Today was a long day. Her haul from her daily 'walk' brought in a good sum for at least a couple days. She had some extra pocket change to get some of the kids some candy and her some supplies for school. Misao wasn't the average thief who only stole solely for herself, she thought of the other kids who lived with her as well. Since she was one of the oldest in the building, she was sort of their big sister. She mainly stole to supplement what the orphanage did not provide for her. There would be small extras that she needed such as extra pencils, pens, notebooks, then there would be some small things she didn't need such as snacks when she was on her walks or even some extra food since her quirk made her quite hungry after flying for a while. The day was almost over and she had spent it going through the more busier parts of the city. She was rather far from the orphanage and she should have started to go towards home again, but a thought still nagged at her. Her half-brother. She had never met him, nor he had met her, but she wanted to meet him. For what? She didn't know for sure why she wanted to see him so badly. Maybe to get some closure, maybe to find some meaning in her life. Either way, she had his photo in her hoodie pocket and would ask if she could get the courage to do so. So far she hasn't had the courage to ask, but maybe today would be the day.
The thought of her family made the girls heart burn with several emotions. Sadness, hatred, longing. All her life she thought she was born under a bad star. Her mother and her struggled to eek out a living with what they were given and what her mother could earn from her several part time jobs. When her mother wasn't drunk or sleeping throughout the day, Misao would hear her talk a little about Misao's father. Because the man didn't want anything more to do with Misao's mother, she would be out of the experience to have a complete family. She wondered just why she was born other than to be the mistake that prevented her mother from going home back to her comfy life in Britain. All I have been so far is a burden. A burden to father, a burden to mother, and now a burden to the orphanage who has too many kids to take care of. Misao thought with a slightly uncharacteristically dark emotion clouding her mind. Why was I born if all I was to be was a burden to everyone? Misao bit back tears as she walked with her head down. She was not one to feel sorry for herself, but today just was not her day. Dark and sad thoughts plagued her mind at times; usually the kids she lived with could break her out of it, but since she wasn't around anyone right now, she would stew in them for a while before she could get home.
"Stupid onii-chan....he was the one father wanted..." Misao said outloud to nobody in particular. Her olive green eyes narrowed as she kicked a rock. Her dark wings flexed behind her as she walked. She could not hide her wings, nor would she want to. Her mother taught her how to care for them and how to prepare clothes for them. The quirk she was born with was mainly from her mother's family with some parts she figured were from her father. However, the main part was from the Hughes bloodline. Her body was fragile and light like a bird. As breakable too. Though that allowed her to have more agile movements on land and in air. She could turn on a dime while flying high and dive quickly too. "What's my purpose then? Huh? Mom? You gonna come back from the dead to tell me that?!" Misao's small voice trilled angrily like small bells, a small chirp from an angry Sparrow. Her blonde hair flared in the wind that blew around her as her mouth twisted into a grimace. "Stupid....stupid...they're all so stupid, mother, father, onii-chan!"
Slowly Misao withdrew from those dark thoughts to look up where she was. Did she make a wrong turn somewhere? Why was she in an alleyway? Questions floated through her mind as she pulled down her hood to reveal her blonde hair. She wore her usual middle school uniform with her worn out sneakers. Over that was her hoodie that had large holes in the back to fit her wings. Her wings were a midnight black with flecks of brown and silver throughout the feathers. Her wings were not overly large, but for her body size they were a little over what was considered normal even for birds. Her small frame made her seem younger than she was so she was often not spotted till the last moment due to her small and quiet statue. Her wings flared with her irritation, shuffling on her back instead of being tucked neatly behind her like usual while she walked. "Has anyone seen my onii-chan?!" She yelled in her frustration at the now darkening sky that had bright red and orange tones mixed together with the white pastel clouds.

"Alright, please sign here and we're good to go." Leon passed over a clipboard and a pen to the man on the other side of the doorway with a practiced smile. An older gent, about.... five foot ten? Scruffy grey-blonde hair, eye patch covering the left side of his face. Looked Russian, if he had to guess, practically screamed shady bastard, but then again; that was the job. After the man applied his signature, the brown-haired youth took the clipboard back and traded the man a medium sized box. He had no idea what was in the box, but that wasn't his business and he had learned a long time ago to do everything in his power to keep it that way. Kept things simple. As the man took the box, he gave a nod of his head and a vaguely appreciative grunt, concluding the exchange before shutting the door and leaving the boy alone in the alleyway.
And with that, the last delivery of the day was done and an extra paycheck was in his account. Tucking the clipboard back under his arm, Leon turned around and walked back towards where he'd parked his motorcycle. The neighborhood he found himself in was perfectly fitting of the work he had just concluded; run down, and sketchy as hell. At first glance it looked mostly abandoned, but those with more keen senses would know better. The stray animals and rodents lurking just beyond sight, the crows gazing down from on high, the curious eyes watching from a distance... Most people his age would probably be pretty nervous about finding themselves in a place like this with the sun going down, but he just strode forward with an almost bored expression, his long coat trailing behind him as he moved. This sort of place was what he grew up in, and he knew how to deal with it.
No, the primary thing on Leon's mind was what to occupy his time with for the evening, and he continued to ponder it even as he reached his bike, finding a black cat perched upon the leather seat. Going back home was always an option, though the old lady would probably have some more 'work' for him to do, and he was still sore from the last training exercise. Maybe he could sneak Iris out for a trip to the movies? Grab dinner somewhere? Hell, even just going for a run or heading somewhere to do some sketching weren't terrible ideas. He reflexively reached out to pet the cat while he weighed his choices, and soon enough the stray was leaning into his hand as he scratched behind it's ear. Cats had always liked him for some reason.
Before he could come to any sort of decision though, the relative quiet of the back streets was disturbed by a sudden cry from one of the neighboring alleyways. Spooked, the cat hopped down and darted away while Leon's head snapped toward the source of the noise. Given where he was, one hand instinctively went for the knife at his waist, but as he looked down the path he was thinking that it probably wasn't necessary. Standing in the middle of the alley was a young girl with a pair of outstretched black wings at her back. From a glance he could see that she probably wasn't even in her teens and her clothes were a bit on the shabby side. It was obvious enough that she had been the source of the shout, and the look on her face was one of frustration and distress. None of these were things that you wanted to see in a neighborhood like this one.
Without even really stopping to think about it, Leon slipped his knife back into place and started to make his way over. He didn't quite catch what she'd said, but a kid was a kid and even he had his morals. "Hey, is everything alright there?" He asked, slowing his approach as he drew near so as to not alarm her. When he got close enough, he knelt down so that he was at eye level and put on a smile warm enough that no one in their right mind would have been able to guess what his true work entailed. "This isn't the sort of place that a little girl should be by herself, especially not this late. Are you lost? Need help finding something?"

What was the word that she heard from the adults at the orphanage? Stranger danger? Well, whatever it was, it was what she had to be weary of now. However, with how she was talking to herself and how loudly she had yelled, it was no surprise that she caught the attention of someone. Quickly her wings extended and tensed as if to fly away quickly. She wasn't good at quick take offs, but she was skilled enough to at least move away using the wind underneath her wings as she moved them. Her olive green eyes darted towards the new stranger as she took a step back, her sneakers crunching over the small bits of gravel that lay strewn over the alleyway. The sky was steadily getting darker. That was to Misao's advantage if she needed to quickly get away. However much she was weary of the stranger who approached her, she did kinda ask for this so why not use the situation to her advantage? After all, she needed to find her half brother at all costs. She already had the picture, so why not ask random strangers if they knew who he was or if they knew where to find him?
The man in front of her seemed to be pretty calm, which helped to keep Misao calm. She hadn't thought to grab her knife which was hidden on a small belt beneath her hoodie, but then again, she wasn't one to just pull it on random innocent people. Just wasn't her style. She had seen too much darkness to let herself consume others in her darkness. Her frustration and worry still flickered across her face. Misao could not hide that from the man since he already saw her when she was crying out in her anger. Her mother taught her a bit on how to deal with strangers: run away, fly away, just don't talk to them. One can guess it was because of just who her mother borrowed money from, but it was sound advice for a young child regardless. Misao's wings half opened as her heart raced. Like a bird narrowly avoiding danger, she could hear her heartbeat in her ears. She almost didn't catch what the man had started to say. From what she heard, she was worried about her. Why? What did he have to gain from worrying about her? Misao wasn't used to having someone really worry for her, though she figured it was just politeness happening now.
"Um...." Misao started to say in her quiet soft trill of her voice. A chip of a small sparrow. It was light and airy, but also with a slight edge of darkness with how she was brought up. "I-I'm okay, just....frustrated." So far she decided that honesty was going to be a good thing right now, until he proved otherwise. He had said that it was too dangerous for her to be out and about at this time and in this area. At that Misao sighed and lowered her heard. He wasn't wrong, but she had taken far too many 'walks' out at night to clear her head. She was supposed to be in her bed at the orphanage, but what they didn't know, wouldn't hurt them. Her eyes lowered to the ground as she was about to just turn around to fly back home, but a thought stopped her. She had wanted to find her half brother. She hadn't started asking around yet, but maybe with this man she would try. Even if his answer was nothing short or 'sorry kiddo, no can do', she figured that at least trying would be an accomplishment towards her goal.
Taking a deep breath, Misao rummaged in her hoodie pocket to grab the picture of Sen Onishi along with their father in the picture. Before she turned the photo towards the stranger, she looked up with a sad look in her eye that quickly turned to unease. Would she just be a burden to this man as well for even asking him? Biting her lip, she just started to talk to him at first. "I'm okay, i'm tough, ya know?" Misao said as she looked up at him earnestly, as if her old soul eyes could be enough to convince him. "I've been out this late before. I like the dark, it's easier to think in the dark. Plus, I don't like being 'there' all that much. Too many kids and the adults really don't care about who they take care of. Out here I can be myself, I can take care of myself." She didn't care if he was won over by her words, they were more of a prayer to her. A mantra she told herself. I'm fine, i'm fine, I don't need anyone. They don't need me. Those would be her thoughts over and over throughout her time in the orphanage. "I'm looking for someone, oniichan, and I have been trying to get the courage to ask someone if they have seen him. He doesn't know who I am, but I found out he is my half brother."
Taking another deep breath, she quickly finished and held up the photo containing her father and Sen Onishi. "My name is Misao Hughes and the boy in this photo is my half brother, Sen Onishi. Have you seen my onii-chan?" She waited with baited breath. Would he just shake his head and send her on her way? Would he send the police to her to bring her back to the orphanage? She wasn't sure. Her body shook with worry at just letting it all out there. Slowly she withdrew the photo and looked down. "If you don't know, thank you anyway, mister oniichan."

In spite of the friendly face he put on, Leon noticed the girl tense and prepare to dart as he approached, and he had to bite back a chuckle. Smart girl, good instincts. You never trusted someone just because they looked nice, which made this girl all of a sudden seem not so out of place after all... Still too young in a dangerous neighborhood of course, but at least it seemed like she had her wits about her. She looked like she was debating whether to answer him or just take off... the latter of which wasn't exactly a terrible idea and he wouldn't have blamed her for it, but she eventually came down on the former. He watched as she retrieved a picture from her pocket, but didn't show it right away; instead talking a bit about herself first.
As Leon met the girl's gaze, he found the smile that he'd put on slipping away. Before she'd even said a word, he could already tell a good deal about the girl he was looking it. She was someone who had already experienced some of the worst society had to offer. He saw another kid forgotten by the system, another kid beyond their years, forced to grow up fast so that they don't get eaten alive. Someone that did what they needed to survive, even if it wasn't always the 'right' thing. Someone that acted strong to fool themselves as much as others. Someone that understood just how dark it could get. And how did he know all of that? Because this girl had the same look in her eyes that he did before the Kastavel family picked him up... Maybe not as much anger, but the weariness, the distrust, the pain. What she said only proved to drive the similarities home.
'I'm tough, ya know?'
'It's easier to think in the dark.'
'Out here I can be myself, I can take care of myself.'
It was like looking in a god damn mirror.
"God, do I know how that is." Leon let himself shift from his knee and plopped down on the pavement with a rueful smile. "Always hated those damn places, had better luck sleeping under the stars. It gets tough though, doesn't it?" If this girl was anything like he was when he was younger, he was sure that she could probably back up her claim and take care of herself, but the fact that she even had to was nothing to be proud about. Just having a kindred spirit to talk to could help, and it seemed like the girl wanted to get that off her chest, but it wasn't the only thing she was after.
Before he even looked at the picture, the boy reflexively started to return the girl's greeting. "You can call me Leo, nice to m-" But he froze. He didn't mean to freeze, it certainly wasn't a normal occurrence for someone that had seen and done as much as he had, but it happened all the same. It wasn't a long one either, just a split second twitch as his eyes drifted down to the image she held out. "-eet you Misao." He had no idea who the old guy was, but the other one; the 'brother' that this girl was looking for, was a face he recognized almost instantly. Sure, the guy usually wore a mask, but the facial structure, the hair, the eyes: they were all the same. Onishi Sen, that's what she'd said, right? But that wasn't the name he knew the guy by. Leon only knew him as Revenant. A villain, a thief, a murderer, chaos incarnate.
Glancing back from the photo to Misao, Leon tried to keep his emotions concealed, but he knew that it was almost impossible to hide the hint of surprise in his sharp grey eyes. This girl was related to that asshole? No, he couldn't see it. "...You're absolutely sure this guy's your brother?"

"I did it before that place, and I can do it while i'm in it. I'm tough for sure, mister onii-chan!" Misao said as she answered him.
She did it! She finally got the courage to ask about the burning question in the back of her mind. Due to her immense relief in finally asking, her body shook slightly as she listened to the man ask her if he really was her brother. What is that supposed to mean? Misao said with a worried thought. She noticed he didn't say he knew him or not, so that was what threw her off the most. Misao brushed back a piece of her hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear. Her wings shuffled with her nervous and uneasy feelings. This man gave no reason to trust him, but he hasn't given her any reason to distrust him. In any case, she would keep on her guard before anything should happen. Misao's dark green eyes looked at the mister in front of her as she hid the picture back into her hoodie pocket for safekeeping. She noticed the surprise in his expression, but that only made her questions about her brother grow more. Did Leo know him? Were they on good terms? What exactly was her brother? She read up that the Onishi family had something bad happen to them. Misao figured that her brother would know what happened to their father so she could get her revenge for abandoning her mother. It went deeper than that. Much deeper. However, Misao didn't want to think about that due to how easily it would get her within her dark moods.
"Yes, i'm sure. Even if my mother was drunk, she was at least an honest drunk." It pained Misao to recall the many times her mother drank and had her drunken rages, but it was a topic that tended to come up when she thought about 'what if she had never known who her father was?'. Misao took after her mother in terms of main quirk abilities and looks. She had the blonde hair of the Hughes' bloodline and the dark olive green eyes that they had as well. The only thing that was anything remotely like the Onishi would have been her ability to sink into the shadows and use them as a sort of hiding cloak. The bright purple eye color was a big give away as well. Her hands tightened into small fists as she looked at Leon with hardened eyes. No weakness. No pain. Just staying strong for the sake of her own life. Life at the orphanage wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best either. Her home life with her mother was slightly better, if only for the fact she was allowed to go anywhere she wanted since her mother didn't really care either way. Misao took care of the cleaning, the cooking (when she was old enough to), and even took care to try and do her homework as best as she could. She was smart, but her street smarts were better. "She said my father was an Onishi and I wasn't even a thought in his mind. I'm sure SenOnii-chan doesn't know about me. I just want to see him and ask him some questions is all...." Her voice faded away as she looked at Leon fiercely, her wings flexing as if wanting to run but she could not bring herself to go.
"Please, LeoOnii-chan, if you know anything, even just a little, I wanna know so I can at least see if I have SOME pur---" Misao cut herself off, that wasn't part of the topic at hand, she had to stop before she got too emotional about this. "I just need to know, is all. I will take care of the rest when I get to that point."

Leon didn't need to hear Misao's response to know what the answer was going to be, he was just trying to come to terms with this brand new revelation. Out of all of the people in the world, why did it have to be someone he knew from work? Not the sorry excuse for a day job either. She seemed like a nice enough girl, and sure she was in a pretty familiar situation, but the person in front of him didn't look like the sort that really belonged in that life. Was that his decision to make? Probably not, but the choices he made in life were his own, and he wouldn't wish them on anyone who had the fortune of an alternate path.
And it was for that reason that the youth hesitated in answering the girl's question, long enough that she began to press harder and slipped up as a result. She may have caught herself before she finished the sentence, but the message was clear enough. And it made Leon's eyes narrow as that flame buried within flickered to life. That constant reminder of why he did what he did. This Misao's story really did hit way too close to home. "...Look, I realize we just met, but you remind me a lot of, well... me. So let me offer you just a little bit of advice, one orphan street urchin to another." He locked eyes with Misao, his face passive and his voice continuing in a matter of fact tone in spite of the brief flare up. "I don't care who this guy is to you, you don't let anyone tell you what you're worth in this world; that's up to you to decide. You want to make something of yourself? You want a purpose? Then you can damn well do that for yourself, doesn't matter what anyone else has to say about it." He broke off his gaze as the anger passed and he stared off blankly at the brick wall of the alley. "Let's just say that's a lesson learned from personal experience."
"Now..." With his message delivered, he continued. "...Maybe that face rings a few bells, and maybe, just maybe, I could pull a few strings and try to set something up for you. But you've got no idea who that really is, and what it means to meet someone like that." Leon barely resisted the overwhelming urge to roll his eyes at the mental image of Revenant's reaction to meeting a little girl like this. As endearing as the man's outbursts were once you got used to him, it was a rare individual that could put up with him that long and adapt. "It's the sort of world that's not so easy to leave once you enter, and its definitely not sunshine and rainbows in there. So I'm going ask you one more time, are you sure about this?" The boy once again shifted to meet the girl's gaze. Even if he had no intention of taking someone down that path himself, this one wasn't his decision to make, and even without him she'd find her way there eventually if she really wanted to.

Tokyo.
He fucking hated this place with a passion.
Everything seemed bright, clean, almost clinical, fake. It was known as the city of heroes, and Aya usually tried his very best to avoid this place as it reminded him a little too much of everything he hated. Normies, his ex co-workers, his ex bosses, his parents. Behind the bright, shiny facade was murky, just as dirty if not worse than Kansai but the people here were so pretentious they tried to cover it all up. It left a bitter taste in his mouth, an urge to destroy, see everything burn, incinerate and crumble around him in ashes until everything was silent and still.
...but that could happen later, not today.
Today, he had an important reason to be in this detested town.
He had to go to Akiba to pick up some very rare and limited edition items from a pop up shop that was only going to be there for a week, because the fools hated Kansai and only prioritised Tokyo for these sorts of events. So he had to personally go there and pick it all up himself.
Sen had come with him also, but Aya had a very ingenious plan this time to make sure his lover didn’t get bored out of his skull while he went shopping. (like he had the last time they both went to Akiba and the black haired man INSISTED on following, and stuff happened involving a schoolgirl and a figure that the violet haired man would not ever like to mention ever...)
He had dropped the other male at a certain establishment in Takeshita Road, Harajuku in midst of all the weirdly dressed normies and cosplayers. The man seemed very confused initially, until he saw where he was being taken to and his eyes lit up. It worked perfectly, (well, as expected of himself, all his plans would work perfectly if everyone followed the plan…) and Sen was only too happy to stay and probably wouldn’t move until Aya was done.
After procuring the items he had wanted, he made his way back to the train station, taking a few back roads to make it quicker. He pulled out his phone and tapped on an icon, yes, Sen was still at the Cat cafe. Good, all he had to do was pick him up, get on the Shinkansen and go home. Down one of the roads, he could see a young blonde girl talking to a tall young man, but he didn’t pay them much mind as he walked past them- he had no reason to care about any mob character, nor did they look like Onishi affiliated Yazkua who were out to get him so it was all fine.
Before the whole “Sen-getting-sent-to-kill-him” incident, Aya would have gone on these sort of outings relatively unarmed with just his knives and bombs but now he was a little more careful, even though he didn’t cover his face with some kind of mask like he did when around Osaka, he did have Kimi with him, though his protective weapon didn’t really seem all that out of place, just looked like two brothers on a day out as the marionette followed him a few steps behind, its head slightly lowered and hair almost covering its eyes.

Despite her having a baggy hoodie on over her middle school uniform, she was shivering. It was mostly due to how emotional she was getting over this and not due to how cold her body tends to get when the night comes. Since her body was like a birds just in human form, it meant she got colder easier. Her body was so thin and small that even the slightest bit of cold was bad for her. Her wings flexed behind her with her agitation over the situation. This man seemed to know something about her brother and she wanted to know what it was. However, he seemed rather quiet about it and so it would be harder for her to get the information. So far this man did nothing still to make her distrust him. In fact, the more she talked to him, the more she felt he could understand where she came from, the life she led up until this moment. Her smile did not come to her face, though when he did call them both street urchins, she had to smirk just a slight bit. It wasn't in her to interrupt him as he talked, she liked his attitude so far and so would let it continue on until he proved he couldn't be trusted. However, when he started to talk, her smirk dropped quickly off her face as she looked down. Of course nobody can tell her what her worth is, but due to the circumstances of her birth, she felt she had just been an accident and wasn't worth putting anything interesting in this world. At least, those dark thoughts would be the ones she would have when times became too hard for her to focus properly or get a handle of herself.
When he told her that it wasn't rainbows and sunshine in the world that her brother apparently lived in, she resisted the urge to laugh. Misao had never seen rainbows or sunshine, only darkness that offered her the cool comfort of it's embrace when she had to hide away. Her hands clenched into tiny fists, her wings and body shaking as she had to get a handle of her emotions. No, I will not show weakness....not to this man, not to anyone! Misao held his gaze as he continued to speak. In all essence of the situation, she looked pretty damn adorable holding back her own anger over being told that she shouldn't go about this path. A tiny bird girl who was a small bean in comparison to most people around her. "Thanks for the concern, but my whole life has never been sunshine and rainbows. I've always been walking that line between okay and hell." It was harsh for her to curse like that, but she was not wanting him to think that she was fragile. Well, her body was, but her mind was a thousand times harder than her bones and wings. She pushed aside the conversation about worth for another time, if she ever got another time to talk with Leo that is, and pushed on about Sen Onishi. "Please, LeoOni-chan, I just want to see for my own eyes what the other side is like. He was wanted, I wasn't. I want to know why I was tossed aside, at the very least. Sen Onishi might have the answers I am looking for." Her voice was a small trill of anxiety and emotion. Not quiet pleading, but there would be no other word to describe it than that.
Misao's olive green eyes dropped to the ground as her wings reflexively started to wrap around her body to comfort her and also give her some warmth, if any at all. I will not cry in front of him!

Sen had been beginning to feel depressed. And when he got depressed, there was a higher likeliness of people dying (anything to alleviate the empty boredom of it all). He couldn't begin to understand exactly why, perhaps he just hadn't killed enough people. He certainly hadn't been able to fight anyone as much as he might have wished, which made him antsy and irrational. There just weren't enough adversaries in the world to fill the gaping empty chasm of boredom within him. It had occurred when he returned after working with his family, again. He wasn't exactly proud of having stooped that low and he was still in the process of figuring himself out since that point. He wasn't the same, that much he knew, there was an extra dose of unease and anxiety that he just couldn't seem to shrug off no matter how hard he tried. The sun was still out when they headed to Tokyo, which was weird and annoying. "Can we kill the sun, please?" He had spent the entire transit over to Tokyo complaining and by the time they made it there the day was, thankfully, almost over. For most of the way, he had grudgingly thought that Aya was taking him shopping again (which was insane considering how that went down last time) and so was in an especially foul mood for it, but no, the beautiful bastard did something he wasn't expecting. And he almost felt bad for giving him so much fuss on the way there. He brought him to a Cat Cafe, told him to have fun, and then left. Sen was partially concerned that Aya was leaving him for good, like a box of unwanted puppies on the side of the road, but then realized he was willing to deal with that for now (considering where he was). I may have been abandoned and am now possibly homeless again, but at least there are cats. The politics of kitty society were very complex and intricate. For all the stupid fuckers out there too hollow-headed to know better: cats are fucking brilliant. They should run society. Hell, they probably already do and humanity was incapable of denying their superior status within society. Sen had managed to collect a grand total of five cats so far and scared off anyone stupid enough to attempt to take his new family. Hinata was a little calico, she napped a lot and hated when people touched her feet. She also hated Shu (the grey tabby) who smacked her tail and chased her off his cat tree (he was possessive of his tree). Soy was an overweight Persian who couldn't fit through the cat door. Her favorite thing was yelling at people and conning fools into giving her extra treats (she was not allowed to eat treats as she was on a diet, but she was a sneaky one). Chipper was a ginger, and not the smartest of kitties— he was a grand two kilograms, was shaped like a bouncy ball, and had a habit of smacking his face into the window in attempt to hunt down a particularly elusive goldfinch that taunted him from afar. His favorite was Himiko, a lovely long-haired black cat, who was foul-tempered and yet the most elegant queen who ever lived that ruled over the rest with her impressive power (she smacked the shit out of them if they got close to her). They were perfect.

Alright, he probably could have worded that better. That's what Leon was thinking when Misao gave him her response, since it seemed she hadn't quite grasped what kind of warning he was trying to give. "If your life has been anything like mine, you 'ought to know by now that some hells are a bit deeper than others." He said with a matter of fact tone, unconsciously flexing his burn-covered hand as if his body itself was trying to prove his point for him. He was doing his best not to seem like he was patronizing her. For once he wasn't just being a smart ass; he was sincerely trying to warn someone off from something that would only cause them grief. Everything about the person in front of Leon told him that that wasn't a world she should be in. She was clearly anxious, quivering, barely holding her emotions together... and yet as she once again asked what he knew, the boy knew that she wasn't going to give this up. If he didn't give her what she wanted, she'd just keep looking, probably end up out of her depth and in more trouble than she could imagine. At least if he was there, he could make sure that...
Leon shook his head and let out a sigh. These attacks of conscience weren't a common occurrence for him, at least not when they involved that side of his life, not when "Wisp" was a factor. The rage usually won out over the sympathy, but he couldn't help but feel a connection to this one. "...Fine. I'll see what I can do." He said, admitting defeat as he stood himself back up off the pavement. Against what he knew to be his better judgement, he'd made the decision because something told him he'd regret the alternative. The real question was, how the hell could he pull this off? He flicked out his phone but hesitated before unlocking and logging in to the chat client. He'd taken great care to keep information about his personal life a secret from these people, was there anyway he could maintain that in this situation? Probably... no, definitely, he just had to play it the right way...
As the boy contemplated the issue he glanced back toward his young new acquaintance. He saw her wrapped up in her own wings, trying to hold herself together, and he paused again with another pang of morality. "Look Misao, I realize that I can't talk you out of this, but I've gotta make sure you understand something about this 'Sen', and I'm sorry if it's not what you want to hear. He's an abrasive son of a bitch that does whatever he wants whenever he wants. Simply put, he's an asshole, and I can almost guarantee that you're not gonna get the answers you're looking for outta him." He spoke with an apologetic tone in this last warning, but he knew that it wouldn't change anything and he continued regardless, swiping across his phone and logging on to access the Hive.

As Aya passed the two down the narrow street, he swore he heard Sen’s name being mentioned by the blonde female child. Maybe he was imagining things as he was being more careful about his surroundings these days. Or maybe they did really say Sen’s name, well it wasn’t like the man was an unknown being, one that was meant to be MIA right now at that, so it wasn’t so weird for someone to possibly be talking about the Onishi heir, even if it was extreme coincidence. It didn’t really matter either way. he supposed. It wasn’t like he could slow down or stop anyway, that would make it seem suspicious and it may cause them even more issues, specially as he wasn’t exactly disguised at all. He remembered Sen’s words and was under the assumption that sooner or later the man’s mother would be coming for them, and he wanted them both to stay inconspicuous in their civilian forms as much as possible for as long as possible, it should, in his calculations, buy them more time to plan something effective against this particular “problem”. He was a few meters away when his watch gave him a notification- a private message from Wisp, out of all people… Stopping where he was with a frown, thankfully as he was in an alley it gave a little privacy, he pulled out his phone and opened up the application and read the message. Another rather well timed coincidence. The Marionettist: ...you really are keeping up with your promise of calling me by an incorrect name each time...I suppose the effort is slightly commendable… and did your contact tell you why they were looking for Revenant? |
He typed back the message and pressed send.

If there ever was a picture of a frantic trill of a birds voice, it was the voice of Misao Hughes. Her body was much like a bird that was turned human; the fragile bones that seemingly made of glass or paper that one touch could shatter them into a thousand pieces. However, it was the fire and darkness within Misao's own eyes and heart that carried her further than she would have if she had grown up any other way. Her strength came from within. A fragile container for such fire. The streets were both her prison and her savior. They offered her safe haven while making it harder for her to fly higher and out of harms way. So that is what she did, she made sure to make herself into something harmful if it meant she could stay alive just a bit longer. The darkness within her heart would consume her at times, but she always seemed to drag herself out at the last moment after she settled into it for far too long. Still she clung to her one light, the knowledge that she could find either her brother or her father and get some answers for her life. She was not foolish as to think that Sen would hold all of the answers, but she figured he at least knew something. The tears that threatened her before were forced back as she kept her gaze steady upon Leo. She was taking a great risk trusting him like this, but she would be willing to take some risks to find what she had been looking for. Or at least what she thought she was looking for.
"I know what hell is like, LeoOnii-chan, and I haven't been able to climb out of it so far." Her voice was barely above a whisper, her eyes now stared straight down as her mouth twisted into a dark grimace. She did not pity her own life, only wanted to make something better out of it. So far she was unable to get herself out, but with time she was certain she could do something about it. Nobody wanted to adopt her at the orphanage. She wasn't sure why, but the grown-ups whispered it was because of her quirk and how Misao came to be at the orphanage. It was no secret she was half British and that her mother was murdered. Misao only guessed it was because nobody wanted to risk getting hit themselves with being associated with her. The thoughts that came after overhearing two of the caretakers talking about her and her past made her burn with anger, but then the darkness came and wrapped around her like a comforting blanket. She didn't eat well, she didn't sleep well, and the only thing that brought her out of her dark days was her friends trying to cheer her up. It usually works, but sometimes there is just no helping her.
Misao looked up at the man, the actual stranger in front of her, that was showing her some kindness. It was a street wise type of kindness, but it was the most kindness Misao had been shown in the last two years. He had started to speak to her again. This time Misao tried very hard to keep her emotions and anxieties to a bare minimum so as not to lose her cool. She would not go down the route towards another bout of dark days over this. She had too much to risk to let her emotions cloud her now. As he talked, he was telling her things she already knew and had come to terms with. She did not bother with the daydreams of one day her brother coming to save her. There was no such things as prince or princess charming and happily ever afters were nothing more than a beautiful lie. Still though, life had already thrown her to the wolves once, why not once more? Misao looked up at Leo with a half-hearted sigh of her exhaustion over this. She knew he was trying to help her by telling her about how her brother was. "I've already thought about the downsides to meeting my brother, LeoOnii-chan. I just...I can't explain it but I think in order to move forward I have to do this. In order to escape this prison I have to see Sen Onishi. My mom died two years ago, my father was basically a deadbeat, and now I am living in an orphanage with people who don't even care and with no chance of being adopted. I have to find a way out of this cage and I am going to start with Sen Onishi." She watched as he made a quick text on his phones, watching his fingers as they tap tap tapped the phone.
Her hand went to her heart. It was beating so fast that she wasn't sure how it was still working at this point. The quick heart beat also helped bring blood through her veins when she flew. The frail body needed all it could to withstand the take offs and landings. Much like a baby bird was, she had been taught to fly by her mother, but after that, she learned on her own how to take care of herself. So far she didn't do too badly, just a few bumps and bruises, cuts and scrapes, nothing out of the normal. All I want is a way out of this cage.

Leon froze, again only for the briefest of seconds. Almost instantly after he'd pressed the send button, he could hear the sound of a phone going off behind him and tingling feeling crept down his spine. Huh, want an odd coincidence... Was what he wanted to tell himself, but the nagging feeling demanded that he check. Rather than just turning around, he adjusted his phone so that he could down the alley in the reflection. Up until that point, Leon had maintained a fairly soft, almost kindly expression during his conversation with Misao, but in that moment his grey eyes sharpened and went cold.
Wisp could see a man standing there, probably mid twenties with violet hair, and a kid with blonde hair following close behind... Except and he'd seen that other one before, and it definitely wasn't a kid. He watched as the man pulled out his phone and appeared to be responding to a text, only for his own phone to light up a second later. Of fucking course. Purple hair? Check. Ridiculous European Gothic clothing? Check. Creepy ass life-like doll following him around? Check. What the hell was with his luck today? It was just supposed to be a normal delivery, but noooo. First he runs into a girl that wants to meet the king of assholes, and he did actually want to help her, but then the puppet master himself just happens to walk by while they're talking. Part of him wanted to believe it was some sort of stupid trick, but by now he'd already learned the the universe was just that fucked up sometimes.
The air around him had started to heat up slightly as he processed the development, but with a sigh of resignation the furnace died back down. So there was no way out of this now, was there? He'd already run into Marion once while he wasn't in his suit, and the guy was sharp enough that he'd probably be able to recognize him at any sort of meeting. He could have set something up to deal with that, but it looked like that ship had already sailed. All that was left was to deal with it. Wisp looked at Misao one last time, trying to force a smile in spite of the sudden change in demeanor. He hoped she was sharp enough to understand danger signals when she saw them.
"A promise was a promise, Jazz Hands. What the hell are you doing out here? I thought you hated this city." He called back without turning his head to look at the man.

"A promise was a promise, Jazz Hands. What the hell are you doing out here? I thought you hated this city."
A voice, when he thought about it a little more, was one he recognised which made him freeze his movements for a split moment. Wisp.He stayed, his back turned against the source for a few moments as he thought about his options and next actions he should take. So, the natural line of thought was that the young man he had passed a few moments ago was the fellow Hive member. Specially as he had heard Sen’s name being mentioned, and Wisp had been talking about Sen in his message… What in the world was going on? Many lines of thought rushed through his mind as he weighed his options. There was chance, high chance the other man had not seen his face yet. He could just keep walking, blend into the crowd on the main road, get away. But was there any point? And there was a chance the man had already seen his face. On top of all that, he was rather curious about who wanted to see Sen…And if he turned around, he would be on even ground with the other villain, as he was most likely not in disguise either. “...A promise you decided by yourself, and put it upon yourself to keep…” Aya spoke in his usual bored, tired, slightly sarcastic tone as he turned on his heels, Kimi moving up infront of him just incase it was some elaborate trap. He now saw the owner of the voice, a tall brunette who was probably in his late teens, didn’t look fully Japanese, but then he supposed it wasn’t like he was either so he wasn’t one to talk. “You are correct, Tokyo is really the largest piece of trash in the rubbish tip that is Japan, I detest this place. But unfortunately, I had to procure some items here today.” Violet-grey eyes moved to the small female the villain was with, a tiny, grubby looking thing that had large wings and looked like a sparrow that had been rolling around in the sand for a while. Delightful. What was worse was the expression on her face. For some reason it reminded Aya of things he didn’t want to really remember. Part hope, part determination, part despair, part sadness, part confusion, waiting, searching, wondering, lost, putting trust in things that were pointless to trust. That was the kind of face the young female had on its face and it irked him. It was pointless to be that way, he knew more than anyone else. Whatever was making her pull that face, he could with certainty say to give up and move on. There was only devastation and disappointment at the end of that path. He took a few careful steps back towards the two, taking in the scene carefully. “Rather surprising to see you are a baby sitter for your day profession.” He deadpanned with a slight shift of one brow. “I suppose you spoke to me as you need my assistance, what can I help you with?”

Misao had frozen in place as she watched the events unfold around her. The moment that Leo had sent a text, it seemed that the man that had just passed by them also had recieved a text. And then...it just went down from there. There is a feeling one feels when faced with a predator; those cold eyes and that aura around them. Misao had seen it before with some of the people that her mother borrowed money from. They scared Misao then, and she was still scared of them. Despite her fear, however, she tried so hard to keep a strong aura around her so that they would not prey upon her next. Birds were fragile creatures, after all, and just about anything could snap their bones if the bird did not listen to their instincts and fly away. That was how it was looking at Leo. Misao's eyes widened slightly as she just stared at the cold man in front of her. Her wings flexed slightly as if to take off immediately from the spot she was standing. With the sudden rush of her fight or flight instincts and her emotions rising from this whole ordeal, Misao's eyes began to glow and turn a bright violet as she could feel the pull of the shadows around her. She could run, but then all this trouble she went through would be for nothing. She could not stop her quirk from manifesting in this way and so was unable to hide her eyes from them. Heart pounding in her chest, the ability to hide in the shadows grew within her, ready to pull her into the safety of the darkness if the danger got to be too much. Her body was shaking slightly; though someone could chalk that up to her being cold.
Misao's now bright violet eyes looked up at Leo as she saw a forced smile from him. She didn't like the way that looked. As soon as she glanced up at Leo, she sharply turned her head to the approaching man and also looked her up and down. The pull of the shadows came stronger, but Misao held off for the time being. With how Leo changed, she wasn't sure what the danger was, but if it was because of this man, Misao had to stay sharp. The man himself did not seem that scary, just the air around him seemed a bit off. There was also that creepy looking person in front of him which made Misao a bit creeped out, but otherwise he looked normal. The sparrow took a step back and then behind Leo; like a child hiding behind her big brother from a stranger. Her wings still flexed lightly, but barely noticeable if one did not pay much attention to her. This bird was not without her tricks. There was two side to her quirk. One she gained from her mother, the bird mutation and ability to fly, and the other Misao could only guess came from the Onishi bloodline, though it was less so than the quirk she seemed to mainly inherit from her mother's bloodline.
The man had asked what he could help with to Leo. Misao wanted to talk in that moment, but her mouth was dry. She did not like this man. Fear and danger screamed at the young bird girl at max volume in her head. His demeanor reminded her of some of the more dangerous people her mother had borrowed money from; they were the worst and because they did not show much in terms of outward emotion, that was what scared Misao the most. Her small hands reached up to grip onto Leo's coat tightly, her wings shaking slightly because the rest of her body was shaking. However, her bright violet eyes showed no trace of giving in to her fear. She tried to stay strong despite her strong urge to run away. Once she was able to get her voice back, Misao stayed behind Leo, but spoke in a small trill of her voice. To say that her voice was like a bird's chirp was not far off, it was soft and quiet, but she tried very hard to keep it strong and not show any fear.
"I-I want to find my brother! His name is Sen Onishi, and I want to get some answers!" She hadn't meant to yell, though with the way her voice is, it wasn't a yell at all. "Have you seen my onii-chan?" A determined look lit her face as she tried her hardest to not show fear in front of this newcomer.
