Ren tensed as he stepped through the doorway, but the surprise attack he was bracing for never came. Instead, all he got was a heavily altered voice calling out across the warehouse to mock him. Golden eyes traced up to see a person in a red demon mask standing halfway up a set of stairs. That was probably the one they were after, Akuma, if the mission brief was to be believed. So they were actually on the move, but from the hero student's point of view, they would have been gone already if the had actually been trying to make a break for it. They'd certainly had enough time for that. So they claimed it wasn't that type of trap, but here they were...
The blonde's eyes darted back and forth across the room as he scanned the surroundings, a motion mirrored by small quick adjustments in the red gleaming light on his helmet. There was a second figure not too far from the one with the demon mask, but there was no clear path over to them. The warehouse floor that stretched out before them was a veritable maze of machinery and enclosed office spaces, and the whole space was littered with all manner of debris. Broken glass, nails, splinters, metal scraps, lots of small stuff and a lot of it sharp. So if they weren't actually running and the trap wasn't an ambush, did that mean the place was covered in traps of a more traditional sense? Probably.
"Sorry, not really the speech giving type..." Not that he thought it would be even remotely worth the effort with this one. He'd seen the faces of the thugs earlier, they probably thought they were in the right, entitled to what they were doing. Probably even enjoyed it too, just like all of those bastards that preyed on the weak at his old school. The memory once again made Ren's eyes narrow and his heart rate picked up. He never cared when they did it to him, he could take it, but every time he saw them target someone else... He'd stopped them from terrorizing people before, and he could do it again here. "...Guess that means there's only one other option, huh?"
A hiss of white breath escaped Ren's helmet and the boy stomped down on the ground in front of him. From the point just in front of his foot, a jagged column of ice shot out, a relatively thin spire beginning to extend out directly toward the catwalk that the two villains stood on. When it was about fifteen feet out, he stepped onto the structure and started running, letting ice continue to pour into it with each step. "Let's go, Anthem!" He shouted back to Daiki as he raced across the frozen ramp. He continued to grow the structure until he could feel himself straining at the limits of his output, leaving about ten feet of empty space to cover at the end. Close enough. All in all, it probably wasn't the most stable structure in the world, but it only had to support the students weight for a few seconds. As he reached the end of the spire, Ren kicked off with a little extra momentum boost from his quirk pulling on his armor. He aimed himself right at Akuma, and as he sailed through the air his Bokuto flashed out of its sheath and toward the kid's shoulder.

[attr="class","sinner"] [attr="class","sinner1"] [attr="class","sinback"] [attr="class","sinnert"] Spotting Kyou Kazumi and his ally Oni couldn't have sparked a deeper moment of thought in his mind. While the events to come would play out at a speed that many can't keep up with, it only takes a moment; a fraction of a second to realize a subconscious truth in the form of empathy. He didn't know where either of these two people grew up. He didn't know their conditions. With them now was Teresa Collins, a girl who has been so manipulated and influenced by her father that she'd become severely emotionally incapable and only felt some distant form of conscious gratification from fulfilling his words. Yet she still got into UA, she still followed the law. If immorality is defined by unjust suffering it's a cycle that can only be stopped by being the better person and truly being a Hero. Not being motivated by money, fame, violence, none of that. It was a long journey, but at this point it begged the question of what did Kyou go through to end up the way he was now? He seemed not a year older than most of his classmates despite the mask, he couldn't be older than thirty if he was stretching things. It helped that Isamu had given him some knowledge of the boy being a civilian student at another school in his normal disguise. That being said, as far as Daiki could tell someone that put their entire life into running a gang must not have parents that are there for him anymore. Was it loneliness? A desire to build community to be a part of something? Being without parents is grounds for ostracizing anywhere in society nowadays in younger years. That Civilian ID probably wasn't the most popular. It just... He felt like he empathized with the Villain, and maybe he correctly did or maybe his presumptions were wrong. Maybe it was his greatest gift, maybe it was Daiki's naivety striking once more. Needless to say, he knew what needed to be done because not all things can be mended. At least not on the menders terms, he'd need to show Kyou that he's someone to listen too. Just looking at him, he knew what might make him listen to words. If he lost, fair and square. Was bested and proven to be a less formidable fighter in whatever capacity that warranted. Gripping his fists behind Ren as he started to form the ice ramp, a terrifying reality would become apparent contrasting the duos earlier observations. Daiki had been holding back, not just a little, but a lot. The glow of his body had been a steady cobalt color, almost calming and neutral. While it wasn't tied emotionally, one could consider a correlation between effort being implied and a motivation behind that effort. After all, ones convictions need to be powerful if they want to have any shot at going beyond their limits. Just bracing to dash, the color of the bio-luminescence along his body as well as the sparks and his eyes changed from Cobalt to Aqua, then Aqua to Rose. A fascinating red glow that danced across his body. In the moments before the ramp was complete and Ren moved towards it, the boy spoke with a bold and proud voice. " You've proven time and time again that you won't listen to reason on equal footing. I'll humor your rules, and at the end of it all you'll humor mine." In that moment there was a flash of rose energy as Daiki started to move. Careful not to knock Ren off of his own ramp considering he would catch up fast, he moved at a rapid speed allowing his momentum from the ground to carry him up the slippery slope instead of sliding back down. Almost meeting evenly with Ren at the jumping point, they leapt upwards at the exact same point. Anthem, having been lagging a fraction of a second behind Ren kicked off with such force that the ice caved in on itself and started to crumble as they were both airborne. That being said, while Ren made a clear and perfect jump, Anthem's force in jumping caused him to have less to kick off of considering the ice had given way to his strength when he went for the leap. It almost looked like he wouldn't make it up. Like that gap wouldn't be closed. While he'd shoot forward far, he just might not have gotten the height. That being said, Daiki wasn't going to just let that happen. Flying forward, his left arm shot up and clenched closed around the edge of the catwalk, quite literally blowing through the plywood in order to do so. The entire catwalk strained at the force of the impact, and no doubt his hand was a little sore after that. Most notably of all, the catwalk right around where he grabbed bent downwards, causing a large majority of the specific walkway they were all on to bend slightly at an angle. It wouldn't be unreasonable for the moment to cause a slight imbalance for just a second until all was right once more. With Ren being the spearhead, he had a moment to pull himself up. With impressive strength, he lifted his body weight with his left arm and threw himself over onto the catwalk. Of course, this only made the metal bend further around where he'd grabbed, some of the links snapping from the force. Yet he was up, and he wasn't going to immediately join a spearhead with Ren. After all, two attacks from a single direction might as well be one to the right dodge. He was looking at Oni, and if the accomplice attempted to intercept Ren's strike, he'd dash in the way and repel it if possible. The battle had begun, this next minute would determine the outcome. Post by Teresa Collins on Sept 3, 2019 17:16:44 GMT
Teresa remained calm and collected as she had regained control over herself and repressed the emotions from before. She had to keep her mind and soul clear in order to attain the goal her team was to achieve. The person in front of her did not scare her as in her time within her father's company, she had met far worse people and had seen far worse things that this person in front of her did not seem to reach right now. It all happened so quickly, the movements of the boy in front of her and the reach he made for her weapon. In her time with training with her father taught her that some sacrifices had to be made in order to achieve the final result. No matter what, the end goal was to be met regardless of how you got there. Sighing in her annoyance, Teresa let go of her staff and allowed it go for the time being. It was expendable, she could get another one from her father the next time she met with him if she could not get her weapon back. Besides, she was able to fight with her fists as well as other methods. She heard it clatter to the ground, but the boy in front of her kept coming at her. She did not notice the blade like cloth ready to slice her, but she did keep her distance since she did not want to get grabbed by those same clothes from before.
Teresa, at the last moment, decided that long distance fighting might suit this situation better than trying to overpower her opponent with her strength. Since it was just her, she would remain vigilant and careful with how she was moving. He made his move to stab at her side, which made the girl skip back suddenly to try and avoid the blow. However, she missteped and ended up almost tripping backwards. Before she could right herself fully and allow her mind to be strategic along with the fast paced battle, she felt a slice at her side where the cloth seemed to cut her. She felt warm liquid fall from her side slowly. The wound wasn't very deep, but it still stung like hell. Silent as usual, Teresa righted her legs enough to drop herself down and send her gloved fist down into the ground to make a large impact. The impact wasn't as big as she would have liked with how her body had been moving, but it was enough to give her some ammo to launch at the person in front of her. She lifted a heavy piece of concrete quickly, feeling her muscles burn as they wake up with the sudden weight. Throwing it hard, she aimed it directly at the boy in front of her, using all of her strength. Still crouched on the ground, she picked up another piece, smaller this time, and did the same as she did to the first. She hoped that they would make contact, but anything could happen and she would not underestimate her opponent. With a hard push with her legs, Teresa moved up and around as she picked up a garbage can lid, making a frisbee motion with it, she used her strength to give it a hard toss towards the boy, spinning fast with the force she applied to it. All the while her side was still bleeding slowly. She made a mental note to put pressure on it soon when she got a chance.

She ditched the weapon, huh? Interesting play, but not enough to stop him! Vanish managed to cut her side open, but it was not as deep as he would've liked. The woman slammed her fist into the ground beneath her, making him stumble backwards a bit, but stayed upright. Impressive power...but his quirk was more flexible. The tendril thickened out back to normal, and whipped in front of him, sending the large piece of concrete flying away. The muscle like quirk bent back around, and up, to stab the smaller piece, forming a crack right in half of the block, the pieces slowly splitting in half. The tip of his quirk was always hard, and was easily strong enough to stab into concrete and other masonry. Again, Asahi used his quirk to block the next piece of thrown debris, a garbage can lid. Though he flattened the tendril back out and let her own strength do the work for him, splitting the piece of thin metal in half until it stopped moving. Taking the metal off and tossing it to the ground, he stalked forward.
Giving his tendril the staff, he threw it back at her, aiming for the gut, and with enough force to make it spear into an unused forklift in the next warehouse lot if he missed. He ran at her, ready to stab Teresa in the left shoulder. Then he tried to get her ankle once again, this time to yank it enough to stumble her, and vulnerable for another stab to the thigh. One way or another, he was seriously going to crush her!

"Or you could just let us leave." It was a bit of a sarcastic response. No would be hero would let this opportunity pass by in failure willingly. Though when Daiki spoke, he couldn't help the chuckle. "I think you need to get your facts straight. I spoke to Kitten once. So there is no "time and time again." Just the one time." Then they made their move. Ren made the ice bridge, and Daiki was doing something different. So, the guy was holding back...clearly he spoke to Kitten about the red head. When Ren jumped at him, Oni was prepared to intercept, but between Daiki's trip, Kyou held out his left hand to signal him to stop, and let Ren try to hit him.
The red masked man put away the knife, and caught the staff, flinging it and Ren away and into the maze. Though due to Daiki's messing with the catwalk, the throw as a little bit messed up, so not near as far as he'd hoped. Still, Daiki stayed put at the moment. Akuma walked up the few steps to be on the catwalk proper, speaking the while. Oni met Kyou at the top, and went one rung down. "Clearly you talked to Kitten. I don't mind chatting while we trade blows. But I think I have a pretty good idea of what you have to say. Still, smart of you to hold back until now."
From his grey combat pants, he swiftly threw two knives at Daiki with his left arm, and got one at the ready to use up close with his right hand. "What did you and Isamu Suzuki talk about?"
Oni jumped onto one rail, and then into the maze. Where Daiki would be behind Ren, but above them both. Though he still wouldn't make the first move yet. He knew that Kyou had been reading a lot psychology books among other things. He detect a small, but significant change in his friend. What it was, the black masked boxer could only guess.

Damn. Ren had seen Daiki use his quirk before, but he'd never seen it quite like that. He was actually pretty surprised that his fellow student hadn't just streaked past him with how he was moving, but the slippery surface must have robbed him of some of his speed, leaving both to kick off at the same time. The next part of the operation didn't quite go as planned however. Daiki's launch certainly had a bit more power to it, even if he didn't get the arc right, and he made contact with the catwalk first. The whole thing shifted slightly as the surface bent, throwing off Ren's aim enough that he was forced to adjust at the last second. That put him on target again, but it had the effect of reducing the power behind the blow. That was probably at least partly responsible for what happened next. All of a sudden he felt something take hold of his weapon and his trajectory shifted.
This guy was stronger than he looked. Or at least, that was what was going through Ren's mind when Akuma snatched the wooden blade and took advantage of his momentum to swing him into the warehouse beyond. A moment later his whole world was spinning, but by pulling on his armor he was able to stabilize just enough to get his feet righted and he hit the ground upright, skidding back several feet before he could summon up a bit of ice to use as a break. As he came to a stop, Ren's eyes darted up to see Akuma beginning to engage with Daiki while continuing on with his conversation like it was totally normal. Guy liked the sound of his own voice, didn't he? Wait a minute, why were they talking about Isamu, what did he have to do with any of this? It certainly raised a few questions that he would have liked answers to, but... they had a job to do here, and he could always find out more about that later.
Tightening his grip around his weapon, Ren was about to jump back into the fray when the kid in the black mask jumped down after him. Well, over him more specifically. The blonde turned to track him automatically and the red eye on his visor bored in on his figure as he came down on the opposite side. So this guy was going to be his opponent then? Fine. He didn't know what either of them were really capable of, but that didn't change what needed to be done. His bokuto returned to its sheath as he backed toward the catwalk, poised to draw at a moment's notice. As he moved almost directly beneath the structure, a thin layer of ice started to creep out from beneath his feet, spreading to cover every surface it could within a radius of twenty feet, even stretching up the supports to coat the underside of the walkway above. From his posture it looked like this one wasn't going on the offensive quite yet, and while the student did have a habit of going on the offensive when he had the chance, his opening moved proved that that wasn't necessarily the best idea when he didn't know his foes. The fighting style that Ren trained in was one of patience, and for now that seemed to suit the situation just fine.

[attr="class","sinner"] [attr="class","sinner1"] [attr="class","sinback"] [attr="class","sinnert"] ' I think you need to get your facts straight.' Almost incited a twitch of the brow from the boy. Though he wouldn't have long to consider his response. This would be a moving dialogue, and a fight of wills just as much as a fight of power. There's no easy way about this, but then again no one can expect to achieve anything easily. From his understanding his opponent fought from a place of necessary evil to change society to be better. He himself chose to surpass the system, so that he could change it from within. Two knives came into view from Kyou's left hand, so quick to try and kill someone. Surely they weren't lethal in their own right, but the bleeding and repercussions if those hit could lead to death. In a rose flash and with impressive reaction times Daiki dropped to his hands and feet. The knives flew overhead and sailed to a stop. Almost immediately he started his assault. Bursting forward in a wicked streak of pure speed, he'd get within two feet of Akuma before kicking himself up and to the left with his right food so his left food hit the railing. Then he'd kick off the railing with that foot to fly overhead Akuma to land behind him. Without a moment's hesitation Daiki attempted to grab hold of Akuma's knife arm from the back in that split second. If successful, he'd take his opponent in an overhead throw and smash him against the metal catwalk against his back, trying to get him to let go of the weapon in his hand. Of course, he would be stupid to think the fight would be over just like that. He would also be stupid to think after throwing two from almost nowhere, plus having one in his hand he'd still have more knives on him. Prepared for a counter-attack he'd take the opportunity after his movement and attack to give a response towards Akuma. " Kidnapping. Assault. Theft. You've hurt more lives than you've helped, and no matter where I found out what I know; your method is toxic. There's a better way." Daiki said with conviction in his tone. " I'll ask the questions. What are you thinking to truly believe what you're doing will lead to a better society? Do you think your sins are temporary? That your actions don't have consequences on their victims for generations? Do you think those just disappear once you've reached your goal? No." Daiki said. Ideally Akuma was on the ground, but it's possible he evaded the attack. While incredibly fast, it's not like he was fighting an amateur. Nor was he one. Plus, even if he did hit the ground it's not like that'd knock him out, maybe knock the wind out of him at worst. He wasn't trying to put out lethal amounts of force here. Seeing Ren and Oni in his peripherals on the warehouse floor below, he once again had to believe in his ally to win. Well, or at least hold out and believe that Daiki would win out against Akuma. The thrown staff missed her, barely, and she dodged the stab, but aimed a punch to the boy's face. The tendril blocked it, but was cracked, and made him slide back a ways, forcing him to abandon trying to tangle up her ankle. As he started to go after her again, however, she collapsed. Something wasn't right. An emotionless doll she may be, but something didn't seem right. Deactivating his quirk, Vanish walked up to her cautiously. Turning her over, she was out cold. Just to make sure he didn't accidentally kill her, the teenager checked her pulse. Then put his ear where her heart was. This did not seem good.
Taking out one of his protein shakes, he drank it and put it back on his belt. Reactivating his quirk, he picked her up with the tendril and started towards the warehouse. He can make it there in short time. And hopefully one of her friends will bail with her to get her to a hospital. Such a powerful quirk, but if it almost kills her...he questioned how good it really was. His own quirk consumed his muscle mass, part of the reason he was so skinny, and had to drink a protein shake to regain some lost time. Not as much as he would like, but only training could increase his longevity...though perhaps focusing more on power would do him better. It was hard to say which end he would rather go.
Either way, Vanish wasn't going to purposely let this hero wannabe die. He already had a body under his belt, but that one was deserving of death. This one wasn't.

Oni took a step for every one that Ren took. Until the ice started getting spread. Then he stopped, and went up to the make shift rails, making him above the ice user, but below Akuma and Daiki. But he kept the distance constant. He wasn't going to recklessly go after the most troublesome of the three. Oni gave Akuma a brief look and looked down towards Ren. The ice boy was almost underneath the dueling boys.
~
Akuma tracked the boy's movements and dropped his knife while turning, catching it with his other hand. He aimed to stab the arm that was trying to grab the former knife hand. The blond retracted the hand, and jumped back to avoid Akuma's body slash. They were being cautious. Akuma caught the glance of Oni. And nodded. Jumping to his left onto the makeshift partition, he was on the same level as Oni, and shuffled sideways away from Ren while speaking. "The kidnapping was a one time thing, and there were lots of things that I would have done differently if given the choice again. I have checked on the kid, and he seems to be doing well. The assaults, I'll admit was more me blowing steam...and will be ending now...have for several days now. I'll be the first to admit that it was toxic...and I intend on reforming the gang, turning it into something more akin to my ideals.
My actions having an effect for generations? Hopefully so, but for different reasons than what I was doing. For what you said to happen, I would literally have had to be going at it for generations, much like the severe mistreatment of black people and Native Americans when Great Britain started colonizing the United States. But since I'm not in either case...yeah, you way overblown that impact. Try being a bit more realistic there if you want to be taken more seriously. I'll get mine eventually, I've no doubt of that. But it won't be today." Just as he was about to make a move, the glass at the top of the warehouse towards the front of it shattered, revealing Vanish and the unconscious girl. Something must have happened...that ended way too quickly.
The dark haired boy tossed the girl at Ren and landed on the rail on the catwalk, about where Akuma was before he moved. Vanish spoke in his raspy, hoarse voice. "She needs to leave, now. Her heartbeat is irregular, I think she overused her quirk and is now suffering a heart attack, but I'm no expert on that..." It was a wild guess on Vanish's part. And the boy pointed his two tendrils at Daiki, but was ready to move if Ren did something. Of course, there was also the side cut, but it wasn't major yet. Now it was up to the hero wannabes to choose. Divide their forces to help their comrade, both go, and the absolute worse, abandon her and fight a three versus two.

Ren continued to eye the black masked thug while doing his best to pay attention to the fight above at the same time. The guy was mirroring his movements up until he started to flex his quirk a little bit, then it seemed he decided to back off more. So he was playing this just as cautiously then... Well, as long as he didn't try to interfere with the others, that was fine. Ren shifted more toward Akuma as the gang leader seemed to retreat back a bit but never let his gaze completely leave the other as he moved. With each step more ice crept outward in order to maintain the radius of control around him, slowly covering more and more of the warehouse in his frost. Now if he could just get a bit closer, then he could make his move...
But it wasn't meant to be. The shattering of glass made Ren's head snap upward just in time to a figure flying toward him. Teresa wasn't exactly big, but neither was he, and as he instinctively moved to catch the girl he started to fall back and had to summon up a mass of ice behind him to keep from being knocked flat. Immediately it was clear that she wasn't in good shape, skin even paler than usual, irregular breathing, and a fresh wound along her side... All of which contributed to a sudden spark of fury within the ice user. The air temperature plummeted and the layer of frost around him seemed to ripple slightly as Ren glared up at new arrival, recognizing them as the one they'd left her to fight. In that instant he almost struck out, but his reason managed to finally catch up as the boy's words actually registered in his mind.
Heart attack? He glanced down at Teresa again and took another look. Sure enough, the wound wasn't anywhere near bad enough to account for her current state unless this guy's quirk involved some sort of poison. That was a possibility of course, but... well, they'd already been told about the girl's condition before the mission. Temporarily shutting out the gang members, he tried to remember what they'd been told. If anything happened, then they were supposed to.... That's right, the bear. Luckily the bag was still on her back and Ren carefully shifted her so that he could get it open and extract the medicine bottle inside. After fiddling with the cap for a minute, he coated one of the pills with a tiny layer of ice to help it down and force fed it to her. Supposedly the was supposed to help, but... Beneath his mask, a sour expression passed over Ren's face. As much as he wanted to teach these guys a lesson and stop them from ever preying on the weak again... the safety of his classmate was far more important to him.
"...Daiki?" His suit hissed with the loss of the pressure seal as the visor opened and he looked up toward his comrade. "We need to get her to the hospital fast." As much as he didn't like it, if these guys didn't end up changing their ways, they'd get another chance at taking them down eventually.
