PERSONALITY
LIKES Reading detective novelsAnimals Poetry Hanging out with her friends | DISLIKES SpidersCrowds Being hugged from behind Public speaking of any kind |
RUMOR/SECRET: | That her father is in fact a wanted villain who recently managed to escape from prison. Airin has not confirmed nor perhaps more tellingly denied it. |
Intelligent. kind and passionate are the words which probably her friends might use to describe Airin Bekka. Whilst never the most popular individual in the world, she is never the less a person who is difficult to dislike. She has this charming nature about her, one where she is willing to help anybody, especially her friends if they happened to find themselves in trouble.
Whilst not the born leader within her friendship group, Airin is good at coming up with creative solutions to problems. Unfortunately her dislike of speaking up often leaves these plans unsaid. Perhaps more tragically however is the fact that she tends to come up with overly complex solutions to problems which possess much easier ways of solving them.
Airin has a strong sense of values, these march in step to what she believes happens to be right. She cares very deeply about people, putting a lot of energy into aiding others. She takes training to become a hero very seriously. Airin often likes to come up with intelligent and creative ways to keep her friends happy, though whether they happen to enjoy the board games she suggests is another matter entirely.
Despite everything, Airin actually worries a lot whilst at hero school. Primarily about failing or otherwise doing something which might get her kicked out of it. As such, she is a challenging person to convince to break the rules. She also worries about her mother, though whether this comes from herself not wanting to disappoint her mom or if it is about the rumours at school, Airin tends to keep to herself.
Perhaps paradoxically, especially how she is quick to help others, she struggles to actually ask others for aid or support, preferring to deal with the problem alone. While at first this can be mistaken as an act of pride on her part, it is in truth nothing to do with pride at all, rather she lacks the confidence to ask others for their support/help in matters.
Airin despite growing up in a small city apartment has always been a country girl at heart. Some of her most cherished memories are that or just her and her mom in a small cabin by a lake. She is not a fan of crowds or crowded places, finding them difficult to navigate in part due to her lack of height and a dash of claustrophobia.
Airin tends to always be found reading or at the very least with a book in hand and several more in her bag. At school if one cannot find her then the best place to search would be the library as she has probably lost track of the time reading.
Her biggest pet peeve is when people don't use bookmarks and instead fold down a corner of one of the pages instead to mark where they were.
She has the annoying habit of humming when stressed and or feeling anxious. While this can be entertaining for some, especially if one happens to like the song in particular this can be extremely frustrating and or annoying for others. Humming is not her only musical talent, Airin is in truth a truly incredibly singer, having undertaken singing lessons since the age of four. It is a secret few people know of since Airin lacks the confidence to sing in public.
One of her most favourite hobbies is fencing and if one lets her get started on it she can and will bore people to sleep with it.
BACKGROUND HISTORY
PLACE OF BIRTH/HOMETOWN: | Musutafu, Japan |
PARENTS: | Benjiro Bekka (father) Chiyo Bekka (mother) |
SIBLINGS: | NA |
SIGNIFICANT OTHER: | NA |
OTHER: | NA |
Airin Bekka was born to proud parents Benjiro and Chiyo Bekka whilst on the way to the hospital for a check up on the then pregnant Chiyo. She was their only child, though she does not know if her parents had intended to have more in the future, because shortly after her birth her father was arrested, allegedly for a series of armed bank robberies. As such it happened to be her mother which raised Airin, Chiyo was quirkless, but anxiously awaited the day to discover if her own child possessed one.
The day eventually came when Airin displayed her Quirk, though she was one of the last in the class to do so, her mother beginning to worry that perhaps she would be quirkless.
Though Airin grew up without her father, she has seen him a couple of times during visiting hours but most of what she knew about him came from her mother. Her mom never commented on whether or not she personally believes him to be innocent. Her daughter however, Airin does despite all the evidence. Though she often admits this belief could be illogical and her own emotional bias is blocking her from seeing the evidence clearly.
Airin had only a few close friends growing up, generally preferring to be reading or as was the case a lot of the time occupied by her singing lessons and fencing lessons. Before she went to UA most of her free time outside of school was spent either at home reading/doing school work or at one of the two mentioned after school lessons she took part in.
She and her mom, though never overly wealthy often went on holiday to a little rented cabin by a lake during the spring and summer months. Airin loved coming there, to be amongst nature, to be away from the cities and their crowds of people. The time spent there either with her mom, hanging out with other kids on holiday or exploring the forest were and are among the best memories she has.
Whilst good at school, it was not until she started at UA that she actually enjoyed going to school. Yes hero training is brutally tough, the homework challenging and the journey to school a long one... But in the end it would be without a doubt the greatest joy in the world to actually become a fully qualified hero. At UA however, Airin keeps quiet about who her father is, preferring instead to avoid that topic entirely rather than confront it. It has not stopped rumours flying around however that she is the daughter of former hero who turned villain.
She is a good student, incredibly smart with good grades and generally always has the answers. Airin does have a reputation for being late to more than a couple of her classes, this is in part due to trains being delayed or perhaps because Airin if studying has an unfortunate tendency to get caught up in her work and lose track of time.

QUIRK & SKILLS
Healing Touch
TYPE: Emitter
RANK/LEVEL: C-
SUMMARY:
Healing Touch is a Quirk that allows for the user to heal anyone that they touch with both their hands. However whilst it can be useful in regards to treating injuries, they also take out the target's pain during and after healing. Though a target may be fully healed, the quirk user is left with the pain of their wounds for at least a week. Whilst healing, the user must be completely stationary and undisturbed. If physically separated from the target, both will suffer negative repercussions, with the healing having failed on the target and their wounds return to the state before healing arrived, and the quirk user suffering the pain of those wounds.
WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS:
Perhaps the most important or crucial weakness of Healing Touch is the fact that it cannot be used on fatal/mortal wounds. The quirk simply will not work, though the user will suffer from the pain of those injuries as normal. However, if they persist in an attempt, their own mind will be assaulted by an agonising migraine, leaving the user unconscious. (lasts for the entire thread)
In addition, in order to heal in the first place the quirk user must have physical contact with the injured party, with both hands placed on the wounded individual. The quirk user must concentrate, keeping their eyes closed, their mental concentration must not be disturbed nor must they be separated physically from the individual they wish to heal. If they are separated from their target, then both parties suffer negatively from it with in the case of the target, their wounds returning to the state they were before healing started and the user will still suffer the pain of those injuries. (lasts for three posts)
The pain caused by successfully healing someone fades overtime if Airin rests between each heal. (lasts for two posts). However if she does not allow herself to rest or is denied it then the pain last much long, depending on how many people she has attempted to heal. (IE heals three players then the pain would last for eight posts). The more people she attempts to heal regardless of whether or not she is successful, the greater the agony experienced. Usually Airin will pass out from pain and exhaustion if she tries to heal too many. (More than two people healed in a thread will cause her to pass out/fall unconscious for the rest of the thread).
Airin cannot heal herself, so should she sustain damage she cannot use her own powers to heal herself. In addition if she causes harm to someone physically, whether by accident or design, then her healing powers will not work. (lasts for one thread).
Airin can only heal one person at a time, her Quirk requiring her to use both hands on the injured party in order for it to function. Minor or light wounds can usually be healed in one to two posts (depending on the size of the injury. IE a few scratches won't be as difficult to heal as a lot of scratches) Minor wounds are the easiest to treat, given their usual small size and minimal amount of penetration into the body. However major injuries can take between three to five posts in order to heal (depending on the size of the injury).

Fencer
RANK/LEVEL: Above average (C+)
SUMMARY:
Having learned to wield the Fencing Sword from a young age, Airin is relatively well skilled in the art of wielding the blade. That said, as she is young, she is not a master of the blade merely skilled. In addition she tends to fight defensively, rather than starting the attack. Whilst this may be useful at is reduces her exposure to a foe, it does give them the initiative and opportunity to analyse and exploit this defensive mindset.
In tournaments, Airin Bekka performs above average. Indeed she might actually have the skill to become good were she not wedded so completely to the idea of defense.
