:
Booker has fairly good aim with knives. When he makes a paper knife, he can hurl it with pretty good accuracy and hit his targets. His glasses can make it difficult however so he still practices whenever he can in hopes of improvement.
