somehow through the storm I couldn't get to you Hello 3-A welcome to your first lesson with me owo
Everything in Ground Beta was calm, the large buildings that were erected around the training grounds did not speak of the many years of fighting it had seen, nor would see in the future- though the many battle scars they all carried only gave a small insight of the things that happened here as the large mock city played its part in educating and growing the next generation of heroes.
The small sign outside the building there was a small digital plaque that had indication of the next class there, and today it read as follows: Time: 1pm Class: 3-A Quirk Control Practical Training Instructor: Itsuka Meka
As third years, the to be heroes should probably know what first lesson of the year with the ex Pro Hero meant by now- a complicated game of catch with one unwilling helper. Itsuka hoped to see how far the kids had grown in 3 years as it was the last time they were doing this- not that the teacher’s hopes for his students showed at all in his behavior, but that was business as normal for the black haired man. He was currently sitting on top of some of the buildings overlooking the entrance to the training grounds, idly chewing on a custard-chocolate filled crustless packet sandwich. His pet pig, Bacon was sniffing the ground nearby, the small pink creature didn’t like this place.
Way. Too. Many. Bad. Experiences.
He was ready to run away, but he already knew it was pointless. His cruel, cruel owner would just catch him and subject him to the evil children. If only he knew that at least for this group of kids, it was the last time he had to face… be saved by them.

Kazume hated this lesson.
Why? Perhaps due to the fact that control under certain circumstances was not his expertise. Or it was because he and that stupid pig had some serious bad blood. And you know... almost setting it on fire the previous year they had done this lesson hadn't quite helped his relationship with the instructor, Itsuka Meka. Despite this, he still showed up for the lesson, as if he had the choice in the matter. And if he had, had a choice, he would have happily skipped it and called it a good day, but he was not granted that luck. He was never terribly early and was not showing up early to that lesson to suggest he had any better merit than the year before or to attempt to steal into the teacher's graces. It was simply by chance alone. It wasn't that the lesson was hard, by any means, in fact it offered very little chance for tactical variation or planning.
Sadly, it required teamwork. He knew of the pigs rather picky standards and, sadly (or perhaps not), he did not meet them. Perhaps this would be the year he finally charred the swine to its namesake (extra crispy) and he would be kicked out of U.A. along with the rest of his class and that would be that. Banned by barbecuing a teacher's "pet." Wouldn't that have been ridiculous?
He entered the training ground, hands shoved into his pockets. Only to see no teacher and no other student yet in the ground. This was just great. Perhaps he could take a short nap before the class began.

Isaac looked down as he flexed his hand, watching carefully as the servos activated and the joints bent in response to the impulse. Well, it wasn't technically his hand, merely one that he was borrowing, along with the rest of the seven foot tall shell he was currently residing within. He had just finished putting the Raiju together, having rebuilt the bot after pulling its scraps out of one of the combat simulation rooms. A student with an ice quirk had apparently done quite a number on the thing, but after about a week or so of work the student had been able to piece it back together... with a few minor upgrades thrown in. The chassis was slimmed down considerably, the armor had been swapped out, and the motors had been reworked to improve their output. With a fresh coat of paint on top of all that, there was very little left of the original that was recognizable, save for a noticeable gash left on the side of the face plate, which Isaac had decided not to replace on a whim.
Satisfied with the responsiveness of the frame, Isaac took off in a brisk jog toward ground Beta. This would be his first time attending Professor Meka's infamous lesson. The rather unique path he had taken through UA had prevented him from participating during the previous year, but this time he was intent on taking part and seeing it for himself. Being a support student, his presence wasn't mandatory by any means, but in spite of how most hero course students spoke of it with feelings of dread, the boy viewed the exercise as a potentially valuable learning experience. Quirk control wasn't exactly something he struggled with, but the most insightful lessons were often the ones that were least expected, and there was almost always something worth learning in classes like this. Besides, The Raiju was fresh off the work bench and there were few better ways of testing new equipment than live training exercises.
As he entered the grounds, Isaac saw that there was only a single student there before him, and the teacher was nowhere in sight. That just meant there was still a bit of time to kill before things got started. He recognized the other third year's face, but didn't know their name, having only interacted a little with the hero course since he arrived at the school. Perhaps it was time to remedy that... As the Raiju came to a stop a few feet away, it lowered itself to a crouch. After a moment there was a slight crackle of electricity and the boy phased out from the shell, his diminutive form appearing perched atop the drone's shoulder. After shaking off the brief wave of disorientation that always accompanied using his quirk, Isaac looked down at his fellow student with a smile. "Good morning." He said cheerfully before extending a hand in greeting. It would immediately be clear that the white haired boy was several years younger than the one he addressed, but his uniform was still that of a third year. "I do not believe we have spoken before. Isaac Korzhakov, a pleasure to be meeting you."

“Hello my nemesis, we meet again.” Jon let out a theatrical boisterous laugh while tipping their head back. They settled fists on their hips just above the belt of pouches that circled their waist. The small teenager struck a vaguely impressive pose before the laugh dissolved into a snort as they grinned at the entryway of the training ground before spotting a few others. Maybe this year they’d actually come away unscathed. First year Jon was so very green compared to third year, hell even second year was still a little wet behind the ears, coming into their Quirk a little late. Still, first year had it the roughest. They’d snapped their prosthetic, sprained three fingers, one nasty black eye and a mystery bruise that took two weeks to go away. And they had nothing to show for it in the end, another classmate winning. Second year was a little better but they’d actually broke two fingers that time. A couple of their joints were a little gnarled from it, but that was the price of glorious not winning again.
Third time’s the charm.
Dressed in their loosely labeled uniform and gear, Jon stretched their arms over their head, linking their fingers to flex them outward and arched their back, hearing a satisfied pop and crack of their spine. “Ugh, I’m getting old,” they muttered before shaking their hands out. They adjusted a strap of their harness under their jacket, making sure the small armor laid just right. There was nothing they could do with the bulk of the armor and what it did to their figure but Jon had learned the hard way of wearing a binder while doing anything strenuous. Still, the workout tank top they wore under everything did wonders and they only mildly died of the added layers. Their jacket helped cover everything and that was good enough. Couldn’t fight dysphoria and metaphorical bad guys at the same time.
Traipsing over to the couple of students, Jon mistaking the massive robot for an actual third person, but they’d seen weirder things so one could really blame them, they plunked a hand atop of the robot’s shoulder not occupied by the spider monkey of a student. “Yo,” they said casually, leaning on the bot to shift their weight to their running blade and kicked up their boot to grab the toe of it behind them, stretching their leg.
Jon had, had a pretty good morning, ran the gauntlet of classes, got their med regiment in order, hadn’t physically strained themselves too much the night before and their clothing covered most of risqué red marks that may or may not existed from a rigorous study session. Had to ace that human anatomy test and what better way to learn then hands on experience. Dude, who Jon totally remembered his name, even offered another study lesson if Jon failed their exam. Proactivity at it’s best.
Leg thoroughly stretched, they let go of the bot, hand trailing just a moment along the metal exterior before tugging off the hairband on their wrist and gathered as many green dreadlocks as they could to put up. They had way too much hair and not enough strength defying accessories to contain it. The usual half updo would have to do, shorter locks framing their cherub face.
“We about to get riggity wrecked up in heee...” Jon trailed off, finally addressing the others and gave a cheeky tilt of their head. “I don’t know either of you,” they stated. “Huh. Well, sup, names Jon. Jonny if ya like.” They shoved their hand out, offering it up for a handshake for any to take, the black fingerless gloves doing little to hide the rainbow of bandaids that covered the first joint of every right finger, a nearly healed test run of their metal boxing gloves. They’d been trying to create them faster and had ended up shredding the skin off their knuckles and fingers. The bandaids were more for their amusement as everything had scabbed over the day before.
“This it? Figured there’d be a bigger turn out.” They scanned the open area of buildings, raising a hand to shield their gaze from the overhead sun in search of their elusive instructor, the wily fellow he was.

all we can do now is follow the path we believe in
As students started to file in to the training ground, Itsuka regarded them from his perch with his good eye as he finished a carton of mint choc chip milk, adding it to the pile of rubbish he had amassed while he had been waiting.
Well, that seemed like most of 3-A, so he supposedly could start. Using his right foot to push himself off the edge of the building, the short man free-falled a few meters, his body rather lax and resembling a dropped rag doll before he activated his quirk just in time so he could land on the ground below with no injury from the impact, (and well, so he could actually land on both feet...) his boots hitting the dusty concrete with a loud thud and a small dust cloud flying up as he turned his quirk off again when he thought it safe, his body slumping down to the lazy slouch he was usually found having once more.
He was wearing his usual combat gear that he always wore to lessons, a close fitting black bodysuit with a high neck, thick metal bands around his wrists and ankles, what looked like a small metallic backpack and earpieces on both ears.
“Hey. Guess everyone’s ready?”
Itsuka asked glancing around, his working eye scanning the students before him. He felt a nudge at his leg and assumed it was Bacon, wanting to hide from the group. An azure eye caught sight of a kid that looked like they belonged in first year if that and it made him tilt his head a little in question. He had been told of a student from 3-H attending the class to test somethings from Dr. Shisutemu but it didn’t even occur to the ex pro hero that it could be this kid. Not that he was one to really be saying that with how young he looked himself but that was besides the point.
“...who’re you...?”
He asked bluntly to the silver haired teenager. Did he remember the timetable wrong? That could be a possibility as he had done it more than once before but as Green and Explosion was here, this should be 3rd year class....
“So. Are you guys ready to finally do real life combat?”
Itsuka asked flatly, his voice sounding as bored as it always did but he was, in actual fact rather excited. This exercise third years version meant 100%. And if the kids could handle that, then they were finally ready to stop playing a game tutorial and actually deserve to be on the first step to being a true hero. This lesson he did to each third year class that he had taught made him feel like maybe there was some hope still after all. Well, if they failed then that was that but at least so far in the last few years no class had killed the pig yet, no comment on other ways he had ended up causing PTA issues...
“Dunno if you guys know, but cos you’re all 3rd years now and it’s the last time we are gonna do this particular training I’m gonna do 100% power output of my quirk. So...like... equivalent to an A- ranked villain in strength and tactics. I think. No more limiters- if you pass this then your kinna ok as long as you keep it up. If you fail... well you can go do something else with your life it’ll do everyone a favour.”
His language use checker was beeping in his pocket. It was fine, this was third years. If they were going to burst into tears and quit or run tell their corporate boss daddy they already would have in the last 2 years he had taught them.
...he hoped.
“You know how it works by now right? You get the pig from me, take it to that building over there-”
He pointed at the building closest to the door.
“Unless you are a real idiot you’d know by now the whole point of this exercise is to use team work, the strongest asset a hero has. Pro hero ain’t a glamour competition or who gets to stand out the most. If you try and do everything yourself, people get hurt for no reason. You guys ain’t villains, you can work with each other. Do what you do best and if you guys dunno how to synergise by now you really have issues.”
Well the kids should know all this by now, he was aware that this wasn’t how some people felt both students and pro heroes, but it was his heroics philosophy. At his prime he had been in the top 10 in the hero rankings rather consistently, but that wasn’t something he cared about (though other people seemed to.) and that wasn’t done by himself. Without his team he wouldn’t have even reached his goal, he knew that. And he hoped these third years would realise this also, but with less sacrifices than he and people around him had to give up.
“Got 5 mins of prep time. Then I’ll start.”
The black haired man said as he limped away a few meters, his small pet following behind him, mainly due to the small apple shaped biscuit he had pulled out of his pocket. He bent down to give it to the mammal before he pressed a small button on the side of his backpack, earpieces and the metal bands around his limbs. The support gear whirled to life, forming the armoured support around his limbs and his earpieces warped into a larger headset, though it’s primary function of communication with other team members was something he did not need anymore. A loud clanging thud was heard as the “tail” to his gear came down, hitting the floor lifelessly as he had not activated his quirk yet. Ugh, this whole getup was a little heavy to wear when he didn’t have his quirk on...
HELLO 3-A (and Mako)! Welcome to your first and last catch the pig lesson XD As we have a small PC turn out, feel free to add 2-3 NPC classmates to push certain tactics or plot. I suggest you guys plot it out a bit on Discord or something. After this round of "prep time" posts, I will respond as Itsuka to your combat as I see fit so whoever is meant to be first, come at him hahaha. Everyone just respond in a sensible pace pls, we won't do strict post order or else some people will be doing nothing for ages XD

We're so screwed.
Perhaps it was a bit early to determine the outcome, but he didn't need a lot of extra time analyzing their situation, which was meager at best, to determine they were totally screwed. Why wasn't the teacher one of the brutal, sadistic types that enjoyed watching kids beat each other to bloody pulps? Kazume was more than willing to do that, but instead their teacher was just a sadistic son of a bitch that enjoyed watching them scramble after swine. No, this was not going to be enjoyable and, yet, Kazume wasn't about to fucking lose. Even if he had to supply that pig to the building a little over charred and crispy along with every one of his team mates.
The first to attend the class after him was... a child, curiously enough. He didn't know him though he could surmise that the student was simply from another class, perhaps a support student. Yet if he was in 3-H, he was young, and that meant there was something about him that made age not apply. If that was the case, that was useful. If the robot was anything to do with it, he could assume a general idea of the other boy's quirk, at the very least.
"Kazume." He grunted simply, expression between deadpanned and bored. He extended his hand to shake, knowing the touch was a little uncomfortably hot (not enough to burn, but enough to say ‘I don’t do contact’), before pulling away and tucking it back into the pockets of his jacket. Contact reminded him that everything he touched burned, he shouldn’t be there— he wasn’t designed to be a hero.
Then came green bean.
Jon Lafayette. He knew of them because it as hard not to know of them. Microscopic, cute in an annoying way, bubbly in a way Kazume wasn't capable of comprehending or preparing for. So instead of having to partake further in conversation he just rose the temperature of the air around him, until the very vicinity around him said 'touch me and I will cook you.' He wouldn't pretend and say he was a nice person, he was too focused to play pretend like he knew what to say to these people or how to act.
”You’re entirely too excited for this.” He didn’t have a word to describe this lesson. For him, it was just a matter of working on his temper and not getting out of control. He could control the fire, but he could start it and that made him dangerous if he wasn’t in control of his actions.
Wrecked was one way to put the level of shit they were about to deal with.
Everyone was so much shorter than him, Am I in the right class?
"Whatever, don't get in my way."
His eyes darted to the man plummeting from the top of the building, so that was where Meka had been hiding. Guess everyone’s ready?
Nope.
His attention trailed to the little fat thing that followed the teacher around. He could already feel his temper spike at it. It was not going to be like last year, nope. Though with one glance around at the others that had bothered to show for the lesson told him all that he needed to know, they were sorely lacking in feminine wiles.
5 minutes wasn't nearly enough time to plan for this, especially since they hadn't had the time to properly understand one another's skills, their quirks, their flaws, etc. He knew his own would be keeping his cool, not setting his own teammates on fire for one, maybe even just play as a teammate for once. Kazume sighed then, looking at the other two. "Okay then two of us need to handle the teacher... at 100%." He added the last bit at an un-enthused grumble. "Someone needs to handle the pig. We are sorely lacking in a key ingredient, which is utter bullshit and doesn't determine shit about whether or not we're good heroes. The game is rigged and if we can't handle the pig, then we have to herd it. Or I can just cook it and we all call it a day."

The heat was apparent before Isaac even made contact with the other student, but he reached out all the same. The sensation was rather akin to putting your hand underneath a scalding faucet, but it wasn't enough to burn and Kazume face didn't show any particular signs of malice, so he simply assumed it was part of his quirk. Something involving fire was the most likely explanation. It was uncomfortable to say the least, especially with a body like his, but Isaac dealt with it and grinned until the boy returned his hands to his pockets. He liked meeting new people, even if they weren't always so thrilled to meet him.
Not long after another student approached, promptly making their way over and leaning on the Raiju. "Why, hello." Isaac returned the greeting as he stretched to peek around bulk of the bot at the newcomer. He recognized this one; people that didn't tower over you were rather noteworthy when you were as short as he was. Not that the green haired joker wasn't notorious enough already. Isaac reached out toward the hand that Jon offered, but their combined height deficit meant that he couldn't quite make it from his perch, forcing him to hop down to greet his fellow student properly. Alright, so he did still have to look up, but the height difference was measured in inches rather than feet. "Isaac. Pleasure to meet you, Jonny." Again, he smiled warmly as he shook their hand.
The next to arrive was... the teacher? Shortly after their instructor dropped from the sky, Isaac did a quick scan of the area to make sure that he wasn't missing anyone. They were the only three there, and neither of the other two looked particularly enthusiastic about the task before them. Was this lesson really notorious enough that most of the class would skip? Isaac supposed that he would find that out for himself shortly, but his disposition meant that it was unlikely he would find it quite so loathsome.
When the teacher's eyes passed over him, he was met with a rather familiar look of confusion and the obvious question that went with it. The boy was quite used to such things by now and took it in stride, replying without any real hesitation. "Good morning professor Meka. I'm here from 3-H, I believe good Doctor Shisutemu should have informed you I was coming?" He gestured to the patch on his uniform to prove he wasn't lying. "I've not had pleasure of participating in your class before, should be good learning experience, yes?"
Though he had already done a good deal of research on their task before hand, Isaac listened politely as the teacher explained their objectives for the day. Get the pig, take it to the building. A simple enough idea, but as Kazume pointed out, the animal had certain preferences that their little group didn't meet. That would make things more... complicated, which combined with their small numbers to stack the odds against them. As Itsuka so plainly pointed out, teamwork was really their only chance. With the time allotted to them, the three would quickly go over their abilities. As Isaac had guessed, Kazume had a fire quirk, and Jon had some kind of metal manipulation. The combination gave them a few options for dealing with their teacher, but the pig was still a bit of an unknown element.
Isaac gave a nod at the redhead's rather blunt summation of their situation. "Indeed, does seem to be our best option, although I may be able to help keep track of it..." He removed the backpack that he was wearing and set it on the ground, rummaging around a bit before producing a metallic capsule from the depths. With the push of a button, the capsule quickly unfolded into the shape of an aerial drone, which he proceeded to switch on and toss into the air. After he made sure it was hovering properly, he slotted his phone into a jack on the Raiju's back and turned back to his fellow students. "I can control drone from phone, give us updates even while fighting. Should come in handy I think." He explained, waiting to see if they had anything to add before they got started.

There was little that surprised Jon, rolling with the punches, taking what life dished out with only mild complaining. So when the silver haired guy descended to stand amongst the mortals, Jon found themselves looking down for once. Silvery grey eyes widened comically and their mouth dropped open. “Oh shit, you’re my unicorn,” they exhaled, shaking the kid’s hand entirely too enthusiastically. “Not often I’m the taller one.” They half explained their oddly rambling. “Isaac, my man, my dude, my friend. We gotta take a selfie after this. I gotta show my bro that it’s not just Neko-chan and Craft Kit shorter than me. I mean, no offense, we height aficionados gotta stick together.”
Like the whirlwind they could be, they shifted to their second companion and not one to be put off by a little groucho, Jon still squinted at the rise of heat in the air, taking the blatant clue and sidestepped a few paces after exchanging pleasantries with the new guy. They were not exactly susceptible to climate changes (Though wasn’t everybody on this world?) but they did not need to start sweating before doing anything to earn it.
“Someone has to be, Phoenix Force,” they countered back, childish sticking their tongue out at the taller student. “and I drank like three, five hour energy drinks this morning. So I’ve been ready for like a third of it, still got two more to burn through and ten hours to do it. That’s how that works, right?”
Jon directed a snarky salute at Kazume and his foreboding comment before tugging loose the thick band they wrapped around a wrist. They worked on gathering as much hair as they could to put it up. It was a losing battle, genetics gifted them with entirely too much and made due with the half updo they normally sported. “Lets get this bread,” they muttered, watching their teacher do the best impression of a superhero landing. So bad for the knees. They still clapped a quick golf clap and made a mental note of Isaac being support. Cool.
A hundred percent? They made a face, doing nothing to hide it but gave a shrug and a nod to being asked if they were ready for this. Yes and no. Jon could already feel the bruises they’d have at the end of it. It did little to deter them though, they sported every scrap and cut like badges in colorful plasters. So mostly yes, their renewed vigor returning at getting the chance to not hold back. They bounced on the toe of their boot, shifting their weight expectantly and unconsciously test their prosthetic. They were using Barda this time, their second running blade as Éowyn was in the shop for repairs. They’d worn through the tread and needed to have it replaced and the knee joint recalibrated.
Jon glanced at the building Itsuka pointed at, studying it in hopes of finding some sort of advantage but it looked like just every other building. Same as always. At the mention of teamwork, Jon pointedly looked away again. They weren’t bad per se and worked fairly well with others, as long as they were pointedly told to, having the habit of flinging themselves into trouble at a moment’s notice. Harmonize, sure, that would totally be a piece of cake. Jon casually slid their bandaged hand out of sight, a youthfully defiant act. Getting hurt was part of the job, protecting your teammates justified it.
They waggled fingers at Bacon, giving the barnyard creature a cheery grin, as if they could impart how low key they were. Smooth, nice, so nice, totally a nice person, so don’t fucking run away like last year. It wasn’t technically cheating to try and befriend the pig before the exercise started, more like devising some proper foundation, almost as if they had an actual plan.
Only five minutes? Time limits sucked as did their sexist pig. Unconsciously Jon crossed their arms over their chest, a feat near impossible with the hidden vambraces and they tapped their bicep thoughtfully as Kaz talked. “We’re not killing Bacon, dude.” Jon would have lightly smacked him on the arm, but wasn’t about to get burned for it. They’d save that for later when he wasn’t expecting it and they could make a clean breakaway. “I rather like not having animal murder on my conscious. Death is not a stepping stone I want to take to being a pro hero.”
Still, Kazume had a good plan. Simple and basic, but that was good enough for them. Plenty of room for it to excel and fall apart.
“Whoa,” they said, impressed at the gadget Isaac produced. “That’s cool as shit. That’s your Quirk, tech stuff?”
Trying to condense what their Quirk was annoying at best. “Anything metal is fair game for me, I can liquefy and remake it into my attacks, but shit’s impossible to handle on its own.” Jon dug out a washer from a belt pouch and held it between two fingers. It was small and miniscule and their eyes shifted brighter, taking on a metallic silver sheen. The washer melted, oozing slowly before they dropped it and shook the remaining silver liquid from their hand as if it was water. “I gotta be touching it, skin to skin contact is so important during the first moments of life.”
“Hang on a tick.” Jon twisted, the quiver swaying along their lower back with the movement, the translucent casing housing several metal orbs in different slots. “Premades.” They said, cycling through, pulling an orb free and held it up, indistinguishable from the rest. They gave it a light squeeze, feeling the subtle give. “Keeps down the fab time, they’re for capturing, restraints, barriers, aaah sharp pointy things, you can use both offensively and defensively.” Jon talked fast, skipping the quirky names they’d given each attack.
“Here, take this one.” They held out their ball for whoever wanted to take it. “Break it on the ground and it’ll act like quicksand. It should hold just about anything. The harder you struggle, the better. I also got some other things if you guys want. I don’t mind sharing. But!” They drew their hand back. “Don’t break any of them on you and keep your distance, some of them are a little... wily.”
“I’m game for whatever, duo, threesome, all that. Meka knows I suck ass at close combat,” they paused to roll their eyes as if reliving every terrible fake mission and assignment they’d failed in their three years. “Probs be expecting me to hang back, but I volunteer myself as tribute. To grab or herd Bacon, that is. Unless you can,” Jon shifted back to Isaac and their bot. “without making bacon bits.”

all we can do now is follow the path we believe in
“...”
Well, for once he had read the email, mainly as it was from a man he respected and was thankful to a whole ton. He read all the messages the Support Instructor sent, though the fact most of them were not really the most easiest of things to understand, nor very specific, meant it took him a moment to realise this was the student the email was talking about.
“Oh. Yeah. Ok.”
He nodded, we guessed he was around that size when he was third year. Well, he had been a little bit taller, but whatever, didn’t matter.
“I...guess? Depends what you take from it and what you do with it.”
The teacher shrugged, kids couldn’t learn what they didn’t want to be taught, though he would do his best in his own way and maybe even the things they thought were pointless now will come in handy when they needed help one day.
He let the kids come up with a “plan” or squabble between then or whatever, scooping up Bacon in one of his claws, being careful not to squeeze too hard in case it pissed the piglet off. He knew from experience his pet disliked being squished more than anything, well, second to having his little curly tail pulled.
Itsuka didn’t need a timer to tell when 5 minutes was up- short term time keeping had become something he was very good at, thanks to his quirk. He couldn’t afford to reach his limit unaware.
“Alright.”
He said as he activated his quirk, a burst of prismatic rainbow colours that looked almost like a digital screen replacing the blue of his irises on both eyes. His whole body straightened up, reacting with the system installed into his body and the whole suit powering up as his quirk flowed through it, the cord/harpoon combo tail rising off the ground and hovered in mid air as if it belonged to an animal. Vision flooded back into his right eye and the general heaviness he pretty much permanently experienced disappeared, and that faint all too familiar rush of adrenaline ran through his whole body.
“Let’s go.”
With that he pushed his quirk into his legs for speed, and once securing Bacon by putting his claw-like gauntlet around the creature’s neck and belly, pushed off at top speed away from the class.

This was his team.
"Focus, Green Bean, we got an actual assignment and I am not losing because of your flea-sized attention span, got it?" He growled in remark to the endless squabbling about unicorns and selfies. Hopefully they could put some of that damn energy to something useful for a damn second, but Kaz wasn't holding his breath for that particular miracle to occur. Five minutes was not enough time to consider every viable possibility. Hell, there was not enough time in the world to map through every possible route they could take. Like one of them going through a fucking sex change so they could hold this fucking pig.
"Then I suppose you should do a damn good job making friends with it because plan B involves a lot of heat."
Was he really considering cooking the pig?
(Yeah. — he actually was considering it..)
But he could resist the urge for the sake of himself, the others, and you know... striving to be like an actual hero, which was still a bit of a struggle at times (at least other's ideas of what a hero was and where Kazume fit into that). He liked to believe that it was easier for others, their quirks didn't have the uncanny habit of eating everything in its vicinity and burning up all the rest. Quirk-Control Training was not a specialty of Kazume's, and he was not usually the type to enjoy struggling with anything. Give him a written test or physical training and he was fine, beyond fine, he exceeded because he was too god damn proud to fail, but heaven forbid maintaining a level head under quirk control training with Meka.
He had a back up plan in case the pig proved uncooperative to plan A, it didn't involve cooking the pig... exactly... Metal, fire, technology. He could't create the heat necessary to destroy Meka's suit but he was still a man and metal had a nasty way of overheating and expanding, but time was an element they did not have and he could not control so that was not a plan that would work under this situation. It was possible that Jon's quirk could handle the suit, but he didn't know the extent of his ability and well... Kaz was already far from thrilled having 3/4 of their plan depend on Jon Lafayette befriending a pig like this was some kind of cartoon musical.
Then little Green managed to surprise him. He considered the little orb they held out, drinking in the extra addition to a not so formatted plan. Kazume reached out to take it before promptly freezing and returning his hand to his side at the 'little wily' comment, "Things have a way of exploding when I touch them.. so best one of you hold on to that."
The biggest issue was that Meka knew both of them sucked ass at something. Jon with close-combat and he himself with control. "Isaac, you're gonna have to be our trump card. He doesn't know you and that's our only element of surprise in this situation. So if you have any tricks up your sleeve, I suggest you hold and wait for the best opportunity. He's gonna see me and Jon a mile away. I'll hold his attention... he'll probably try to piss me off...." Reluctantly he added, "And he'll probably succeed so I hope that suit of your's can take heat because I don't know how to hold back and, frankly, I don't care to. Got it? And Jon....you're with the pig once its separated. I would prefer not to cook you alive today. So... just don't fuck up with the pig, okay? If it doesn't work we'll have to change plans fast and that means herding it." He didn't give a fuck that he was bossy.
The teacher approached and he watched him critically.
They had to get the pig away from Meka first, but it was one thing at a time. Meka had to have a limitation right? Conservation of energy, just like with his own quirk, it explained why he didn't walk up to them with his quirk triggered, but there was no way of knowing for how long or if that was actually an indication of anything. He didn't like being forced to make blind assumptions about anything. Perhaps it would have been smarter to wear him down, but that was not a particular skill in Kazume's arsenal.
This was probably not going to work.
But fuck it.
And, of course, the bastard was running in the opposite direction at high speed. "Goddamn it. Track him."
There was no way in hell they were physically going to keep up with this guy, not at this rate. He was way too damn lazy for this shit. Seemed it was to be a chase, not ideal, but he followed regardless and hoped the others kept up.

Isaac tilted his head to the side slightly at the intensity of Jon's reactions now that they were face to face, but he couldn't help but chuckle either way. It was a sentiment that he could understand, though their other teammate seemed more intent on getting down to business. There was a bit of a clash in personalities here, that much was obvious, and the boy hoped that it wouldn't cause too many issue during the exercise, but he simply didn't know enough of these two to make that judgement.
Isaac gave another chuckle when Jon asked about the drone and his quirk and he shot the kid a grin. "Da, something like that. You will be seeing soon." Kazume's comment about playing his abilities close to the vest made a good deal of sense in the current situation, so he would hold off on explaining for now. He hadn't really thought of that part before. If this teacher had been repeating this lesson every year, then he well knew his student's strengths and weaknesses, and so the already lopsided scale would be tipped even further against them. With their numbers so low, the unknown factor that he represented might have a real effect on the professor's strategy. That was certainly something to keep in mind.
Reaching out to take the metallic orb that Kazume had passed up, Isaac probed it with a finger a few times while Jon explained it's purpose. "Is very interesting, and the shape and properties are... how do you say... programmed, yes? Very interesting indeed." He slipped the orb into his Drone's hand and then addressed the redhead's comment about turning up the heat a bit. "Da, Raiju here can operate near to sixteen hundred centigrade without issue." He patted the bot's knee with a bit of pride at his work, then added after doing some quick mental math; "Perhaps higher if only short bursts, so you need not worry much for me, Kazume."
Just as they were finishing up their discussion, Isaac noticed Itsuka step forward. Time was up. The support's eyes went wide as soon as the teacher's gear deployed and his heart rate kicked up slightly. He could recognize that craftsmanship in an instant; products of the good doctor himself, built for the express purpose of allowing a powerful hero to do what they do best. There's a lot he would have given to examine those pieces in detail, but he knew that this wasn't the time for that. Maybe after class if this didn't go too badly. Regardless, it seemed he wouldn't merely be going up against Itsuka today, but his teacher as well... So be it. His grin grew as Itsuka took off and he set a hand on the Raiju again. There was another crackle of electricity around the spot he touched and his whole body seemed to shimmer as he passed right into the metal.
With a blink his perspective changed and he was seven feet up again, no wind on his skin, no warmth from the sun, no smell of dust and concrete. But he had other senses to replace those; perfect sight, omni directional hearing, the ability to detect even the slightest movement around him... He flexed his hand and felt the servos shift, once again getting used to the precision that his normal body lacked. At Kazume's prompting he mentally reached out and a screen formed in the corner of his vision. The drone immediately rose in altitude and gave chase, able to keep pace with the teacher even at his full speed and provide Isaac with a bird's eye view of the scene. As it moved into position, he reached out and scooped up Jon with one hand and then deposited them on his shoulder. "Best be holding on now, Jonny." He kicked off with a sudden burst of speed, catching up to Kazume in an instant and reaching out with his other hand. "Climb on." He shouted, slowing down just long enough for the redhead to board before rushing off again. This body was fast and he could track Itsuka easily enough, but it was pretty clear that he couldn't close the distance just by running.
Once he had both of his team mates in tow, he lept up onto the nearest building so that he could get a line of sight on Itsuka. A series of calculations appeared across his vision and an instant later a trajectory formed, an arc tracing to the ground far ahead to take his target's speed into account. The whirring of gears sound out and he pitched the orb that Jon gave him, letting it fly like a bullet with the full strength of the Raiju behind it. Before it even impacted though he started moving again, ripping off a pipe as he hopped to the next building and passing it up toward Jon. "Mind giving me something else to throw Jonny? Not going to catch up without getting his attention."

“What?” came the innate response at being asked to pay attention, a split second later the unconscious joke caught up and they added a knowing smile and subtle tilt of their head, waiting for an eventual reaction. Kaz had a medley of them, all beautiful and perfect in their own way ranging from ignoring to being set on fire. “Relax Sparky, I’m totally the best at making friends, Bacon wont know what hit them.” A beat. “Friendship.” Jon added unnecessarily. “It’s friendship.” Third time was really going to have to be the charm, previous years proving they hadn’t the skill to get close enough to see their teacher’s pig in action. But, they had a plan. Sorta. At least Kaz seemed to and that was good enough for them.
“Hey,” the teen interjected, passing the orb to Isaac as he inspected it and gave Kazume a quick nod of their head. Their voice uncharacteristically several notes quieter and the corner of their wide eyes crinkled at the corners. “Quirks not you.” And shrugged at their own words before ratcheting it back up to their usual zeal.
“You’re the head bitch in charge so I’ll follow you. You’ve got my axe and crippling depression.” Jon thumped a fist against their chest, before turning to Isaac and his bot.
“Uh, kinda, yeah,” they answered unhelpfully, touching the back of their neck, rubbing it. “I can shove a whole lot of intent into it, make it do what I want. Usually. I guess pre program would be the techy term for it.” Isaac was an interesting feller. And not sarcastic interesting, but really fucking interesting. Like tell me more about yourself over a disorganized toolbox and covered in engine grease. It was far too easy to overlook the third year grew up underfoot mechanics and scientists, they hardly oozed that kind of interest or knowledge. Jon took a second, closer look at the bot, slipping a hand over it’s side, gliding fingertips over the metal, keeping a pinky lofted to avoid accidents. If they concentrated, maybe just maybe, they could feel it better. Whatever that meant, Jon wasn’t entirely sure. It’d been something that was bugging them since their run in with Psycho Cure.
Kaz was right. Again. “And here I wanted to work on my tan.” Jon added with a quick wink, “You’re good, bro. Respecting boundaries, got it.” They fired off duo finger guns whil clicking their tongue. “Same with my balls,” they paused for a second before continuing, “Give ‘em at least five feet of space till they’re done forming. Titanium can get away from me real quick. The uh, attack, not the actual metal. I mean, probably the metal too, I got a miss mash of everything mixed in my sweet, little balls.” Jon trailed off. “...I forgot where I was going with this.”
Which was a good thing because Meka choose that moment to return. Guess their five minutes was up. Jon pushed the sleeves of their jacket up, exposing the metal vambraces that encircled their forearms. Good thing their gear was allowed or else this was going to have an extra layer of difficulty on this already bitch of a task. And when their instructor booked it away from them, Jon groaned. Running already. Curse their damn, baby legs, this was going to be a long ass mission. Kaz gave chase and they debated on letting him take the full lead before Isaac vanished in a crackle of electricity that left the hair on the back on their neck standing on end and an uneasiness that was quickly forgotten in lieu of something much better.
The stationary robot moved and Jon watched in utter fascination as it stood to its full height. “Broski?” They waited for any kind of confirmation before grinning brightly. “Def gonna need that selfie now.” Before they could dig their phone out of their armada of pouches on their belt, the robot scooped them up, depositing them on a shoulder even as Jon scrambled to stay on. Their breath left them in a rush at the sudden acceleration, clinging tightly as a panicky laughter bubbled up from them, giving way to immediate joy as they dashed across the open span. Was this what it was like to be tall? They could totally not get used to this, maybe even develop a little altitude sickness in the process.
Jon whooped loudly, scaling a building as if it were nothing and any iota of fear was replaced with adrenaline-induced glee. “We’re coming to get you, Barbara.” “Cant,” Jon returned and would have shrugged if they weren’t worried about sliding off the robot’s shoulder. They dug their heel in, scooting upward a little and held onto the pipe anyway. “Not without a container, it ain't memory metal.” Wrapping an arm around the massive bot’s head, Jon reached behind them, cycling through the quiver to pull loose another nondescript metal orb. There was nothing to distinguish it from the others, only Jon knew what was what. “Ring of Steel, like restraints, hit him with it. Try not to get his tail! Damn fucker’s too strong.”
They grabbed another Lead Foot and passed it over. “Quicksand,” they offered. “Don’t waste it, I only got a limited supply.”

all we can do now is follow the path we believe in
So, if Itsuka’s memory was correct (and things concerning combat, they usually were pretty spot on, compared to his half assed attitude about most other things in life.) Green controlled metal and threw balls around and some did weird stuff. So, basically best not to get hit by any balls as those were annoying AF.
And Explosion...well, he made explosions everywhere around him but it was pretty short range (he reckoned it was around 2.3m at the most from his experience), and oh yeah he could catch fire too but again, short range. He didn’t know what the new kid was like, but rather than stand there and find out, it was better to combat the other two he knew about.
One thing he did notice though, was the mech. The hell was that?? Did the kid pilot it like a G*ndam or something?? Oh well, he’d find out soon.
The one good thing about Itsuka being rather small was he could move around urban terrain with relative ease. Jumping up onto the roof of one building, he kicked off the ball of his foot, hopping over to the next building before zig zagging around over to where there were more warehouse like buildings.
Maybe he was going a little too fast, but it wasn’t like any villain was going to stand there and wait for you like some shounen anime, nor were you ever going to be 100% suited quirk match wise to a criminal you had to catch, so sometimes you just had to improvise. (Like a certain someone who was infamously a bad match for Itsuka himself but it wasn’t like he ever gave up trying to defeat that fucking giant.)
That was when he felt something come flying towards him and dodged, and one of those weird silvery ball things wizzed past him with incredible force. The fuck was that? It was Green's ball but clearly not thrown by the student, so he could only guess it was the new guy.
He bolted into the nearest building hoping to make the students lose sight of him, atleast for a few moments. It wasn't his final destination he had planned, but he guessed a detour was in order.

Friendship.
He doubted anyone could appear quite so deadpan in the face of such a stupid joke. He hated this lesson.
Quirks not you, easy for him to say. He might have said something particularly (nothing Jon would have deserved, of course), but luckily for the shorter boy, the lesson was the only thing that mattered anymore.
It shouldn't have been a surprise that Meka really was pulling no stops in this. This wasn't baby-mode, they'd be lucky if they got through this. And hell, it would be fucking humiliating if they couldn't at least fucking catch the bastard, right? Luckily Isaac did have a means of at least keeping up with the teacher, for the most part. So when the large robotic entity offered the hand, he quickly took it and vaulted onto its back. Kazume hated feeling useless, he hated not being able to do something, but (despite his rather short temper) he was good at waiting for the right moment to strike.
The trap was about as useless as if they were flinging rocks at Meka like a couple of cavemen. It didn't make much sense for Meka to spend the entire lesson running from him, certainly not very villainous but he'd never actually seen the guy do well at acting like anything but an unemotional blob. So he certainly wasn't expecting any sense out of him. It was very possible they were being led somewhere. Was it a trap of the teachers own?
If that was the case then they really couldn't let him get out of sight, could they? Certainly couldn't make things easy on him.
Kazume really was fucking tired of riding on this things back. With a sigh, he adjusted and peeled the gloves from his hand using his teeth. He'd need them for this job it would seem, which he wasn't a fan of considering well... obviously he didn't have the greatest level of control half the time.
"Okay fuck this, next opportunity... throw me instead. None of those damn balls are gonna stop him, so I will." There was the possibility it could fail, which meant either a lot of frustration or a lot of pain and a rather hard landing, but it really had to be better than this bullshit. Okay... maybe he wasn't all that great at waiting.

The instant he saw Itsuka react from the eagle-eye view of his drone, Isaac knew that he'd already missed. The metallic ball sailed right past and burst against the wall beyond. The curious bit was that the teacher hadn't so much as looked his direction, simple darting sideways like it was the most natural thing in the world. Keen hearing? Motion sensors built into equipment? simple battlefield instincts honed over the years? Whatever the case, it was clear enough that standard ranged attacks wouldn't be effective now that Itsuka knew to expect them. Perhaps he could use some careful placement to manage a hit, but apparently his assumptions about Jon's quirk hadn't quite been accurate. They had a limited supply of these orbs to work with, which meant that his ranged options were rather limited... lessons for later.
Still, though the first pitch hadn't hit, it had at least had the effect of slowing the professor's pace a bit. As he slowed and ducked into one of the structures, Isaac kept up his pace and continued to bound across the rooftops. Jon offered him another of the quicksand orbs, but he just tucked it away for now, instead piloting the drone up along the windows to continue tracking Itsuka. "Excuse me professor, but I have a quick question if you don't mind. What are the rules regarding collateral damage during this exercise?" His voice called out from the quad-copter, all the while the Raiju continued to close in.
It was a serious enough inquiry, but there was also a chance that suddenly hearing a voice so close could distract their opponent a bit, which was always helpful. And while he was waiting on the response, his brain was busy with calculations. Because Kazume was right, trying to ping him with one of the orbs from this distance wasn't their best course of action. 'At full speed, looks like he hits around 80 kilometers per hour, with a current distance of roughly 90 meters and gaining up to 12 per second when out in the open...' He reached out and ripped a chunk out of an air conditioner unit as he passed, another set of trajectory lines appearing in his vision once he made a rough calculation of its weight. 'Effective range is adequate, but after increasing the mass... Should still be able to make it.' He nodded, tightening his grip on the piece of machinery as the targeting solution finished resolving.
"I believe you are correct Kazume, but landing might be a bit rough. Jonny, you may wish to be holding on tighter."
A he delivered the warning, the Raiju kicked off the edge of the building, hanging in the air for the briefest of moments before plates along it's back and legs shifted open. The whole frame lurched as cones of flame erupted out the back, thrusters firing the bot forward to close the distance between him and the structure the teacher currently resided within. As they cut out, Isaac hurled his makeshift projectile, and then immediately reached up for the redhead. "I suggest bracing yourself." As the mass of metal smashed through a window ahead of Itsuka, Isaac grabbed hold of his fellow student and lobbed him through the newly-formed hole, hopefully delivering him without too much personal damage.
Once he was clear, The Raiju's thrusters fired once again, sending the bot sideways for a brief moment before a third burst carried it through another window behind the teacher. Isaac shifted himself as he went through the glass, grabbing hold of Jon to protect him before rolling back to his feet and getting ready to move again.
