Having spent her entire life as the resident clumsy, rampaging serpent in the proverbial china shop, Chiura had developed an early and fierce appreciation for the more delicate things in life. The dainty, quaint and carefully framed had always appealed to her; senses of tradition and pageantry meant to dress up everyday activities charmed her to no end. Perhaps that was why she had always held the art of the tea ceremony in such high esteem. To her, it was the pinnacle of elegance -- the domain of the proper, well-like and respected lady. Sure, that was largely a relic of an era long since past -- and sure, Chiura had never once been accused of being a proper, well-liked and respected lady -- but that did little to dampen her affection for the act. Through the course of her classes, she discovered that another student shared her passion for tea ceremony -- a student from her own homeroom, no less. Chiura saw the similarity as an opportunity. The other girl seemed well-liked by the class, though she herself was rarely present of late due to illness. So she had written her, inviting her out to tea as a means of connecting. To her delight, the other girl had accepted -- which had brought Chiura to this particular tea house on a lazy Sunday evening. She sat coiled at the front entrance of the tea garden, hands primly rested in her lap. Her body was clothed in a traditional kimono, altared to suit her bodily needs; its fabric was lavender and pale seashell pink, and it was the nicest thing that Chiura rightly owned. In truth, the chance to wear it was alone worth the price of admittance to this place; but the thought of being able to forge a new friendship at the same time made the opportunity too good to pass up. Futaba has had a interesting last few weeks. She had been in and out of hero course and now she was sick with an illness that could potentially kill her. The doctors said it was very unlikely but they said there was the chance. She had to keep all her options open. There was a lot of uncertainty when it came to her cancer because of it's connection to her quirk, prompting the doctors to be more careful with their method of treating Futaba. Not that it mattered today. Today was going to be a fun day.
Due to her absences from 1-A, voluntary and involuntary, Futaba missed several students joining the class in recent weeks. Outside of those who came into class after she quit, there was not much she could have done. Fu doesn't think that it was her fault per say. She is still a bit uneasy about being back in hero studies, especially with the current state that she was in. Oh well, she was excited for today. One of the students she did not know had invited her to a tea ceremony and she was excited at the prospect of this.
Wearing her usual blue kimono, Futaba made her way to the tea garden. She did not need her medical equipment which made the prospects of the coming event even better. Approaching the tea garden, she looked around for a bit. She assumed she was looking for someone who was younger. Most people her age were not interested in these sort of things. Finally seeing the sitting student, Futaba walked up to her and gave her a bow.
"I'm Futaba Himura, pleased to meet you in person." Fu said in a pleasant tone.

"Ah! There you are." Chiura gave the woman a kind, broad smile before bowing at the waist (insofar as she had a waist) to match the depth and duration of Futaba's own. "I'm Yutsssuko Chiura. Thank you so much for joining me. I can never get anyone else to come to tea ceremony with me, and it's such a shame."
The girl was small -- to be expected when you were a massive snake beast, sure, but smaller than even most of her peers. She wore a deep blue kimono, resplendent in its elegant simplicity. It really suited her; she looked calm, collected and kind. Chiura couldn't help but revel in the moment of the meeting.
"The room is all prepared; we can head in when we're ready." She gestured towards the far left wall; one of the sliding doors was slightly ajar, and the texture of tatami mats was visible through the cracks. "Did you need anything in particular before we start...?"
Chiura knew that the girl was sick, but she wasn't familiar with the nature or severity of the disease. While she had no intention of talking about it unless the other girl brought it up, she also wanted to make sure she was comfortable. Chiura knew a thing or two about accomodating unconventional necessities, even if hers were more to do with her physiology than her health.

Fu gave off a small giggle. Back home, she felt alone when she wanted to do such things such as tea ceremonies with her "friends" was usually met with some sort of opposition. She hadn't asked anyone in U.A. yet if they wanted to accompany her to such a thing as she expected them to oppose the idea. That's why it was surprising she was invited by someone else to a tea ceremony. "I had the same issue back home in Otaru. The only ones who would do a tea ceremony with me was my mother but she was always busy with work." She smiled, adjusting little red band in her hair just a bit.
"I'm glad you invited me, Yutsuko-san." Fu peered around the small garden they were in that was near the tea house. It was pretty. It reminded her off back home. Her mother still cultivated the garden, based on the pictures she gets every once and a while. Having such a great quirk probably helped with that matter. Her mother was a born crime fighter and Futaba was not. It still hurt inside to think that she was pursuing being a hero with such a quirk and her mother was sidelined.
Shaking the negative thoughts out of her head, Fu returned to the here and now. "I should be fine. Doctors say I'm getting stronger by the day. You should be seeing me around more soon too!" Fu gave Chiura another bright smile before gesturing.
"Lead the way, Yutsuko-san."

Chiura beamed. Sinking into a friendly routine with Fu seemed natural and straightforward; they seemed to have similar interests, at least on the surface, and their backgrounds seemed at least somewhat similar as well. "Otaru? I've never been. I've heard it's nice, though. My mother taught me, as well; she always told me being cultured would be a good way to make people look past the scales and treat me with respect." She giggled, giving a little shrug of her shoulders as she beckoned for Fu to follow behind her. "It never really worked, but that's okay. I like tea."
She led the pair towards the small set of cushions around a traditional low-sitting table. Fu would have little trouble sinking into the requisite posture, though Chiura struggled mightily to lower herself properly. She flashed Fu a sheepish smile of apology as she contorted her body a few times in an attempt to find the right height for the ceremony.
Eventually, though, she found her desired posture -- loosely coiled and reclined somewhat like she might have been on a couch. It didn't look terribly formal. Chiura, though, seemed satisfied that it wasn't going to be getting much better. Once Fu seated herself, she reached for the small matches and lit the flame that would heat the water.
"I'm glad to hear that you've been getting stronger, and that I'll be seeing more of you!" she chimed as she toiled away at placing the tea leaves into the cups. "1-A is so intimidating. Everyone seems so accomplished, and the more friendly faces I have in there with me the better."

Fu gave Chiura a small smile. "Otaru is nice, albeit cold. That's Hokkaido in general though." Fu grinned a bit, thinking of the cold nights that would come about during the winter. Even the summer was not the warmest. She remembered one of the General Studies made a comment about how warm it felt by U.A. compared to home (somewhere else in Hokkaido). Futaba tended to agree with that sentiment. She hated how hot it was Musutafu compared to back home. "Honestly, it's just practise. My mother and I did these sort of things a lot but she encouraged me to do them by myself to find an appreciation for them. I guess it sort of worked, eh?" Fu giggled a bit, following her fellow student.
Sitting down on the small area that was prepared for them, Fu took the proper posture for the tea ceremony. Picking up some tea leaves to add to the cups, she noticed Chiura had already started. Smiling a bit, she put them back. "Oh, I understand. When I first got to 1-A, I was intimidated. Everyone had cool powerful quirks and then I had my weak quirk. It was depressing. 1-A has a lot good people though. All our quirks are cool and powerful in their own way!" Fu said, giving her fellow classmate a bright smile. It was exciting stuff. She was excited to get back into 1-A.
"We'll find our role in U.A., I know it!" Fu added, giving her classmate another encouraging look.

"I guess it did!" Chiura agreed, bouncing happily as she did so. There was an earnest, quiet joy about Futaba that she found infectious; it was so easy to get along with her, and it truly felt like they had a great deal in common. The red-headed serpent had admittedly been quite nervous about this meeting beforehand, but now things seemed to be settling into a wonderfully pleasant rhythm.
She grinned, fangs glinting as she saw Futaba start to make the tea only to relent to Chiura's already-initiated endeavor. "Sorry," she chuckled quietly. "I guess I'm a little over-eager." Gently, carefully, methodically, she began to grind the tea leaves in their little wooden cups. One, then the other, pounded into little flecks of emerald dust by the bamboo whisk held firmly in her left hand. It was an exacting art; too fine and the flavor would be practically nonexistent, but too coarse and it would taste like a weird soupy emulsion. The kettle whistled quietly on its perch as it began to warm to boiling.
"You're right," she confirmed with a broad smile. "We'll find a place. Even if it's just alongside each other, yeah?" Chiura liked the idea of spending more time with Futaba. It seemed like an excellent opportunity; with all of the gigantic personalities in 1-A, Futaba seemed like someone that she could be level and genuine with at all times. As far as the snake girl was concerned, that was a substantial blessing in and of itself.
