If anyone was looking, the small rotund student that looked for all the world like a bipedal 3 ft tall bushy raccoon dog carrying the lunch tray was a bit comical. Forget the tray, the bowl on top of the tray looked huge compared to the furry student. He could have worn it as a hat if it wasnt filled with Udon noodles in soup, beef, veggies and a sliced boiled egg. While it was just a large portion, in comparison to Youta it was impressive. He licked his furry lips as he carefully carried it toward the tables. He looked around and spotted a table where a few other students were eating and walked over, giving his food attention to make sure it didnt spill.
"Hello. May I eat here?"

Filling One's Face... Kyoko had only just started adjusting to his new life on campus; and if he was being honest with himself -which he always tried to be- it was awesome. He was still in the process of making new friends, but meeting Mitsuko on his first day here had been a total gift. The cheerful young lady had not only been friendly and outgoing; but also a font of useful information about the school that she was only too happy to share. He had been taking her shortcuts for the past few days and so far hadn't gotten lost once, something that he was keen to point out whenever they ended up hanging out again. She would be so proud of him, at least he hoped she would.
Like today for example; he managed to make it homeroom 10 minutes early, if a little rumpled. Of course being rumpled had nothing to do with running late or anything, it was just because the school uniforms weren't exactly the most... flexible of attire. After vaulting over a pair of ledges and sliding down one railing -ONE- he'd managed to put wrinkles into the shirt and a dusty colored shading on his right thigh. It wasn't that noticeable, at least that's what Kyo kept telling himself; but the raised eyebrow he got from his homeroom teacher indicated that he might be wrong. Never the less, he'd been pleased with how the day had turned out so far. The school work was challenging but interesting, the kind of thing he was pretty sure he'd have to study to know well; but he'd never been afraid of hard work. And thanks to his obsessive -and 100% nessesary- note taking skills, he would have plenty of material to work with.
Now his lunch was half-eaten -having killed the fish and rice before his brain could get side tracked and leaving some sort of dumpling and soup thing cooling on the tray- and Kyo found himself distracted by tonight's history homework. He was balanced on the back two legs of a chair and staring towards the ceiling (or his phone, which was between him and the ceiling) tapping links with the thumb of his left hand while his right idly spun a chopstick between his fingers. The din of talking in the room was both a mild distraction, and kind of white noise that filled the air around him, easy to tune out en mass but hard to ignore on point. Which is how he managed to hear the other student asking a question.
Kyo blinked a few times, glancing over and taking in the furry appearance of the other as he tried to put the pieces together in his head. He realized a few things after a moment; the first, was that the racoon looked familiar, he was pretty sure they were in the same class. The second, was that while he had recognized a question being asked -something about the tone of voice- he didn't actually hear the words. And the third, he'd now been staring for much longer than was polite; probably with a look of blank confusion on his face.
“Hello. What? Sorry. I wasn't paying attention and I didn't actually hear what you said...” He managed a sheepish shrug and his best unsure-but-game smile. “I'm Kyo Mori. Nice to meet you.” Kyo held out a hand -the gesture for meeting new people habitual to him at this point- and lowered the chair back to the ground.

Youta looked at the other boy and then at the hand and then at his tray. Well this was awkward. The accent, the rude way he balanced his chair, the way he played with his chopsticks, it was obvious the boy was foreign, most likely American. So pretty too. This Kyo even admitted to not listening. Still, honesty was good and it wasn't Youta's way to judge. At least the other man was somewhat friendly and had a playful air about him. Youta was just getting started here and was trying to get used to the people, who seemed nice enough if a bit self absorbed. Everyone was so focused on themselves. He understood this was how big city people were but it was hard to get used to coming from a place where there were only a hundred people or so and everyone knew each other. He remembered Kyo from lass, and the way he looked like he wanted to chew on something when he was concentrating. His seat wasnt that far away and Youta could see the other student clearly. At least the other boy wasnt staring as much as just elsewhere. Not that Youta cared. He was used to it.
He slid the tray into the free spot on the table and then took a step back and bowed lightly.
"konichiwa, Kyo Mori. I am Youta Nishimura. I sit three chars from you. May I join you at the table to eat?"
He then reached out and shook the hand, using two hands as he had seen the monks do. Big smile with all his wonderful canineish teeth. Big bright eyes. Never mind that he as looking up even when he was standing and the other was sitting.

Filling One's Face... “Nice to meet you Nishimura-san, and yea, yes, please feel free.” Kyo gestured to the empty chair with a smile once hand shaking was done. His Japanese was crisp and clean, but definitely not his native language, and based on the accent 'American' was indeed a solid guess. “I uh- sorry about that... I tend to hyper-focus on things. In this case, one of tonight's homework assignments.” On the surface at least, the Japanese-American seemed to have an open and honest personality, even if others sometimes called him a little flighty.
Now that he was actively paying attention attention again, Kyo gave the diminutive student a better once-over, taking in the different features in his classmate. Man, quirks were really something else, mutation quirks most of all. Before he could stop the gears turning in his head, the blonde found himself trying to jump through the mental hoops of what this particular quirk might do. To be fair, nothing was technically a possibility, but with how much of a pain the UA Entrance Exams were for the Hero Course, he had to believe that there was more to the other boy than met the eye.
“I thought I recognized you from class. I just arrived the other day, so I haven't had a chance to meet many people yet. The coursework and training have kept me busy enough that I'm starting to wonder if I'll have any kind of a social life.” He chuckled and ran a hand through tousled hair.

The small student jumped up on the chair, sat on his haunches so he could see over the bowl of noodle soup. He pulled out his chop sticks and laid them in place. Then his hands went together an he bowed his head, uttering the common little prayer of "thank you for this food, lets eat". Then he looked up at the other boy.
"Thank you. It can be good to focus on what you have to do. Are you finding the curriculum difficult? I just transferred so I am working from behind and just getting started. I am still at what you all studied months before. If its too difficult I might have to ask someone for notes. Do you and the others have study groups or the like?"
He had always worked mostly by himself, not fitting in as much as some did. He didnt mind it. But of course this was a different level. These were Hero students. It would be best to get to know the all and be able to work with them as well as possible. Plus, being by yourself was sometimes inflicted on one and could be endured even used to enlighten and improve oneself in mind and spirit. But it was so much more fun if you had people to play with.
"So you are new as well? How long have you been here?"
The problem with sitting like this is it left his tail free. Yes, it felt better to have it free but he had no idea what it was doing behind him He learned early to give up on games where people could read your emotions. It was possible of course to control it, but when he didnt think about it, the dang thing did what it wanted. Like the way it slowly twitched now, like a cat who was paying close attention to something interesting.
