SO IF THEY STRIKE YOU DOWN JUST GET RIGHT BACK UP 313 Words | horrible thread naming
Ahhh... There's nothing like waking up on the weekends, getting a good stretch in, and working out. It was her meditation and her quiet; surely nothing could top such simple joy. Yet there was one competitor... A dark horse, if you will. That sweet rush to stir her heart and churn her stomach. A wild yet reliable partner, always there for her to fall back on. It could only be one thing: adrenaline! Today would deal her this much needed supplement-- a trip to an amusement park in Tokyo, with good buds from class! With haste did the peculiar girl shower and dress, opting for a sporty yet casual look. Upon arriving at the park bright and early, Kohaku promptly alerted the group chat that she arrived and decided to wait somewhere in the sun. It was a cool fall day, but it was sunny and still somewhat crowded. Hopefully she'd be easy enough to spot; it was hard to miss such a colorful girl. While waiting and keeping an eye on her phone, she began to subconsciously stretch and bounce around on her feet, likely entertaining herself with the way her sneaker soles felt. To any onlookers, she would seem to be buzzing with energy. Well, she usually was buzzing with energy, but today it plagued her more than ever. After all, she had only visited such parks a couple of times before, and only ever with her family. Today she'd have a blast with all her friends, and truly induct little Isaac into their class. By the stars, she couldn't wait at all! Upon the eventual arrival of her fellows or spotting of those who were already at the park, Kohaku would wave her hands sporadically and grin as wide as she could. For their sakes, one can only hope that they'll be able to keep up with her today.

*Honk* *Honk* *Honk, Honk*
"Hey, either drive like you know how or get out of the way slowpoke! My grandmother drives faster you and she's in a wheelchair!" Belted Kyo as he stuck his head back in into the window of his freshly looking black buick SUV. Anxious that he was going to be late meeting the other selected third years for a weekend of fun and debauchery in honor of their new 3-A classmate Isaac. The annoyed oranged haired third let out a low growl. "This is why I don't drive, I can get anywhere faster on foot and I get to avoid idiots like this guy. But sadly I needed the cargo room, damn it!" Narrowing his eye Kyo quickly began to scope out the car in front of him as he waited for an opening, he wasn't overly sure one would present itself but he figured if one did he'd make sure he was ready for it. Then out of nowhere, like an answer to his prayers the slow middle age driver turned right on to a exit, excited by this sudden change of events Kyo then slammed on the gas pedal and took off speeding down the highway. "Whooo!!!" yelled the third year as he floored it down the road. With the wind in his hair Kyo quickly flips on the radio and much to his enjoyment Superstar by Saliva was on. With a devious grin stretching across his face the enthusiastic third year turned the volume all the way up as he continued to floor it. The euphoric feeling Kyo was feeling in this moment was indescribable, as he sang along with the song the speedster would weave around cars enjoying the thrill he was getting in this moment.
After taking his exit it wasn't very much longer before Kyo was finally pulling up into the park's parking lot. At this point he was blaring Gasolina by Daddy Yankee and as he drove around looking for a parking spot his phone would suddenly ping with an alert from Kohaku letting everyone know that she was already at the park. Finally finding a parking spot the third year speedster quickly pulled into it as it was a premo spot. Now parked but still jamming to Gasolina, Kyo sends his own message on the group chat. Upon letting everyone know that he too had arrived and had some good news to share with everyone, Kyo turned off his car and began exiting it. As Kyo got out of the car he'd grab his white shades and set them on his head. All in all Kyo looked really good for a just a day at the water park, for the third year was dawning a black and white knee length swim truck, along with a black wife beater tank top which showed off his toned stature and black jordan flip flops. The walk from the parking lot to the park wasn't bad, and almost immediately upon entering Kyo would spot Kohaku. Seeing her Kyo then began to make his way over to the fellow third year, "Sup Ko, how's it hanging? You the first here or what?"

It’d originally been a stealthy sneak and retrieve mission, search the first years open kitchen for milk or creamer or anything to pour an obscene amount into their cup coffee to make it less tar like. Jon wasn’t sure how long the pot had been sitting, already clicked off and cold. Could have been a few hours or a month, they didn’t exactly spend a lot of time speculating how old the actual coffee was before taking a sip. It was an eerie black color and tasted what sad dreams are made of, so it was perfect to start their day to. Now if only they could find something to make it a little more palatable. Eventually the third years would get their act together and make a proper grocery list to grab items, but until then, it was a large sack of rice, enough ramen to choke on and like half a container of salt that had congealed into a large lump. None suitable additions for coffee. Unless you were a coward.
So when Jon shut the refrigerator door, magnets clacking holding up take out menus, lost and found coursework assignments and a proper, work in progress grocery list, they eyed the few students lingering over the weekend. Shoving the sleeve of their neon, green hoodie up, Jon stirred their coffee sludge and lamented these poor fools who were spending their time wasting away when they could be doing something fun and not school related. Taking a sip, the third year made a sour face before debating it wasn’t that bad and chugged the rest to their own mental mantra. What didn’t kill them, made them stronger.
Their pant’s pocket buzzed and chirped a cheery little melody, signifying a new text message in the group chat. It’d been a steady stream since yesterday as plans were suggested and made. The one usually late to the party, Jon had taken it upon themselves to actually be ready at a decent hour, and then still be mildly late. In their defense, they made sure they didn’t actually forget their littlest avenger in the team of other smaller and one tall avenger. Waiting on Isaac took precedence, second to finding something other than rice for their coffee. Setting the empty cup on the counter, they fished out their phone from their black harem pants and quickly read through the messages, before adding theirs.
omw. waiting on mr roboto. maybe grabbing sum xtra fun fun 2 add 2 the menagerie.
“Oi,” Jon called loudly, voice easily filling the open room and catching the attention of anyone who dared look. “Who wants to go on a day trip to Tokyo?” Looking through the heavy sway of green dreadlocks, they caught sight of an adorable blonde cutie and grinned suddenly. Pocketing their phone after leaving a quick text to Isaac they were down with the first years, Jon tucked a lock over their ear, ignoring when it swung back.
“Hey, you with the face.” Directing their vague greeting toward him, they wandered toward the teen with all the subtle certitude of a predator stalking their prey and with practiced eased, swept a hand under their thigh to help drop a bright green sneaker atop of the coffee table tucked in the middle of a couple of couches and chairs. Jon leaned forward, resting an elbow on their knee joint and eyed the blonde guy. “You look like you got nothing going on in this sad desolate graveyard of education.” The teen shifted their balance and a flash of silver of their prosthetic’s pylon peeked between the gap of their pant leg and sneaker.
“What’s your name?” They asked, not bothering to actually wait for a proper answer and rested their chin on a propped arm. “Cool, cool, wanna come hang out with the cool kids in Tokyo? We’re doing all things debased and debauchery and other D related things to wittle away our mortal coil until Monday classes.” Jon took a much needed breath and grinned sharply. “Anyways, we’re leaving now. Gotta make it to the station.”
Dropping their foot on the table, the teen grabbed a handful of a sleeve and tugged, intending to drag the kid with no room to argue. “Names Jonny, by the way. You got money on ya? Cause we are about to reckless blow all of it on useless junk and street food.”
“Ever been to the amusement park in Tokyo? The one by the, uh, whats-it-called piers? That one. You’ll love it.”

Jun had gotten dressed and was about to head out to Tokyo to visit his brother when he heard someone that he knew only by reputation come in. Jun pointed at himself awkwardly when the smol bean of a third year known only as Jon grinned at him, even speaking out towards him. The guy was perfectly relaxed at their couch set, and asked for the blond's name. "Jun Tomoshibi." Then the guy asked him if he would like to go to Tokyo. Nodding, he was practically dragged out by the sleeve, very amused by Jon, who introduced himself as Jonny. "I figured that was you...more by reputation than anything. Afraid not...I've only gone to Tokyo to visit my brother. I was heading there today anyways. So yes, I have money with me." This day was going to be interesting, that's for sure. From what he's heard, anything to do with Jon usually meant an interesting time. Hopefully it wasn't just him, though. Jun wasn't sure if he could handle the entirety of the boy's antics. He took out his own cell phone and texted his brother, telling him of the new circumstances. He could practically hear his twin's laughter as he texted back that he'd meet them at that amusement park after his physical therapy. While the nerves leading down to the legs were seriously damaged, the doctors didn't think it was unrepairable or anything like that...that he'd eventually be able to walk again. Jun remembered what he real briefly saw on Jon's leg...the one was a prosthetic. If worse comes to worse, surely something similar was possible for his beloved twin. "So who else is joining us on this fun charade of debauchery? I'm assuming it's not just going to be us."

Isaac raised his hand in front of him and swiped the wall of data aside, briefly watching the text flow into a more organized cluster before moving his attention to the next mass that rose up to take its place. "Just a little more..." He thought to himself as he stood in the dark space, countless clusters of information like the one he'd just sorted filling the room around him. Well, it wasn't actually a room, and he wasn't really standing, that's just how his brain made sense of things on the inside of a computer. It was different when he was in one of his robots, where there were cameras to see out of and joints to move; those behaved at least somewhat similar to his normal body. But in the void of utter sensory deprivation that was a harddrive, it was completely up to his brain to form his 'surroundings'. If he really wanted to, he could make it look like anything. Instead of standing in a room with walls of text, he could be in a library arranging books, or even laying out seashells on a beach. Most people would probably prefer something along those lines, but Isaac had gotten so used to his quirk over the years that it didn't usually make a difference to him. Data was data, and working with the raw structures was the most natural thing in the world to him.
As the boy continued to sort through the mess of information, a sharp chime pierced through his concentration. A notification. With an absent-minded flick of his wrist, a small window popped open to his side, revealing the familiar sight of the school chat client. Looked like a message from... Ah yes, Jon. While he motioned to open up the text, a small blue form darted out from between the data clusters and spiraled around him, a luminous creature that resembled something halfway between a cat and a fox. Nadya chirped cheerfully as she came to rest on his shoulder and gazed at the new window with curiosity. After the first encounter with Isamu in the lab, he'd let the AI choose it's own appearance. He still didn't know exactly why, but it seemed to have taken a liking to the cat's form...
"черт, already this late?"
Isaac mumbled as he looked over the messages from his fellow student. Despite basically having a clock built into his senses, the odd way that time seemed to flow while he was inside a machine made it very difficult to tell how long he'd been there. Completely losing track of the day was a normal occurrence if no one disturbed him. But today wasn't a day for that. The boy had only just recently had his official transfer into the hero course, and his new classmates had insisted on doing something to celebrate. Though, they hadn't actually told him what that something was, only what time to meet up. Double checking the clock he cursed again and started hurriedly throwing what was left of the data structures into less than organized clumps.
A few minutes later, Isaac appeared in front of his computer desk with a crackle of electricity, taking a brief second to fight off the usual disorientation before rushing to get ready. The white haired boy hastily threw on a pair of cargo shorts and a black sleeveless vest, then added a hoodie that was slightly too big for his frame, long baggy sleeves hanging loosely over his hands. His overly pale skin didn't tend to do well in the sunlight, and since he at least knew they'd be outside today, it seemed like a prudent precaution.
Now dressed, he tossed a few more provisions into a bag, then turned to his computer one last time. With a few clicks he finished the file transfer that was in progress and then reached for the object that was sitting beside his tower. It was a small mechanical frame, about a foot and a half tall and quadrupedal, almost feline in appearance. In fact, it was as close an approximation to Nadya's digital form as he could manage, and when he reached to unplug it from the computer, blue eyes flicked on. Almost immediately he was greeted with a familiar chirping noise and the creature cycled through all of its joints, experimenting briefly before starting to chitter excitedly. Isaac regarded the machine with a soft smile as it looked up at him, a bit of pride in his chest at the results of his work. "Come Nadya, we're going to be late." He said as he slung his bag on his back and Nadya chirped again in response, darting up his arm to perch on his shoulder.
Following the instructions from Jon's message, Isaac pulled his hood up to block the sun and made his way over to the first year dorms. Once there, it didn't take long to pick out the green-haired tornado that was his fellow third year. They had a tendency to stick out, despite their vertically challenged nature, not that the young Russian boy could say much on that subject. As he approached Jon, Isaac gave a wave to grab his attention. "Good Morning Jonnny, My apologies for the wait. We are heading to station now, da?" He said, seemingly ignorant of the fact that his classmate was in the process of dragging away one of the first years. The metallic creature on his shoulder however, watched the exchange with great interest.

"Hey! What's up dude?" Greeted Ko as she bounced up to Kyo. She was happy that people were beginning to show up, but she was actually surprised that Kyo was the first to arrive. Nevertheless, the day was finally starting!
"Nobody else is here yet, but I'm sure they won't be long!" She said reassuringly, glancing in the direction of the parking lot. "So, you ready for today?" Asked the goblin girl, just trying to make some small talk while they waited. Kohaku knew that she was going to be dragging them on as many roller coasters as she could. Theme parks were so much fun with friends, right? She was probably right. And, of course, there would be food, gift shops, and shows too! Ko had actually saved some spending money for this trip, as she planned to treat herself today! She also planned to buy her sister something, if possible. They weren't super close though, so she wondered what a 13 year old might like. Ko would probably buy her a shirt or something with the park's mascot on it, as it was simple enough. But today's focus was Isaac, and Kohaku was determined to make it a great day for him!

Following Ko's question Kyo would let out a devious chuckle as he couldn't wait for the day to progress. "Oh I'm ready for today, I even managed to snag us some libations. If you catch my drift." replied Kyo as he give his fellow third year a sly wink. Kyo wasn't normally one for hanging with fellow UA students outside of school but luckily the rag tag bunch he was going to be with was the few people he actually didn't hate being around. Mainly because everyone in the group had their own faults which somehow made this mad men bunch fun to be around. And now they were going to induct Isaac into the group the only way they knew how. With a day of debauchery, fun, hangovers, and questionable behaviors. As he glanced over at the perking lot, Kyo couldn't help but worry about what could have been taking the other's so long. "I wonder what's taking them? If I had to guess my money's on Jon. I knew it wasn't the best idea leaving them in charge of transport for the guest of honor. Here's to hoping they haven't gone and done something to crazy." After he was done expressing his concerns Kyo instinctually went into a stretch yawn combo before then heading over to the concession stand. "I'm going to grab a soda."

“Cute name for a cutie,” Jon remarked cheerfully, letting go as soon as it seemed Jun was going to foolishly follow them. They dug into their pant’s pocket again and pulled out a thin cardboard box and shook it, hearing a satisfying rattle. Popping it open, they held it out to their new companion, offering up a scattering of silver wrapped rectangles. “Gum? It’s mostly mint flavored. The rest might be mango.” They grabbed a piece for themselves, shoving both box and wrapper back into their pocket. The coffee had been successfully drunk but it left a gross, bitter aftertaste and they were sure if they breathed on anyone, it’d turn a few eyebrows white.
Jon turned a dazzling grin back at Jun. “Rep, eh?” and had the gal to sound surprised and chuckled sheepishly. “Sounds like the trickle down effect has finally kicked in. Whatever anyone has told it, it’s like ten times worse.” Chomping on their gum, they tried for a bubble way too early and only succeeded in nearly spitting it out. “Oh yeah? Then this’ll be a treat for all. Your broski can come too if he wants. The more the merrier and blame to share.”
“Who said charade?” Taking a several steps forward quickly, they rounded to face the taller teenager, tipping their head up to met his gaze with a cheeky raise of their brows. “Gotta say, green’s my fave color and you’ve got the prettiest eyes I’ve ever seen.” Jon reached a hand up, the garishly green sleeve of their hoodie just covering it as they poked a single finger just above the first year’s sternum. They gently poked again, tapping a few more times in hopes he’d look down. If he did, they’d flick the finger up to catch his nose. And if he didn’t, then they’d only inwardly lament on the loss of the childish prank.
With a quick chuckle, Jon looked around Jun. “A couple of us are going; She Hulk, Quicksilver and Vision. Speaking of which.”
“No worries, broseph.” They answered the friendly wave with throwing an arm around the unoccupied shoulder of their fellow third year, still enjoying the fact Isaac was short enough to do so. “You’re right on time. Who’s your little friend?” Jon made a low, whispering sound, harken to a simple call one would draw in a cat and held out a hand for the metallic creature to sniff. There was a weak impulse to pet it, but the inner voice they occasionally listened to said not to touch wild animal. And they weren’t sure if robots counted?
They snapped their head up as if remembering. “Oh! Yeah, I’m bringing a friend. Isaac, this is Jun. Jun, Isaac. We’re committing various crimes today for our main man’s indoctrination into 3-A. I voted ritual sacrifice, but was vetoed out. Spoil sports. So, next option was the amusement park, it just edged out larceny and duct tapping Izzy to a wall.” Joking and the truth were often hard to discern when Jon rambled and they were keen to never quite divulge which was which.
“Yeah, we are so heading to the station now before we miss it. I can feel Kyo’s annoyance through the force.” Jon took lead, linking their other arm around Jun’s to ensure he didn’t escape as they led them back outside. “I mean not really, because if I could actually feel anyone’s annoyance, how would I get anything done. But it’s Kyo. When he is not annoyed with anything?”
“I asked Phoenix Force if he wanted to come, but he’d rather make googly eyes at...” Jon paused, as if their brain was catching up to their mouth. “...a wall. And look, who am I to challenge a good wall staring contest. So Kazzy is out, but he definitely sends his regards and not me just saying he is. I’ll bring him back like a half melted popsicle or a keychain.”

Jun shook his head at the offer of gum. Though his ears started to turn red at being called a cutie. Hopeless romantic or not, a compliment like that, no matter who it was from, was going to make him react in such a way. He giggled at the mention of their antics being ten times worse than what he'd heard...which was hard to believe, but yet seemed pretty plausible. The blond took out his phone and texted his brother on his change in plans. Hopefully the hospital staff wouldn't mind too much. After, some fresh air might be good for him, along with more social interaction beyond nurses and family.
At the mention of his eye color, Jun's face exploded red. "They have some unique traits...they will change to blue if I'm too stressed out, or shade depending on my mood..." Right now, they were a bright shade of green, signifying his good mood. He followed the finger, and got flick...a childish prank that made him wrinkle his nose. The blond had no idea who the people referred to at all...so he was still every bit confused on who was going along this little trip.
Then came the one of the shortest people he'd seen at UA. What was up with UA and really short people and really tall people? Jun was average height here! Instead of short! The odd accent told him foreigner, and that was confirmed by the name. And clearly a techy guy if the robot cat was any indication. Jun gave a bright smile and waved. Again, he was left wondering who was who. Though the name Kyo was familiar to him for some reason that he couldn't quite figure out yet. Still, he couldn't help but wonder if Jonny was joking or was serious...the blond hoped he was joking. Either way, unless spoken to, he would simply follow the two to the station and off to meet their comrades.

Isaac chuckled as Jon returned his greeting and pulled him in close. The interaction wasn't one he was used to, it was rare enough to find someone even remotely close to his stunted height, and nigh unheard of that they'd be a good four years older than him. Beyond that, nearly all the people he'd met in the hero course had been so incredibly friendly, completely unlike the detached focus of his peers in the support program. He'd never had too much trouble getting along with others, but this group of misfits seemed to have a particular warmth to them; a fact that had influenced his decision to pursue the transfer quite heavily.
"Ah, allow me to introduce you. This is Nadya." Isaac leaned his head back so that Jon could get a better look at the mechanical feline. The construct cocked its head curiously and stared at them as they offered their hand. Being unable to smell, it instead slowly reached out a paw and pushed on the hand experimentally. "How to explain... Was supposed to be AI assistant for testing equipment for support term project, but accidentally made assistant that could actually learn instead of just adapt. So, assistant became project." As the boy gave his explanation, Nadya jumped onto Jon's arm and quickly darted across their shoulders before completing the circuit and returning to her perch. "Curious little thing, wanted to come along."
Isaac turned his attention toward the other student as Jon introduced them, violet eyes scanning over the boy as though regarding him for the first time. "Is fine I think. How do you say... More is merrier, da?" He extended a hand to greet the blonde, making sure that his sleeve was rolled up enough to not completely cover it. "Pleasure to be meeting you, Jun." He'd often considered socializing more with the first years, being much closer in age than his actual classmates, but had always busied himself too much with his work to ever act on the thought. Well, being so busy with his work is what had gotten him to where he was now, so maybe it was a fair trade in the end, and now he could actually pursue the opportunity.
As Jon rambled about the untouched possibilities of the day, they let slip their ultimate destination and Isaac's ears perked up. As uncontrollable as their group tended to be, crime didn't seem to be a likely celebratory activity for a group of hero students, so that left duct tape and a trip to the amusement park. The white haired boy sincerely hoped it was the latter, he'd never actually had a chance to visit a park before and the thought of going with his new friends brought a smile to his face.
"Da, should get moving then. Shame that Kazume won't be joining us though, will have to make sure to bring him something back." He said, nodding to himself as he fell into step with the other two and headed for the station.

Upon Kyo's insinuation of later antics that surely weren't as wholesome as a day at a theme park, Kohaku couldn't help but grin toothily. She replied with an overly-conspicuous wink and thumbs up. When it came to welcoming a new classmate, no method gave away 3A's true nature quite like morally-grey troublemaking. Ko doubted the day could get any better!
The brightly-colored lass noticed as Kyo's attention drifted towards the parking lot, and hers followed. Of course, it wasn't uncommon for their classmates to be late to most events, but she, too, couldn't help but worry.
"Hmm yeah... Don't worry too much, though. Jon is reliable." Kohaku assured him with a sneer and a wink that was thankfully less obnoxious this time. Though she wouldn't describe Jon as the most responsible individual, she had no doubt they would make it in O-K time. She followed Kyo to the snack stand subconsciously, but didn't buy anything. Instead she just kept an eye out for the rest of their crew. The anticipation was practically killing her-- she was so ready to get the day started, and to get to know Isaac more! Speaking of Isaac, Kohaku realized that she might be able to ask him about what she could buy her sister. He was around her age, right? Though he did seem pretty mature... Oh well, there'd be no harm in trying!

Jun was adorable and honestly, he had no right to be that cute but Jon reveled in each and every reaction they pulled from him. They hummed thoughtfully, cocking their head curiously and their dreadlocks swayed heavily under the curious tilt. “Change color, huh? You’re like a fanfiction dream come true, home slice. You’ll have to show me the rest.” The teen scooted a fraction closer, “I’d love to see what fluster brings out.” They winked and backed up, giving the guy ample room.
“Mine kinda do a thing too, but it’s related to my Quirk.” Jon tugged on the bottom lid of theirs and childishly stuck their tongue out. “When it’s activated, they turn kinda silvery. At least that’s what everyone tells me, I don’t really notice anything different.” It was an unfortunate telltale sign of their Quirk working and there’d been no way to work around it. It served no purpose other than annoyance.
Jon’s breakneck attention span shifted from one to the other, swiveling on their heel to the creature Isaac called Nadya. They couldn’t contain the quiet gasp that slipped from them when the robot skittered across them. “Oooo,” they said, awed and nearly sparkly eyed. “That’s way too cool, dude. Like sensorimotor or more like reinforcement learning? No, you said learn instead of adapt?”
Jon wiggled their fingers back at the bot again, taking on a softer tone someone would use praising a child. “I bet you’ve got a cluster analysis algorithm, don’t ya?” They sighed wistfully, “My old man dabbled in robotics when I was a little sprog. Never did get to this finite point, but he did have some old units that helped around the shop.” Finally tearing their eyes away from the robot, Jon rounded back on their company with a shrug. “Mostly did grunt work, easier than lifting a quad turbocharge engine yourself. Some hero wanted to soup up his Bugatti, I don’t really remember. I was like six.”
Introductions made, future friendships started, more gum offered to their resident newbie, Jon lead the group onward. “I’m sure I could probably harass Kaz again, but last time he blocked me for like a whole week. Rude.” They scoffed. “But he can’t block the school chat if I ping him in it. Maybe Mika too.” Both, if they caught them at the same time. “But, that’s all wishful thinking, things have been picking up at Titan.”
The trip over to Tokyo was on time, as per usual, the subway ran like a flawless beast and the third year easily and eagerly filled the trip with mindless chatter, flittering through an array of subjects from class assignments to the latest video game that caught their fancy. Jon sent one last quick text to let the others know they were leaving the station and would be at the amusement park shortly. They could already hear the faint sounds.
“All right, so, Ko said they’d be waiting for us near the entrance. Possibly around the concession stands. Look for a shorter, red She Hulk with amazing hair.” Pocketing their phone, they slipped close to Jun. “We’re counting on your height, cornstalk.
