It was a rainy day today. Unfortunately, that meant that going outside and running to the training grounds in this weather was... let's call it unlikely. Which meant the routine for Ryuga Hoden would break just a little. The idea was Four days of exercise, and three days of studying on the free time. The problem was, today was an exercise kind of day on her schedule, but her intention to run out to do that wasn't likely. She could bring her umbrella maybe...? But she couldn't just use an umbrella the entirety of her training. That was a ridiculous notion. And studying was a no go. Ryuga was a little grumpy over it, slightly saddened by the development. Did this mean she would have to take a break? The concept of taking a break wasn't one easily found in her vocabulary. Taking a day off even less so. It was either sharpen the mind, or hone the body, and never relax both. That was how Kokoro always saw it. If there was a moment of free time, then you weren't doing everything in your power to be the best part of yourself. Ryuga would do just that. But... still. Rain. Sighing, Ryuga decided it best to maybe go to her friend. Futaba Himura. If she were being completely honest, maybe she could get closer with the young girl, and perhaps gain a 'best friend'? Ryuga never really had one before. Not that she could remember. In Saga, she might have had one, but the sudden move and... Yeah. Best not to think about that. Poking her head out of her dorm, she would look towards Futaba's room. Biting her lip, she wondered if she even wanted to talk. It almost seemed sometimes that Futaba didn't want to be here, but Ryuga tried her best to befriend her regardless! Some people needed that kind of rock in their lives. That person to keep them grounded. Thus, Ryuga would try and do that. When Ryuga managed to reach Futaba's dorm door, she knocked pleasantly, quietly, and as politely as she could, only to realize that the door was moving. In other words, it wasn't closed at all. This seemed odd to Ryuga. Her orange globes examined the room as it opened. She hadn't knocked the wrong door, she hoped... But, it WAS her room. Ryuga tried to remember all of the rooms, and whom they belonged to. She had it down to memory. This was Futaba's dorm room. As Ryuga took a step inside, not bothering to shut the door behind her, the blonde looked about, taking in everything she could. She didn't like doing this; trespassing on someone else's personal space. It made her feel odd. But, maybe Futaba just went to the bathroom? Would it be weird to come back to Ryuga in her room? Would it be weird if Ryuga just stayed put until Futaba came back? Would friendship even be on the table if she thought Ryuga was snooping around? Ryuga ran through some of the scenarios in hear head, continuing to eye the door, if only because of a small well of guilt inside of her bubbling up. That's when she saw it. "What's this..." her eyes read the top of it. Her mouth opened, and her gaze immediately turned from self-worry and nervousness, to concerned older sister. It was... A filled-out transfer application to a school she hadn't heard of. Ryuga picked it up and read. It had her name. "Futaba..." she spoke to herself. Concern turned sadness. Something told her that things were about to get heavy. But Ryuga was ready.

Today was just a dreary day. It had been raining most of the day. Fu could not recall any time that it was not raining but it probably was not raining when she was sleeping. It was not such bad weather before Fu went to bed last night so she assumed this weather was a "today" thing. She had lain in her bed for most of the day, already having completed her homework for the next day. Not that it was weighing on her mind too much. So far, she kind of has been disregarding the homework that was assigned. She had not put the most effort into her assignments and some of the grades did reflect that. They were passable by any means. It was not like she was failing. She was just doing the bare minimum. There was a reason for that though.
Peering over to her desk, she noted the stack of paper that was neatly organized on the desk. It took her some courage to actually request the paperwork. She knew her sensei would be disappointed when she walked into the office. It was a decently long conversation with her sensei where she was told that if she transferred that there was not turning back. If she left U.A., there simply was no coming back. That was eating at her the most. She knew there would be disappointment from all ends. Her classmates would be disappointed. Her family would be disappointed, especially her brother. She had been laying in bed most of the day agonizing about how her brother would feel. It would be cheaper for Fu to go to school in Otaru.
She rarely moved, mostly starring at the ceiling. Feeling a bit uncomfortable after hours of starring, Fu got up to go to the bathroom. Looking at herself in the mirror of the communal bathroom, she sighed a bit. Why is she here? Swinging by the vending machine before she returned back to her room, she grabbed herself a box of tea. Eventually returning to her room, Fu noticed that something was off.
I closed the door right? Fu thought, kinda confused that the door was wide open. Shrugging, she thought the AC unit in her room might have caused the door to swing open. This was proven wrong when she saw someone familiar looking over at her desk.
Oh no.
"R-ryuga-san? W-what are you doing?"

Every second that went by lasted far longer than it should have. The rain outside deafened any sound Ryuga could have made. And, what was worse, was seeing this paper in front of her was so unreal. The handwriting was Futaba's, or at least Ryuga thought it was. The sections were filled out. Name. Age. Current School. GPA. Ryuga couldn't know everything about Futaba. But. This was surreal. Why did Futaba want to leave? Time would resume when Ryuga heard the words. Futaba's lips spoke them in her normal stutter, and Ryuga glanced at her. That same concerned older sister look came to her face. A mirror would have shown her to look almost just like Kokoro. In those few, fragile seconds before she spoke. Playing the worried friend. No amount of poker face could have stopped Ryuga's facial expression. No amount of lies could hide what had been seen. Situations like this required tact. Putting down the application, Ryuga would bow her head first, and foremost. As an apology for intruding where she didn't belong. She was not nosy. Not gossipy. She wasn't the type to spread words. "My apologies, Himura-san. I was looking to hangout today, since the day seems unfavorable for exercise." There was a moment of pause as she stated this, but as she pulled up from her apology, her eyes still carried the presence of a worried sister. Truly. Ryuga was a fool. She should have seen the signs. But not knowing Futaba well enough would prevent her from seeing them. A curse under her breath. But it was time to open the discussion. "I... didn't mean to be nosy-" she started. But she had been. "-I apologize fully for that. But a transfer application? If I may?" Another pause in her words, left in the air for her to respond. Futaba could say no all she wanted. Ryuga would respect her decision. She would respect her friend's choice. That's what she kept telling herself. So then why was she still being nosy?

Fu lost any colour she had in the face. She was already pale to begin with so she looked almost as white as the walls of her room. Watching Ryuga put the transfer application back onto the desk made Fu realize her fears had come true. One of her fellow 1-A members had walked into her room and discovered her transfer application. There was a chance that Ryuga just walked in and did not have a chance to really read what the piece of paper said. That be perfect. She could just position herself by the desk and fake that she was just cleaning up assignments that were handed back to her. Walking more into the room, Fu threw her room key back onto her nightstand. Giving Ryuga a small smile, she tried to forget the thought that Ryuga would have seen her transfer application.
"O-oh. I just woke up from a nap...You could have written me on that app or whatever." Fu nodded, pointing briefly at the phone on her desk. She preferred setting up most hang outs. She was just a structured person. She had nothing against hanging out with Ryuga though. She was generally a nice person. Plus, she seemed to be the only other girl in the class. They had to be friends, right? Girls stick together, or at least that's what she read on the internet.
"W-we can h-hang out. I h-have nothing to do either." Fu nodded again, slowly inching her way towards the desk. She did not want to make it seem obvious. That did not end up mattering. Ryuga had read her transfer application.
"Y-yes. I, errr." Fu looked around in her room, trying to figure out what else to say. "Err, please don't tell anyone. I've been thinking about it..."
"It's nothing with you guys. I just know I'm wasting my time going here. I won't be able to become a hero so I'm just going back home." Fu sighed, before walking over to the bed and laying down on it.

There was no avoiding what needed to be talked about. It was so far stuck in Ryuga's mind that she couldn't consciously avoid it. Here she was, time ago, trying to connect with one of, if not the only female in the class besides her. She attempted to the best of her ability to connect to her. But now, someone as sweet and kind-hearted as Futaba wished to leave... Honestly? It hurt. What was worse was, at least at first, Ryuga could have thought little to nothing of it. But the filled application meant she had been thinking about it long before this conversation. Sure. Ryuga could have written her on the app to hangout, and thus hide it. Sure. They could hang-out, with the secret already made. In this situation, when someone felt useless, Ryuga could call attention to everything. That she wasn't. But... Ryuga had taken notice. Being dishonest wasn't how Ryuga rolled. Dishonesty led to... Well. Him[/u]. So. Ryuga decided a different approach. As Futaba walked to the bed and laid down, with Ryuga taking everything in, Ryuga knew how to approach this. Deciding to take this moment to walk over, Ryuga sat down on the side of the bed, and began. "Himura-san. I don't believe that. Can I tell you why I don't, at least before you make your decision?" Her gaze turned to look at her, as her fingers delicately placed a strand of blonde hair behind her ear. "I'll only take a minute or two. Then, I'll drop it entirely."It was a means to get her to listen. Because there was a way to get through to Futaba. Ryuga would find it.

Fu should have expected this honestly. Ryuga was an observant person, at least from what Fu could tell. From all the people in 1-A, Ryuga probably was her favourite. Outside her brother, Fu really never had a friend. Ryuga was behaving the way friends would in the animated TV shows that she watched. I guess High School shows don't lie thaaaat much. Kinda funny, thought High School is going to suck for me. Jury is still ought though. Fu had her eyes closed for a few moments. She had thought of many scenarios of people figuring out that she wanted to leave U.A. and thought of many responses for whatever her classmates would say. In her usual fashion, Fu was lost for words though. It happened all the time in middle school. She thought she would move on with being a shy mess when she moved away from home but old habits die hard.
Noticing the bed shift in weight, Fu opened her eyes again. Ryuga had sat down next to her on the bed. She wanted to tell that she didn't believe in Fu's reasoning. Well, Ryuga is nice so might as well listen.
"O-okay, w-why Ryuga-san?" Fu asked, closing her eyes again.

A smile. Futaba allowed Ryuga in. At least, she allowed Ryuga to speak. The simple curving of her lips seemed natural, and her gaze seemed warm. Like when one looked upon their own flesh and blood in a good light. Her gaze turned away to the ceiling. It was time to reveal why she didn't believe it. Another breath. "I... idolize someone very near and dear to me. So much so that I based everything I am upon her. My looks, my studies, my personality? If you met me four years ago, you'd have dealt with a spoiled brat." Ryuga started, taking another breath. Talking about this made her chest hurt, because it brought those memories all running back to her. "I couldn't cook. I didn't study. All my friends saw yen when they looked at me. And even though she taught me everything she could in two years, I still wasn't good. Not yet." Ryuga honestly spoke, turning her gaze to Futaba. It was unlikely, right? The hard-working, hundred-and-ten percent effort girl, who tried her best to be better than a class of males whose Quirks could easily outclass her in every conceivable way. But as she looked to Futaba, she kept her smile. Then she spoke. "You know the first time I cooked a meal for my dad, I almost burned-" her face went pale for a second, remembering the house she actually burned down. "-the meal beyond repair. It could have burnt the whole house down too." Good save. "My point is that everyone starts out bad at this. You can look at every one of our classmates. Even me. Each of us has a flaw we have to overcome ourselves. That's why we're all here; to work on being better." Ryuga placed a hand upon Futaba's, trying to get her to look at Ryuga. There was a beat before she spoke, but it didn't deter her smile. And finally, as she held up Futaba's hand into her own, she continued at last. "That's why I don't believe you, Futaba. You have the potential to be the sweetest, most caring hero of all. You are one of the most gentle souls I'll ever meet. So don't give up before trying. I'll be here every step of the way to help you. Because you're my friend." Ryuga closed her eyes and grinned happily.

With her eyes closed, Fu carefully listened to what her friend had to say. Ryuga was a friend, right? Fu at least thought so to an extent, Fu felt close to the other girl. Maybe it just was being the only other girl in the class, outside her sensei, made her feel that connection. That or she was not a blonde boy which half of the class seemed to be. She would not be surprised if she turned blonde by diffusion. That be funny. Just one day wake up and suddenly she had blonde hair. Fu found that thought somewhat entertaining. Regardless, this isn't what mattered. What mattered was what Ryuga was talking about. Most of the encouragement that Fu received from her classmates was just You're quirk isn't that bad. It was easy for them to say. They all had cool quirks. Fu could use her quirk like once every 5 hours if she didn't want to get a massive headache.
Ryuga felt different though. She wasn't talking about Fu's quirk but rather as Fu as a person. She could feel herself getting emotional. She had never had anyone her age talk so highly of her. It was a stark contrast to what she was used to. Opening her eyes again, Fu looked up at Ryuga. Giving her a soft smile, Fu spoke:
"Ryuga-san...Thank you...I'm still not sure what I'll do. I'll stay here for at least year..." Fu paused before adding "I've never really had friends before but I'm glad you're mine..." Maybe school is going to be good for her after all.

Telling her that her Quirk wasn't that bad would have done nothing for her. It didn't matter, because Quirks weren't something you got to decide at birth. Ryuga didn't get to choose to be the daughter of one of the biggest, infamous villains there is. She didn't get to choose which of her dad's she came from. To say that would have undone everything and probably make Futaba leave. The way to go about something like this, a personal crisis for Futaba, was to make her believe she could be a hero. At the end of the day. Heroics aren't just about looking cool and flashy. It's about helping people. That was legitimately what Ryuga thought. And right now, someone she knew could one day best the best hero needed her help. The grin stayed on her face, painted like a friend who knew that was what she needed to hear. Ryuga didn't have many friends herself. But Futaba was one worth keeping. So when she began to speak, Ryuga's grin died down to just a smile. It was a compromise. A year. To prove herself, to make herself into a bona fide hero. To make the boys in the school jealous. No Quirk was objectively bad. It just required a thought process to each. Ryuga would help with her training, and her studies. Regardless. She was a hard-worker in class, she could do it. When the pause came, and Futaba said the last line, Ryuga felt her throat tighten up. That was perhaps one of the most wholesome things Futaba could ever say. She wasn't crying, but damn that made Ryuga hold it back a bit. To be so glad that Ryuga was her friend. Ryuga picked up her hand and pulled it to her, clasping both of her own hands around it. She couldn't help but tear up a little. Her grin was even brighter than before. "I'm glad you're my friend too, Himura-san." Ryuga didn't wipe her face off. She was touched. Why let Futaba not see that part? The vulnerable side to Ryuga that honestly did love her like the dearest friend. "My first friend. My best friend." she spoke. The words seamlessly coming off her lips. True, it may be early to say. But Futaba was her first friend. Stands to reason, she's also her best friend. And soon, even when they would make more friends, would she still feel that way. How sweet the world is, that despite the gloom of the rain outside, can two teenagers befriend one another so well. Nothing could ruin this feeling in Ryuga's chest.
