Toraki Hayashi (Racer) [Student]

THE BASICS

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Toraki is fairly slender and doesn’t appear to have many muscles. and shares many of the traits of a Utahraptor.
He has a small snout which is covered in small gray and brown scales that patter out towards his eyes. Instead of hair, Toraki has black and brown feathers that cover his head and trail down his spine. His legs are formed like these of a utahraptor with a sharp claw on each toe, as well as a long, sickle shaped claw on each foot. His feet are covered in scales that trail off towards his ankles. Torakis arms are covered in feathers and each finger is tipped with a sharp claw. The students tail is covered in feathers that turn into a warm brown towards the tail tip.
Toraki prefers loose fitting clothes and wears sandals even in winter, as his sickle claw tends to get in the way of regular footwear. He usually has gloves on to prevent his claws from accidentally hurting anyone and often wears a necklace with several colorful feathers bundled together with a ring.

PERSONALITY

Toraki is a very social person who enjoys to have others around. He can be quite charming and likes making new friends. Toraki is very energetic and enjoys doing mischief, although he doesn’t do anything malicious intentionally and knows when to stop. Toraki grew up as the eldest siblings and has a tendency to be a big brother to those around him. Trust in Toraki to help with homework, be the voice of reason if need be or simply offer comfort.
Toraki is very close to his family and often writes them.
Toraki enjoys food a lot, and despite being able to only eat food that isn’t meat in small amounts he takes every chance he can to try out new food, particularly if it is sweet. If it could be considered edible, Toraki will try it.

BACKGROUND HISTORY

Toraki was born as the oldest child in his family and had a fairly normal upbringing. His younger sister Akari was born when he was 5, his brother Yuto when he was 7. The entire family had bird or lizard related quirks, with Torakis father Ryuu, who worked as a baker, having a bearded dragon quirk and his mother feathers instead of hair. As the oldest child, it fell to Toraki to keep an eye on his 2 younger siblings whenever his parents were not at home. In school Toraki loved sports, particularly ball sports, which he also often played with his family and made friends easily. Toraki had a very tight bond with his siblings, whit which he played often. His siblings are also part of the reason why he decided to try and become a hero. He had always looked up to heroes and it often fell to Toraki to play the role of hero in his siblings game. His wish to become a hero wouldn’t be finalized until he went out to buy school supplies with his brother when he was 13 and the store they were in caught fire. Unfortunately, while Toraki and Yuto manged to escape the store quickly enough, several civilians were caught in the fire and only the quick appearance of a hero who helped them out of the building saved them. Toraki comforted his brother and two other children who had been outside the store, while the heroes and firefighters were busy dealing with the fire and severely injured civilians. Toraki was very proud about the thanks one of the heroes gave him for helping the children.
This experience was what made Toraki finalize his decision to become a hero, to comfort others and get them out of danger. Since then he worked hard, supported by his family and friends, to make it into U.A.

THE ARMORY

Claw protecting gloves:
Gloves that cover Torakis claws to avoid accidentally scratching someone or cutting something. He normally carries a pair in his pockets or bound to his wrists, to easily slip them on or off without issue.

Costume:
Toraki has a hero costume in brown and green colours, with yellow lightning bolts as adornments. It is very lightweight with armor mostly protecting his chest and belly. It can block knife slashes and dampens the force of the impact when someone hits him, but it is useless against bullets. It is equipped with a backpack on his back and pouches on his side.

Utahraptor

SUMMARY:
His quirk gives Toraki several features of the dinosaur Utahraptor.
He poses a short muzzle with sharp teeth that regrow when the fall out and strong jaw muscles, allowing him at present to exert enough force to splinter wood or tear into flesh. Toraki posses brown and black feathers with a slight stripe pattern instead of hair, as well as scales on his feet and muzzle up to his eyes. His arms have longer feathers that extend out to the side along his lower arms up to his wrist, which help Toraki with balance. His fingernails are long, sharp, slightly hooked claws that can be used to scale trees or buildings or to scratch someone. Torakis legs are bent like those of a Utahraptor and his toes are also equipped with claws, although they are blunter. He can move his big toe to a great extent and it is equipped with a long, hooked claw that Toraki normally lifts of the ground. This claw makes it easier for the student to climb on somewhere, but can also be used to cling to someone or pin them in place. His quirk has also given Toraki a long tail that he can use for balance.
Overall, Toraki is very fast because of his quirk and reaches up to 45 km/h in a sprint and his reflexes are incredible fast. He can also jump up to 1,50 m from a standing start. His legs in general are very powerful and Torakis kicks are strong enough to break bones. The students can keep his balance and footing even on difficult or slippery ground without any issues.
Toraki has sharp senses. He has night vision that allows him to see in the dark, albeit without any colors. His hearing is about average. What he excels at is his keen sense of smell. It is good enough to allow Toraki to determine who a person is solely by smell or track them down by following their scent.


WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
Sprinter: Toraki is more build for short term high speeds then holding them for an extended period. While capable of high speeds, he can only hold his quick reaction and movement speed for about 6 posts until he has to stop and move at a regular human level or risk exhaustion. After 6 posts he will become exhausted and unable to move at anything more then a walking pace. If he triesto pushe himself even further he will be unable to fight and have difficulties moving.

Fire: Torakis feathers are very flammable. As such, fire is a huge risk for him as he will get more easily and more severely burnt then others.

Swimming: Torakis body is not made for swimming and he has only about ¾ the swimming speed of the average human. Additionally, he is at a much higher risk of drowning, as once his feathers are soaked trough they drag him down, making staying above water much harder.

Fragility: With the exception of his jaws and particularly his legs, Torakis body is more fragile then that of others. His bones break much more easily, making it risky for the student to engage in direct combat even with someone who has only the strength a normal human would have.

Sensoric Overload: Torakis enhanced senses make him more vulnerable to intense sensory impressions, such as very bright light or strong smells.

Food: Torakis diet has to mostly consist of meat. Eating other things doesn’t hurt him in small amounts, he gets sick if he eats too much of them.

SUMMARY:
Toraki has often cooked for his siblings when his parents didn’t have time to do so. As such he is quite skilled at creating simple and tasty meals, even if he can’t always eat all of them himself.

Toraki has played a lot of sports and is very good at those that involve a ball. While he isn’t on a professional level he is still pretty decent at them.
