Deacon is an odd sight in Japan. Standing at 6' 4' and sporting snow-white skin, blonde hair, and a blue eye, if not for the official family tree he has on record nobody would even believe he had Japanese heritage. His body is rather bulky and muscular, with wide shoulders and a near imposing presence which is only supported by his permanent resting scowl. His features are sharp and jagged, Blonde hair unruly and clinging to his head in clumps.
PERSONALITY
LIKES CoffeeMusic Heroism Dogs | DISLIKES HumorSarcasm Egos Cats |
RUMOR/SECRET: | That Hero 'Nemesis' used to be a Villain |
A stoic individual, Deacon often appears to be a standoffish and rude person. While this has a grain of truth to it, he is typically highly respectful and calm during most interactions with people, even those who attract his personal ire. Though he dislikes most jokes and 'wit', it is more likely to cause him to silently disapprove or raise an eyebrow rather than confront it with vitriol.
He takes his job as a Hero (and newly minted teacher) very, very seriously - and although he doesn't particularly care what students get up to (within reason), disrupting class or being a general bother is a surefire way for him to display actual irritation or impatience.
His personal 'way' of Heroism is standing as a bastion of strength rather than a symbol of hope, reassuring the masses through his calm attitude and unwavering determination over actively being cheery or reassuring them.

BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH: | Copenhagen, Denmark |
PARENTS: | Deceased |

To most, the story of Deacon's life is one that was destined to create the ultimate Villain - and indeed, perhaps his appearance, outfit, and even Hero name all reflect this outcome that never came to pass. Through trials, hardships, and crushing defeat he has persevered - shunning the call of evil and freedom in exchange for the life of a Hero.
Born as an unwanted child in a grimy apartment to a pair of drug-addicted teenagers, Deacon's early life could best be described as horrid. He was an accident, and since he was born outside of a hospital, he officially didn't exist. His parents more often than not referred to him as their 'Secret Bastard' in full earshot of the boy. It was only out of fear of Heroes that Deacon was kept alive and mostly healthy, though happiness was something he wouldn't get to experience for a long time.
Periods of hunger and neglect started when he was as young as he could remember, and by age five the treatment worsened to 'physical discipline'. The emergence of his Quirk only gave the pair justification on why their overzealous methods were 'perfectly fine'. Age seven was the first real taste Deacon got of the real world, of course under a threat to not speak of what was occurring at home. A young and frightened boy had no choice to comply with these demands. Most marks or scars were kept hidden under clothing, and others faded or vanished completely thanks to his Quirk.
He was homeschooled, partially to keep him out of the public for as long as possible. 'Homeschooling', however, is a generous term for what he was actually taught. Much of Deacon's education was self-implored through the medium of books or the internet, and what little precious time he was afforded at a public library. Talent was clearly present, though it was never acknowledged or expanded upon by his 'family'. Age twelve was when a Villain broke into their dingy abode, killing both his parents and severely wounding him - the boy only surviving due to his Quirk's built up resistance from abuse, at the cost of permanently losing his right eye.
It was awkward, to say the least when the police responded to a young boy's call only to discover the crime scene - and a child who existence hadn't even been known for over a decade. Deacon didn't even go by 'Deacon' until the name was granted to him later on during the legal process of citizenship - having known simply 'boy' or 'child' from his mother and father. His only living family, a grandmother, was contacted regarding custody. She, bewildered a grandchild existed, still eagerly accepted... with the caveat that he would have to come to Japan, as she couldn't afford to leave her job. Deacon was asked if he was okay with leaving his home country, which was met with a shrug.
In Japan, his grandmother made sure to treat him with all the love, affection, and freedoms he'd been denied before. It was overwhelming, Deacon used to have to ask to even use the bathroom before. It was also his first real exposure to Heroes and their role in society, and despite not developing an outward affection for them like most children his age - he admired them and what they stood for to a great degree. It was at the cusp of middle school that he decided that he would become a Hero. To serve the world and help prevent tragedies like his own from ever occurring.
From there, the rest is history... though he wasn't exactly a prodigal student. He didn't attend U.A. or Shiketsu, but rather Ketsubutsu on a modest scholarship. He wasn't the strongest, fastest, or smartest there either, but made up for it with pure determination and grit. He graduated top 10 in his class in the end, and started a decent career as a Pro Hero. It was only through years of hard work that his skills and training efforts were recognized. Short of a suitable instructor due to the rigorous selection process, U.A. High School offered him a position to teach Third Year Homeroom as a replacement for the 'temporary' teacher that had been there for months.
Though he didn't necessarily want to take time away from his Heroic activities, a chance to help guide and shape more aspiring Heroes to bastions of justice was one he couldn't pass up.

THE ARMORY
Combat Baton: A polyester extending baton reinforced with metallic studs. A solid weapon that doesn't need training to be effective, and is easily non-lethal when wielded properly.
Hero Suit: A lightweight ceramic alloy that composes his iconic 'black armor' appearance. Provides only basic protection against the elements and weak punches, due to the nature of his Quirk, and is therefore kept extremely mobile.

QUIRK & SKILLS
RETRIBUTION
TYPE: Mutation
RANK/LEVEL: A-
SUMMARY: Retribution works as a twofold Quirk - categorized as 'Evolution' and 'Retroaction' to divide the passive and active part of its' power. The main purpose of it is granting its' wielder immense durability and middling to moderate regeneration.
Evolution: Deacon's body, over a long period of time, can 'learn' from deep physical trauma and pain. This can and has increased his durability to most physical attacks over the years. The process of 'evolving' to become tougher over time takes several extreme bouts of damage to his body, and a full recovery from it. This is his 'base' power, which 'retroaction' builds upon.
Durability: After years of damage, Deacon's body has evolved to the point where he is near immune to most attacks that would be dangerous to a normal person. A regular punch against him would be like ramming ones' fist into a steel one, doing more damage to the attacker than the target. Small arms gunfire and its' equivalent can cause blunt pain and heavy bruising, and potentially dangerous damage if hit in the groin or eyes. Large caliber guns can penetrate the skin and cause bleeding, and repeated hits to the same general area can cause further wounding. Quirk enhanced attacks fair much better, as they tend to match or exceed potential firearms damage.
Regeneration: Hardly able to be called 'regeneration', even after having evolved to the point it is at, Deacon's Evolution regeneration is mostly useful when out of combat in helping mending small injuries. It can close small cuts and heal most bruises in around a day and heal shallow wounds in about a week. Any attacks that cause major damage are completely unaffected by this.
Retroaction: A branch of his power to 'evolve' over time, Retroaction is a temporary but more instant boost to Deacon, providing him with even further increased damage resistance, pain mitigation, and slight regeneration. This, of course, has a cap relative to his base 'evolved' part of his Quirk, and isn't permanent. The effects of Retroaction will wear off when not constantly taking damage. This part of the Quirk scales into three 'Tiers', with the third being the cap relative to his base form. Retroaction will not activate if the attack did not harm Deacon.
Durability -
[T1]: Activates upon the first hit Deacon receives that deals actual damage to him. Increases his toughness to need several hits from larger caliber firearms or their equivalents to penetrate the skin.
[T2]: Activates upon a second hit on a consecutive post from the first instance of damage. Increases his toughness to where only .44 or above caliber weapons (or their power equivalents) can pierce his skin.
[T3]: Activates upon a third consecutive instance of damage in a row. Standard weaponry will no longer have enough power to seriously injure him, and even offensive Quirks may start seeing some difficulty.
Regeneration -
[T1]: Activates upon the first hit Deacon receives that deals actual damage to him. Allows for the accelerated healing of small cuts and bruises, which are restored in two posts.
[T2]: Activates upon a second hit on a consecutive post from the first instance of damage. Moderate cuts, blunt trauma, and similar damage is healed within two posts.
[T3]: Activates upon a third consecutive instance of damage in a row. Fractured bone, deep cuts, and higher caliber gunshot wounds are fixed in two posts.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS: One immediate, glaring weakness of Retribution is that it only protects against 'physical' attacks. Quirks or gadgets that utilize energy or elements on the offensive will bypass his protection entirely.
Retroaction is active for the post after Deacon receives damage and for one more after that, totaling two posts of active time. If after two posts have passed without him taking notable damage, Retroaction's effects will end and this part of his Quirk CANNOT be activated again for two posts afterward. In order to stay active, Deacon must constantly be sustaining actual damage - which also gets harder as he gets 'tankier'.
The Regeneration on Retroaction is fixed in terms of what kind of damage it can heal. Energy or elemental wounds, or injuries that are higher caliber than what he can heal are not affected whatsoever by it.
The durability Retribution grants doesn't also mitigate pain received, and its' fully possible for Deacon to be hindered by or outright stopped by the sheer pain despite his body being able to continue under extreme circumstances.
Retroaction will not activate if it was Deacon himself who caused the damage directly or indirectly. This means neither hitting himself nor jumping off a building voluntarily would activate it.

PAIN TOLERANCE
RANK/LEVEL: ASUMMARY: A person's ability not to remove pain, but rather persevere and focus despite it affecting them. Deacon has built this up over time, and although he feels any attack that harms him as a normal person would, he is capable of concentrating on the task at hand and pushing the burning sensation to the side. He can easily disregard up to a broken bone worth of trauma, though multi-bone fractures or direct nerve damage is a different story.
STRENGTH
RANK/LEVEL: B+SUMMARY: Deacon's body is meticulously well maintained with a workout routine, and with constant vigilance he has built his natural body strength beyond the average bodybuilder. It doesn't hold a candle to Quirks that boost strength, but against the average person he is much, much stronger than them. He can lift 650lbs for a deadlift, Squat for around 625lbs and benchpress 400lbs.
COMBAT
RANK/LEVEL: BSUMMARY: A mixed style of fighting combining many different disciplines of martial arts and other practical styles such as Krav Maga, Deacon is no master, but he is capable of holding his own against most trained combatants.
