RUMOR/SECRET: | can be minor/major, something about them that's whispered in the streets~ |
Jiro is an ambivert who is often paranoid of his surroundings. This is a result to his quirk, because the feeling and knowing of when someone is going to die is burdening. Because of this, he likes to drown his troubles away in music.
Music drifts him away into another world where nothing else matters except the musical notes that fill the air. The messed up world we live in no longer exists, and Jiro can be wherever he wants to be.
If he's not drowning away his sorrows, he is a kind and semi-social high school student just trying to get by. He tried to be as cheery as he can, which isn't very cheery, and is considerate of others. He works hard to meet up to his expectations, usually resulting in overworking and insomnia, but he is okay with it. Jiro prefers neatness over messiness, although he could live with it, and is a hardworking young man trying to shape his future in the right way even though he isn't sure what that future is.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | Musutafu |
PARENTS: | Sakura and Haru Kuroda |

Jiro was born and raised in Musutafu. He was anything but a normal toddler! He was very naughty and hyper, knocking over expensive items, running around the house like a crazy person, pooping on the floor, you name it. His parents struggled very hard to get him to learn anything before school started, and so when he finally had to go, he was a bit behind, manner-wise and smart-wise.
The first half of preschool was a nightmare. Jiro was sent to the principal's office multiple times for pushing kids and being too rowdy in the classroom and on the playground. His parents were called in three times in that time period! But it wasn't all that bad. He did end up making one good friend, a blonde-haired short kid named Haruto. Haruto liked to play basketball and use Hula-Hoops, and so did Jiro, so they had lots of fun together in that first half of the year.
When the halfway mark of the school year started to pass by, Jiro's quirk began to develop unknowingly. Nobody around him was dying, so it was never activated until one sunny afternoon when he was waiting for the bus with Haruto.
Haruto and Jiro had been gossiping about the kinds of quirks people were getting and what they may get. Looking around, they snickered at the others around them, guessing what they may get.
"She looks like she'll get some kind of sparkle quirk! Look at her dress!" said Haruto, pointing to a girl a few feet away from them.
"I can see that," began Jiro, "or maybe her quirk will just make her extra weird!" Both of them laughed, loud enough for the girl next to them to hear.
"Hey! What are you laughing at?" she said in a high pitched voice. Her face had a contorted look of frustration and sadness, a tear beginning to well up in her eye.
It was then at this time that Jiro began to feel a small push on his gut. Jiro noticed it immediately, but didn't take too much note of it. "Oh nothing," he said. "Just at that ugly dress you're wearing." Both Jiro and Haruto laughed again, but this made the pushing on Jiro's gut feel worse. He wheezed a little bit. "Hey, something hurts," he whispered to Haruto.
"What does?" Haruto asked back, completely dismissing the girl behind him. The girl's face turned bright red. "Hey!" she yelled, crying now. "You can't just say something like that then turn away! You're so mean!"
Haruto turned back to the girl and put on a smug smile. "It's not me, it's just that you're too sensitive," he said.
By then, Jiro's pain had increased to a very painful stinging. He crouched and winced. What was happening to him?
The girl roared, now extremely angry at Haruto. "I am not!!" Then she pushed Haruto into the street just as the bus drove up. Wham! Haruto flew back about ten feet. Jiro ran over to him. He had a small dent in his skull, and blood was dripping out of his mouth. Jiro's physical pain was now gone. He searched for a pulse, but found none. Haruto was dead.
Jiro was sent into a spiraling depression for about a week before being able to go back to school again, but from that day on Jiro would never be the same.
Three days after the incident, Jiro went to the doctor and got his quirk identified: Morbid Curiosity. Jiro was beside himself. He didn't want the pressure and pain of knowing when someone will die! What a crummy quirk, it didn't even help him. He wondered what Haruto's quirk would have been. His parents could fly, so maybe that's what he would have gotten if he were still alive.
Without his best friend, Jiro wasn't so rowdy anymore. It just wasn't the same. He sat still, sometimes cried, and was mostly quiet. Jiro noticed that the environment around him preferred him that way, and Jiro kind of liked being calmer, so he began to, simply put, be better.
Throughout elementary school, his grades shot up. He was more respectful to his teachers and turned in his homework on time. He wasn't crazy at recess and best of all, he never hurt anyone's feelings. He was worried something might happen like last time.
Jiro was pretty smart by the time he got to middle school, and by that time, he had heard some people start to toss around the word "nerd" behind his back. They didn't know what Jiro used to be... and Jiro hated people calling him that. But he also didn't want to go naughty again, the consequences were too harsh (to Jiro). So he began to lift weights.
Music also became a big part of of Jiro's life in middle school. With a new environment came bigger loads of homework, and it helped him study. Soon enough, the other kids began to notice that Jiro almost always had a earbud in one ear. Including in class. Jiro's grades began to drop, and he couldn't figure out why.
When he figured out that music was the problem, he had a hard time pulling away from it. It helped him not think about anything else that was stressful, and without anything streaming into his ears, he was a bit of a disaster.
Jiro went from an excellent student to an average student throughout sixth and seventh grade, and he struggled to get back at the top. But in eighth grade, he had discovered the wonderful gift of Brown Noise. Although this helped, he still had noise in his ear. He went from being an average student to a great student, but still not excellent. This was good enough for Jiro.
Nearing the end of eighth grade, the school held a fundraiser lottery, and Jiro won. He won two tickets to a theme park, meaning he could bring a friend along with him. Friend? Uh. Jiro was so caught up in his schoolwork that he hadn't even tried to make any friends.
The next day, mostly every person in his grade acted super friendly to him. Anybody that knew him the slightest would call him "Bestie" or "Bro" or anything else that related to friendship. Jiro was extremely uncomfortable. He knew what they wanted, and he wasn't sure who to give the ticket to.
Jiro didn't know what to do. So he did the one thing that threw the entire school into a frenzy: he threw away the ticket in one of the school trash cans. Not only was all the students really pissed at Jiro, they were digging through every trash can possible for the entire week trying to find that precious ticket.
Jiro ended up going by himself and had a lot of fun, although something felt... off. He had fun on a lot of rides, and he stuffed himself on kettle corn, but he didn't have anybody to enjoy it with. Jiro suddenly missed Haruto more than ever. He left the fair with only two hours of being in it.
His freshman year of high school came, and he was doing great in his classes. He was on a roll, and he thought nothing could stop him until something threw him off balance. Jiro met a girl. They were in the same science class together, and she had come up to Jiro and asked about an assignment due date. Jiro's heart fluttered out of his chest and his mind went blank.
"Uh," he began, "I um- heh, excuse me- its due Thursday I think." Jiro coughed and blushed the slightest. He didn't even know this girl's name and he was acting so weird. What was this?
"Thank you so much, Jiro!" the girl beamed, then began to walk away. Jiro hesitated to hold out his hand.
"W-wait!" he stuttered in awe. The girl turned around and smiled at him, her auburn hair glittering from the sunlit window beside her. Jiro lost his train of thought for a second, but then it was back on it's tracks a second later. "U-uh, could I get your, um, name?"
The girl closed her eyes and smiled, then chuckled a little bit. "You don't know already?" Her bright blue eyes opened, twinkling in the light. "My name is Aiya," she responded. Then Aiya turned around and walked to her next class.
When Jiro got home that day, he spent a solid hour on his bed pondering that feeling that came over him. He felt like he didn't know, but deep down his his heart he knew what happened: he had developed a crush for Aiya at first sight. Wasn't that fun.
Throughout his freshman and sophmore year, he continued to do well in his classes and gain a strong friendship with Aiya. It seemed like they were the best of friends: they would eat lunch together, collaborate on assignments together, and sometimes visit each other's houses to hang out. They both even learned to drive together.
At the beginning of his junior year, Jiro had been in love with Aiya for so long, he thought it was finally time to tell her how he felt. He hadn't seen a lot of affectionate signs from Aiya, but he had seen a few, and they had known each other for so long now that they knew each other like the back of their hands. Aiya is kind, she has a birthmark on the bottom of her collarbone, she has a powerful lava quirk, and lots more. Maybe she felt the same.
So a few days later, Jiro sat down with Aiya at lunch. Both of them were taking out their food when Jiro spoke up.
"So, Aiya, there's something I need to tell you," Jiro began.
"Shoot," she responded.
Jiro took a shaky breath. "I've been feeling this way the day that I met you, and it's only grown with every day we're together... I love you, Aiya." He paused for a second to take another breath. "Do you feel the same way?"
Jiro's mood fell like a stone when he saw Aiya's face. It was a face that was slightly pained, but mostly looked sorry for the person she was looking at. And that person was Jiro.
"Jiro, don't get me wrong, I really do like you," she started, "but I don't feel any romantic attraction to you. I like it that we're just friends. Okay?" She smiled sympathetically, her eyebrows curving upward.
"O-of course," Jiro said quietly. "Sure, yeah." They ate the rest of their lunch in an awkward silence.
When Jiro got home, he fell on his bed. Tears welled in his eyes the slightest bit. He knew that he didn't ask to date her or anything, but it was pretty much the same thing as the commonly used term: he had been friend zoned. Rejected.
Jiro and Aiya didn't hang out for the next few days. It would have just been too awkward. After that, Jiro still cared for Aiya, but he no longer felt attracted to her. It was a platonic relationship, and that was the way they liked it.
Jiro got a job as a barista at the local cafe, and suddenly it felt like he had no more time to hang out with Aiya. He was always at work or doing homework... it was all just work work work. But Jiro felt like he needed money, there wasn't any particular reason, he just felt like he needed some currency in his pockets. Over a few months, Jiro and Aiya's friendship faded away, and Aiya was now a memory to Jiro. Their relationship completely ended when Aiya transferred to the second-greatest hero school, Shiketsu High School. Jiro guessed that a regular civilian life wasn't good enough for her, then never thought of her again.
At present day, Jiro is working hard to earn money in the cafe and be a successful junior in high school. He is constantly alert of his surroundings if he doesn't have his earbuds in, and constantly preferring others. Don't be afraid to have a chat with him, he has a lot to offer.

QUIRK & SKILLS
Morbid Curiosity
TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: D-
SUMMARY:
Jiro can sense when somebody is going to die within 60 seconds of it happening. When his quirk is triggered, he feels a deep, stinging pain in his gut. This feeling starts out small, then deepens harder and harder, inflicting more pain until the targeted person dies. This applies to anybody in Jiro's field of vision.
DISCLAIMER: THIS QUIRK DOES NOT KILL PEOPLE, IT ONLY SENSES WHEN THEY WILL DIE. USED ONLY WITH CONSENT OF OTHER ROLEPLAYER / SOLO PURPOSES.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
Jiro cannot turn off his quirk, and the only upgrade possible to his quirk is to lessen the pain in his gut when activated. If someone is bound to die, then the pain he feels will be there and he cannot stop it. Jiro also cannot tell who will die unless there is only one other person in the room / field of vision. He cannot sense his own death.
This quirk does not in any way affect Jiro's physical stamina, but instead his mood and behavior. Because of the paranoia and pressure of knowing when someone will die, this effects Jiro by making him paranoid, slightly shy, and have some introverted features. More about this in his personality.

Multitasker
RANK/LEVEL: C+
SUMMARY:
Jiro can do multiple things at a time without much thought, efficiently getting things done in a timely manner. He can do up to four tasks of mindless working (ex: washing dishes, vacuuming, fetching an item) and two tasks that need actual thinking (ex: homework, talking, driving)
