Contrary to what many officers of the law may have thought from their previous encounters, Hiro didn't, in fact, enjoy stealing from random people off the street. He'd do it if he had to, as he had many times, but if circumstances allowed for it he was far more particular about his marks. After all, it was far more satisfying when he could use his thieving as a way of getting back at some haughty jerk that acted like the world, Hiro included, owed him everything on a silver platter... But even those were special occasions to be savored. More often than not he actually preferred to try to make his pocket money in a much more legitimate manner; the distribution of fine art and beauty to the masses.
Well, that's how he liked to think of it at least.
The dark skinned boy sat beside a fountain in one of Musutafu's better maintained parks, dressed in his normal tattered hoodie and a pair of carpenter pants, and with a dark blue bandanna tied around his neck. In front of him was an overturned cardboard box that acted as a sort of work desk, and to his side was a pile of soda cans and a number of plastic bowls, several of which were coated in shimmering metal on the inside. "Metal sculptures for sale" A sign behind him read, "200 Yen per piece, 500 per commission. 100 Yen off if you bring your own material." All in all, it was a rather simple setup, but it was one that worked. Not only did it allow Hiro to make some cash, but it also served as decent practice for his art and quirk alike... The fact that it let him interact with all sorts of people was a pretty nice bonus too, even if the conversations tended to be a little one-sided.
And speaking of people, the park was bloody full of them today. While on normal occasions he could expect someone to come past his little stand about once every five or ten minutes, today the stream seemed to be near constant. If what he heard was anything to go by, there was some sort of festival or outdoor concert nearby attracting crowds. That was fine by him; art was always something that he would support, and more people meant more potential business. Of course with so many people coming and going, grabbing their attention without being able to shout was a challenging endeavor for Hiro to rise to. Needless to say, it involved a whole lot of gestures, arm flailing, and enthusiasm that.... was still ultimately ignored by the majority of passerbys, but hey, at least he was keeping himself entertained. He'd already managed to get a little bit of business in the half hour or so he'd been at it, and with any luck these crowds would allow him to walk away with enough spare change to keep himself fed for a few more days. Wouldn't that be nice?
Just when Hiro's arms were starting to get tired, a shadow fell over his mark-shift stall as a figure stepped up in front of him. Standing with the sun at their back he wasn't able to make out any features at first glance, but nevertheless he turned to greet the presumed customer with a bright smile and wave.

The warm weather seemed to attract people to the outside, eager to soak up the rays of the sun or merely enjoy some time outside. To Yui, this had been an interesting opportunity, one not to be missed, dismissed or otherwise ignored. She reached the park, set herself up and played a few of her songs. Though she had not been playing for money, like a few of the street musicians did, she happened to blow the others out of the water with this brief performance. Yui's skill with an electric guitar combined with her singing voice proved to be a wonderful combination, one which was delightful to the park goers. She packed up her guitar, securing it carefully, before slowly making her way towards one of the exits. Tired from both her studies and the brief musical concert she held, she very much liked the idea of returning back to her dorm in UA High and catching up on some sleep. At least she hoped that this time she might actually manage to get some sleep. It always proved to be somewhat elusive, how other students could regularly manage to get thirteen hours a day and still be tired amazed her. She struggled to get even two hours of sleep without waking up.
The small stall set up advertising sculpture work caught her attention, he seemed to have, like her been quite busy and successful from the day's events. Maybe they had both been simply the benefitters of good luck as the nice weather made people more generous or maybe, they were simply good at what they did. Curious as to the nature of his work, she found herself approaching the stall. Now that she was no longer singing, she found herself reverting back to her natural quiet and more reserved nature. "Hi." Yui greeted quietly, her eyes roving across his stall. "Do you make any kind of sculpture?" She inquired, knowing that some sculptors preferred to make certain things or do their art a certain way. She felt certain that her father would have been able to say more on the matter. He was into sculpture, unlike Yui who knew little on the matter.

As the glare passed over his eyes, Hiro shifted slightly to the side and pulled his hood down to get a better look at the person standing before him. What he found was a girl of rather short stature with fiery hair and a guitar case slung over her shoulder. Despite the size difference he figured that she was probably somewhere around the same age as him, which was a pretty nice change of pace considering that most of the people that had approached him so far today had been definitively in the older demographic. The older someone was, the more they tended to look down on a person like him, taking him for little more than some street punk in ragged clothing. Other kids at least seemed to give him a chance most of the time, which made talking to them a far more pleasant experience. The fact that this one also happened to be pretty cute was just a bonus.
As the girl gave her reserved greeting, Hiro couldn't help but widen his grin a bit. Of course they'd start right off with a question, that meant that it was time for the game to begin. It was a game he played quite frequently and the rules were as simple as could be; try to hold a conversation as long as possible with resorting to writing. At times he could manage to finish an entire exchange, while others forced him to give in almost immediately. At the end of the day it tended depend more on the person he was talking to than his own pantomiming abilities, so he found it to be just as much a test of someone's character as a source of his own entertainment. Someone was either open minded and creative, or rigid and impatient. Which would this girl be?
For his first move, Hiro gave an amused half-shrug and mouthed the word "Sorta." He'd found that even if he couldn't actually say anything aloud, people tended to respond better if he moved his mouth anyway, regardless of whether or not they could read his lips. For some reason people were more likely to think he was just being rude if he didn't go through the extra motions. "Watch." He added as he reached for one of the bowls at his side. In this case, the girl's question was much easier to answer by showing rather than trying to explain, so he set the bowl down on his stand and then dropped a pair of empty soda cans from his stash inside before closing his eyes. With a deep breath in and out, he moved his hands to either side of the bowl and then sent out a pulse. In an instant the cans melted, filling the container up to about half way with liquid metal. From there Hiro let his mind go to work mapping out a structure while sending out tiny pulses to re-solidify portions of the metal. For about two minutes, the ripples dancing across the surface of the bowl would be the only noticeable change visible from the outside, but within the gleaming liquid something was taking shape.
When he was finally satisfied with the mental picture that his quirk returned to him, Hiro opened his eyes once again and drained the excess metal from the bowl before extracting an object from it. He gave the thing a few quick shakes to help dry it off the rest of the way and then offered it up to the girl. The chunk of metal he produced was about two and a half inches across, taking the shape of a fat, fluffy cat curled up into a ball. All in all it had actually turned out better than expected for the time he put into it. The shape itself was rather cartoonish, but there was no small amount of detail sparred, from the patterns in the big round eyes to the texture of the fur. Yes, he was content enough with the results, but had the display actually done enough to answer the girl's question? The next move was hers.

He seemed unable to speak, at least verbally. Yui felt able to sympathise with that, she could talk but more often than not found herself unable to or she said the wrong thing or things the wrong way around. She found singing to be her way to give voice to everything, a way for her to shine, to be herself. His words were easy enough to follow, though she briefly considered how difficult it must be for him to hold every day conversations with others. Especially those not used to or not caring for his ways. In that regard, Yui herself was very fortunate to have two loving parents who cared for her greatly, despite her flaws.
She watched him work, trying to guess at the nature of his Quirk, it must have something to do with the liquid metal which did not appear to be molten. It was strange and fascinating to watch in equal measure. Her own ability was not nearly as cool, she could go through solid objects. Everyone acted like it was a cool power, it was not really, though it tended to lend itself towards avoiding people. Just slip through the floor or wall and boom, safe. She accepted the cat cautiously, as if unsure whether or not he was actually offering it to her. "Oh wow..." She whispered, examining it. "This is really cool, thank you... Do..." Her cheeks flushed with colour as if she were not certain if this happened to be a gift or not. "How much do I owe you?" The question of money was not the issue, she did not want to offend him. If it was a gift then it was a nice thing to do, but if it wasn't then she was being rude by thinking it was a gift, and if it was a gift and she was going to pay then it was also rude of her.
This was why she preferred to sing, there were much fewer awkward events like this one.

Hiro leaned back after passing off the tiny cat sculpture, watching the girl's expression as she examined his work. The act of creating was all good fun, sure, but seeing the effect that it had on people was where he found more of his enjoyment. It was always nice to have your work complimented of course, but the reaction he got from this one... well, it brought a genuine smile to his face. In any case, it seemed that they'd managed to make it through the first round without any issues, let's see if they could keep that up. At the mention of payment Hiro decided to give a mild prod at the clearly timid girl, making a show of folding his arms and cradling his chin, making a stern expression as if he was deeply contemplating a serious topic. In reality, he had already made a decent amount of cash, at least enough to keep him fed through to the end of the week, so he could very well just let her have the thing for free as a gift, but...
...Well, that could very well just end the interaction right there, couldn't it? That wouldn't be any fun.
Once again looking the student over, Hiro's mind finally made the connection between what he'd been hearing from the people passing by. An outdoor concert or something, right? Maybe she was the one that they'd been talking about? Not like there were an abundance of people carrying instruments around... but that gave him an idea. Keeping his expression as stern as possible, he pointed toward the guitar that she carried. Of course, he could only hold the gesture for a second or two before his face inevitably broke back into the same care free smirk he'd been wearing before. "Just a song" He added, mouthing the words in an effort to get his request across. It seemed like a perfectly fair trade to him; one piece of art in exchange for another.

At first he smiled, but then he folded his arms and adopted a somewhat stern expression. What? Did he not want her to pay for it and was offended that she suggested it? Or maybe he did not think it was very good work so was in fact insulted by the offer of payment? He pointed at her guitar case, leaving Airin horror stricken by the thought he wanted that in exchange for the cat. No deal, no way, the guitar was a gift, she could not give it up. Regardless of who, she would rather pay all the money she possessed than surrender so cherished an item. Yet he soon brought some clarity to the unfortunate situation the pair found themselves in, explaining he wished for a song in exchange. It seemed like a fair trade from Yui's perspective. After all, she had seen his talent in action, it would only be fair to show off what she could do. Though her's did not use her Quirk.
She offered him a small nervous yet cheery smile. "Sure." Yui carefully set her case down, but did not open it to play the guitar. This song she had not yet perfected the music for, so her voice would have to do. "How could I. Not realize that all this time. You've been here, every day, right by my side, through the best, through the worst, through every tear, I have found my way again, because you're here." It was clear Yui had a talent for music, where as she may have been anxious and nervous in conversation, in song, in her music her soul was expressed, the very fibre of her being burned bright in every lyric and note "Is this goodbye just until we meet again? So until then I will try my best to smile. Oh please I wish that we could stay like this, 'cause whenever you are near, I can feel a warmth within my heart. Promise you won't let go,even just a little hope, 'cause I know the sun will rise again, on the two of us." Yui seemed to be oblivious to some of the passers by and park goers who slowed or stopped to listen to her song.
"On this path I've begun, I now can see, what could be the future, for you and me." She appeared to be completely in control, happy, confident, utterly at ease with the world. "Though I hope, someday soon I'll understand and recall. Just those three words that you had said. Can you stay here? Just until my heart can heal. Is this a dream? If it is it feels so real." Yui had always wondered why she could sing comfortable to a crowd of strangers, but give her people to talk to and everything just went wrong. "Oh please, I feel like I could fade away... To the world within your eyes, if you'd only bring me along, my love. There's so much light in you. Though you don't believe it's true. So tomorrow I'll say it all again... Until you believe. Here on this path. You will make it through." Yui's voice had that natural appeal to it, each word sung delightful to the auditory senses. "Oh, oh-oh-oh. All at once, there is a dream and it's coming true, as destiny is calling me to you. Oh please I wish that we could stay like this, 'cause whenever you are near, I can feel a warmth within my heart. Promise you won't let go, even just a little hope, 'cause I know the sun will rise again. "
Yui took a deep breath and sung her heart out for the final chorus, giving her all for the last part. "Please I feel like I could fade away. To the world within your eyes. If you'd only bring me along, my love. There's so much light in you. Though you don't believe it's true. So tomorrow I'll say it all again until you do believe..." She let the last notes hang in the air before falling silent. She grinned at him. "Do you like it?"

As the girl set her case down Hiro almost wasn't sure he'd managed to communicate his point properly this time. But then she proved otherwise, and damn was the result unexpected. He'd certainly managed to stumble across an interesting one, hadn't he? Rather than playing something on the guitar like he'd assumed, the girl instead just started to sing, and the instant her voice started to ring out the timid demeanor he observed completely melted away. The abrupt change actually caught him a bit off guard and he found himself blinking in stunned amazement for a few seconds before just letting himself lean back and enjoy the show that he'd requested.
Y'know, this had to be the first time he'd actually had someone sing a song for him specifically, and it was a rather unique experience. There was no trace of shyness or hesitation in that voice, just someone pouring all of the passion and emotion they could muster into an art that they clearly held dear. That was something Hiro could truly respect, and he found himself staring as he let the melody wash over him. He paid particular attention to the expressions she made as she sang, almost as if trying to observe the soul itself shining brightly through the performance. As the girl continued a small crowd began to gather around the edge of the fountain plaza with people stopping to listen, and the boy began to understand exactly why he'd had so many customers that day. With a draw like this it was no wonder there had been so many people about.
As the melody came to an end, Hiro sat up straight again and returned her grin with one of his own. Did he like it she asked? A cute and very talented girl singing him a love song? Definitely not a feeling that he hated. He began to clap in response and the people that had gathered around quickly joined in for a hearty round of applause. After they finished and started to break up, Hiro bowed his head slightly and mouthed the words "Thank you" before climbing to his feet. With a clean motion he produced a ten Yen coin from his pocket and gave a quick pulse of his quirk before flipping it up for the girl to catch. If she examined the surface of the coin, she'd find the normal design wiped away clean and replaced by the word "Hiro" on one side, and the phrase "One Free Request" on the other. A voucher of sorts that he gave out on very rare occasions, one that was a bit of a tradition from his old family. The request in question wasn't limited to just his art sales of course, though that part of the concept was rather hard to explain without words. And sure, the coin technically counted as resorting to writing, but the game be damned; he actually wanted to make sure this message got across, and once it had been delivered he gave her a wink and extended his hand in a more formal greeting.

Yui turned a bright red when he and the gathered audience started to clap. She offered them a polite bow, smiling but clearly embaressed by their praise. She collected her case, slinging it over her shoulder again. She loved to sing and play music, somehow everything made sense when she did. It enabled her to give voice to thoughts and feelings which otherwise remained difficult if not impossible for her to express... Or at least impossible for her to express in a manner which another was capable of understanding what she happened to be going on about. She caught his coin, somewhat surprised by the sudden gesture. She turned the coin over and nodded. "Yui." The young hero in training said, deciding it was only fair. She did not know what he meant by one free request. She had never had anyone offer her such a thing before, but she was grateful for it all the same. It never hurt to have another person rooting from her corner right?
At his wink, Yui felt her cheeks turn an even deeper shade of red. Wait, was this flirting? Did he like her? Yui did not know and felt her mind rush with different possibilities, people were confusing. Was it a friendly wink? Or a flirty one? Did it mean he liked her a girl he just met? Or the song? Was he attracted to her? Or merely thought the gesture to be something to do after a song? Or maybe it had something to do with the coin? The coin, yes what kind of request did he mean? Song? A favour? Yui considered asking what was meant by his gesture, but decided against it as she could not find the words to begin to form such a challenging question.
He surprised her next by offering his hand to shake, Yui glanced at it for a moment, before offering her own for him to shake. It seemed a surprisingly formal gesture, especially since they were pretty much two talented strangers in a park. But this was a world filled with superheroes so perhaps this was not as strange as she thought it to be.

Hiro continued to watch the girl's expression after the song was over and he couldn't help but chuckle a bit, which was actually a rather odd feeling when you didn't have a voice. The shyness and insecurity was apparently back in full force, as made evident by the particular shade of scarlet her face turned with the applause. A shade that only got deeper after they successfully exchanged names and his light flirting apparently hit home. So her confidence and composure only lasted as long as her performance then? Certainly wouldn't be the strangest thing he'd ever seen out of a person. If anything, he actually found it to be a pretty endearing quirk of personality.
Now, there were only so many ways for a person to communicate when speaking was taken out of the equations. The more subtle intentions were a particular pain to get across, but there were ways. Handshakes weren't exactly a common greeting for two teenagers meeting in a park, but at the very least it was something that Hiro could put some expression into. When Yui extended her hand he didn't give some sort of stiff business handshake; he gave her a gesture that a gentleman would give to a lady. Gently taking her hand, he raised it slightly and gave an exaggerated bow with a sweep of his other hand. Part of him really wanted to tease her a bit more and give her the full princess treatment with a kiss to the back of the hand, but he decided to err on the side of caution. With her face as red as it was already, pushing that hard might have made her faint on the spot. No, this would do fine.
"Nice to meet you Yui."
With a smirk he broke off and folded his hands behind his head. This had certainly become a lucrative day, hadn't it? Not only did he make a bunch of sales, but he also met someone that had managed to impress him quite a bit. And that was something rather more important that a bit of pocket change, wasn't it?

Yui's eyes widened in surprise at his gesture, the action far too formal and reminded her of her father's parties that she unfortunately had to attend from time to time. They were okay if she was allowed to play something, but otherwise they were not exactly the most fun place for a teenager. Part of her hoped that she might be able to bring some of her friends to one, at least she would not be as bored there. Of course, escaping them altogether definitely possessed an appeal of it's own, but she doubted it could be done. At least her new friend did not make an attempt to kiss her hand. That would have been more embarrassing than anything she knew. Well except maybe for having to talk at the front of the class about something.
For Yui the day certainly had been an interesting one, though she never played for money, rather for the joy of it, the cash earned was always welcome. Though, given her family, wealth never happened to be an issue for her. Her parents were rich, a source of embaressment for Yui at school, however she tried to play it down since she did not want to be seen at UA simply as the rich girl. There was more to life than money, but she knew it must be harder on those who possessed less wealth or otherwise lacked the means for everything they desired or worse needed. If Yui wanted it, she never need want for anything, but her preferred to earn her own way, earn her own money for things. She resisted the vice of money, but to be fair so had her parents, they earned it through their work even though neither of them had a Quirk. "Nice to meet you too."

With full introductions finally exchanged, Hiro found himself practically buzzing with curiosity. He had always been a very social person, and his handicap had done little to change that particular personality trait, it just made the interactions a bit more... creative. Here was someone new and interesting; a cute and talented girl that he very much would have liked to get to know a bit more, and yet... "Oi, Hiro! Time to go!" The problem with chance meetings, was that schedules didn't suddenly change to accommodate them. He recognized the voice in an instant, and resisted the urge to roll his eyes in annoyance as the understanding dawned on him. It was far later than he'd realized. Spinning about he spotted his sister standing at the nearest entrance to the park and he gestured to her, holding up a finger to say that he needed another minute. That earned him an irritated sigh and the dark haired girl folded her arms before starting to slowly walk away.
Turning back to Yui, he gave the girl an apologetic smile and a shrug. As much as he wanted to spend a bit more time with his new acquaintance, he had places to be, and chances were that she did too. That just meant that anything else would have to be left for their next encounter, which.... as fun as it would be to leave up the pure chance of running into someone randomly in the city, the street urchin was a bit more proactive than that. Holding up a hand to ask Yui to wait for a second, Hiro knelt down and quickly began to sift through the rucksack that sat among his art supplies. After a moment he produced a pad of paper and a pencil, which he kept around for when customers didn't feel like playing charades, and quickly scribbled something down. Tearing off the sheet, he turned back to the girl and offered the paper to her with the most charming smile he had.
"Here, next Saturday?"
Sure, it was far from the most eloquent way he'd ever asked a girl on a date, but time wasn't on his side here and he had to work with what he had.

Yui noticed the girl calling for him to go. It was probably past time she started onto her return journey back home as well. Her life liked to keep her busy, what with her hobbies, home work and hero studies... Free time happened to be a very rare resource. She felt her cheeks flush with colour as she read the note. Now this was somewhat unexpected. "I.... Er... If I am free then sure." She said, feeling herself grow hot from embaressment. After all she could not promise anything since life liked to throw her curve balls to keep her busy. But if she did find herself free it would be fun to hang out. "I'll see you then if I can." She promised, glancing at her watch and then hurrying away. Yui needed to get back home.
