[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]I Will Not Be Like My Father [attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ On one hand Kagami didn’t have time for things like friends, but on the other she had always wanted to know what it was like to actually get to know people.
| Kagami walked into the class the same as usual, taking a seat in the back corner she always sat at. It was the ideal spot to be in if she needed to get out of the class in a hurry. It also placed her far enough away from the windows that it limited the options of snipers. It was probably a silly worry, being that UA was packed full of not only pro heroes but also students who could handle themselves in a fight, especially third years. Any attack on campus, especially in the most densely packed area, would require some serious planning and manpower.
Unpacking her bag she began to lay out the items she would need for this first class of the day. A notebook and a pencil for taking notes. While this school’s primary intention was to turn out heroes, they still had to take normal classes, after all they were still high school students. The class had yet to start and as such the room was somewhat lively, people conversing about whatever they felt was important enough to actually talk about. Kagami on the other hand silently waited in her seat for the class to actually start. She didn’t see a need for any extraneous conversations.
It was a strange situation she was in. On one hand Kagami didn’t have time for things like friends, but on the other she had always wanted to know what it was like to actually get to know people. Unfortunately she was well aware of her serious lack of any kind of social skills. That combined with the apparently intimidating look she gave off naturally and the fact that most everyone knew who her father was made things even more difficult. Ultimately she could count it as a good thing, as she didn’t have anything that distracted her from her training but at the same time she knew the importance of taking leisure time.
Her single minded focus though wouldn’t let her forget why she was here. Ultimately it didn’t matter if she actually enjoyed her time at UA. She was here to become a hero, one way or another. It wasn’t about herself. This was for her sister and for her mother. To show her father that she was nothing like him and to show the world that just because he was the monster he was that they don’t deserve the same ridicule he was given.
Sighing almost imperceptibly Kagami began to fidget with her pen, glancing up at the clock to see when things would actually start. She had been plenty early so there was still several minutes until the class was actually supposed to start. All she could really do at the moment was wait.

Maths was probably one of her least favourite subjects. She remembered back in Otaru she would spend hours doing homework. It was frustrating for Fu. People tried to help her but eventually got frustrated. Some of the few people who were able to help her either end up graduating or moving. In Middle School, that is what she thought friends were. From everyone, they were the few people that encouraged her to some extent.
Looking at herself in a mirror, she made sure that her uniform looked respectful. The sensei for this course was a bit of a stickler for cleanliness. Picking up her bag, she headed to the classroom. It was fairly far away compared to her dorm room. It made sense. They put the hero course dorms near the hero course classrooms and they did the same for the General Studies courses. Walking through the hallway, avoiding the gaze of older students, Fu wondered what people thought of her. Ever since she left hero course, rumours have been swirling around the girl. How she bought her way into U.A. or even worse. One rumour she overheard is that her mother had an affair to get Fu into hero course just for Futaba to "throw it away".
Only bumping into one student this time, Futaba made her way to the classroom that read "1-A". Due to some issues, they could not use the 1-E room. From what she heard, there was some issue with one of the pipes that went through the room. Pushing the door open, she could feel people stopping mid conversation ti stare at her. After sliding into her seat, people resumed talking.
Looking around, Fu noticed a girl that look rather unfamiliar. She knew people transferred in and out of UA all the time, but usually not for general studies. Blushing awkwardly, Fu leaned in to ask "Are you new? I haven't seen you in General Studies before?"

| Had Kagami payed more attention to her classmate she probably would have realized that none of the other people in the room were actually in the same class as her. And no one had decided to talk to her or even hint that she was in the wrong location. This was the 1-A class after all. Plus she hadn’t gotten the memo that the 1-A class was being rearranged this morning to accommodate the plumbing issue with the general studies classroom. After having used her quirk to the point of anemia the other day during training she had missed the very end of the day where the class had been told that things would be different. No one bothered to mention this to her back at the dorms and so she had simply come into the class as usual and was prepared for the day.
Kagami noticed when another girl entered, though didn’t pay her any mind just as she hadn’t paid any mind to the other students already in the room. She did notice however the looks that this girl got, they reminded her of the looks that people would often give her. If the facial similarities weren’t enough then usually it wasn’t until she told people her name that they would then realize who she was the daughter of.
Ignoring this curiosity though she only paid enough attention to realize that this girl took a seat next to her. When she spoke it took Kagami a second to realize that it was directed at her. Casual chatter wasn’t something she was well versed in so it took a second or two longer to come up with a response. “General studies?” she asked, raising an eyebrow and looking over at the girl. She definitely didn’t look familiar. Kagami wasn’t so dense as to not realize that the wrong person was sitting in the spot literally right next to her. “This is the hero course, you are in the wrong room,” she said, very straightforward and with a complete lack of tact.

Futaba had memorised her new time table. There was no way that she messed up. The first day of General Studies, Fu did almost go to her old class but it had been some weeks since that happened. Ever since that, she had gotten used to her new schedule. General studies tended to start a little earlier compared to other courses as most students in the course did not live at the school. They wanted that the students get home before it got extremely dark. There was overlap, of course, between all the different courses in the school.
Taking out her phone, she doubled checked the message the sensei sent to them this morning about the classroom change. Reassuring herself, she held the message out to the girl before saying "...There was a piping issue in 1-E and this room is currently not in use for the hero study course. They haven't started their day yet. " Pulling back her phone, Fu looked through her backpack. Taking out both her new and old time table, she held them out to the girl. It showed that hero course classes had not begun yet. Giggling a bit, she gave the girl a sort of reassuring smile. She hoped it showed that mistakes happen to everyone.
"I-I should know about this stuff. I used to be in hero studies. That's h-how I got to UA in the first place."

[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]I Will Not Be Like My Father [attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ Something was very odd about this situation.
| Kagami turned back to her notebook after informing the student next to her that she was in the wrong class. An odd mixup for sure as the general studies rooms weren’t even close to the hero course rooms. But then again it’s possible for people to get seriously lost so as strange as it was there wasn’t anything suspicious about it.
Wait what? Looking over at the message on the girl’s phone Kagami tilted her head slightly in confusion. What did the message mean they hadn’t started their day yet? Kagami had gotten up at the same time she did every morning, it wasn’t like she arrived excessively early each morning or anything. Normally only a few minutes before class. So how would it be that she had shown up long before the hero course was supposed to start?
And then she saw the schedules that the girl pulled out. Both had the same name on them but one was for the hero course and the other for general studies. Okay, that definitely didn’t make sense.
Used to be in the hero course? Once again, something was very odd about this situation. It didn’t quite seem right that someone would be able to make it into the hero course only to then get moved to general studies. Unless this girl had suffered some kind of injury severe enough to hinder her chances of being a pro. Which if that was the case would be a rather disheartening situation. If that was the case it definitely wouldn’t be an enviable position to be in. Kagami probably wouldn’t know what to do.
Still though none of that answered the question of what was going on. Kagami definitely didn’t wake up that early. Mentally she began to go through her morning routine to see if there was anything she had skipped. Wake up. Grab a simple breakfast. Standard morning workout routine in her dorm room. Nope, everything was the same as usual. So where would this mix up come from?
Without saying anything back Kagami reached into her bag and pulled out her phone. Looking at the time it was the same that it normally would be for class to start. It was then that she looked up at the clock in the room, which was a whole hour behind the time her phone was displaying. Eyes widening slightly she turned to the girl next to her. “What time does your phone say?” she asked, her tone completely flat, and apparently as she had been told unsettling to some people.

Is she okay?
Fu wondered, looking at the girl a bit concerned. She was not sure what gotten into the girl but whatever it was it probably was not good. She remembered her first day at U.A. and she went to three different classrooms before she found the 1-A classroom. At this point, Fu knew most of the main school building. She had practised music in empty classrooms, music rooms, and hallways. She obviously preferred the music room but sometimes students would hang out there and do some more teenage things. Fu never understood the need for that. Yeah, she was dating Daiki but the most they have done is softly kiss and hold hands. He seemed to realise that Fu was a gentle type which made her happy. Taking out her phone, she looked at what time it said. It matched up with the time the clock in the room.
Telling the girl that the time was the same as the time noted on the clock, she asked "Errrr, did you forget we had day light savings time? ". It was the only explanation Futaba could come up with. What would be a different reason for them being early? Shrugging a bit, she gave the girl a soft smile.
"D-don't worry, it took me forever to get used to the hero course schedule just to switch. You'll get the hang of it, I'm sure of it!" Fu tried to give the girl a reassuring smile. She was the one to talk. She left hero course, after all. Did not change that she wanted to be a more positive person.
"Daiki would be soooo proud of me." Fu thought, giggling to herself.

[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]I Will Not Be Like My Father [attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ Kagami was defeated. Truly and completely defeated.
| Kagami was defeated. Truly and completely defeated. Her phone was supposed to automatically update for any time changes and yet here she was, far too early to class. Perhaps a normal person would simply laugh this off, or perhaps just mope a little before leaving and finding something to do in the meantime. But Kagami wasn’t exactly a normal person, she didn’t know how to handle this situation. Dealing with the unexpected was something she could do, as long as it was in a combat setting. But this wasn’t that. In a setting like this she had no idea how to adapt on the fly and figure out how to act. The result was awkward to say the least.
Looking around the room and once again checking the time Kagami knew that there wasn’t much time left to make a decision. Rather than panicked however her face became serious, deadly serious. What were her options here? She could just sit here and hope no one noticed. Though the girl next to her had already figured it out so there was the possibility that she’d end up saying something. And even if she didn’t some other student might, or the teacher could notice her. On the other hand she could just get up and walk out, not without drawing some attention to herself though. She would have to pack up her stuff first, and then get up to leave most likely drawing attention. But then she might end up running into the teacher on her way out. While that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing there would still be the possibility that she would be mistaken for a transfer of some kind.
It never crossed her mind to say anything to the girl next to her. Clutching the pencil she had pulled out her mind ran through different scenarios of how things could turn out, racing at a million miles per hour to figure out her next course of action. A sudden snap and a sharp pain in her hand pulled her out of her own head. Looking down she saw that the pencil she had been holding had snapped from the slowly increasing pressure she had been putting on it. A small shard of it had embedded itself into the palm of her hand through quickly fell off as her blood disintegrated the foreign body. Now looking down at her hand and the obsidian hued blood now slowly coming out of the small wound Kagami blinked several times. Sitting there as though in a trance she didn’t respond to anything around her until a drop of the black substance fell onto the desk below her hand. As her blood’s effects began a sizzling sound came as it disintegrated the laminated wood and ended up making a small crater before instantly clotting. Doing the same to the blood that was on her hand she stopped any more from exiting the wound to make things worse.
Just then the teacher walked in and students began to take their seats, by some perfect twist of fate no one came to Kagami’s spot to sit down leaving her there as the class seemed as though it was just about to start.

Fu was concerned. The girl seemed to be distressed to some extent. From what Fu guessed, she was part of the hero studies course and came to the wrong class room because of a time mix up. Fu was probably mostly spot on with her guess. Why else would they be so panicked. Perplexed about the situation, Fu heard the door to the classroom slide open. It was the maths teacher for general studies (and she assumed hero studies). Looking over at the girl, she knew that she would get in some sort of trouble for being in the wrong classroom. Probably be chalked up to being disruptive. Thinking quickly, Fu got up from her seat. Feeling the eyes of everyone in the class follow her, she could feel them silently judging her. Be it her appearance or whatever it might be. Coming up to the teacher's desk, Fu watched as he slowly unpacked his belongings.
"Sensei, I don't think you got my message but we have a temporary student today because of scheduling issues." Fu tried to sound as confident as possible, trying to take her role as potential class representative seriously.
Looking up, he gave Fu a short smile. "Hmm, I think I might have deleted it but I do remember seeing it. Thank you for reminding me. Just for this class period right?"
Fu nodded in response to her teacher's question. Giving her a nod, Fu returned to her seat next to the girl. Leaning over after she had sat down, Fu whispered "I-I c-covered for you. He won't question you being here for the period. Plus you get a head start on maths for the day." Fu gave the girl a nervous smile, hoping she helped out at least a bit.

[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]I Will Not Be Like My Father [attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ But then again wasn’t that one of the major things about being a hero, to help people even if you have literally no ties to them at all?
| This severely limited her options. Kagami glanced at the door, wondering if she could make it out. But it was too far away for her to slip out without everyone noticing. Great, she had put herself in this situation and didn’t have an effective out. Sato would be disappointed in her. The girl next to her standing up drew her attention, and the attention of everyone else. Wait… was this girl lying to keep Kagami out of trouble? They don’t even know one another and she is risking reprimand for a complete stranger? But then again wasn’t that one of the major things about being a hero, to help people even if you have literally no ties to them at all? That was still something she would need to get used to. No matter what her goals were she wouldn’t get far as a hero if she didn’t make a reputation for herself, and sometimes that would require doing those sorts of heroic things.
As the girl sat back down Kagami felt a strange sense of relief. She didn’t need an out now, though she would be stuck in the class. All in all not a bad thing since she could use this time to study, or if the curriculum was the same perhaps get an upper hand on the math lesson for the day. “Thank you,” Kagami whispered to the girl, knowing at least enough to be polite when someone helps her out.
Now remembering the other issue at hand Kagami reached into her bag, pulling out a small bandage roll. While she had used her quirk to effectively stop the bleeding on her hand she couldn’t risk accidentally removing the clotted blood. The last time she had and didn’t notice it she had left a trail of burns on the hallway floor all the way back to her dorm before she even realized she was bleeding. Trying to not draw much attention she wrapped up her hand, just as an extra measure to make sure she didn’t accidentally destroy anything.

Futaba gave the girl a reassuring smile as if to show that she would do it again if she had the chance. She would have said it but she could feel her sensei's gaze on her. He probably was doubting her story to some extent or he was just checking that Fu did not talk so much in class. The latter would be funnier to Futaba. Half the time, most of the other kids in her class would do the talking. He would be too absorbed writing equations on the board. He often was is in hiw own world. Futaba did not mind it. She could take notes and block out the low chatter from her classmates. She did well on the last test while the rest of the class did not do so well so she doubts that she was the biggest concern of the class.
Taking out her notebook, she glanced over to the girl sitting next to her. Seeing the bandages, she looked a bit concerned. Not wanting to attract more attention to her already, she quickly shot a message to her using her quirk.
"Are you okay?" would ring in the girl's mind in a voice similar to Fu's. She hoped the difference did not make the girl jump or the use of her quirk in general. That was the last thing she needed. Usually when she used her quirk without warning, most people would jump or have some sort of reaction to it. Another reason her quirk was not that great.

[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]I Will Not Be Like My Father [attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ she would have to figure out who the girl was and return the favor in some way.
| With that situation taken care of, thanks to the girl sitting next to her, Kagami pulled another pencil out of her bag. If she was here then she might as well spend this time doing something productive, and if the math classes were the same then she’d get a head start on today’s lesson. Meaning she could do the homework during her math class and hopefully be mostly done with it before the end of the day. Focusing on the lesson she didn’t exactly notice the teacher’s odd glances back in the direction of the girl sitting next to her. She also didn’t notice when the girl’s voice appeared in her head. Well she noticed it of course what she failed to notice however was that the words weren’t actually spoke to her.
“I’m fine. Just a small cut,” Kagami responded, aloud though quietly. Not quiet enough to keep herself from drawing the attention of the teacher. Looking up in time to catch his glare she simply met it with the same blank murder face that she always wore. Which seemed to have the same effect on him that it did on many people, obviously freaking him out slightly. It seemed that even some of the pro heroes or former pros who were staff here couldn’t completely resist her murderous gaze.
With what could perhaps be considered a sigh, though an extremely quiet one she went back to taking her notes. It was hard for her to tell how she felt about this situation, but she wasn’t in a bad spot like she had been. Which was thanks to the girl in the seat next to her. So what would a normal person do when faced with something like this? Right, she would have to figure out who the girl was and return the favor in some way. The only problem was that Kagami had absolutely no idea how to properly return a kind act like that. She’d need to text Akari latter and ask her what to do, which is what she did any time she was faced with a situation that she couldn’t handle on her own. Well at least situations where she could actually spend the time doing so.

Futaba fully expected the girl to just take what she said using her quirk and not respond. She had turned away before hearing the girl's voice. Almost instantly, Fu could feel the gaze of half the class on them. Of course things could not be so easy. Shaking her head, she noticed that the teacher had not noticed. He was too engrossed in his equation writing. "Man, that guy really does like Trigonometry." Fu looked over at the girl before deciding it could wait til the end of class. No need to interrupt the class again and be judged to crap by the rest of the class. They were already judging her for being here so she was not going to help it along. Sighing one last time, she focused in on the black board.

"It's class time already?" Fu's sensie muttered as the class started leaving around him. Getting up from her seat, she slid her belongings into the little bag she had. Turning towards her "new" seat neighbour, she gave them a soft smile. Bowing slightly, Fu introduced herself. "PI'm Futaba Himura. Pleased to meet you! The girl seemed nice and she always was open to making friends. She sure was not making friends in General Studies. General Studies was just like her old school.
"And don't worry about today, alright? The school message system sucks anyway." Fu gave a soft giggle, glancing at her phone. "What's your name?" Futaba added quickly, before she would forget to ask.

[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]I Will Not Be Like My Father [attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ Kagami didn’t exactly pay much attention to her classmates most of the time. If she had then she probably would have realized that she was in the wrong class to begin
| The rest of the class was quiet for the most part. This instructor was surprisingly focused on his work which made things better. Though Kagami did notice the gazes of the other students, most of them probably didn’t know who she was even if she looked like her father. Well they would have been around the same age as her when all of that happened so unless they knew about older villains then she would be somewhat in the clear there. Though still she couldn’t simply ignore the chance that someone might. That perception of her family that had caused them to move so far away, that’s what she was here to correct.
As the bell rang Kagami was somewhat surprised at how quickly the class had been through with. But she had all the notes she would need and could easily start on the homework now, meaning she could due that during her math period and that would free up some of her time after classes. She could get in more training that way, which was always a plus. If she was ever not at the top of her game then she’d be in a bad way, after all she tried not to user her quirk when she could avoid it.
Once again Kagami’s attention was drawn to the girl next to her as she spoke up. Futaba Himura, that name seemed familiar in some way. Now if Kagami were more observant she might have noted that this girl had previously been in 1-A, which would explain why she had the two different schedules. But alas Kagami didn’t exactly pay much attention to her classmates most of the time. If she had then she probably would have realized that she was in the wrong class to begin with before it had to be pointed out to her.
“Right. Thank you again. My name is Ueda, Kagami Ueda,” she said. If nothing else she knew to introduce herself when needed. Though she always did worry that someone might recognize the name and put it together with her appearance. But that was something she had come to terms with early on.
