Jun was lounging around in the back of the dormitory for 1-A. He had heard rumors of more new students. How many did that make? Some of which were for them too. Luckily, or unluckily, he hadn't met any of them yet to give a tour. Not that he minded it, it just wasn't something he thought he would be doing for everyone. It was basically a requirement anymore. Instead of having either of the class's reps do it, it was him, the Sports Festival champion. It had become something of a running gag at this point. He was sitting down on the grass with his laptop on the bench in front of him, wearing a tie-dye T-shirt, bright, metallic cyan shorts, and bright pink sneakers. His laptop's bag was beside him. And he was just modeling a medieval town, one with a vaguely Middle Eastern culture/theme. It was coming along nicely, and he hadn't had any interruptions. The only break he had was to grab a quick bite and a drink, and that was it. Not a single soul or student around to bother him.
His time with Firebrand, while short, did kind of let him know that he needed to work on his people skills. Without realizing it, he did to Sigga what he despised...he bullied her. He had since made attempts to make sure that she knew that he felt horrible about it, and wanted to make up for it. So far, he didn't know what she was thinking. It was at this line of thought that he felt someone behind him. Leaning back so that he was laying down, he looked to see who it was...

Sam looked around the domitory, glad it was mostly empty. Her room was a futon and a large stack of boxes currently. Unpacking felt like so much work. She knew she'd have too, this was her home now. But currently it felt alien, full of scary people that would swiftly fear and hate the monster living their midst. Her mind knew those thoughts were just anxiety playing with the unknown space around her, but that didn't make the feelings much easier to deal with. It didn't help that her fears brought up some valid points, if there was someone she couldn't get along with, living in a close space would be nerve wracking. Plus her head was filled with American and British shows about dorm life. Sure things there were likely exaggerated, but then life could be stranger than fiction sometimes.
No, the best she could do was feel the emotions and let them run their course through her, she'd feel better afterwards. It was why she'd opted to come to UA a little early. She was in the exact state she expected, a bit of blubbering mess after saying a final goodbye to her family. Her mom had scrounged up ingredients for a box of homemade jam lamingtons. They didn't taste quite right, but it made sense cocoa in Japan would be different to Australia. She'd munched two to feel better, but it would be best to save the rest to icebreak her classmates.
She'd ben deciding whether she needed to label them in the fridge when she looked out the dorm windows. There was that boy again, outside... she wasn't sure if it was the 1-A or 2-A dorms, they were either side of 1-Bs. He'd been on his laptop longer than she'd been pacing, focused on something. She doubted it was anime... She knew he looked familiar, but then to help prepare herself she'd watched the sports festival. Not all the way through, her dread when it would be her turn seized her and her focus issues didn't help.
Deciding misery alone was worse than awkward company, Sam wrapped one of the lamingtons in a napkin, splashed some water on her face and looked in the mirror. Her eyes were red and still a little puffy, but there was no helping that. She was wrapped in some some pink joggers and a bright yellow hoodie. Comfortable, concealing... if one ignored the spinal plates, the constantly dragging tail and her scaled feet which shredded most footwear. Courage mustered.
She walked up to him quietly, she had a knack for coming upon people while they were distracted, though she was still consumed in her thoughts and hadn't realised her shadow had covered him until her rolled backwards, forcing her to come to a jarrring halt or risk kicking his head. She looked down at him, momentarily confused, before holding how the napkin wrapped pastry.
'G'day, I'm Sam, would you like a lamington?' she said in crisp english.

For such a large person, she sure was quiet. Not exactly a bad thing, especially if she was in the hero courses. Come to think of it, he was pretty sure this was the new 1-B student that a lot of folks were talking about. A monster of a lady. Well, she did have monster like parts, and could have issues in cities, but she looked nice and pretty cool really. It kind of inspired him to make a character or two similar to her. She looked like she was holding a pastry of some kind, and then she introduced herself. Lamington? The hell was that? "Hi...I'm Jun...and sure, I'd love to try one, I've never heard of them before..." He responded back in American English.
Sam's accent didn't sound like British English, though. Standing up at his tiny five foot five inches of height, he plucked the pastry and tried it. Coconut initially his taste buds, then chocolate, the sponge cake, and strip of strawberry jam. The sports festival champion tried to hold in his potentially inappropriate moan...these lamington things were delicious! With stars in his eyes, he looked up at her with his big green eyes in a puppy dog look. "May I have some more? Those were delicious!" He was a sucker for pastries and anything sweet. It was a small miracle he didn't have any cavities or anything in his teeth. Heck, he was a sucker for good food in general, but especially anything sweet.

'M-maybe?' Sam paused, she hadn't really expected such a strong response, nor one in English. She didn't know the twang, Sam was never good with accent. Sam looked down at Jun. Even standing he was enveloped in her shadow. At appropriate height for an anime hug, even if a rack like that only belonged to her in her dreams. 'Could we speak in Japanese though? I need the practice,' She then flipped back into her heavily accented japanese.
'I need to save some for when I start classes. My mom...' Sam trailed off, fighting back an immediate homesickness. It would pass, but for now UA seemed just so intimidating and unfamiliar. Her attention snapped back, 'my mom gave me some as a parting gift, a bit of a taste of home.' Sam forced herself to smile, 'but I guess one more couldn't hurt for now. They were meant to be icebreakers. Come on, they're in my dorm.'
Sam tried to sound enthusiastic, but it was hard. That sense of separation, you had to fight to remember that it was temporary, but it did feel a little like abandonment even though coming to UA was her idea. And she knew she couldn't look sad, people were supposed to be happy to go to UA. Besides if she wanted to make friends, she had to project a good first impression. That's what people did? No one would want to be around someone they thought was sad all the time, which she wasn't. It was just an inconvenient timing. But then that was life. She needed to give herself time to adjust... while making everyone think she already had.
She paused at the back door to the 1-B dorms and looked to Jun, 'Is there a rule against letting other classes into your dorm? I've never really bunked away from home before.'

Jun nodded, and like a flip being switched, he went right back to Japanese. He's always been a sucker for sweets. But at the same time..."They're a delicious icebreaker, but it might not be a bad idea to leave some for yourself. Much of a sucker for chocolate and sweets as I am, I don't want to take too many of your gifts from home. You really don't have to..." Jun walked over to his laptop and saved his progress, then shutting it down. Food was always a good icebreaker, but you also had to balance out what you wanted for yourself and what you use for just that. The big girl seemed kind of shy though. Jun was pretty approachable though, so an icebreaker usually wasn't needed.
Still, the invitation was made. "I don't mind going, but really, as much as I like those lamington things, I don't want to gobble up your entire stash. I'm Jun Tomoshibi, by the way. And far as I know, there isn't, so long as everyone is playing by the rules, there shouldn't be an issue." And if someone thought about him going with her for a tryst...well, they were really bloody stupid. More so be cause he was as gay as the sun was bright. While it would normally be a guess as to what the sports champ's quirk was if it weren't for said sports festival, he could probably guess this lady's quirk. Sheer size and strength, kaiju like appearance...mutation types were normally easy to figure out. Still, he'd hate to get on her bad side.

In time, many would learn that the idea of Sam having a bad side was one of those conceptual impossibilites, like the Cheshire Cat leaving his smile behind. She tended to take a lot on herself. It made her incredibly difficult to rile, but easier to upset. At this point in time though, the more immediate concern was the lammingtons.
Sam shook her head, 'They don't taste quite right, but I think that's from the local ingredients.' She looked down eagerly at the shorter Jun, 'd-does that mean you know some good places to get food?' She blushed a little, well aware of how plump she was, especially when compared to him. 'I-i find a good meal perks me up, b-but I don't really know my way around here, and... well... I kinda get a little anxious in strange places.'
It was an odd confession Sam admitted, but perhaps that would shrug Jun off realising just how stressed she was. It was scary, to be in a new country, new home, new school, trying to fit in while also being quiet about her own transitioning. She didn't really want to hide it, but knew it could be... polarising... Not a point to hide, just one to mention a bit later. She doubted there'd be anyone like that at UA, but it was hard to feel open about it. It didn't help that Jun was kinda cute, and didn't seem to have the automatic intimidation that most people felt around her. But she had more things to worry about, like unpacking all her boxes in her room, making that a safe space, and then gradually doing that to the dorm.
Introspection over, she offered a nervous smile, 'I don't mean to sound like I think it's a bad place, just... it's a whole lotta firsts for me, I only just moved in this morning.'

Ah, so she tried to make some herself. "That could be. Trying to find the exact ingredients could get daunting, and ordering it all online could get expensive." Just as he was about to start walking, he was asked a question. Perking right up, Jun spoke honestly. "You bet I do! I can show you everywhere, too! It's no problem, most of the places I go to also have friendly people working there, so that'll surely help ease that anxiety." Hopefully. He didn't have that issue. Good meals helping out though...that was something they both had in common. Hopefully his openness was also helping her out a bit. Seeing as it seemed like she wasn't just in a new school, but a whole new country as well.
He listened to her. "That's understandable, and pretty normal. More so if you're from another country. I have family in America, so we do go visit over there. It just takes time and getting used to it. Having decent people around you helps a lot too. Though we're also here to become heroes. If you intend to use support equipment, assuming you're also a hero student, I know someone you should meet for that. I can also give you a tour of the place, along with some shortcuts." There are a few shortcuts though that she likely wouldn't be able to use due to her size. But it never hurts to be friendly.

A guide sounded like a good idea. Sam was fairly good at remembering locations and directions, so learning her way around once would help her gradually cement the local geography in her head. It also helped to know Jun was from another country and could empathise, though it sounded like he didn't really grasp how nervous she was. But then, she didn't want it to contaminate first impressions. She didn't want people to think she was a whiner or too needy. She knew she'd be positive and happy once she adjusted.
Wait.. support equipment?
'Well... I don't know, I haven't really thought about it all that much. I kinda... well... didn't originally intend to be a hero... but when things happen... I wanna make sure no one gets hurt. A local hero suggested I enroll before I got myself seriously hurt. You know, if I'm going to do it anyway, I should learn how to do it safely. I don't really know what I have to offer beyond being a wall, let alone thing about what could help' She was aware of the number of cuts and scars on her back from shielding others. While Sam felt a little useless about it, there were worse instincts than protecting others.
'I'd like to meet them though, I need to make more friends if UA is going to feel like home.' Sam tried to fake a smile, showing Jun some sharp teeth, 'Just let me grab a few things from my room.'
Same waited for an acknowledgement from Jun before heading upstairs. There were some gentle creaks from the floor under her weight as she gathered a shoulder bag with some things, including a small plushie if she got stressed out too much. She didn't want to keep Jun waiting and turned around to go back downstairs.

Jun listened to her thoughts. Though he did notice that the smile was forced...fake. Nodding, he waited. He got the impressions the masculine lady wasn't just nervous...she was questioning her abilities. With a large quirk like that...she could do so much more than just being a wall. He was sure she could be an excellent fighter as well. When Sam came back down, he spoke a little bit. "Stand tall. Er, what I mean is, don't feel bad. It takes time and training to be more than a wall. You just have to be confident that you'll get better. Firebrand is a good place to look if you want to see what you can do now, and he'll give you tips on how to improve or even help give you a base to start with. Jumping in to protect others...that's a good base to have...it shows you are hero material, more so than most. Shall we?" He would lead the way.
Jun wouldn't just give her a tour, he would use the fastest routes. Well, keeping in mind her size. First the training areas that they mostly used, then led her to the cafeteria. Then the locker rooms and classes. After that, he went to the support class room. Only to nearly run into the very person he wanted to see. "Jun?! Hi, are things going okay?" A short, blue haired, extremely feminine looking support student stood, with three metal, chain-like arms coming from his lower back. "Yep, just wanted to introduce someone to you." The five foot one inch tall blue-haired boy looked up, and up, and up again, eyes wide at how tall the person one. Waving, he spoke up. "Hi there...I'm Daichi Arashi...nice to meet you..."
