DOG DAYS
| The park was hardly where Hyousuke had hardly expected to spend the day, but with the gym as packed as it was, he figured that he might as well take some time to relax. He'd gone hard on his training, and even with his stamina regeneration being what it was, fatigue was another thing. If he didn't give his body some kind of rest, it was going to tear itself to shreds. However, as he watched a massive ball of golden fluff bound towards him, barking and slobbering all the way, he got the feeling that rest would be the last thing on the agenda.
Hyousuke was not sure where the dog had come from. All he could tell was that it was friendly - very, very friendly. "Hey there." He cooed, getting off the bench to kneel down and meet the bounding bundle of energy that'd run to meet him. "Where's your owner?" Hyousuke looked around once it became clear that the dog's owner wasn't coming after it - and that the dog wasn't going to be leading them anywhere. "So you're lost? Alright, let's see who you belong to..."
He wasn't sure whose it was either - the name on the tag was worn, and the phone number was barely legible. It didn't help that the retriever didn't seem to want to stay still, and was instead focussing on trying to leap onto Hyousuke, rub up against him, or otherwise make it difficult to read what was engraved there. "Come on..." He said, through grit teeth. "Stay sti- Yes, I get it, you're cute. Now stop moving so I can get you back t- Damn it." |

Asahi was walking around the park. His modified school uniform included a hood that he had up, but otherwise included a light grey blazer with gold trim around the buttons and cuffs, a standard white shirt underneath that, a teal tie (that was one of his four carbon binding cloths), and black trousers with a silver belt. He also had a pair of worn, red tennis shoes. Asahi himself was five foot six, with blue-violet hair, violet eyes, and a skinny build. The teenager was half-wondering why he was doing this...then he remembered why. Sachi was a fellow third year girl, who, like most of the girls in their grade and school in general, had a crush on his boyfriend, Kyou Kazumi. The student council president. And it was very public that they were dating. But she didn't take no for an answer or didn't care. And had wanted the blazing red head to help find her lost dog. Which probably wasn't lost. It also didn't help that said dog loved Asahi. Sachi sure as hell didn't. And like many others, wondered what Kyou saw in him. At times, so did Asahi. But unlike many others, Kyou never judged him based on appearances. And Kyou passed on the job to him.
The ratty looking teenager knew the dog had high energy. And knew that he wasn't shy about meeting strangers. With his luck, the cute, slobbery beast will pick out...the boy narrowed his eyes at a park bench where there was a hyperactive golden retriever messing around with a UA student. A tall blond. Oh boy. The teenager walked towards them. The dog suddenly stopped. Looked over to him. Jumped and knocked over the teenager, licked him, and ran for the hills. Or wherever the damn thing went. Sitting up, he had a deadpan expression on his face. Wiping the slobber from his face, he got up. Looking towards the other boy, he spoke in a hoarse and very raspy voice. "Pochi belongs to a classmate. And asked for help looking for him. He's a bundle of energy, as you can see. Care to help out? He likes playing tag. And I'm it..." Asahi may or may not regret this...

WORD COUNT 227
| Hyousuke stood and brushed himself off as best he could. “Covered in dog hair” wasn’t a good look for anyone, least of all someone that was wearing a uniform that – frankly speaking – wasn’t exactly cheap. “Tag, huh”? He said flatly, wondering more about how they were going to get it to follow them, or at least keep it still long enough to get the owner back to them. If he knew dogs, then he knew that Pochi wouldn’t rest until he was physically dragged off somewhere. That dog was dead-set on enjoying himself no matter what. “Sure, I don't mind at all. But I think we'd better get started soon. Pochi's gotten a head start and he's using it.”
He looked out at where Pochi had run off to, trying to figure out whether or not the pooch was going to just run off anywhere without them, or if it was going to wait and see if they were playing along. It was difficult to tell from where they were, but he supposed that they’d better give chase anyway. Hyousuke, knowing his luck, suspected that the dog would do something dumb if they didn’t catch up to it. Without warning, he took off jogging towards Pochi, pounding his shoes against the path. The uniform was hardly suited to running, but he’d have to complain about that later. |

The other boy started to give chase. Asahi went off at an angle, heading towards a different area. It was risky to cause a scene, but he wanted to get this done and get back to his precious Kyou. Once in range of a short building, he reached inside his sleeve, and threw out what looked like a bandage. It wrapped around the sign post, and allowed him to crawl on top of it. It slipped right off the sign post, and Asahi went on running, jumping onto ever higher buildings. He spotted the dog, who was much closer than anticipated. But once it spotted the other boy, Pochi took off, turning into an alley way. Asahi dropped down using the fire escape, landing just in front of him. The dog slid to a stop, gave a happy bark, and turned and ran the other way.
Asahi ran after him. The dog did a feint to trick the blonde to go one way, and went another, around him. Which had the unfortunate side effect of Asahi running into him. The poor thief's head rested at the guy's stomach. Looking up, he apologized. Pochi barked at them, and ran off again. Almost clearly smug. Asahi scrambled up and darted towards the dog, throwing another bandage from his sleeve. It missed and got a light pole instead. The boy used it to pull himself faster in that direction, once past it, the bandage slipping right off. Asahi rewound it underneath his clothes as the dog zigzagged around. Times like this he wished he could use his quirk to quickly catch up...

WORD COUNT 233
| Keeping pace with the dog was hard enough. Even though he had an essentially limitless source of stamina at his disposal, and could go full-pelt as long as he wanted, Pochi always seemed to be keeping himself a step ahead. Hyousuke couldn’t deny that he was having fun – the dog was happy, and it wasn’t like he had anywhere to be that needed him urgently. But at the same time, it was a little frustrating to know that he was being outdone by a dog, and not even one of the especially bright breeds either.
He stumbled backwards a little at the sudden collision, though it was more out of surprise than anything else. Hyousuke was essentially a solid wall of muscle, after all – chances were, Asahi wasn’t going to knock him down if he wasn’t trying to. It was a matter of little importance though, and Hyousuke pushed it out of his mind, focussing back on keeping pace with the dog and the stranger. He couldn’t run nearly as fast as someone propelling themselves forward, but with power surging outwards from his heart and into his veins, going longer was a cinch. He only hoped his shoes didn’t get messed up from it - they were hardly designed for running, after all.
“He’s fast!” Hyousuke called out, trying to at least lighten the mood a little. “What’s his owner been feeding him?!”

"I wish I knew. Sachi hates my guts, so there's no way she'd ever tell me." The dog did a hard bank to the left, and Asahi flung a binding cloth up, allowing him to flip onto a light pole. He then jumped over to the building on the left, run across it, jump down, and run to where the alley left. It was a little bit of a maze, but it was easy enough to navigate. He just hoped the other student kept on the dog's tail. Asahi found the exit, and went into it. He made barely three steps into it when he saw Pochi turn a corner. And then go to the right. The boy calmly walked over to that entrance. He knew that was a dead end. When he turned into it, there was Pochi, sitting down. The dog barked happily. It was a short chase, but the bundle of joy was still happy. Asahi couldn't help but smile and walk over to him, kneeling down to grab the collar. This earned him a long lick across the face. But something caught the boy's eye. In addition to the old, worn out name-tag and address, there was transmitter on the inside of the collar. This earned him a frown. Signalling the other student to come over to take a look, he spoke. "I knew it. Pochi wasn't really lost." His raspy voice displayed his anger.
And it was at this time that Sachi and a group of seven girls, including a beast of a woman that was easily eight feet tall and rippling with muscle. "Yeah. Pochi wasn't lost. I still don't know why he likes you so much...you're a disgusting homeless boy that doesn't deserve Kyou. You're dismissed, UA student." The prissy girl sneered at the UA student. Asahi kept his cool for now, and waited to see what he would do. If nothing was gonna happen soon...he was gonna end up seriously hurting someone...

WORD COUNT 332
| Hyousuke might not have been particularly fast, but he was as durable as all hell. Keeping on the dog’s tail was just a matter of knowing which way it’d turned – even then, he was fairly certain that Pochi just wanted to be chased, and would slow down to make sure that he was there regardless. He had to admit – he was having fun with it as well. It’d been a while since he’d just run for the fun of it, rather than as part of his workout or some training exercise. With a dog as well? That was even better.
That slight look of contentment on his face changed to a more serious one when he saw what was being pointed out to him. Hyousuke recognised a transmitter when he saw one – but that begged the question of why it was even there. If the dog’s owner recognised where it was, what were they doing chasing it all over the place? Why hadn’t the owner been the one chasing them? And what were they doing, backed up against some grotty dead end? He stroked his chin, glancing between Asahi and Pochi’s collar, wondering what exactly had happened.
He didn’t recognise the voices behind him. He was certain that he didn’t know the people speaking. But he recognised the tone – and he was certain that he knew what kinds of people they were. “Dismissed, huh?” He said, barely even bothering to restrain the disdain in his voice. “I chased this dog over half the god damn city trying to get him to stop, because I thought he’d gotten lost. And then I find out he’s got a tracker in his collar. Add on the fact that I’m just now getting dragged into someone’s personal drama…” Hyousuke rose slowly from his crouching position, and turned. The anger on his face was about as well-disguised as it was in his tone. “I think I’ll stick around until someone tells me what the hell’s going on.” |

Asahi eyed the other boy from the corner of his eyes. The guy was also angry. And had spoken up. Talk about living up to the reputation of UA students. That didn't stop the girls. The large one grinned. Clearly the muscle of the group. But Asahi was confident in his own power...he could beat her easily. But the risk was huge. Before Sachi could say something in response, Asahi interjected. "The student council president at our school is handsome and good at just about everything. Sports, charisma, grades, and he could easily be a top model. He's...well sought after by most of the female population at school, and even some guys. He's bisexual. And he and I are dating. Which hasn't gone over well these past two years..." He showed the UA student a picture of Kyou Kazumi on his phone. Which showed the red head pinning Asahi at a school desk, both of their faces...a little red. And glaring at the person that took the photo. Admittedly playfully. But still. Hopefully that explained everything that needed to be known.
"Shut up! You ingrate need to know your place!" Sachi screamed at them.
"And of course the one that took the biggest hit to their ego is her. Sachi. Kind of ironic that her dog adores me, hates Kyou-chan, and she hates me and adores-" He got interrupted by Sachi.
"Screw you asshole! Kyou deserves better! He deserves ME! Get him!" The huge lady charged and did a large wind up.
Asahi stepped forward. From the small of his back, a red, muscly tendril came out, and caught the punch. Shockwaves blasted from the coiled catch. Sachi's eyes grew wide, Pochi whined as he hid behind the UA student. Bloodlust could be felt from Asahi, but it was all focused on one person. And Sachi stepped back from it, clearly afraid. "Yeah...good luck with that. I don't take threats lightly." He squeezed. And large lady yelled in pain as her arm snapped in multiple areas. Asahi's quirk went back into his back. A cruel laughter was heard from behind the girls. The boy's bloodlust subsided as the red head from the photo stepped around the corner.
"Well well well. What do we have here. A jealous bitch and her merry friends. You do realize that you just got yourselves expelled, right? And that this is textbook self-defense? So Asa-chan is immune to punishment. What do you say, Mr. UA student?" The red head tilted his head in curiosity. He wasn't alone. A blond with glasses was also behind him, but off to the side. Kyou had a small smile on his face. And the girls were shocked, even the huge one with the now broken arm had stopped screaming and staring at him. Sachi looked between the two groups.

WORD COUNT 299
| Hyousuke glanced at the picture. While it was nice to have an explanation for everything that was happening, he had to admit, he didn’t really care about the details. The stranger could’ve been dating a sentient lamppost for all he cared – all Hyousuke wanted to know was whether he’d have to start breaking ribs, or if they’d be able to get out of the whole debacle unscathed. Judging by the glare that he was giving the group blocking them off, it seemed like he was itching for a fight. Old habits died hard, and with one of his being getting into scraps with people tougher than him…
He lurched forward, dead-set on throwing a punch right into that gorilla of a girl and splintering her sternum before she had a chance to swing a fist. A wind-up like that was just asking for trouble from someone that actually knew how to swing a punch, after all, even if she looked like she was several tons of solid muscle. But the other got there before he had a chance (to his slight disappointment), and dealt with the situation. He’d never admit it, but Hyousuke was certain that it would’ve taken him far longer than the stranger had managed.
Hyousuke stepped back and straightened himself up while the redhead spoke, adjusting himself so that he didn’t look as though he’d just been about to start driving his knuckles straight into someone’s gut. That pissed-off expression still lingered on his face, however, and on his tone as well. “Assholes are getting off lucky with just that.” He grumbled. “But yeah… Just seems like self-defence to me.” Part of him was regretting that they’d not swung at him too. He was pissed, and a good scrap was what he needed to fix that. |

Sachi glared at the UA student first, then pleaded at Kyou. "L-let's cut a deal! Clearly the rat is stronger than he looks. And you value strength, right? Surely we can work something out!"
Kyou tapped his chin as he observed the situation. It would be amusing to see how the UA student fights. Even as Hina got up, and regenerated her broken arm, sickening cracks sounding. Even with the huge student cringing at the pain of it, it was a strong quirk, combined with her otherworldly size and strength. But she didn't know how to fight. None of them did. Asahi did, to an extent. And his quirk was pretty powerful itself. And then the UA student. Who really looked like he was itching for a fight. The blond with glasses next to him whistled, the dog bounding straight for him. And stayed next to the Vice President. It was...amusing to say the least, that Sachi would offer that.
"To be honest, I doubt the seven of you can beat Asa-chan and the UA student. What's your name and class, lad?" Assuming he stated it, that rose an eyebrow from both Shouta, the blond with glasses, and Kyou. Asahi himself gave the guy a curious look, and the girls were shocked. "Well, most definitely not then. But I'll play your game. If you survive two minutes, even just one of you, you win and I'll break up with Asa-chan and give each of you five dates in which we literally do whatever you want. Including some R-rated activities in the bedroom if you so wish. But if you lose, you not only get expelled, but you volunteer at homeless shelters and assist LGBTQ+ assistant centers until you graduate. Oh, and nothing happened here...Shou-chan will see to that. Sorry to involve you in this, but you seem like you're itching for a fight. Knockout blows and do try to avoid major injuries. Get ready..." Kyou leaned up against the wall, looking bored as he set a stopwatch on his watch as the girls all nodded in agreement, even in glee. They were confident because of numbers. Asahi and the girls prepared themselves, the girls positioning themselves for a three v one against Asahi, which included Sachi, and four v one against Hyousuke, including Hina the Giant. "Set...And go!"
Asahi's group all charged, but the boy had two red tendrils appear and was much faster. He moved past the first two, smacking them across the legs and slamming their heads against the hard ground. Both one hit KOs. Sachi's face after he did that was priceless. Asahi grinned as he swept across her legs with on tendril, and grabbed onto her face with the other one, the end of it splitting open into a plus sign. And promptly slammed her against the wall, knocking her out. When releasing her, he dug the "fingers" into her skin, putting four long scratches that would hopefully scar on her pretty face. He looked behind him to see how the UA student was doing...

WORD COUNT 596
| Hyousuke’s expression twitched at seeing her beg for forgiveness – or, at least, as close to it as she seemed like she could manage. Throwing away her pride like that… Hyousuke couldn’t help but feel his anger rising slightly at such a shameful display as that. A paler shade of white covered his knuckles as they tightened, and for a moment, he was tempted to lash out at her – tell her what a cowardly asshole she was. But he restrained himself, not wanting to make the situation any worse than it was, if only for the stranger’s sake rather than his own.
He hesitated at the request for his name and class. Getting into brawls was behaviour that was hardly becoming of a UA student, and he was inclined to just keep his secrets. But a tall, toned blonde with a scar cutting across his eye stood out at the best of times – all the redhead would have to do was glance over who was in that year’s roster, and he’d be able to pick Hyousuke out with ease. Through grit teeth, he responded, trying to disguise his reluctance with his anger. “Hyousuke Suzuki, 1-A. Pleasure to meet you.”
The prospect of a fight did give him some small degree of pleasure, though. They were outnumbered, and with his Quirk being quite underwhelming at the best of times, they were most likely outgunned as well. But at the same time, it didn’t seem like any of them knew how to actually fight. Perhaps they’d gotten a little bit of practise in using their Quirks to push around some weaker students – something else that got his blood boiling at just the thought – but throwing punches? Tactics? Actually taking a hit when someone decided to fight back? He figured the beast was probably the most dangerous out of them, solely because of her Quirk. “Save it.” He said, grinning and cracking his knuckles. “You should be sorry for them instead.”
Hyousuke practically leapt forward at that start of the two minutes. His wasn’t the quick, clean, and methodical takedown that his new friend had enacted – it was a messy, bloody flurry of fists, feet, and nails. Their hands scraped at and slammed into him, carving off skin and marking it with patches of red – but they were imprecise and unpractised. They stung, sure, but it wasn’t anything he’d not seen before. His blows, however, had been honed through countless hours of practise, and found their mark almost every time. Ribs, jaws, sternums, knees – he wasn’t knocking them out, but he was sure as hell knocking them down. The only trouble was their lumbering buddy.
She’d made her way into the middle of the fray, and Hyousuke threw up his hands out of instinct. It wasn’t a blow he could guard against – even though it was telegraphed, he’d been so focussed on the other three that by the time he managed to react to her, he didn’t even think to dodge. The force of it sent him slamming backwards into the wall, but even with the wind knocked out of him, he grinned back at the only one left standing. He hurt all over. If a part of him wasn’t stinging, it was aching. He wasn’t sure if he could take on the beast leering down at him. But the adrenaline surging through his veins, the blood pounding in his ears, the taste of iron on his tongue… He’d missed it more than he cared to admit. The look he bore at her wasn’t just strange. It was outright manic. |

Asahi winced when the guy was slammed back. Though he was slightly impressed that Hina didn't back down from the look the guy gave her. The other three were definitely hurt. A quick chop with his tendrils took them down. It was interesting to see, but he also wasn't going to let the guy cost him the chance to date Kyou. Using his quirk, Asahi sliced the woman's Achilles tendon. That caused her to drop down. But she twisted to aim a backhand at the boy. Asahi cartwheeled over it and used his quirk to put him next to the hero wannabe. "Don't cost me Kyou. Together, double strike her face." He darted forward. When she struck, Asahi used his tendrils to slap them away. And used them to leap up. With any luck and if his timing was right, Hyousuke would strike her face just as he smacked her into the ground, making her butt stick up in the air and hopefully knocked out.
Kyou chuckled. "I expected better. Your strikes had a lot more meaning and impact than the others, so at least you've had training. But still...you should have been able to take them down faster than that, and without Asahi's help. Still, the help is appreciated. My name is Kyou Kazumi, student council president and class representative of class 3-A at the school everyone here goes to. Will you be fine like this? I'd hate to get you in trouble for this...if you need it, I can come with you and explain your state to your teachers. Either way, if you have a request, I'll see what we can do for you. After all, we do owe you now..." As he spoke, the red head walked up to Asahi, tilting the guy's head up, and planted a quick kiss on the lips.
The violet haired teenager hugged his boyfriend and snuggled against him. Pochi gave out a happy bark at the duo. Asahi looked at the UA student in curiosity. "I...also have a couple of questions too, if you don't mind..."

WORD COUNT 218
| Hyousuke cracked his knuckles as he glared at the girl in front of him. Her friends had all been taken care of – cut up, beat up, and left on the ground. Asahi was bearing down on her, and he had free reign over what he wanted to do with her – within reason. “Oh, I’m gonna enjoy this…” He growled, cracking his neck while he grinned at her. Without a further word, his fist cocked back, and a vicious jab shot into her nose. His right followed just a moment later – slower, but far heavier blow, with his weight driving his fist into her as though he was trying to punch through her.
At the commentary given on his performance, Hyousuke’s expression hardened, but he kept from firing off anything snarky back. No need to risk getting on the bad side of someone that wasn’t trying to be his enemy. Not explicitly, anyway. Instead, he dusted himself off and straightened his uniform as best he could, trying to at least resemble something close to presentable. “If you wouldn’t mind, it’d be appreciated. I’m not sure they’ll believe that I got into a fight that wasn’t my fault for once.” He chuckled a little, before turning towards Asahi, a curious look on his face. “Hm? Go on then, ask ‘em.” |

Kyou tilted his head. "If you have a snappy comeback, please feel free to say it. I know it's odd for me to judge your performance...I'll meet you at the end of the alley." The red head slowly walked out, with the blond following with Pochi, and several other students coming out to perform first aid and getting the girls out of there.
Although Kyou was still in earshot when Asahi spoke up. "He won't take offense to whatever you were about to say. He's a strong fighter as well, despite his quirk not being a physical enhancement type or anything like that. Anyways, do you know a student named Daichi Arashi, and if so, how is he doing?" That got a small glance from Kyou.
Still, after the answer and the two caught up to the red head, Kyou had something to say. "You never gave much interest in your half-brother before."
Asahi shrugged. "Just a mild curiosity." The boy took the hand that the red head offered. And let Hyousuke lead the way.
While Asahi was quiet, and just enjoyed being with his boyfriend, Kyou set off with small talk with the blond UA student. Namely favorite classes, least favorite classes, first impressions of his classmates, friends, etc. And Kyou would answer in kind. Science and math, English being his least favorite class, not that great aside from Asahi and Shouta, just those two as a significant other and best friend respectively, and so on.
When they got there, hopefully Hyousuke's homeroom teacher was there already. Or if not, called to meet them by the gate. And Kyou would start in, putting in all the charm he could muster in the presence of a pro hero. "Sensei, I'm Kyou Kazumi. Some of my classmates had a dispute that Hyousuke-kun got caught up in. The resulting fight wasn't at all his fault, and humbly ask if you could let this instance go, or if not, at the least a great deal of leniency. The students that caused the fight will be punished appropriately. As their student council president, I'll guarantee it." The blazing red head bowed deeply at the teacher, hoping the lady would take his charms and his word and be easy on the blond. Asahi likewise bowed deeply.

WORD COUNT 218
| “It’s nothing. Really.” Hyousuke said. His tone and his expression didn’t really lend credence to such a statement, but he didn’t fancy talking much about it at that point in time. While he was annoyed that it sounded like the redhead was doubting his skills – and his legitimacy as a hero course student – he knew that wasn’t the case, and knew better than to lash out at someone that meant well and was likely just making some offhand comment they’d not thought much about. It’d be better for everyone involved if he just let it go and tended to the matter at hand.
“Daichi Arashi…” Hyousuke scratched the side of his head as he tried to remember if he’d seen anyone by that name, or at the very least, heard of them. “Nah, sorry. I don’t know Daichis. Don’t even know if there’s any on the course. I could ask around for you if you want.” It wouldn’t take much to ask the few people he was relatively friendly with if they knew anything about this mystery student, or at least be able to point him in the direction of someone that did. He’d probably ask anyway – Asahi’s curiosity had piqued his own.
The fight hadn’t left Hyousuke in much of a mood for small talk, but still, he responded as politely as he could manage. His answers weren’t anything particularly interesting – he liked practicals best, like most people he knew. He didn’t really have any strong opinions on anyone in his class, save for one or two people, and he didn’t have much to say on what friends he did have. Each answer was delivered with a slight degree of hesitation and was noticeably curt, however. Like he was having to think about each one before he delivered it, and like he didn’t really want to talk at length about himself.
The bowing caught Hyousuke off-guard. It wasn’t something he was particularly used to seeing in anything but shows, and even then, he didn’t like the idea of doing it much.
