RUMOR/SECRET: | That originally the Eisenwald family was named “Eisenhart” and they changed it to draw attention away from the fact all the members have cold metal hearts. (Untrue; “hart” is not even the correct German word for heart.) |
Viktor acts like a machine. His demeanour, the way he speaks, the way he reacts; all of it gives the impression he is a soulless machine. This is far from true, of course. Due to his harsh upbringing, he holds all strong emotions back, and does what he is told. Underneath the tough exterior, is a more sensitive man who in another life may have become an artist, or a writer or a scientist, but the hand fate has dealt Viktor has left him with a problem expressing himself.
One of the advantages of his upbringing, is that Viktor is extremely disciplined. When he is assigned a task, he will commit his all to it and ensure it is completed to perfection. He doesn’t make excuses for failure, only works harder and harder, to the detriment of his own health if necessary.
A man of few words, Viktor speaks only when necessary. When he does speak, he doesn’t mince words and gets straight to the point. When speaking in Japanese, he sounds even more robotic. His vocabulary and grammar are flawless; but he learned in an environment without interacting with actual Japanese people speaking in normal conversations. As such, he sounds like an academic textbook, even in casual conversation.
The impression that someone who spent a lot of time with Viktor would get is that he is not a particularly happy person. Rarely does he smile, and it seems like he can never find the time for any hobbies. This is mostly true; Viktor lived a life where everything was scheduled and controlled for him, and it has yet to sink in that he has the freedom to pursue his own desires for the time being. Despite how intimidating he may seem on the surface, underneath everything, Viktor is a deprived young man who has a hard time connecting with other people, let alone “Normal” people.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | Berlin, Germany |
PARENTS: | Ulrich Eisenwald – Father, head of the Eisenwald Corporation and Estate. Elfriede Eisendwald née Steiner – Mother, eldest daughter of the Steiner Holdings and Investments company. Primarily political marriage |
SIBLINGS: | Dietrich Eisenwald – Oldest sibling, heir to the Eisenwald Corporation and estate. Arnulf Eisenwald – Older brother, lawyer and aspiring politician. Alfons Eisenwald – Older brother, Still in high school, being groomed to work at the Steiner side of the company. Ilse Eisenwald – younger sister. Problem child of the family, role still unsure. |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | N/A (political or business marriage plausible) |
OTHER: | N/A |
The Eisenwald family has a lengthy and storied history. Centuries ago, before quirks emerged, it was the remnants of a German noble family that had dwindled and weakened over time. On the brink of losing everything they had, the Eisenwald patriarch at the time decided to try and start a business, to try and transition into a more modern era while the other nobles dwindled around them. Unfortunately, he had no real business acumen and was only trying this strategy to try and save the family, so he achieved nothing and died of a (mostly) unrelated heart attack, leaving his widow and two children with the last scraps of their fortune.
Fortunately, his wife was much more shrewd than he ever was. She wasn’t able to restore the fortune, but she was able to keep them afloat in a way the father never could. After a few years, a miracle happened. Quirks appeared, and with them, a whole new era of conflict…and potential business. Armed with what was left of the fortune, her two sons and the basic plan her husband left behind, she exploited the fear of the people, the confusion and the conflict created by quirks, and managed to restore a large part of the family fortune and left her two sons with a sizeable empire when she died.
Her sons took it even further, adding fuel to the fire when necessary and making sure to profit from it. Over the next few generations, the Eisenwald Corporation prospered, becoming one of the largest in Europe. They fuelled the anti-quirk sentiment when it was convenient, and many years later when quirks began to become acceptable, they deftly pivoted into profiting from supporting quirks, while also reaching out into side industries and diversifying their holdings.
The modern Eisenwald family carries on the tradition of supporting whatever provides the most profit. In the past, the non direct heir children would be married off for political gain, or sent to join the military to “serve the country” and prop up their image…while also adding to the arms deals to the military. In the modern era, the Eisenwald family have opted to try sending a younger son to become a hero instead of military service…there is a lot of money in heroic, after all.
Viktor is the unfortunate product of this mindset. As one of the younger sons, he was never going to inherit the company and the holdings. He lost the Russian roulette that was the lives of the Eisenwald children, and it was decided he would become a hero. From the age he was old enough to understand, he had been groomed to become a “perfect” hero. (From a rich out of touch German family’s perspective, at least.) Lots of old fashioned military discipline and training methods were adapted to the idea of being a hero. Viktor was figuratively and literally beaten into shape.
Everything in his life was controlled. What he learned, what he did, even what he ate. Growing up, all he knew was discipline and training, both with his quirk and without. To say it was a miserable existence would be putting it lightly. The only joy and positivity he found in his life was when his mandated learning included classic literature, or working with cars. It was considered an important part of his learning to learn about Shakespeare or Kafka, among other famous writers, and it was through this that he was able to find a small shred of joy, though he quickly learned to keep that to himself if he wanted to have any chance of reading more books, or working with cars or other vehicles again.
Viktor never had much of a relationship with his brothers. They were also being groomed for their respective roles, but due to the lack of the extreme training required, they were allowed more normal things in their lives. Viktor was never resentful of them, but he was certainly envious. His eldest brother, Dietrich, had begun a collection of old movies from around the world. Viktor caught a glimpse of this one day, on his way between the scheduled aspects of his life. He had no idea what it was at the time, but he desired to know more.
Late at night, Viktor snuck into the room the older brother used to watch his movies and began to watch them. It brought a joy and wonder to the boy that he had never experienced before. It wasn’t exactly something a child would normally want or desire, but he clung to it hard because it let him think of worlds beyond his own, and lives without the hell he endured.
The boy kept this up for over a year. He suspected his eldest brother knew, but Dietrich never shared this information if he did. Eventually, as with all things in the Eisenwald estate, his father and caretakers found out. He was forbidden from “wasting his time on such trivial things” and had all of the happiness in his life removed in one fell swoop. Viktor resigned himself to his unhappy existence after this event, it was clear that his life was not meant to have simple pleasures, and the sooner he accepted it the easier things would be.
Later in his life, the corporation spotted an expansion opportunity in Japan, a land that had really embraced the concept of heroes like no other. Smelling blood in the water, the Eisenwald elder began to make deals with Japanese companies and politicians to open a branch of some of their subsidiaries there. To really seal the deal, it was decided that Viktor would be sent to become a hero in Japan (At least for now) and build up the public image of the new corporation.
It was extremely easy to pull some strings and get Viktor admitted to UA. Even without the contacts and money they had at their disposal, Viktor was extremely well trained and learned, and could have easily passed the entrance exam.
In preparation for his move to Japan, Viktor had his entire hero design laid out for him by the top designers at the corporation. Taking the name “Siegfried” after the legendary German folk hero, since the typical association with the hero in Japan was “invincibility”, which suited both the quirk the Eisenwald family typically had and the idea of reliability behind the products they could provide, Viktor was sent to UA.
For the first time in his life, Viktor had been entrusted with a task and some freedom. It hadn’t quite sunk in yet, as the teenager still had the discipline beaten into him as he grew up holding him to his task of becoming a hero and expanding the Eisenwald family’s influence around the globe.
THE ARMORY
For now, Viktor only wears some efficiently designed hero gear that supports his movement in his heavier forms. All made and distributed by the Eisenwald corporation, of course, and sports the logos to show this.
QUIRK & SKILLS
Stahlherz
TYPE: Transformation
RANK/LEVEL: (will be filled by staff)
SUMMARY:
Stahlherz, or “Steel heart”, is a transformation type quirk typically used by the main line of the Eisenwald family. It is very simple; the user can convert any of their own organic body matter into a metal form. The body parts that are turned to metal still function normally, but gain additional positive and negative traits. The most effective use of this quirk involves controlling which parts of the body are transformed at any given time. The basic logic behind the quirk is that the more of the user is transformed, the stronger and tougher they are, but also the heavier they get, affecting their mobility. Viktor uses three different variations of the transformation for different situations.
Stahlherz erste Verwandlung: Haut : This is the simplest transformation available. It converts only the skin to metal. This form increases durability and resistance to attacks and lowers flexibility, but both are minor. This transformation takes the least time to complete and affects mobility the least, so is used for scenarios in which mobility cannot be sacrificed. However, it offers the least amount of protection and does not notably increase physical strength.
Stahlherz zweite Verwandlung: Körper: This is the primary combat form used. This one converts not just the skin layer, but the muscle layers and bones too. This increases the durability and resistance further than before as well as greatly increasing physical strength. However, mobility starts to dramatically drop with this form. It takes significantly longer to get to top speed, and top speed is reduced. The user’s weight is also increased significantly in this form.
Stahlherz dritte Verwandlung: Kern: This is the final transformation available to Viktor for now. This form converts literally every single part of the user’s body, down to the organs, into metal. This form is typically not suited for combat; the defensive increase is only marginal beyond the second form, and the strength of the user is not increased at all. Additionally, this form dramatically increases the weight of the user and their mobility is reduced even further. The main aspect of this form is resistance to biological hazards; metal organs are not bothered by poisons, smoke or other similar negatives. This form takes the longest to transform in or out of, and provides little to no direct combat advantages. If anything, it’s less effective than the second form in any instance that does not absolutely required the increased hazard resistance.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
The first drawback is that the transformation requires time, the more metal produced requires more time. While the first transformation can be done quickly and easily, forms two and three require more and more time where the user is left alone to concentrate.
The second drawback is the reduced mobility while transformed. The trade-off for greatly increased defensive power is being much easier to hit. Going to form three for example, maximises the user’s defensive power but doing so basically makes it impossible to dodge normal attacks. This also makes it difficult to utilise the increased strength granted by transforming, since the quirk is exclusively melee range effectiveness offensively.
In terms of matchups, Stahlherz is extremely effective against elemental quirks and “normal” methods of attack, such as un-enhanced strength melee attacks, or weapons, or guns. It is also extremely effective against quirks that prioritise accuracy over attack power, since using Stahlherz is basically an acceptance that you will be struck. However, due to the low mobility, it struggles against quirks with high attack power that do not suffer the same mobility penalty. For example, an individual strong enough to deal damage to the metal form user while also having more mobility is a tough matchup. Also, while transformed, the user is basically physically incapable of catching anyone with enhanced mobility.
Additionally the quirk provides absolutely no defence against mental or sensory based attacks, and it’s reduced mobility leaves him wide open to being hit by these.
Despite the seemingly impervious form, there is an upper limit to how much damage the user can take. When this happens, the user can be knocked unconscious or concussed like a normal person. Additionally, at the current level of mastery over the quirk, it cannot be maintained indefinitely. The more powerful the transformation and the more damage taken, the less time the user can maintain it.
